Reviews for New County Hotel
Review 1:Black mould around bathroom window, flaking/peeling bathroom ceiling, Fixed hand wash lotion in the shower and body wash fixed to the hand basin. Thick layer of dust on top of curtains and cream curtains greying with dust. Un-notified event directly beneath us creating noise. To the point you could hear the comedians "F'ing this and that", Dirty stair and hallway carpets, internet no being available on top floor. Very limited parking, about 6 cars. Adjacent room clearly had contractors in and chatting noisily and playing radio at 05;20 a little irritating. Restaurant currently closed, breakfast service only... Really not sure where these ratings come from.
Review 2:Cancelling the second night. Staff helpful but I do feel sorry for them. Was offered an alternative room but in light of the room I'd been given and that the room was not in an alternative hotel, I declined.
Review 3:location very central. Staff v. helpful, after a heavy fall of snow and there being no taxis available they took it upon themselves to get me to the station for my train, exceptionally kind.! Public areas modern clean and welcoming. Rooms a little dated but warm, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there next time I visit Perth.
Review 4:Limited free parking if there midweek, hotel a tad dated in parts, small TV which was high up on wall.
Review 5:Central location, price, breakfast, warm room, comfy beds, friendly staff, free parking in car park next to hotel after 6pm on Saturday.
Review 6:Corridors and stairwells , Dark, dank, dismal, dated, paint work so old it was yellow , desperately in need of a paint job and new carpet , three flights of very steep stairs and no lifts. Curtains in bedroom very dirty.
Review 7:Location, central to the city. Rooms clean and tidy with the exception of the curtains.
Review 8:In desperate need of refurbishment, upkeep and soundproofing.. A little attention to outside areas also necessary especially bin location and car park...
Review 9:Overall ok and convenient location
Review 10:Toilet was clean and new but sink was blokes and shower was leaking cheap quailty there are too many stairs and also was dangurious.
Review 11:Staff was nice our room had issues so they changed without any hesitation. Breakfast was more than enough and good quality. It is very close to train and bus station also high street was 2 mins walk.
Review 12:The receptionist reeked of cigarettes.
Review 13:The most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on! My single room was wee but had everything I needed. Incredible value for money. The hotel car park has only a few spaces but another car park is right opposite so parking's no issue at all.
Review 14:My wife & I have stayed in the hotel twice before. This time when we arrived we were asked to pay as soon as we checked in,this has never happened before. We were also told we could not have anything to eat as the chef has walked out. We went out the next day when we came back there had been no housekeeping in our room again this has never happened before. I am afraid to say I ordered scrambled eggs for breakfast & they came out like a half cooked omelette which I could not eat. A sorry tale for this nice hotel , I afraid this will be our last visit.
Review 15:Couldn't get in till three. We were sent to a room that hadn't been cleaned. Then waited 5 minutes till we got another room. Did notice it was better than the one we were allocated. 4/5 parking spaces so if you are later you won't get a space.
Review 16:Really close to town centre. Lovely clean sheets and towels. Breakfast was good.
Review 17:My room was above/beside a boiler. Unbearably hot and air conditioning didn't work. Felt ill with the heat. Disgraceful that I paid money for such awful conditions. I made a complaint the next day at reception and was told the manager would contact me. I am still waiting.
Review 18:Limited parking spaces for customers - you are likely to use pay and display on the street. I don't mind older style rooms, but I have to say the beds were very uncomfortable, broken even. Maybe I was just unlucky with the room.
Review 19:In the heart of Perth, a short walk from the river, and at a very reasonable price. The breakfast was very good, staff were very friendly, I would definitely be prepared to return to this hotel.
Review 20:Staff were great, really accommodating as we arrived earlier than expected. Nice old style building, it had character rather than a cardboard-box feel.
Review 21:Room stiflingly hot overnight, someone in the hotel must know where the off switch for the heating is! Windows open and aircon on freezing to compensate for the heating on full during storm Frank!
Review 22:Very good price for this mid week shopping break, excellent breakfast, clean room and comfy bed.
Review 23:Had a work night out in the city centre, this hotel was perfectly located for a short stumble home, night porter was very friendly and receptionist happy to help when we arrived. Good breakfast in the morning as well.
Review 24:Room was very very hot, had to sleep with air conditioning on I December!
Review 25:Great sized room in a centrally located hotel. Friendly staff who arranged a late check out and looked after our luggage while we went shopping.
Review 26:The mediocre reviews that nearly put me off. It is not and doesn't pretend to be a 5star hotel. What it is though is a very comfortable hotel at an amazing price. We will be back.
Review 27:Excellent friendly and helpful staff, in reception and bar.
Review 28:Nothing seriously wrong but overall the decor was tired, the plumbing somewhat dated and the bar usually empty so no atmosphere.
Review 29:Staff were very friendly, breakfast was excellent and hotel very well sited for city centre.
Review 30:Old hotel, although have made upgrade efforts some parts a bit worn however one has to take onto account the cost of staying here and it suited my purpose, was happy enough.
Review 31:Convenient, cost, acceptable.
Review 32:Hotel in poor condition staff had a could not care attitude young polish? Lad at reception even had a hoodie on no chance of a drink at bar when we came in at 11pm as no bar man or night porter to serve you
Review 33:Hotel was central for town and railway station
Review 34:We were above the function suite and there was an event on. Couldnt sleep for noise of music and dj. Think we should have been told this on arrival and moved to another room.
Review 35:Hotel was very clean, food was lovely.
Review 36:Room modern but a bit small. Toilet very small. Breakfast could do with more fresh fruit options as only had grapefruit segments.
Review 37:Modern deco . Very welcoming and friendly staff.
Review 38:Parking is not great and all surrounding car parks were full
Review 39:Excellent value for money well located. It is not luxurious but you get what you pay for. Lovely breakfast and no problems.
Review 40:Food arrived -steak was under cooked amd smelled odd.muchrooms were a mixed batch of hot and cold so obviously microwaved -was to tierd to send or try to explain why i was not happy
Review 41:Staff were nice
Review 42:Very noisey inside hotel. Doors banging from 7.30am onwards. Next to bed was pipes in wall for water, sounded like a waterfall when shower used next door. There was a child running about and screaming/crying from early on next door. Needs noise proofing done in hotel.
Review 43:Lovely breakfast. Bathroom okay but cold. Room was fine for price we paid. Excellent location and staff friendly.
Review 44:Dirty room, chipped sink in bathroom, in need of complete renovation. My wife got her car blocked in by another guest and when she asked if it could be moved she was offered the guests car keys to move the car herself. The breakfast was disgusting I am afraid it was not a chef who cooked the scrambled egg it was rubber.
Review 45:Sorry other than location hotel is like faulty towers
Review 46:Decor between the rooms was tired. Very little parking.
Review 47:Modern reception, room was big, clean and comfortable. Excellent restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price.
Review 48:Very dated. Smelt of mound and chip fat. Big cracks all over the bathroom floor. Window didn't close, which meant there was lots of noise from outside. Tv remote control was absolutely filthy too. Would not return again.
Review 49:Parking it's a joke I couldn't use my car as I loose my space and they said they would refund all parking but that would mean going back and forth and not enjoying my holiday
Review 50:They moved us to a better room and they was no problem with it
Review 51:nothing to complain about, coffee at breakfast wasnt to my taste I prefer very strong but it serves the masses..
Review 52:A business stay minutes from the train station.. room was warm and cosy. spacious with nice bathroom and full size bath.. on 2nd floor quiet and at the back of the hotel.. restaurant was lovely, delicious food and great service.. breakfast was hot and plentiful. I have booked again for next week.. :)
Review 53:Broken floorboards under the carpet which could be fixed. Bed was not very comfortable and would have been better if it was a King size instead of a Standard Double bed. TV was too small for the room and the channels were all messed up!
Review 54:Location & Price
Review 55:was in room 208 outside window has flu coming up past from kitchen.making noise alltime/ water tank sounded like hairdyer all night.woke up every hour wasnt good i would stay again due to location but not room 208 sorry
Review 56:location was perfect reception tidy clean room was ok food was very good value for money bar staff very pleasant. price was good
Review 57:The rooms need updated as it was like staying in the 1990's. Breakfast was not good either. Would not be staying here again.
Review 58:staff were friendly & location was very good.
Review 59:Need more sockets in bedrooms to cope for mobiles, laptops etc .
Review 60:The staff were attentive , courteous and friendly without being intrusive. Very well run establishment.
Review 61:was on the second floor at the back there was 2 rooms separated by fire of as soon as you opened it there was such a smell of damp the bathroom smelled of pee there was a stain on the quilt cover also its like they missed this room from getting refurbished was so disappointed was even thinking of coming home and we are not a fussy people
Review 62:the location was fab staff were friendly
Review 63:No bad experience at all. Some parts of the hotel badly need a lick of paint.
Review 64:Everything worked. No shoddy workmanship. Shower brilliant.Immaculate. Lovely staff. First ever visit. Will return in the future.
Review 65:My Wife & I stayed 2 Nights , The Staff were Friendly & Helpful , Food Was Excellent , Room was Comfortable & Clean , As its a Old Hotel we made allowances but could find no Fault with it and would have no hesitation staying there again
Review 66:Rooms needing refurbishment but reception, bar and restaurant areas lovely. For price paid cannot fault it
Review 67:Location, pleasant staff, value for money, clean
Review 68:Lady at reception went out of her way to help me when I needed an iron. All guest irons were already in use. So she brought me the one from staff room used by the staff. It was a small thing, but she went out of her way for me, and it was much appreciated. It's the little touches that mean the most.
Review 69:Nothing to dislike.
Review 70:Very good location, five minutes walk from the railway station, the staff are very friendly and help full, this is a very good hotel at a very good price, we would stay here again.
Review 71:The staff were good and the continental breakfast delivered to our room was good. Being close to the city centre was good as my wife is disabled and the peaceful atmosphere was appreciated by both of us.
Review 72:Not a lot of room for parking, especially when it was full of workers vans and parking across the road is only for three hours.
Review 73:Staff very friendly and willing to help in any way. Meals and service good
Review 74:The stairs and the cleanliness of this area to reach bedrooms. Staff could be more thorough when cleaning bedroom.
Review 75:Location was good, easy reach for shopping. Managed to fine a parking space in allocated area.
Review 76:Nothing to dislike really although the building looks a little "tired".
Review 77:Very close to city centre and easy to access. Staff helpful. Facilities all we needed for our trip.
Review 78:Not a "bad experience" but the restaurant was given over to a private party on one of the nights of our stay. Also, some of the flat surfaces in the large bar/lounge area on the ground floor required dusting.
Review 79:Two or three of the staff we encountered were really good. Friendly, helpful and provided very good service. We occupied a double room with an ante room attached and whilst the decor looked a bit tired, it was clean and everything worked. We considered it excellent value for money.
Review 80:Having to stay on top floor with a baby having to carry all necessary equipment to top of hotel◀:-(
Review 81:Nice and clean, warm and comfortable. Friendly and very helpful staff.
Review 82:The room was too hot. There was air conditioning but you don't want that noise when your are trying to sleep and it would also have become too cold. Simple instructions on how to use the air con would have been helpful. Hotel decor a bit tired but bedroom was good.
Review 83:The room was good for our needs. Bathroom was very good and clean. Quality of food at breakfast was excellent. Acid test - would we let baby play on the floor? Yes!
Review 84:lack of a good nights sleep, the room 101 over looked a very noisy street that didn't quiet down until after 2am.
Review 85:The staff were excellent couldn't do enough to help, and the food was very good
Review 86:Room too warm even though radiator not on, too noisy if window open. Free parking advertised but limited so had to pay for parking.
Review 87:Able to walk into Perth. Hotel nice and modern downstairs and good breakfast.
Review 88:Car parking was a mess. If everyone packed properly there would be room for residents cars. Strange thing to say in October but room was really hot!! Even with air con unit.
Review 89:Reception staff and bar staff were very friendly and efficient.
Review 90:Breakfast on a Saturday finished at 9.30am. This was particularly odd as the blackboard outside the hotel stated that breakfast was available until midday. Clearly there was a chef on the premises all morning, so why not serve breakfast to residents until 10am or 10.30am at the weekend? When I queried this I was told that walk in customers were paying for breakfast. Surely the bed & breakfast customers are also 'paying for it'. Would not stay here again purely because of this.
Review 91:Large clean room. Friendly bar staff.
Review 92:All the steps we had to climb to the bedroom 40 steps in all. The bedroom window was only a few feet from a horrible wall which was part of the building so that was all we could see, apart from huge pipe heating pipe and it made an awful noise as it kept coming on and off all the time .
Review 93:the staff were very pleasant and helpfull
Review 94:Hotel is a bit dated but you get what you pay for, but there is nothing wrong with it, it's clean and tidy
Review 95:Ever so friendly staff, could not fault it one bit. The bar is also excellent value for money, the food was brilliant
Review 96:Breakfast very poor, guests constantly having to ask for butter, juice, coffee, glasses etc. Fry very greasy in part and unappealing. Hard poached eggs on un buttered (water soggy) toast. Complimentary tea/coffee in room not re-stocked, again had to ask
Review 97:was on 2nd floor and it was very tight spiral; stair up to both floors other than that fine on and yes wi-fl in room very hit and miss
Review 98:staff friendly, nice and comfy stay
Review 99:Not enough parking as the hotel's carpark was full we had to use the pay and stay one. The only other problem was the food for breakfast, it was lukewarm and served on cold plates, couldn't eat most of it.
Review 100:The staff were friendly and for an overnight stay the room done the job.
Review 101:My daughter and I stayed recently at the hotel and we found the hotel great!! Very comfortable we had a fab sleep and food was really nice . Staff were lovely too. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Perth .
Review 102:Nothing to complain about
Review 103:Carla and Tina very helpful, polite and friendly, a credit to the company. Room and breakfast good. Evening meal delicious. Chef has a real passion for food. Well done to all staff.
Review 104:Poor parking. Bath was difficult to work. Television was small. Very very warm room. Decor needing refreshed in bathroom. Hard wafer thin bed.
Review 105:Was spacious.good storage.friendly staff.very clean.
Review 106:This is quite an old but clean hotel. The room facilities were adequate. However, corridors could do with a lick of paint. My only real complaint was the lack of sound insulation. I was woken up by people in the corridor outside my room, at 3am as their noise travelled through my room's thin door. I could also hear my next door neighbour's phone conversation. Any refurbishment of this hotel should take this into consideration. Otherwise, this hotel offered good value for money.
Review 107:I really liked the friendly and polite staff at this Hotel. They were amongst the most courteous I have ever met. The fresh cooked breakfast was also very good indeed. The Hotel's central location was good too for visiting local pubs and restaurants.
Review 108:Wi-fi expect in the public areas was non existent. There seemed to be a terrible smell in the corridors. The shower pressure was terrible the bed creaked. I could here clearly hear the people in the room next door. The night porter had no knowledge of how to serve drinks at the bar. Serious lack of investment from hotel owner!
Review 109:The waitress who was working the night I stayed she is a credit to this hotel
Review 110:It wasn't disabled accessible, could use a lift.
Review 111:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was great. Highly recommend to anyone for great value, service and meal
Review 112:obviously been upgraded but still some tired bits , handrail loose on wall in passageway for example . also breakfast tables not cleared did not make the place look very good
Review 113:Great location , nice breakfast, nice staff
Review 114:The stairs. Had a meal in the dining room and wasn't great, one of our party ordered a burger which had to be returned as I think they forgot to put any meat in it. But it was deducted from our bill which was fine. Rooms a little tired.
Review 115:The hotel is central. Nice reception and bar area.
Review 116:Not there long enough to form any adverse opinions.
Review 117:Staff we're extremely helpful. We were going to a wedding and got our room early. City hotel so parking poor. Barman prepared to service the short stay car park where my car was up till 6pm.
Review 118:Staff very friendly and helpful, hotel clean and comfortable, bedroom nice and big with both bath and shower, breakfast was excellent, good choice of food both full Scottish and continental staff continually restocking breakfast table.
Review 119:Although the reception and broadcasting room was lovely the room we had was very dated , the bed was really uncomfortable and the bathroom wasn't very nice, cracked tiles and very tired looking.
Review 120:The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good
Review 121:The hotel was shabby and dirty in places. There was no lift and the staircase had to be negotiated carefully as it was a spiral especially if you were carrying luggage.
Review 122:Within a five minute walk of all Perth had to offer. On site parking.
Review 123:No bad experience
Review 124:Breakfast was excellent. Service good. Lounge bar let down by having specials board the same menu over 4night's stay. No arrangements for gluten free meals so never ate there in evening. would have done if they had catered as they should be for coeliacs. Also supplied my own bread for breakfast bought at nearby tesco store. We did enjoy our overall stay for the price we paid. Good value for money
Review 125:Location was great 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station and right in the town centre hotel was ideal lovely down stairs in the bar, restaurant and reception hall ways and rooms could do with a revamp but was clean and towels changed daily bed was comfortable room a bit noisy from the main street traffic but would definitely stay at this hotel again
Review 126:Stairs dangerous. Room 101 has a sloping floor and a very small ensuite with tiny shower sqeezed in behind door. Toilet virtually fitted under the sink. One teabag. In dining room at breakfast had to ask for everything, glasses, bowls, salt, eggs were undercooked. Staff seemed to be struggling even though the room was virtually empty.
Review 127:Front entrance and lobby area nice and staff pleasant enough and tried to help.
Review 128:The tea and coffee making facilities were poor with only two teabags in the room it said in the welcome pack if we wanted more to ask but we did not want to keep asking for more so we bought teabags we did ask for extra sugar which we were given with no problem but they were removed from our room when it was cleaned the next day.
Review 129:The staff at the hotel were very helpful and were polite and friendly at all times. The room was clean and had an adequate amount of wardrobe and storage space. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The dining room was clean and the breakfast was good and had a good selection on both the cooked and continental buffet.
Review 130:Private car parking very small and never available. A lot of public car parking around, but free only during the evening and the night till 8:00 AM
Review 131:cleanliness I'm italian and I like food, but I must say that the restaurant food is excellent!
Review 132:Omg the breakfast was total fiasco the worst ever!!! They said everyonecame in nearly all at same time most people had to sit for approx 40mins before we got served , no fruit left no bread rolls no yogurt, imso sorry but we left before we could have a proper breakfast not good, very sad to have to say
Review 133:The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 134:When someone in the next room had a phone conversation I could overhear him.
Review 135:Comfortable bed. Not high price for a single room in a hotel. Good breakfast and nice staff.
Review 136:Looking tired and shabby from the outside, peeling paint, dirty windows. First impression was receptionist (apologetically) on phone for 5 mins. Offered Rm105; immaculate but dark with a tiny window looking at a wall and aircon unit. Rooms at front nicer but very noisy despite double glazing, (My choice compromise - not staff fault). Breakfasts were unpleasant with scrambled eggs like rubber and shoe leather kippers. WIFI hopeless on 1st floor. Puzzle for me is Booking.com suggesting this was the last room - 'going fast' but there were 3 at least 3 empty rooms? Suggest everyone just uses local tourist info offices or a phone book.
Review 137:Place was clean, well decorated and was relatively central to the town. Staff accommodated my ask for a change when I didn't like the room offered - thank you.
