Reviews for Best Western Lovat Hotel

Review 1:having recently moved from USA I find I cannot automatically receive my rewards points. It's one large company right ? no matter which continent ?

Review 2:brilliant staff, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 3:Rooms are dated, bed uncomfortable, overpriced and awful room service. Called and told they couldn't offer us anything, then called back and said they could give us a few turkey sandwiches as there was left over turkey. Friends who also stayed said no one answered their calls so they went hungry.

Review 4:Friendly reception. Great parking, location and breakfast.

Review 5:Bed was hard - but not the worse. I thought the menu was a bit small, and whist the food was nice, the choice was limited

Review 6:Nice room, friendly staff, bar drinks were very nice and service was excellent.

Review 7:1. Being told when booking that the lesiure facilities were close by the hotel. In fact a 20 min walk. 2. Breakfast on the 1st day was very poor we were down by 9am to find most of the tables dirty, and the food served was very poor. this actually put us off from having dinner in the hotel which was a shame as the next days was good. change of cook maybe. 3. no lift

Review 8:We enjoyed the breakfast on the second day.

Review 9:Rooms dated and heating broken ..maintenance staff didn't work weekends to fix it so had to move rooms. Our second room we moved to then had a leaking ceiling as it was raining heavily. Night porter had to bring a bucket to collect the drops and the noise kept us awake during the night..electric shower awful and noisy..water cold in one of our rooms so had a cold shower..Breakfast poor and breakfast staff inefficient. Rang a day before to request goats milk which hotel agreed to provide but wasn't available at breakfast. Locked out of rooms after breakfast as the electronic system had been set incorrectly for our check out. Staff had to reset..Terrible hotel just don't bother.

Review 10:We had booked 3 rooms at this hotel and only chose hotel for its location close to family. We knew it was basic but the Receptionist on arrival was very friendly and welcoming so we thought may be our stay would be pleasant. Credit to her patience as she tried to sort our heating problems and moved us to 3 warmer bedrooms where the heating worked. Night porter friendly and he sorted us a drink at the bar for the inconvenience of moving rooms and provided a bucket for the leaky ceiling in our second room!

Review 11:The bedroom was a little jaded - decor could do with updating, no hook on the back of the bathroom door. Room was very warm on the second night; window appeared to be painted up and couldn't be opened. When we mentioned it the next morning, we were told it did open with a bar at the top - clearly not easy to find!!

Review 12:Staff were very friendly and the food was fabulous. Had a two night stay and ate in the restaurant both evenings. Breakfasts very generous, although inconsistent on quantity of the full cooked option - two sausages one day, but only one the second?!

Review 13:Plumbing needs serious investment as does the decor. Cold water on two of my three days. Given use of another room for ablutions but bath water ran too slow to use. Radiators tempermental and ineffective. No discount offered in compensation for inconvenience. Breakfast ok but selection of fruit was poor.

Review 14:Staff were friendly and helpful. Place was clean.

Review 15:The meals we had were saturated in fat. The floorboards were all squeaky, both in the bedroom and corridors, the bed wasn't much better. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, the bedroom carpet was all wrinkled up, overall wasn't good value. Really disappointing. ?

Review 16:Staff were friendly

Review 17:The gentleman on the desk went out of his way to help us when we realised we had forgotten our overnight bags. Magazines and newspapers to read a lovely added extra.

Review 18:Close to hospital to visit sick relative. Also not far from centre of Perth; although not walking distance. Very helpful staff who sorted a couple of issues very quickly

Review 19:The TV remote control did not work properly; I could not connect to the wifi; one of the plugs did not work and the shower was difficult to operate. The advertised leisure facilities turn out to be at another hotel 1 mile way so hardly convenient.

Review 20:I like the addition of the leisure centre complimentary with the stay. It is most enjoyable to unwind at the sauna after a day's travel on the road. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient. When we enquire about the fish ladder and dam, she was quick to search out the details and kindly printed it out for me. Will definitely revisit.

Review 21:Excellent Location for our needs. Lovely Room, very clean, fully equipped. All Staff extremely welcoming and attentive. Fair/Good menu food well presented.

Review 22:The first room never slept at night the constant traffic in room 222 then we got room 215 the bed was so hard not comfortable

Review 23:The staff and location was great food was excellent could not fault

Review 24:Room was a bit tired looking, in particular the curtains were warn out but room cosy, warm and perfectly adequate. Felt the curtains let the side down unnecessarily.

Review 25:Great to have plenty of room in the car park, especially as had two cars.

Review 26:Rooom was badly designed, curtain linings were torn, carpet didn't fit properly and bed creaked. The location is about 20 minutes walk into city centre and quite steep on the way back. Drinks in the bar a little expensive, we didn't eat in the restaurant except breakfast.

Review 27:The breakfast was very good, lots of choices and great selection of fruit on the buffet table. Hot meals cooked to order. Our room was quiet and there was plenty free parking in the car park. Bus for town a couple minutes walk away.

Review 28:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room itself was clean and very comfortable. I went bed and breakfast and this was served very quickly and was hot and plentiful.

Review 29:The room was very dated - carpets throughout the hotel were poor, decor in my room was very dated - in my opinion the hotel needs major transformation.

Review 30:The staff and Breakfast here were the very good.

Review 31:Room we were in was at the rear of the hotel and small. We did not complain as we were comfortable but rooms and common areas in need of a total redecoration.

Review 32:Location and very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 33:Our room was on main road just at the top of the stair. The weather was very warm as was the room, but because of traffic noise we couldn't have the window open through the night. Would definitely ask not to be put in room around the stairway again, but would go back to the Lovat again.

Review 34:Have stayed here many times, good hotel within walking distance of city centre. Hotel is clean, room had everything we needed.

Review 35:The hotel was exactly what we wanted - somewhere clean and comfortable. We had our evening meals there and the food was excellent. They accommodated a vegetarian cheerfully and competently.

Review 36:Hard squeeky bed and noise from squeaky floor boards above us. We were in room 225 and it sounded like the people above us were walking around all night.

Review 37:Staff were good, breakfast was great.

Review 38:Toilet didnt quite flush, staff didnt seem to care even after reporting this to them. Only got told that their maintenance person is not available on the weekend thereby forcing us to use the public toilets which one has the same issue while the other barely flushes. The front desk did state they will send someone up to have a look but never turned up.

Review 39:Has onsite parking, room is cozy enough

Review 40:The rooms were badly in need of refurbishment and the single beds in double room were children size and the mattresses felt like they had on foam in them .

Review 41:The room was like ice, cold night heaters turned off, Beds hard and not comfortable, duvets almost pointless as they were so thin. Could be cleaner, rooms desperately require upgrading, beds require upgrading too.

Review 42:Convenient, nice exterior, pleasant FOH staff.

Review 43:Could do with a lick of paint could not log on to wifi on any of my devices have up in the end even the staff could not help me but was not there fault.

Review 44:Staff were great good location.

Review 45:The carpet in the room needed stretched. It was riding up all over the room. Sheets left lying all over the corridor when we arrived. Bedroom needed upgrading. Very noisy throughout the night due to other residents arriving back in the early hours of the morning.

Review 46:Nice bar restaurant. Breakfast was good.

Review 47:Very hard bed, very squeaky floorboards above us, most of the night! Very untidy outside our part of the building. Weeds, glasses and cups left lying for 2 days. Coffee was luke warm and tar like. No earl grey tea as shown in menu and scrambled eggs were cold.

Review 48:Location

Review 49:Cups and saucers left outside on the tables along with the overflowing fag bin, no sound proofing could here room to the left and the upstairs rooms as well, just about every floor board and door creaked

Review 50:Staff were friendly and pleasant, brake fast was quick and good choice

Review 51:The wifi was a bit difficult to connect to on my ipad, but that may have been my own devices fault and not the connection. Besides, wifi isn't a big deal when you're away for the weekend anyway.

Review 52:The Staff were very helpful and friendly. The shower fused in our first room so we were just moved into a room with a bath and shower. The night porter also provided us with cutlery from the kitchen for our take aways when we arrived back after 11pm.

Review 53:Unfortunately the bed wasn't the comfiest & from around 6am onwards we could hear people above us as the floor must have been very creaky!

Review 54:Very friendly staff, nice building, good location.

Review 55:Carpet was worn radio didn't work plus no wifi all the time I stayed there not happy with that Plus fire alarm went off at 5:30 am and no one bothered to say it was false alarm or anything

Review 56:Staff were friendly Breakfast was good

Review 57:they took the payment before I checked in, the receptionist had an attitude, no heating in the room, i was freezing. phone in room only worked if you jiggled it.

Review 58:Our first room was on the roadside and was very noisy with traffic, we were moved immediately the next morning when a quieter room was available.a

Review 59:Value for money, accommodating friendly efficient staff, a good base where we stayed for two nights while we visited Scone Palace and the Scottish game fair before travelling on for a tour of the highlands of Scotland.

Review 60:Bed was a bit hard for me. TV on side wall instead of in front of bed was uncomfortable to watch. Decor a bit outdated

Review 61:Staff were nice. Breakfast was good

Review 62:Old dates hotel rooms, paper thin roof and walls, could hear other people above walking and people taking in room next to ours. Shower and bathroom were terrible. Cheap but quality also very cheap.

Review 63:The hotel needs revamping completely. Room was tired and needs overhaul

Review 64:Parking and location Restaurant pleasant and good food an good value. Staff overall friendly and attentive

Review 65:The hotel was rather tired looking and dated and certainly was not worth £140 as quoted online. The bathroom door did not close and simple things like shampoo in the bathroom were missing. Also, the spa and pool that is advertised is in a separate hotel a mile down the road (not obvious when booking online or on the best western website) and again this facility was dated, shabby and really very poor.

Review 66:Having to ring the night porter to get in at night, if you had left you're phone behind you wouldn't be able to get back in.

Review 67:Service was excellent and room comfortable

Review 68:The Only problems are; The stairs into the Hotel and Up to the Rooms as both my Wife and I have a problem with them.

Review 69:Getting In after getting Parked and fighting the Stairs

Review 70:Room was old and dated, carpet didn't even fit the floor, breakfast was shocking, eggs were obviously powdered coffee must have been sitting there for hours and service was very poor

Review 71:Receptionist was very nice and helpful

Review 72:Signposting to the hotel could be a little better. We drove past it and had to double back.

Review 73:Room was comfortable. Excellent breakfast choice. Good parking.

Review 74:Room was very spacious. with tea and coffee making facilities. Hairdryer was provided too. Excellent meal served in the restaurant - we went for the Steak and Strawverries deal - £15.00 each, delicious.

Review 75:Being informed I still had to pay on arrival when the bill had previously been settled. Ran out of croissants on Sunday morning. Check out was 11am but cleaning staff tried to gain entry earlier.

Review 76:Friendly bar staff Comfortable stay Good breakfast

Review 77:Breakfast was very disappointing. Ordered bacon and scrambled egg. One rasher of bacon and a small amount of watery egg. Very measly portions.

Review 78:Location and hotel were very good. Staff were friendly.

Review 79:Tear in curtains. Tree outside window needs cutting back. Couldn't open window for fresh air.

Review 80:Large ground floor room with bath. Wifi availability. Easy to find. Good breakfast.

Review 81:The actual hotel staff were very rude. When we entered we walked in on what we believe to be too managers who were in the processes of handing over. One chap told a female staff member that something was dirty and that the hotel had done poorly that day as they only had two customers in for lunch. The girl who actually checked us in was lovely and very attentive. Unfortunately she didn't know the hotel too well and couldn't tell us where our room was, when she tried to get the attention of another staff member she was ignored. The whole hotel smelled very strongly, almost like old chip pan fat...really unpleasant. We chose to cut our loses and move on.

Review 82:Girl who checked us in was lovely. She actually did not work at the hotel (we think she meant that she normally worked at another Best Western in the area).

Review 83:Easy to find, easy to park and close to the city centre and attractions. Arrived after 11.00pm and the staff were only too happy to make us a couple of sandwiches. Much appreciated. Good service.

Review 84:I have nothing to fault.

Review 85:Firstly, the service of the staff was fantastic. Very friendly, welcoming and couteous. We also had a evening meal at the hotel and I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised. Again, the service was great, but also the food was first class, and very well presented.

Review 86:Not a dislike but seemed odd that on asking for the same cooked breakfast on both mornings I did not get the same number of items i.e. 2 sausages the first morning but only 1 on the second. I would have thought that there would have been a standard number of items.

Review 87:Location and the historic interest from 1746 displayed on the restaurant walls.

Review 88:litter outside. window blocked by tree. Bed to uncomfortable to sleep in. Tv easily knocked ionto on wall. No rail to get into shower over bath. Holes in curtains. Fire escape door difficult to open and very noisey from upstairs.

Review 89:food was good and service was good.

Review 90:Room was quite cold turned radiator up made no difference looked to see if see if another blanket but none.

Review 91:Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotels house keeping was great so clean and furniture was spot on. Breakfast in dining was great .

Review 92:Rooms need updated. Dark wood furniture, shabby carpet looked tired and worn out. Dripping pipes, creaky floorboards and beds. TVnot in centre of room awkward angle to watch.

Review 93:The wifi didn't always connect to my phone - which wasn't a bit problem for me but others might be bothered. I'm sure if I had brought up the issue, it would have been resolved.

Review 94:The hotel was clean and comfortable, just how it is advertised. The breakfast was great and the staff were too! In particular the night porter who went out his was to help us and was extremely friendly.

Review 95:Couldn't figure out how to flush their toilets! (probably my own bad though)

Review 96:Even though it's not in the city center, and we arrived late at night and walked from the station, it wasn't hard to find. Staff was friendly, and the breakfast was excellent!

Review 97:TV remote did not work, staff not helpful, but offered different room, took that remote back to first room and it worked OK. 1st one probably needed new batteries, but staff not helpful

Review 98:Breakfast Smoked Haddock & poached egg

Review 99:Poor quality room ,carpet ruffled old and badly laid ,an accident waiting to happen, bed linen dirty ,poor breakfast no egg cups for a boiled egg , after complaining never good any answers from management

Review 100:Staff meeting going on as we were having breakfast at 845am in the restaurant, raised voices and a walk out not good!! Rooms/ espically bathroom very dated and needs attention, seal around bath and shower mouldy, flooring coming away from walls!

Review 101:Got in our room earlier than 4pm check in ( which I feel is quite late for a check in)

Review 102:I got the B&B for £35. Think I got the dud room as it was really small bed and room very musty. Shower tepid or cool in morning.

Review 103:Breakfast was ok and cooked to order Pint at the bar

Review 104:Room 210 - on the flat roof outside my window a very noisy rustling tarpaulin that was a bit loose and blew about during the night in high winds. The room was above a 'boiler'(?) That was on all night and continually switched on and of during the night. The radiator was on full and on all night- the thermostat was broken and fell off. The room was sweltering and I had the option of 'stewing' in the heat or opening the window and listening to the very noisy tarpaulin. The result of all this was 'no sleep'. On top of all this the mesh curtain was tatty and the carpet was a disgrace. The room only cost of £88 was a joke. Not a happy customer and very disappointed with Best Western

Review 105:That it was near Perth royal Infirmary as I had to be at the hospital at 7.15 for a big operation

Review 106:I was greeted by Reception staff telling me off for being late when I had phoned to say it was a possibility due to distance travelling and weather! Was also seeing family due to my grandparents funeral the next day so was very upset by the welcome

Review 107:Night staff and breakfast staff were pleasant! Room was clean and bed comfortable curtains were heavy enough to block out morning light! Breakfast very good

Review 108:Hotel a bit tired looking needing a revamp especially rooms would have been very disappointed if we had payed full amount for night but at £53 it was a bargain

Review 109:Location was good staff very friendly place clean breakfast was good

Review 110:Room wasn't ideal location as the easiest way to access main hotel was either to walk outside in the snow or 2 flights stairs and long corridors inside hotel

Review 111:YOU QUOTE FREEVIEW TV BUT IT IS VERY LIMITED COMPARED TO MY OWN ONLY 40 MILES AWAY

Review 112:FOOD WAS TOP RATE FOR A HOTEL OF YOUR STANDARD ALSO GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

Review 113:Wifi connection was intermittent in room. Decor was a bit tired. No key for outside door given out so if returning after 11pm you need to call the night porter.

Review 114:Friendly, helpful staff. Short taxi ride into the city centre or 15 minute walk. Good breakfast.

Review 115:Single room which was noisy. the water power was very poor in both the wash hand basin and the shower. woken at 5.15am with a member of staff hoovering in the bar area below my room. When I reported all these things whilst checking out there was no offer of reduction in price. I will not be using this hotel again.

Review 116:Staff and parking

Review 117:The room was freezing on arrival and i dont feel the cold EVER. To be fair i think they would have gave us a heater if we wanted one but we were out of the room most of the time so initially thought it wouldnt be necessary. I thought it would have warmed up on our return about 8.30 pm but it wasnt much better. We went to bed but i woke at 5 for the bathroom and it was baltic!! I did mention all this to the receptionist and she did say that the heating goes off at 11pm and comes back on at about 4am but i think in the winter months it should be left on, even at a lower temperature. We had a twin room and the beds were really past their best. I would stay again if it was only one night but i would ask for a heater.

Review 118:The location was good, only a 15 min walk to town. Room was very clean and breakfast was good.A good choice of cereals, fruit, etc., the cooked breakfast was freshly cooked and well presented Lots of magazines at reception for you to borrow. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 119:You only really need a comfortable bed and hot water. Cold showers are not good in Scotland in November! A few broken lightbulbs. Parking a squeeze. Wifi utterly useless!

Review 120:Fast check-in. Well heated room. Decent tv.

Review 121:the shower in the room was not working properly but I didn't report it as my stay was for business purposes not leisure. Found the room very dated with a selection of electrical sockets BUT very very clean :-)

Review 122:the food at the Lovat was excellent as were the staff,as a single girl travelling on her own I felt quite secure and safe which believe me you don't get everywhere even when in company!

Review 123:We booked three nights here, as we were visiting our family nearby. Wewere initially given Room 229, in the annexe. We were in a hurry toget to see the family so although we were very disappointed in thevery small and dingy room, we just dropped off our luggage and wentout again straight away. When we returned at 10.45pm the external doorto the annexe was locked (there was a notice on the door saying itwould be locked at 11.pm) so we had to go into the main building, up acouple of flights of stairs, along various corridors and then down acouple of very narrow and steep flights to gain access to the room.Once we began to unpack and take in the surroundings, it becameobvious that this is The Hotel That Time Forgot. It has not beenrefurbished for decades, the fittings, decorations and furnishings areextremely shabby. We had a terrible night's sleep...the mattresseswere lumpy and we could feel the springs...the should have been in askip! The pillows were old, cheap, flat and hard. During the night andvery early the next morning there was a lot of noise from the roomabove...the floorboards were creaking loudly every time the occupantmoved around. The final straw was the next morning when we tried touse the bath...the cold tap knob came off in my hand. The bathroomfittings consisted of a toilet, pedestal washbasin and a bath withshower over. The tiling, shower screen and sealant around the bathwere mouldy, the door into the bathroom would not stay closed as thelocking mechanism was broken. We complained bitterly and demandedanother room. We were then offered the choice of two other biggerrooms in the annexe 230 and 233. We decided to take 233, after thelovely staff offered to swap the mattresses from 230. The second andthird nights were better, but the quality of the bedding, curtains anddecor were just as bad. We paid £230 for three nights in this dump, which is an insult to the reputation of Best Western.

Review 124:The staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was reasonable.Wifi was ok.

Review 125:Dismal single room, aged shower and bathroom. Floors that creaked noisily all through the building and all through the night as other guests went to their rooms.

Review 126:Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. Good restaurant and excellent breakfast once, mediocre second time.

Review 127:We stayed 2 nights and were very disappointed with the room. It was tiny, very hot, the carpets were frayed and rumpled. The bed squeaked every time you moved. It was the worst 2 nights sleep we have had.

Review 128:We had a family lunch for 30 in a private room and the meal was excellent and service really good

Review 129:Terrible noise during 11pm - 7 am, I know this droning, rumbling noise was NOT HEARD in our friends room! but , most annoying in room 202. NO LIFT.

Review 130:Room, Bed & bathroom, were good, we had high tea and it was very good.

Review 131:There was no lounge in which to relax. Sitting areas were restricted to bars and dining room. There was a noisy wedding party below our room on the Saturday night, with music until the early hours.

Review 132:Location and parking was good. Enjoyed our meals and found plenty of choice on the menu.

Review 133:Lack of vegetarian choices for dinner but if you speak to them beforehand they will try to accommodate. Poor decor, tired rooms and carpet had wrinkles in it.

Review 134:It was an ideal location for us. Staff were friendly and it was fairly quiet.
