Reviews for Best Western Queens Hotel

Review 1:Decor is dated but hardly important for comfort.

Review 2:Not the last word in decor & modernity but perfectly good hotel with great service. Excellent value for money and well located fro rail, bus & city centre shops & attractions.

Review 3:The only thing I missed was somewhere to hang a coat when wet.

Review 4:The location is excellent, right next to the bus and railway stations, but you can't hear either. Our room 412 was very comfortable (queen size bed) and spotless with windows overlooking the hills which were white with a heavy frost. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast menu had a very good choice of hot and cold, hot was served to your table. There is also a small bar and it is the only hotel with leisure facilities and a pool.

Review 5:Only problem was the food was not very warm., last time we we visited we ate a few meals as they were lovely. .maybe the chef has changed, just went out for meals, not really any good when my sister has walking difficulties. we came by bus as it was so handy for the hotel.

Review 6:Overall our stay was very good . Staff very nice and so helpful rooms ideal.pool and sauna excellent,

Review 7:noisy , bad plumbing , dirty linen and bad breakfast.

Review 8:the staff were great, very helpful, location is great, I had been before and returned because it was great the last time.

Review 9:Smallest room ever for the money charged. Not comfortable only room for 1 chair had to sit on the bed. Very disappointed. If this is what Best Western offer don't think we'll be back.

Review 10:Facilities were good, food excellent. Staff pleasant.

Review 11:Dated bathrooms, view from room looked onto run down flats. Restaurant staff either very inexperienced or abrupt and unhelpful.

Review 12:Good location and reception staff and night porter were lovely.

Review 13:Room very dated. Had to ask for suspect marks to be removed from room wall on arrival. Seated outwith restaurant and was left to cancel booking as a result. Staff didnt ask if they could do anything to help when the hotel was at fault. Kettle, trouser press and iron hadn't been electically checked for many years. Bath had big chip on edge. Shower attachment not fully fixed. I could go on and supply many photos also.

Review 14:Breakfast good

Review 15:The hotel staff were very helpful overall. This was let down by a number of things that combined to make the experience not as enjoyable as it could have been. 1. The heating was intermittent with the thermostat loose on one radiator. An electric radiator was finally given to supplement the central heating. The hose on the shower leaked causing less pressure. 2. Restaurant evening meal was tasty and well presented. Staff lacked training however. Bill given not on plate and staff standing over you waiting payment. Breakfast was satisfactory but some of staff lacked training.

Review 16:Closeness to Railway station. Reception staff very helpful.

Review 17:Not a bad experience found the room and bathroom with no heating took a while for room to warm once I turned heatin up enjoyed the stay

Review 18:The food and leisure facilities

Review 19:No hot water from shower in the evening or morning. When I told reception I was told that a lot of people must be showering at the same time. Not really good enough!!!!

Review 20:Room clean and comfortable. Pool facilities good.

Review 21:Coffee and tea making facility under tv. Pool and sauna area all needs updating. Food was of a poor standard on evening but have to say breakfast was very good.

Review 22:Room size was good. Cozy bar and friendly staff

Review 23:we enjoyed our stay sorry we had to leave a day early as husband had chest infection we made appointment for doctor on first day off our holiday Katie reception was great when we come back up she going to arrange for the 2 night we lost many thanks

Review 24:Inadequate lighting in car parking area at night. Very intimidating for a lone female walking through a very dark and quite secluded car park . Next time I will bring a torch.

Review 25:The room was very clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast.Bed very comfy.

Review 26:Hotel needed updated and refurbished..very dated, 1970's pink handbasins in public toilets..our bedroom had very comfortable bed and newish carpet but furniture basic and old, the baththough clean was chipped and the toilet pan rocked side to side

Review 27:Location and staff very friendly swimming pool very nice

Review 28:Nothing really only maybe the décor is a bit dated, but it was in good order, clean and tidy

Review 29:The Hotel was comfortably, the food very good and the staff excellent

Review 30:Some staff could be a bit more friendlier. The floorboards were so creeky in the room and you could hear throughout hotel. The room needed a bit of tlc.

Review 31:Pool was lovely and had a great breakfast. Good location

Review 32:Room was too small couldn't get up one side of the double bed because it was so near the wall. At dinner I ordered biscuits and cheese which cost £6.95 I got three mini oatcakes, not full size and three very small pieces of cheese. A few grapes and chutney, this was NOT worth £6.95. At breakfast the cooked breakfast came with tomatoes which came from a can! This was very disappointing.

Review 33:Leisure facilities

Review 34:My only complaint was the heat in the hotel through the night, but that's just a personal thing.

Review 35:Hotel was lovely and staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly.

Review 36:It says "free wifi throughout" but this is a lie. There was no wifi in my bedroom at all. From the way they responded to my enquiry ("What room are you in? Oh yes...") it's clear that this is a common problem. Skidmarks in the toilet were unfortunate, as was finding the previous occupant's card. Cleaning??? Location is horrible, in a rundown part of Perth.

Review 37:The decor is tired but the hotel is priced accordingly.

Review 38:It was good value for the money. The breakfast was good. The reception staff were welcoming and very pleasant.

Review 39:bath was tiny am 5ft 3.Room was tiny and the breakfast was 15pp!!! I would wonder if they were sprinkling 9carat gold on the sausages!! Even for the best quality of butcher meant those charges for breakfast are out of this world!!!For the room I stayed in it was bed and breakfast three star quality except without the breakfast and only two teabags in the room!!!! What were we supposed to have for the morning???? I have stayed in a hostel of more exceptional quality.

Review 40:comfort of bed and size of tv.

Review 41:Left my rayban glasses in my room phoned the next day but weren't handed in make up your own mind on that one I know I have

Review 42:Nice breakfast and decent enough spa area for the money

Review 43:The room was too warm so had to keep the window open our whole stay.

Review 44:It's a good location, staff are very helpful, and the cooked breakfast was really good. The pool is lovely aswel, will definitely be back with our 4yr old next time.

Review 45:The rooms need a makeover, they are very tired and it was the 80's last time a saw an avocado bath suite.

Review 46:The leisure facilities and location of hotel

Review 47:Room was too hot - though it is August. Hotel needs refurbishment to bring it up to standard though immaculately clean and bed was very comfortable - just a bit old fashioned and "worn".

Review 48:Staff were wonderful, friendly, courteous and obliging. Breakfast good, plenty of choice and quickly served.

Review 49:room too hot despite open window. Traffic noise and sensitive fire alarm that went off several times including 6 am one morning

Review 50:Beds very comfortable. Staff friendly and very helpful

Review 51:The menu for the evening meal is the same every day. The lift is a bit small and cramped and needs upgrading. I would prefer a choice of kippers for breakfast.

Review 52:The hotel was very conveniently located next to the rail and bus station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Food was of very good quality.

Review 53:Problems getting in at night ,rang the bell 3times nobody came i had to go along to the window of the bar a knock a few time before the barman came to let me in

Review 54:The location, staff and enjoyed the breakfast

Review 55:The hotel rooms are in need of a facelift but clean. The worst thing was the thin walls, I was kept awake by the guest in the room next to ours snoring as if he was in the room beside us! Plus the thumping and loud creaking when anyone walked down the corridor. Just a very old building and had it been a romantic night away I would have been very dissapointed. Leisure wise, the door to the sauna doesn't close so it can't heat up and the jacuzzi wasn't working.

Review 56:The swimming pool was lovely and warm and the steam room was very relaxing too. Breakfast was perfect with a large choice of cooked food plus a continental selection and polite and prompt service.

Review 57:Shower either roasting or freezing so couldnt wash my hair. Breakfast bacon was wet ant tasteless obviously kept warm for some time. Couldnt gaet a drink when we arrived back at hotel at night although it was only around 11pm. Room very noisy with traffic.

Review 58:Staff very friendly.

Review 59:As other reviewers have said room is very noisy - noise from people upstairs moving around room and from people next door talking. I was lucky and everyone was quiet by 11 and so had a good nights sleep.

Review 60:Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable and clean. Swimming pool was great especially for children. Good park just down the road and easy to get to centre of perth. Also plenty of parking.

Review 61:The manager Danielle Gibb was wonderfully attentive which is unusual for a none privately owned hotel Great Duncan Beilby

Review 62:We made a mistake with our booking on line and the hotel pulled out all the stops to help first class!!!

Review 63:Uneven floors. Room too hot. If you opened the window the noise from the traffic was excessive. Lots of noise from other guests.

Review 64:clean room. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast.

Review 65:Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Peaceful - no sounds from other guests. Really good, relaxing breakfast with luxury options and attentive service.

Review 66:No air con in room...but we live in Scotland so probably would not be used very often.

Review 67:Great hotel staff was very friendly room was good size and clean breakfast was excellent.will be back again soon thank you.

Review 68:Constant banging of room doors. None of the soft closure devices work and we were woken up sever times. As we were on holiday we didn't really expect a 0530 banging door and the person above us stomping about.

Review 69:Food was good.

Review 70:Because it was one of the only hot days in the year so far, room very stuffy and with window open the noise from the road was even louder. it was either be hot or put up with the noise

Review 71:Comfortable bed and very pleasant staff

Review 72:Rooms a bit dated décor wise but otherwise clean and comfortable.

Review 73:Breakfast service and staff were exceptional. Surprised to find gym so extensive (didn't use the gym) but made use of the pool and spa which were very nice.

Review 74:The iron in the room was not clean and stained my shirt, requiring me to but another. The room was also uncomfortably warm for the duration of that stay.

Review 75:I stayed with my best man on the night before my wedding night and every was provided as expected.

Review 76:Poor location. Hotel is run down and in desperate need of refurbishment. Floorboards creak which tend you disturb during the night. Decor and carpets need updating. Restaurant very stingy.

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:The walls of the bedrooms ar very thin and if you have noisy neighbours it can be very disturbing

Review 79:Close to the Railway and bus stations and the city centre.

Review 80:The rooms ain't like what's on website spa wasn't in use. And thought that in the dinning room staff were far to quick to take your order taking plates away while your partner was eating think they should wait till the whole table has finished.

Review 81:The staff were friendly and bubbly

Review 82:Spacious room 2 comfortable chairs and a table. Also had tea coffee making facilities and wifi included to make for a pleasant night's stay.We enjoyed a hearty breakfast the following morning.

Review 83:The room we booked became unavailable due to some plumbing issues, the hotel moved us to another Best Western nearby. We had chosen the first hotel as it was close to car rentals and the bus terminal for our return to Edinburgh. Mike, the owner led us to a gas station then to the car rental and finally drove us to the new hotel. He arranged a taxi for us in the morning to take us to the bus terminal and then showed up to make sure we made our connection. Not many managers or owners of hotels would make that kind of effort for a couple of tourists. He took the pressure away so we relax on our last part of our trip.

Review 84:The heat of the room, we slept with the windows open and it was still boiling and that was without any heating.

Review 85:The location, everything is at hand and the swimming pool etc was great in the morning it was really quiet first thing we had the whole pool etc to ourselves, nice and relaxing.

Review 86:The floorboards in my room were exceptionally creaky throughout. This didn't bother me except to make me feel a little embarrassed for anyone below

Review 87:Overnight stop..good, convenient location. good parking, very good dinner and breakfast. extremely friendly and helpful staff

Review 88:Nothing really, very small point was that a couple of times it took a couple of tries to connect to the free wi fi,

Review 89:Hotel and staff were excellent. Breakfast was delicious Extremely friendly staff Very comfortable bed in a very clean room

Review 90:Room was located too close to laundry. Shower very difficult to operated correctly- controls very stiff. Limited menu - few options

Review 91:Comfort of bed.Smooth check-in. Relaxed atmosphere. Wifi easy login

Review 92:Never had any bad experience s that's why we keep coming back

Review 93:Food great choice love the pool staff. Lovely and very helpful sweets and fruit at reception nice touch

Review 94:room old fashioned looking. wifi terrible! the hotel has an old fashioned feel to it all round. bar area like a throw back to the 70's - not a comfy feel at all.

Review 95:pool /sauna etc good. staff friendly. food ok but not earth shattering.

Review 96:the shower was too difficult to control. The soap and shampoos were replaced by a dispenser.

Review 97:the fitness room and swimming pool was excellent. The evening meal was good.

Review 98:The tea served at breakfast was luke warm and your cooked breakfast arrived before you had finished your cereal!

Review 99:The central location was good and we particularly booked this hotel because of the spa facilities. We had completed a 20 mile charity walk so this facility was essential!

Review 100:First room not upgraded, uncomfortable and toilet did not work. ? Why ask about pets when you say you do not allow them? That is why we chose the hotel.

Review 101:Staff very helpful. Changed rooms and TV after made aware of problems.

Review 102:Had very little sleep first night due to constant banging from central heating pipes. We were moved to a different room but had same issue. So I used ear plugs for the rest of our stay.

Review 103:Close to public transport. We don't drive.

Review 104:Our toilet in room 307 locked. Got no shower before going out for dinner. Staff have inside of pen to unlock it. Old decor. Green bath suite. Awake till 12.54 am with extremely loud music from 21st party down stairs. Hotel full so no room change. Worst night sleep in a hotel. Not worth the money. Needing re-decorated.

Review 105:Staff

Review 106:from the moment we opened the front door we got welcomed with a smile. they have the knack of making one feel so welcome. the staff are excellent and always polite and smiles on their faces. nothing ever seems to be a problem for them and I really enjoyed the lovely warm swimming pool.

Review 107:Honestly can't think of anything we didn't like.

Review 108:The room provided everything needed to make our stay an enjoyable experience ie: tv, kettle, iron and ironing board , en suite and most importantly a comfortable bed. Add to this fantastic cooked breakfasts, free wifi, friendly staff, leisure facilities including gym, pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, what more could you want? We will certainly be back.

Review 109:The hotel room was very warm even though there appeared to be no central heating on. Had to leave windows open which in turn made the room noisy and uncomfortable to sleep

Review 110:The facilities and extras such as toiletries etc

Review 111:parts of the hotel are tired and shabby including some rooms and spa. would be great if it got bought up to a new best western spec.

Review 112:staff really good and helpful. brilliant breakfast with good choice.

Review 113:There was no hot water at all, which is just unacceptable. I was up at 6.30 for a meeting at 7.15, so no shower, plus as breakfast started at 7am no time for that either.

Review 114:Windows a bit draughty and took a while for hot water to reach fourth floor but that's,all I can think of.

Review 115:Comfy clean room.Pool was good and breakfast had plenty of choices. Staff all friendly.

Review 116:Noisy Creeky hotel. You can hear every floor movement all through the night of people going about

Review 117:The staff. Some of the most helpful and friendly staff we have ever encountered and we have travelled 5* on every continent so it is high praise.

Review 118:Double room was tiny. room 308. Half the size of twin room next door and bed very uncomfortable. Very noisy at night from floor above twin room 307.

Review 119:Bar meals were lovely and good parking.

Review 120:The floor boards were a bit noisy and worn. It is a busy section of Perth, so traffic noise started early.

Review 121:Breakfast was excellent and very good value for money.

Review 122:The bathroom was tired looking, needed a face lift and better heating method.

Review 123:The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful (steered me to local shops to buy swimwear for the leisure pool). The hotel was comfortable overall, very close to the rail station and had a relaxed atmosphere. The leisure facilities were a bonus. The bar food was good value for money.

Review 124:Everything was good

Review 125:Our tv didn't work and I reported it to reception on our way out and on our return we were advised they couldn't get it to work so they offered us another room which was next to ours so we quickly moved rooms no hassle

Review 126:off street parking was limited, but thankfully managed to find space each night. Wifi on 4th floor not good.

Review 127:Exceptionally clean room! Rooms were slightly dated, but I'd take a super clean room over style any day! Pool/hot tub was an added bonus. Staff in breakfast room were awesome!

Review 128:Lift is a bit small.

Review 129:The location is excellent and there is adequate parking nearby. Staff are friendly and very efficient. Food is tasty and well presented. Represents good value for money and we hope to be back again.

Review 130:we loved our stay at the queens we recommend it to anyone who loves a break, room was excellent and the staff were amazing a particular young girl on the desk her customer service was second to none.

Review 131:Wifi was down during my short stay.

Review 132:My room was small but very comfortable with all the facilities expected from a BestWestern hotel. Food was ver good as was the breakfast. Staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. The hotel has good parking facilities, is mext to Perth Bus Station and is almost opposite Perth Railway Station.

Review 133:Wifi completely out, so I had to go and sit in McDonald's. And I was charged £3.20 for a Lime & Soda water - is this the actual price?

Review 134:Great leisure centre and a lovely, comfortable room. Great breakfast too

Review 135:Creaky floorboards and badly soundproofed walls mean you can hear people walking down corridors. Decor very dated, especially the bathrooms, gym and corridors.

Review 136:Very good value for money. Gym facilities and free parking a bonus.

Review 137:Could do with new shower head in the room we were in .

Review 138:the location is good just out of centre of Perth close to bus and rail stations . Breakfast was good with plenty of choice .

Review 139:Bedrooms a little dated. Restaurant not very well marketed, no menu in room or at Reception, and also difficult to find

Review 140:Great service from Kat, who addresses guests by name. Lurgh(from Orkney) was friendly and chatty, and good service from Night Porter on thurs 20Nov

Review 141:Wi-Fi was poor throughout the hotel I managed to get a signal in the room but only just, the signal in the bar an foyer area was not much better. I was in a single room however the bathroom was half the size of a normal one I suspect which is not a criticism of the Queens per say but of almost all hotels that have single rooms they seem to think a half size bathroom is all that's required for single occupancy.

Review 142:The hotel was close to the city centre within 10 minutes walk. The room had all the facilities that you would expect of a Best Western hotel in the room, staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast on both days was well cooked and the service efficient.
