Reviews for Jim McGee's

Review 1:Not an issue for us but there is no breakfast which might be an issue for some.

Review 2:Well placed for our early morning ferry and the room was spotless and comfortable.

Review 3:No breakfast but didn't mind as price is very reasonable

Review 4:This B &b is possibly the nicest, cleanest, friendliest B&b myself and my partner have stayed in,Beautiful rooms with tea coffee facilities, there's a beautiful sitting room also for guests to use,Jim the owner works behind the bar, great character, we had a brilliant time with him and he was very obliging, Will definitely be back.Would highly recommend, and location is centre of town ,perfect.

Review 5:The bed we stayed in the first night ... after complaining the super friendly staff moved us to another room immediatly. This was 100% better.

Review 6:Location, friendly staff. Traditional Irish Pub... cozy rooms... free WiFi

Review 7:The only negative thing I do have to say now is your prices are a bit expensive to say you's are out of the town a bit and don't get breakfast with the rate use are asking. If ya even knocked a tenner or that off the price I'm sure I'd be visiting wexford more often ;-)

Review 8:I like how it is so cosy and has that home feeling inside :)

Review 9:Staff went above the call of duty rang around 4 or 5 places to check if they had music on night we were staying .Room 4 was so comfortable we were gonna stay longer only for work commitments .

Review 10:Having to check in at the pub downstairs late at night and pub was very busy at the time.

Review 11:Had a family room, 1 double bed and two singles on the third floor. Even though located above a pub, very little noise could be heard. Very clean room, nice bathroom.

Review 12:As we booked in ,at the bar, we were asked for payment.room was stuffy on arrival so we left window open for our stay, wed night we arrived back to bar and lovely lady on bar made us feel so welcome n nice friendly locals.on Thur night we came back to bar and both man and girl on bar were so rude.hard for them to take a drunks order and made no eye contact at all.only were interested in serving locals. Will never pay this pub another visit.

Review 13:A lovely country atmosphere. The owners obviously take a lot of care to make this place warm welcoming and comfortable. The furnishings were tasteful. We had a nice chat with Jim at the bar

Review 14:Room could have been warmer during the day but it was ok and I was out a lot anyway

Review 15:Friendly helpful staff, lovely room, central position an great old gashioned bar full of locals drinking beer and betting on horses: irish exoticism and great fun

Review 16:The place was absolutely spotless and the host was warm and friendly and professional. Will difinatly be staying here when I visit Wexford town again.

Review 17:Duvet was far too thick so I was too hot & so hardly slept. No breakfast offered you had to go elsewhere. I had to pay cash on arrival, no option to pay using my card despite booking.com saying I could so I then had to go find an ATM

Review 18:Central location, clean room with TV & tea/coffee facilities. Nice bathroom

Review 19:The thinness of floorboards between room and pub. We could hear everything that was going on below us.

Review 20:The fact that Jim Mc Gee's was so close to everything. All we had to do was park our car in the car park and walk everywhere. Extremely convenient.

Review 21:Location great in centre of wexford , lovely old traditional pub next door but can't hear any noise when in rooms next door, also lovely and clean with very helpful housekeeping staff , will definitely stay again.

Review 22:The rooms and public areas were really clean, well decorated and comfortable. The bar was nice to go to after the concert we went to, which was the reason for our trip. The outside areas were really lovely

Review 23:some noise from pub but stopped at 12.0pm so not a real problem

Review 24:friendly staff-excellent rooms/comfortable beds/good supply of teaetc plenty of space as smoker the smoking area was great treat

Review 25:It would be nicer if there was a ramp rather than steps in the room, which could present a problem for someone with disabilities.

Review 26:We were delighted to receive a lovely quiet non-smoking room for our stay. The bed was very comfortable and there was a really good shower in the bathroom.

Review 27:bed in triple room, was very uncomfortable, slanted and had like a hole in middle. didn't rest very much.

Review 28:being downtown by ocean and over a local pub with history, was a very different experience. Had a great night cap :)

Review 29:Upon arrival our rooms were mixed up and seemed to be a lot of confusion around checking in and out. Some of our group were made pay on arrival and others were not asked at all.

Review 30:Betty was very helpful while organising our stay and the location was great.

Review 31:The pooperty is not in the centre of town and it has a steep climb up to the same and not suitable for any body with breathing problems.

Review 32:Very clean and comfortable.

Review 33:Nothing. It was great

Review 34:The room was very well appointed with a nice TV and great shower. The bed was comfy and the modern and new style made the stay all the more enjoyable. Plenty of car parking for guests and a great pub next door owned by Jim.

Review 35:Every thing every one so nice made very welcome anything we needed just had to ask the town only a few mins down the road over a pub people all very friendly dont do breakfast but have a list of places to go will go back again

Review 36:No food

Review 37:Brilliant place to stop. Accommodation was comfortable. Bar had fantastic atmosphere and staff were very welcoming. Only downside was no food but plenty of places to eat nearby.

Review 38:There was nothing to dislike! Our room was perfect, the staff were amazing and the location is perfect! We had a great selection of restaurants and shops literally around the corner. And if you just fancy a drink and a cracking sunny beer garden you don't even need to leave the pub!

Review 39:Everything was better than we had hoped! We were welcomed with open arms and the staff were great help!

Review 40:only one thing was that it didn`t serve breakfast

Review 41:the staff were extremely helpful, the location was just right and comfort and cleanliness was excellent also very accommodating, would visit again,

Review 42:Visited during summer so had window open, room was at front and over front entrance to pub. Did hear somewhat noisy patrons but we had brought ear plugs that worked great. Didn't spoil visit at all, had a great time and would go back.

Review 43:Good location. Nice to have parking right behind building for a in town setting (would have been better if labeled for hotel, had another companies name on wall). Lovely entrance and sitting room, rooms upstairs were also very nice.

Review 44:We were woken at 1.00 am and at 4.30 am by men play fighting, shouting and using offensive language. The landlord came up and threatened them with the police if they persisted and after this they stopped. However, although it was not the landlords fault and he handled the situation well, I was very frightened and upset thinking that the men might crash through the door. As a consequence, I could not wait to leave despite the excellent accomodation.

Review 45:Customer service was excellent.

Review 46:We stayed in room 12 and altho we had a great time we where nesr side the exit doot wich kept banging alot when lots of ones passing thru this door

Review 47:The rooms very clean close to towm lovey beer garden leading to lovely bar next doot. Will be bac

Review 48:Didn't like entering the bar on arrival, would recommend to management to provide a service desk at the front of pub building

Review 49:Room and facilities were very comfortable. Location excellent

Review 50:No wifi in our room, loud and noisy pub, lots of drunk people hanging out front. Screaming and yelling in the hall at 1am. Pub served no food

Review 51:Big room, clean

Review 52:Quality room and the pub friendly down to earth local too run by Jim McGee - we don't mind the hustle and bustle of a pub so enjoyed our stay. Nice setting just above town centre, walking to it easy. They have some discount tie-ups with nearby local cafes for breakfast, top places too!

Review 53:The only down side was that there was no breakfast facilities.

Review 54:The room was compact but the place was so quiet despite there being other guests there. No disturbance at all....had a great night's sleep.

Review 55:No food on site was a big disappointment, especially no breakfast, if food was available ,this inn would be just perfect

Review 56:Friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. Room was nice and bright

Review 57:We had kettle tea bags etc but no water to fill the kettle. Our room was beside smoking area at night we got strong smell of smoke from the smoking garden. As non smokers this was not too pleasant.

Review 58:Hotel was very clean. Staff on arrival was very helpful

Review 59:They do not do food. You have to go out for breakfast-not obvious where.

Review 60:Lovely room, very comfortable bed-I don't usually sleep well on the first night, but did here. Very friendly staff. Don't be put off by having to pick up the key from the pub next door. The guesthouse is quite different.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:The room was nice and the bar was really friendly. Spent the evening with the locals and had a brilliant time. Caroline the barmaid was great and the place was very hospitable. No breakfast but told us of a great place - Country Bistro in Taghmon 10 minutes drive away

Review 63:Room directly over bar..some noise...however it closes at midnight so not a real problem

Review 64:This is part of a pub..so good company if required Friendly staff

Review 65:They don't do breakfast but recommend places to eat it would be the icing on the cake if they did do it a

Review 66:We liked everything about our stay and will be returning

Review 67:The cooler had broken so could not have my first pint of guiness in anirish pub!

Review 68:Proper irish bar. Good entertainment on the first night. Rooms wereclean and tidy. Betty the owner was a lovely and helpful lady.

Review 69:The only negative was that there weren't any staff members other than the bartender to help us to the room, get us our keys, etc.

Review 70:We were worried that the pub would be loud but it was not a problem (remember, Irish pubs close close to midnight anyways) especially since we ended up joining the party! We ate dinner elsewhere and were pleasantly surprised with how busy and fun the pub was to return home to!

Review 71:The noise from the bar until early morning was loud in bedrooms and also could smell cigarette smoke in my room.

Review 72:The location and value for money was the most positive.

Review 73:Very happy with our stay quaint building beautiful entrance hall. Nice decor and vintage theme very pleasing to the eye. Room same, spotless throughout loads of room between beds lovely bed linen, good paintwork and nice bright clean carpet. Bathroom spotless. Would highly recomend a stay here if visiting wexford.

Review 74:B and B without the b... It's down the road..rooms are clean but this is a lively pub ...noisy ,that's not a complaint but it's important to know!

Review 75:Good location

Review 76:Stuffy, narrow corridors, noisy from both pub exit below & bedrooms overhead, no assistance with luggage to 1st floor, no breakfast available on the premises, widows restricting straps made it barely possible to get any ventilation, very over priced

Review 77:Wexford is not a town I would recommend- I think it's been hit hard by the recession. Almost nowhere to eat when we arrived at 8pm in summer. Off licence staff very helpful in directing us to Thomas Moores which was reasonable. Happy to leave town next morning.

Review 78:Pub style accommodation. Great if you want good value budget accommodation. Check in easy.

Review 79:In centre of town. Thought parking might be difficult but shown spaces round the back. Different entrance from pub one so didn't have to go through the bar. Lots of restaurants closed on Mondays but still lots of choice.

Review 80:Don't really approve of these websites that ask you for negative comments about your experiences. Everyone will then try to think of something negative when they would generally have been quite happy!!

Review 81:Only booked 2 single rooms with a mate, but we both ended up with twin rooms for the same price. Nice little touch to have that bit of extra room.

Review 82:Other guest's were very loud in the early hours of the day (4am) and some noise from the pub.

Review 83:The room was large, clean, airy, very good decor, good bedding.

Review 84:no breakfast , no fan in toilet which was extreemly small but spotless as was the room. room very stuffy warm .staff brought little fan but didnt improve much

Review 85:friendly cleaning staff. good value ,short walk to town

Review 86:Stayed there recently with a group of friends and couldn't fault it. Great value for money, good location and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would have no problem recommending it.

Review 87:The walls are paper thin and we were on the top floor with four rooms of stag parties, which was fine because we were out at night anyway but the staff were very rude and accused us of causing noise and told us we were on a last warning, they said a couple on the same floor had complained about the noise but in my opinion it was poor judgement to put a couple on the same floor as a gang of girls and a group of stags especially considering how thin the walls were. Staff made us feel very uncomfortable from that point onwards.

Review 88:The rooms were very clean and comfortable, fresh towel and tea and coffee are provided,

Review 89:not having a breakfast service was a bit frustrating but we found a nice little bistro in the town after a early morning trek.

Review 90:comfortable accommodation

Review 91:No breakfast, though I thought there was supposed to be one.

Review 92:Really nice room, good location and they let us check out a half-hour late. Fun that it was located above a grand old pub and great there was no noise coming up from it!

Review 93:Having a room above the bar was a mistake, you could hear the bar noise. And very noisy people staying there didn't get to sleep until 3.30am so not recommended.

Review 94:Facilities were very good and better than some hotels we had stayed in.

Review 95:Check in and out bit funny , you have to check in in the pub, it was loud and busy when we checked in and , no info given about location of rooms when we checked in, just heres your keys and wheres your money?

Review 96:The Location was ideal for us, we liked that it was just off the pedestrian area. Big bedrooms , large rooms with a double and single bed, separate bathroom and wardrobe area at back of the building, we were in room 6.

Review 97:Checking in at the pub was a little confusing. My tablet's battery was dead so I couldn't access my reservation information. They seemed a little confused and it took a few minutes for them to figure out the reservation. The wifi signal was also very weak.

Review 98:The room was spacious and clean, with a kettle and tea/coffee provided. All in all, very comfortable, and a short walk to the train and bus station.

Review 99:Very clean in a nicely laid out house. Our initial room was next to a very noisy group but when I asked for a different room the staff immediately moved us and couldn't have been more helpful. Nice local pub and the bedroom was quiet.

Review 100:Stomping footsteps above us through the night.

Review 101:Cheerfull helpfull staff. That our room was cleaned out daily and that we could pretty much come and go as we pleased. Also the cleanliness of our room

Review 102:Nothing.

Review 103:The look of the room when we opened the door. The comfortable bed and fresh white linen and towels. The biscuits with the coffee & tea was a nice extra, as were the wrapped glasses.

Review 104:All was perfect. Not having breakfast was fine for us. But they do recommend places close and offer discounts. We went to a lovely little café a block away.

Review 105:Could not have asked for more. We arrived by bus and reserved a room knowing it was up the hill......Not a bad walk up. And worth it!!!! Rooms were very clean and comfortable, pub very friendly.

Review 106:No food available but plenty of restauraunts and takeaways situated within a five minute walk.

Review 107:Staff were very friendly and let us check in early as we were camping nearby the previous night and had a small child with us. Room was clean and comfortable. Overall great value for money and will be back again.

Review 108:Everything was fine. No complaints.

Review 109:Allowed an early check in as we travelled overnight. Great staff in the pub next door. Very clean and comfy room. Very short walk to town centre. Loved it.

Review 110:The shower head in our room could do with replacement or descaling, but that's a very minor complaint!

Review 111:Great location, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We asked for a room away from the bar, as we found it a little noisy last time we stayed, and this time it was so peaceful and comfortable! We'll be back.

Review 112:Was just a little bit too warm in the rooms! But that's it

Review 113:Loved our stay in Jim mc gees, myself and 9 friends stayed there this weekend, staff so friendly and beds were so comfy! Lovely atmosphere and the place was spotless! Would recommend to Anyone :-)

Review 114:Where jim mc gees was not good for us ,too many hills to reach our accomadation.

Review 115:loved the venue ,one problem my husband has a heart problem and there was 4 flights of stairs .also it would be good if they did breakfast as you have to go down the hill to find somewhere to eat.

Review 116:The noise above the room. You could hear every step above us. The shower strength was poor.

Review 117:Was cheap and clean bed was comfortable. Was in good location.

Review 118:Nothing really.

Review 119:Had a 30th birthday close by on New Years Eve. Jim McGees offered a lovely, cost effective place to stay. Great, as it's near the pubs/ clubs in Wexford town.

Review 120:No parking around pub, terrible smell out of room(Sewage) room very cold.no breakfast facilities.

Review 121:The bar was nice and drink very reasonably priced, limited though... couldn't get an Irish coffee and no berries cider.the bed was extremely comfortable.

Review 122:Very convienient to where our christmas show was and the town. The girl who looked after the rooms was very helpfull and kept the rooms spic and span.We will use it as our base when in Wexford next.

Review 123:no breakfast although it is available a short stool away with a discount for guests

Review 124:staff very friendly good value for money good location would stay again

Review 125:pushing a buggy up the hills ,,,,,very noisy, floor boards in rooms overhead squeaking all night , wrecked leaving from no sleep ,but would go back ........

Review 126:was lovely room , spotless and comfortable beds ,and very good value ,will be back

Review 127:no sky news in bedrooms i didnt mind but my partner missed sky news on the hour every hour but he got over it we werent there to watch tv.

Review 128:lovely place spotless clean lovely staff can not fault this place.

Review 129:Great accommodation in an old traditional Irish pub. Although we were told to expect some noise it was very minimal and did not bother us at all. Located centrally, parking was easily found nearby. The beds are very comfortable and the room and bathroom very clean.

Review 130:I couldn't operate the shower. The bedside radio couldn't get reception. The adaptors were a bit tricky, being not tied. They worked of course, the main thing.

Review 131:You deal with staff in the bar to pay and obtain room keys. The bar is open most of the time. Morning to Night. The room was peaceful and quiet.

Review 132:myself and my husband recently attended a wedding in the town and stayed in this lovely b&b it was perfect for our needs, clean, comfortably and reasonably priced also it was very central, would highly recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Review 133:It was a little off putting having to go into pub to collect the keys....but that's only because I was a lady travelling on my own...its a lovely old pub and if I had company I probably would have stayed for a drink!

Review 134:The location was excellent....3mins walk from Opera House...everything you would need for an overnight stay in a beautiful town. Really excellent central accommodation.
