Reviews for The Mill Arms

Review 1:Room was freezing on arrival , heater in bathroom not working , bath only , no shower . Very basic for £95 which we thought was over priced .

Review 2:Party in evening with friends although drinks were expensive

Review 3:The bed was not very comfortable, had to ask for shower gel and shampoo, plus impossible to turn off a bathroom light,no homemade cookies as stated on website. Bed was not made well on morning after first night, quilt just thrown over.

Review 4:Pub food was so expensive and was possibly the worst burger I've ever had and I work away most weeks so eat out a lot

Review 5:Couldn't really fault the room apart from no shower

Review 6:We would not stay here again! The room wasn't just dirty it was neglected. On arrival we found the toilet had poo stains in it and there was no signs that the room had been cleaned. The following evening we found the bed wasnt made and the staff had left our towels on the floor in the bathroom.

Review 7:Very welcoming, room clean and comfortable, bed fresh and cosy.Good parking. Dinner and breakfast very good. Our dog was also made very welcome! We would stay here again.

Review 8:Due to us having to start work early I requested a packed lunch but declined as they wanted to charge £15 for 2 sandwiches + 2 drinks!! Location not good especially if travelling in the dark.

Review 9:Evening meals were nice although bacon & cheese burger bit steep at £12.50!!

Review 10:My room only had a shower head so had to have a bath rather than a shower. This is usually a deal breaker for me but not in this case. It was nice to have a bath for a change!

Review 11:The food and atmosphere were fantastic, the location peaceful, the room and the welcome were warm. With a woodland walk directly behind the pub my travel companions had very nice walk before sharing my perfectly prepared steak.

Review 12:Rooms are clean and spacious with Room 6 being the pick of the bunch. Food is very good and all cooked fresh. Breakfast again is good and cooked fresh to order and worth the wait. Would like to see a bit more heat in the rooms and downstairs as winter approaches. All in all a good place to stay for the Romsey and surrounding areas.

Review 13:Bathroom was a little tired decoration wise but spotlessly clean and water was lovely and hot.

Review 14:Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very comfortable. Good was delicious.

Review 15:When we did go out we were disappointed that there were no little shops - or even a pavement to walk on. The weight and speed of the traffic was too much and dangerous to attempt to walk on the side of the road itself. We had to leave the day before the booked and it would have been better if we could have stayed and really had a good look round.

Review 16:We did like the setting of the Mill Arms but had little chance of seeing much more of it than a quick look round. The hotel is situated in a lovely spot with lots of trees etc - very restful, even if we didn't have time to find out!! The people who ran the Mill Arms were very pleasant and helpful which is always a nice feeling to have. Thank you.

Review 17:The staff, room, breakfast and bed. Very near station on train line between Southampton and Salisbury so hope to return in order to explore further without a car.

Review 18:The breakfast wasn't up to scratch however and the bed left us with bad backs due to being too soft. Showers need a curtain to stop water splashing everywhere and to be attached to wall.

Review 19:Lovely location and nice staff with lovely food and it's great that dogs are aloud to stay as it makes it feel lovely and homely.

Review 20:Our shower didn't work but there was a bath so no big deal.

Review 21:The Mill Arma was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. We stayed here with our young daughter as it was not far from Peppa Pig World and cheaper than a lot of other places we looked at close by.

Review 22:Bedrooms not made up from first night. Would prefer if breakfast included in price and some of the add on's (ie Jam) were expensive. Suggest more doubles and less twin beds.

Review 23:Other guests were out and in from their rooms from the crack of dawn! This is quite loud as the doors bang quite loudly, but no fault on the part of the pub!

Review 24:Excellent staff, excellent room!

Review 25:The room I stayed in really needed redecorating, the furniture was old, but it was clean.

Review 26:What I liked was that I had a few issues with the room and food and the staff went out of their way to rectify it. It was a new owner taking over and he appreciated the feedback. Nice big TV which was good and lovely warm bedroom

Review 27:The bathroom would be better with a proper shower, which would be easier than a bath, and prevent running out of hot water. The "half English" breakfast looked much better value than our "full English". They should have porridge available as a choice. These are minor quibbles rather than complaints. We shall stay again.

Review 28:Almost everything.

Review 29:room was very cold and took 3 different heaters put in before one worked and had to ask for toast then butter at breakfast

Review 30:the evening meal was very very good

Review 31:The free WiFi kept losing signal, no shower in bathroom so always had to a have a bath. But then I found that the hot water would run out so me or my roomate would then have a cold bath afterwards.

Review 32:The staff and cleanliness was spot on.

Review 33:The only thing i can pick up on is I have stayed twice now in 2 different rooms and neither had a full shower. Just a shower hose from the tops. I would just ask the owners to put one in that is all. However well and truly made up for it by the staff warm welcome to the hotel....

Review 34:Hotel was great and the staff excellent. Food great and some great local beers. Great selection for breakfast...

Review 35:Had trouble with connecting to the wifi (actually didn't manage to). It wasn't enough of an issue to run someone down to help, which I know they would have been only too happy to. Oh,not a complaint, a suggestion any chance of prettying up the flat roof which we looked out onto.

Review 36:We were made to feel very welcome and the room was very nice. Impressed with the cleanliness. Really couldn't fault anything with the room or the service. Both of us enjoyed our breakfasts ( which kept me full all day) very tasty!!

Review 37:The door to the rooms corridor kept banging throughout the night which was a shame. Not great room facilities and toiletries for the price. No shower curtain!!

Review 38:Breakfast did not start until late and it felt a bit like a cafe as you paid for each item as opposed to a flat rate fee for breakfast which should have been included in the price

Review 39:The room was excellent - warm, clean & cosy

Review 40:Stained bedroom carpet in Superior Four Poster Room. No hand towels in bathroom. No soap in dispenser on very tiny hand basin. No hook on wall for shower/mixer tap so unable to have an upright shower. No shower screen or curtain. Bathroom generally very tired and dated. Breakfast choice was limited.

Review 41:The evening meal was very good. The young waiter was very helpful.

Review 42:I did mention the next morning that there were no toiletries in the room (probably the 1st time I ever forgot to supply my own, which was typical of my luck!) However, the landlord was very apologetic, explaining that he had a new chambermaid. This however, did not upset my stay in any way!

Review 43:The welcoming & helpful staff, always cheerful, food was excellent & the room & location were beautiful.

Review 44:Fan extractor unit located outside was noisy and could be heard in the bedroom. The shower is over the bath but there is no shower door or curtain.

Review 45:Location, good transport links. Landlord and staff very friendly.

Review 46:Nothing we didn't like

Review 47:Arranged a Classic car weekend for members of Standard Motor Club and friends. Food and accommodation excellent. Being updated inside and out by new owners who were very friendly and obliging. Would recommend

Review 48:Nothing!

Review 49:Very comfortable bed, good selection of tea and coffee with homemade biscuits, fresh milk, fluffy towels, beautiful bathroom with quality toiletries, bottled water, plenty of pillows.

Review 50:Unfortunately, and no fault to the owners the inn is near a railway crossing. During times of the year which neccesitate open windows, the crossing warning and running trains are a disturbance.

Review 51:Great service, nice pub, great food. Really enjoyed the breakfast. The Landlord takes great care to see that the food and drink are top quaity.

Review 52:I wasn't advised there was no food served on a monday, I then walked for a mile to find the next pub to find that was also closed. The room had no shower facilities at all as the shower head did not work and was not wall mounted anyway.

Review 53:Good value at £58 for a one night solo stay.

Review 54:The accommodation is a bit tired feels like it is not a main focus for the business.

Review 55:Really good food - a friendly and warm pub.

Review 56:the staff were excellent

Review 57:Good bed exelent food

Review 58:Service a little slow particularly at breakfast. Room could have been better cleaned.

Review 59:Pleasant location. Food good.

Review 60:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. The surrounding gardens and fields

Review 61:The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and we loved the place!

Review 62:Address is misleading as it's 4 miles from Romsey.

Review 63:food and service very poor. window so high couldn't see out. no chair.no bin only in bathroom. television smallest we have ever seen.

Review 64:not a lot

Review 65:Had a lovely relaxed stay, staff friendly. Food was really nice.

Review 66:Good food and the room was a good size.

Review 67:It was a convenient place to stay for our purpose of attending a family wedding

Review 68:Nice location, very central to main attractions. 15/20min drive from everything.

Review 69:We enjoyed the area, near to National Trust property and Hillier gardens. We were well looked after and had a tasty evening meal.

Review 70:Family run business, very helpful.

Review 71:Trains!!!!

Review 72:Very easy going, pleasant staff, brill breakfast

Review 73:Late start to breakfast. No shower. Decor in room dated - all felt a bit tired and in need of investment.

Review 74:Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 75:Shower curtain or door would be good

Review 76:Food and staff were excellent

Review 77:my room was not cleaned at all while I stayed here also no breakfast included even though room was 75.00 per night

Review 78:food was good in the evenings

Review 79:It took a while to heat the room and bathroom seemed to have no heating or ventilation

Review 80:friendly owners

Review 81:nothing

Review 82:lovely place to stay, really accommodating for your needs. food was delicious. all round lovely place to stay. really welcoming too.

Review 83:Heater not working properly

Review 84:The owner Richard is very friendly.

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Cheerfull

Review 87:Room was cold heating did not work. No shower bath only. Not very clean. Food was very bland

Review 88:Breakfast not being served until 8am

Review 89:Water buffalo burger

Review 90:Nothing really i didn't like

Review 91:enjoying my tasty meal in front of the log fire with friendly conversations with other guests and the owner.

Review 92:A quiet pub with a nice log fire and tasty evening meal. Breakfast kept us going most of the day.

Review 93:No spoon in our room to stir tea. And no coffee hot choc satchets

Review 94:nice location. rooms nice.

Review 95:We enjoyed our stay our was was great and we had a great breakfast

Review 96:Great location and comfortable room - a lovely visit!

Review 97:We arrived at the Mill Arms after a long journey by plane, train and car and were immediately able to relax.

Review 98:The food was awful

Review 99:Staff friendly. Rooms clean and well appointed.

Review 100:Village not big enough

Review 101:Station no more than 50 yards from hotel with trains to Salisbury and Southampton very frequent.

Review 102:Breakfast not included

Review 103:Lovely clean room with some nice touches like home cooked cookies and a clothes brush.

Review 104:Found the inner connecting door locked in the morning, but hadn't realized that this is only opened into the main part of the pub at 8.0am - not obvious to a visitor.

Review 105:A pleasant family had taken over the pub a short while ago and they were in the early stages of setting up. Licensee was friendly, helpful and willing to chat and discuss the family's future at the pub. No doubt with time and frequent visitors it will build up sufficiently.

Review 106:Felt the food I had was very overpriced for what it was - maybe I chose the wrong things off the menu?

Review 107:Lovely welcome from friendly staff. Very nice room, good size, well decorated. Lots of easy parking.

Review 108:No shower set up, just hose and shower head. No big issue as we just used the bath instead.

Review 109:Nice friendly atmosphere and good food. Staff were willing to help with any queries we had about the surrounding location.

Review 110:Continental breakfast was very poor. Just cereal and limp toast with asmall coffee. No juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries or extra coffee onoffer which we've had for a similar price elsewhere.

Review 111:We stayed in a room with 2 single beds and they weren't really comfortable. The hotel is quiet but you can hear your next door neighbours.

Review 112:The hosts were very nice and friendly. The restaurant is good. Nice surroundings.

Review 113:N/A

Review 114:very friendly approach nothing to much trouble excellent menu and well appointed rooms, attention to detail on hospitality tray nice touches, close to family so would stay again.

Review 115:We were staying at the mill arms as a stop off en route to another desdination. We arrived after the kitchen had closed but the staff were more than happy to prepare us a cold meat and chees platter, perfect after a 4 hour drive. The room was clean and well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Review 116:The staff went over and above, really refreshing to receive such goodservice. Breakfast was awsome! Room was lovely and clean. Other reviewsmention the noise from the trains but we didn't find it a problem

Review 117:Rather strange heating systems (all or nothing), cold dining room forbreakfast. Bathroom tap was not fixed and the tv aerial was broken withintermittent transmission. Disappointed that our booking for the 4poster bed room was unavailable and had a double room with compensationof breakfast free on our first day.

Review 118:Pleasant location, close to our friends who we were meeting fortheir wedding.

Review 119:A shower curtain would be useful!

Review 120:There was a confusion over the booking (booking.com should not allowbookings to be made when accommodation is closed), however theowner/manager Andrea was extremely helpful and went beyond the callof duty to organise our rooms and some breakfast for us.

Review 121:Most things

Review 122:Not a lot
