Reviews for Huntingtower Hotel
Review 1:The public areas such as the bar and conservatory were poorly heated and were cold throughout our stay. Our room was well heated though. The bar menu in the evenings was limited.
Review 2:The location of the hotel in its grounds and the proximity to Perth whilst still being outwith the town.
Review 3:whole hotel was freezing. manager brought a heater to our room which was not working but he adjusted our radiator and gave us much needed warmth.said he would bring another heater but this did not arrive.
Review 4:food
Review 5:The guest in the room next to us had their TV turned on all night at a high volume. Our baby slept through it but we did not. So ruined an otherwise lovely experience.
Review 6:Lovely setting, fantastic food, not brilliant menu for babies but we had brought our own food for our daughter, good for older children. Dining Staff were very friendly and polite. Room was clean, cosy and very comfortable.
Review 7:Staff poorly trained, she didn't even direct me to my room, just gave me the key, no discussion about breakfast times, or where it would be served. Room service was ok, food very mediocre.
Review 8:Good location, good sized room
Review 9:On going to check out, I was totally Ignored by the TWO members of Staff on duty at reception and Eventually had to demand attention.
Review 10:Comfortable room and good dinner
Review 11:Winding steep stairs to room were awful and although receptionist pointed to lift it didn't take us anywhere near our room. Barman not good - waited 15 minutes for a drink when we went to the restaurant. Stair carpet very worn and overall accommodation area of hotel a bit tired
Review 12:Good Food with nice staff in the restaurant. Comfortable room
Review 13:Booked a room and were given a 'cottage' (room with large bathroom and living room) very handy as we were traveling with a 8month old baby, this meant we could put her to bed then relax in the living room. We also had dinner in the hotel which was very tasty good quality, small portions but not over priced as can sometimes be the case.
Review 14:Wevwere satisfied.
Review 15:We stayed here previously when it was part of Best Western and enjoyed the property and its ambience. This is what prompted us to return. The restaurant is still up in the realm of excellent.
Review 16:There was a wedding on the Friday night at a seperate venue but all the guests returned to the hotel on the Early hours of Sat no ring and made a racket! The duty manager simply did nothing and on approaching him his attitude was defensive and said he did nothing because I did not complain! Seriously?
Review 17:Staff were great, surrounds very relaxing, food good and the place just felt relaxing and amenable to the guests! The conservatory was just so enjoyable.....
Review 18:The extractor fan for the kitchen! It was right outside our window and although it did turn off late at night at all other times it was loud. I mentioned at reception the following day and it was clearly an issue they had mentioned to them a thousand times. To me this is just not acceptable and would stop me staying at this hotel again. The main reason for staying at a country house hotel is for peace and relaxation. This didn't offer that. Unfortunately it would not affect only our room but I imagine at least half of the rooms at the back of the hotel.
Review 19:It's a nice quiet location on the edge of Perth but still very convenient for town and or the main roads north or South.
Review 20:staff shortage on 1st night. slow service. one morning inexperienced staff on at breakfast. bit chaotic till Lidia came in.
Review 21:most staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 22:Situated just outside Perth in its own grounds this hotel is ideal for visiting Perth and beyond. Staff were friendly and the breakfast excellent. I would most definTely stay there again
Review 23:We were there as guests at a wedding. The staff, although friendly, madeloads of mistakes, forgetting key elements (no breakfast for the bridein her suite despite it being ordered, no music was played during theceremony as agreed, flowers for the bride and her family not given asarranged etc). Our room was very basic despite costing us severalhundred pounds, no mini fridge, no toiletries, no welcome orintroduction pack for the hotel, no radio, no mention of roomservice...the type of things you would expect from a hotel at thatprice. Our bedsheets on arrival had an old blood stain on thepillowcase, the room was not clean with cobwebs, dust and dead bugs inthe lampshade directly above our bed. There was signs of damp on thewall. The bathroom (if you could even call it that) had no bath and ashower so small you could barely move in it. The shower drain wasblocked and the water would quickly fill up so we could only have a veryquick shower for fear of flooding the bathroom. The issue with this wasthe water pressure was so poor, you felt like you'd never showeredanyway! Due to arriving very late because of delayed flights, we had nothad any supper but as there was no mention of room service, my partnerwas forced to go out to the nearest supermarket and buy food for us. Weate a few bits and left the rest in our room in case we were peckish thefollowing day. When we returned to our room after it had been cleaned, the cleaners had taken all our food and drinks and (I'm assuming)thrown them away!! I called down to reception to complain and they saidthey would send room service (finally!) but weren't sure what theyhad. They said they would call back but never did. Half an hour later, atray of stale egg mayonnaise and salmon sandwiches were delivered. Mypartner is allergic to egg and I dislike both, we were charged for theprivilege.
Review 24:The grounds are beautiful.
Review 25:Because of architecture of hotel there was no view out of bedroom window.
Review 26:very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and dinner. In a very quiet area of Perth but close to A9.
Review 27:Looked forward to a relaxed bar meal, but was rushed through the meal which was served in a draughty corner of the conservatory. Fish not well cooked, chips not really hot. As there was a largenparty going on in the conservatory surely and old lady travelling alone could have been offered more congenial surroundings for a meal?
Review 28:Welcoming staff, spacious room on ground floor, very good choice at breakfast.
Review 29:Very nice hotel. I've stayed here twice. The rooms are lovely, character in the old building, nice and big in the newer part of the hotel. Plenty of lounge/sitting areas and the food is excellent. This hotel is a much better deal than the big Well-advertised chains
Review 30:Nothing was bad at all :)
Review 31:I came from another hotel as it was appaling we walked in and the staffwelcomed us straight away made us feel welcome and happy to be stayingat the Hunting Tower ..I would like to add the reception staff were 1stclass helpful..polite..happy..and very welcoming..the food was totallyamazing and I really loved my birthday meal...The rooms were 1st classclean and welcoming and I would come and stay again ...and haverecommened to family and friends so thankyou to all the staff at theHunting Tower 1st class service :)
Review 32:No mirror available at dressing table. Hand towel although obviously laundered was stained. No surface on which to put anything in the bathroom except the floor. Bath very slippy to stand in when showering - a rubber mat would help
Review 33:The staff were excellent - friendly and did everything they could for us. Excellent dinner. pleasant setting in mature grounds.
Review 34:Eggs were reheated and cold but when this was pointed out I did get fresh scrambled eggs. Taps in bathroom sink had very little pressure. Lack of Internet was a real issue. We needed to work.
Review 35:Comfort of room
Review 36:Unfortunately our bedroom looked out over the roof where the extractor vents extended from the kitched - no view at all. They would have moved us but were fully booked. We are used to a King Size bed so the bed was too small for out liking.
Review 37:The Hotel was in a lovey rural setting and the decor was very "Scottish Country House" which we loved. Dinner was excellent, and very good value.Staff were very friendly.
Review 38:Inadequate directions to accommodation. Slightly stale cooking smell in dining room.
Review 39:Really good accommodation in 'cottage': a sitting room and bedroom. Very clean and comfortable. And toast brown on both sides! That's rare.
Review 40:Staff were very slow at breakfast and dinner. Starter was very over cooked, drinks didn't arrive until half way through main course, wifi is very slow.
Review 41:Beds were very comfy and room clean, lovely communal areas
Review 42:Outrageous price for a single room with the worst view in Scotland - overlooking roof and very noisy equipment so could not open door (no window) on a hot day
Review 43:I have stayed many times and breakfast was delicious if chaotic
Review 44:Seemed odd to be told there were no brown rolls left at dinner in a hotel of this standing. No complaint, just an observance.
Review 45:Room in good order, quiet & comfortable.
Review 46:Might have been helpful to have fridge in room for baby needing normal cows milk through night. Also I expect due to the popularity of the restaurant we did not get table when we wanted which was disappointing but in fairness we left checking for booking late as we unsure what time we would return from day out back to hotel
Review 47:Beautiful site and grounds room facilities very good
Review 48:People smoking at the door of the hotel on arrival who had no intention of moving to let us in.
Review 49:Peaceful environment Free upgrade to a spacious bungalow to rear of hotel.
Review 50:Had last available room in hotel, tight for space but was clean and tidy!
Review 51:Food was excellent! Had a meal in a 5star hotel the previous night. Hunting tower gave great value for money and no less quality or presentation 'Shall Return'
Review 52:Other guests smoking directly outside the main entrance
Review 53:Excellent customer service from Samantha the receptionist. Good efficient service from bar and dining staff.
Review 54:Was part of a wedding party.the bride paid for my room the first night and I paid the second.i shared a room the first night with a bridesmaid and my partner joined me the second.the bed was not changed or made.tea coffee was not topped up and we had no cups the second night.not what I expected after paying £110 for the room
Review 55:Reception staff were amazing and always eager to help.
Review 56:Some Breakfast items were not very warm and also we asked to alter items and were told "yes".....most were then served incorrectly....on both days.
Review 57:Everything else was excellent.
Review 58:The only thing which prevented a 100% satisfaction was the rather firm mattress
Review 59:Lovely location on the edge of Perth reasonably priced dinner menu, delicious food. The bedroom was of good size with very large en-suite
Review 60:Hotel out of town, so have to eat in restaurant or travel some distance Reception staff good, some bar staff good, but head F&B lady unprofessional & rude to guests No lift, narrow stairs, no porter Free wifi, but no service Restaurants & bar setting lovely, but menu options not changed much Food usually good & served hot, but have to wait long periods for drinks & food service when busy Room not vacuumed daily & sheets not changed very often; room stuffy as window only opened slightly
Review 61:Lovely garden setting, free on-site car parking, restaurant open each night with bar menu or 3 course meals, lovely decor, bathroom good
Review 62:The rooms are fine but the house keeping wasn't what i would call very good, the beds were not made up on a daily basis, pillows and throw was left on the settee
Review 63:The breakfast was good and the staff friendly
Review 64:There was a mixup with one of re double rooms when we checked in, ours had been given to someone with the same name. Initially we were then given another available room which was a third of the size of our friends bedroom which was booked at the same time & at the same rate. Also this small room was directly above the air conditioning & was very noisy. Having our friends room we spoke to reception who agreed to move us to a much larger room more to the standard we had paid. This should have been organised in the first place instead of the staff hoping that we wouldn't complain.
Review 65:This is a beautiful hotel set In stunning garden. Very welcoming at reception and the bar area is airy & relaxing. We would certainly come back here again though will book direct with hotel instead through another agency.
Review 66:Stayed here quite a lot over the last few years cos we love the food esp, but we feel it's pretty much very 'samey'( the menu) also, we miss the canapés before dinner, some crisps-olives just isn't the same:-(
Review 67:Love the new decor in the rooms!
Review 68:The staff went out of their way to help us and make a special birthday even better. they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite for free too.. food was amazing.
Review 69:Bed, and pillows were uncomfortable, bed linens were not what I would expect at a resort of this standard! The house keepers were quite sloppy when they cleaned my room non of the surfaces were wiped down, there were crumbs and coffee rings left behind, iron and ironing board were left out.
Review 70:One of the bar/dining staff was outstanding, I wish I remembered her name. The grounds were amazing, decor beautiful. The overall experience was great and I definitely want to bring my husband in the future!
Review 71:we booked and prepaid a four night stay- on arrival we were treated unprofessionally at the check - whilst checking in I heard some other poor guest enquiring about there being no wifi and thought to myself this will be a mess of a hotel. Our room was probably the worst in the hotel - up in the roof after climbing irregular servants stairs with ripped carpet on the treads to make things even better. Went to dinner and half of the items on the menu were unavailable. Our room was beside the kitchen exhaust fan and made the room noisy and smelly. Next morning we checked out as we're not that poor to have to endure the room. The staff and management are still trying to work out why we left this dump. We might be slow from Australia however we soon work out when we are being conned. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Review 72:leaving
Review 73:genuinely there were no issues what so ever.
Review 74:No complaints everything was perfect, wonderful setting, helpful staff great room, plenty of parking, and excellent breakfast in lovely conservatory.
Review 75:No problems encountered.
Review 76:Staff were friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was decorated and furnished to a high standard. Dinner and breakfast of high quality.
Review 77:Lack of management response to my complaints. Swearing drunks from a wedding roaming the corridors at 3am. Wifi unusuable Initial room was a dog box. Had to ask to change. Staff while trying their best were young and inexperienced with very little supervision. Restaurant charges same price for one course or three. Fawlty towers feel to whole operation. Promised response to my complaints from management never happened.
Review 78:The hotel guest areas
Review 79:I simply cannot understand why such a pleasant, comfortable place, is ruined with piped music in the bar and conservatory, for dinner and breakfast, and when just sitting enjoying the view. Why do we have to have this constant blare of bland pop?
Review 80:Quietness, space
Review 81:Firstly there was a hair in the bath so the cleanliness rating is right down. Our room was right above the main entrance and as there was a wedding on we were kept awake all night until the early hours of the morning by people out the front talking, smoking, taxi's coming and going and in general lots of noise! With a hotel having so many weddings making an area for smokers etc would be an idea rather than having them all congregate at the front for all the rooms to listen to there full blown conversations at 2am! Bed was very uncomfortable and there's barely enough room to swing a cat in the room. There are plenty more choices when it comes to hotels in Perth as for me this is one to avoid. And for the price of £110 definetly not worth the stay we won't back :(
Review 82:The hotel is in a nice location with very nice gardens. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
Review 83:the shower was a bit pokey, and wifi not that great in the room
Review 84:we stayed in room 202 - it was a large room, comfortable lounges, huge bed. the dinner was outstanding, excellent service and luxury rooms.
Review 85:We were misled on how far away from Racecourse. Cost us 15pnd each way to get there over two days. Also didn't realise it was room only. 40pnd more for breakfast. All in all turned out quite an expensive trip
Review 86:Staff were excellent
Review 87:The hotel is excellent in every way. Food of a high standard. Courteous and friendly staff. High standard of cleanliness in the room. Wifi that works!
Review 88:Nothing!
Review 89:We got married here and cannot fault anything. Every little detail was dealt with, anything we asked was done no hassle. Highly recommend of not for a wedding then just a stay. We will be back.
Review 90:This was our second visit. The location and the hotels appearance and facilities combined with the welcoming and attentive staff made for an enjoyable and relaxed break. The steak melted in my mouth
Review 91:good location, big hotel but retains country charm, staff excellent, food superb, very good for families too as has mobile cabins which look lovely. very peaceful even though there was a wedding going on we heard nothing.
Review 92:The evening meal was a little disappointing.
Review 93:Bedrooms were large and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with a range of choices.
Review 94:The breakfast was small with really cheap ingredients not worth the money. The blurb said complimentary toothbrushes were available but when I realised I'd forgot mine there was none left, even to purchase - with no shops within walking distance this was inconvenient. Not as good as a premier in in my opinion.
Review 95:The grounds were nice. The room was spacious. The staff were pleasant.
Review 96:the fact that it really isint handicap freindly My mther could'nt have a shower bath tub far too high for her and no support for her to get into to
Review 97:good suroundings had a great walk saw the lodges look great and nice houses around
Review 98:The breakfast was a little disappointing especially given the quality of the dinner.
Review 99:The Hotel is situated in a pleasant rural environment and offers good opportunities for walking and cycling. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the dinner was very good.
Review 100:Shower fixed to the ceiling - you cannot move it and use it properly (no hose) Two taps over the sink - I know it is very common but simply inconvenient to use
Review 101:Friendly staff, comfortable bed, cleanliness, beautiful and peaceful area
Review 102:Nothing. Can't fault anything. Will definitely return again.
Review 103:Everything. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Couldn't do enough for us. The food was amazing and the room was very nice and comfortable
Review 104:Liked everything disliked nothing.
Review 105:Every single thing. Food was stunning. We ordered room service and it was first class, steak was to die for. Breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the grounds was lovely. Had a couple of pints in the very comfortable bar which was very relaxing, once again with lovely views from your seat. The room was exquisite, with top end fixtures and fittings. I would of hated to of paid for just the curtains alone, must of cost a packet. Defiantly be back. Oh by the way, the staff and proprietor were brilliant. If you stay in Perth at anytime you must must must stay here. We will return, honest.
Review 106:wifi unusable in room, very poor cooked breakfast. Had to run round in shower to get wet. For £120 a night not even a bottle of water or biscuit in room. Very poor value for money
Review 107:very friendly attentive staff. Good evening meal, nice and quite
Review 108:All the elements of a good hotel were present; cleanliness, comfort, good food. What impressed us both was the staff; they were very attentive and there when needed. We will be back.
Review 109:Really welcoming staff very helpful the room and hotel were spotless warm and decor was smart and modern with a tartan twist. Food great bar reasonable nothing not to like
Review 110:Nothing at all
Review 111:Not had a need to stay in Perth for a number of years. Had some good memories at hunting tower and in the absence of a great hotel in town gave it a go. The service was attentive and friendly - my dinner was very good and sped up to help me make a meeting. Room was v good and breakfast very good also. What's not to like?? I will be back.
Review 112:We felt that the breakfast was not as imaginative and that some corners had been cut in some items (presentation of butter and jam ) but this did not impact greatly on our stay.
Review 113:We stayed overnight so that we could meet a member of staff to discuss our daughters wedding planned at the Huntingtower. We were impressed with the bedroom accommodation and the standard of decor. The beds were spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The staff were welcoming and friendly and also very attentive. We discussed out daughters wedding with a sraff member and she answered all our questions. you feel more like a guest at a country house as the decor is homely and comfortable. It is not bland. The furnishings are of a high standard. We are happy that our daughters wedding will take place in this hotel.
Review 114:The floorboards were noisy from the room above. Kept awake with people walking about. That would be my only complaint other than that everything and everyone was lovely.
Review 115:Thought £3.95 for a small latte was silly. Please price alternativel to alcohol at a price lower/volume than the price of one unit of alcohol served at the bar.
Review 116:location, ambience
Review 117:Breakfast was good but possibly slightly overpriced.
Review 118:The hotel was very comfortable with a good ambience and relaxing atmosphere. The decor was pleasing, our room in the new wing very spacious. Water was always piping hot. Dinner was good value for good quality food, we relaxed in the bar afterwards with liqueurs. Staff all very helpful and welcoming. All in all a great break.
Review 119:Bathroom a bit small Lack of free toiletries just shower caps and an all round gel soap-would have liked shampoo, shower gel etc No hairdryer Unflattering light in bathroom
Review 120:Beautiful surroundings and decor. Delicious breakfast. Comfortable bed and nice and cosy
Review 121:Once again a hotel that won't fork out for a double mattress, but rather uses 2 singles so one of us falls into the gap. Won't even stump up for a thin tempura cover. Very disappointing and we have decided that we will not stay any more in hotels that don't have double mattresses. A lovely hotel visit spoilt by a simple thing.
Review 122:The food and service in the restaurant for dinnert was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was not quite so good but still very friendly and of a high standard.
Review 123:Mattress was suffocatingly soft and provided no support. Couldn't get comfortable at all. Painkillers didn't help. No sleep all night and aching back for the next two days.asked at reception about firm mattress but none available. All rooms the same. Would coma back for a meal but would definitely not stay again. Sorry. Perhaps it would be better to provide some firm mattresses for guests who require them?
Review 124:Helpful friendly staff, good food, beautiful hotel in excellent location. Spacious, well-appointed room.
Review 125:There was nothing not to like well maybe a trouser press would have been helpful
Review 126:The staff were there but not intrusive .pleasing surroundings and great cuisine we will visit again
Review 127:The low wall at the exit to the car park with no reflector on it. Missed breakfast sleeping late. No fridge in the room.
Review 128:Old World charm Cleanliness This visit we were in a chalet which was newish and quiet away from the weddings on both nights.
Review 129:Possibly an isolated issue, but shower did not drain.
Review 130:Real nice bar and restaurant area. Friendly staff Beautiful breakfast set up Rooms ok, good bed
Review 131:Didn't have the best sleep, mattress and pillows not the comfiest but you can't please everyone.
Review 132:The place as a whole was lovely, really liked the gardens. Husband loved the shower.
Review 133:Noisy fan outside room (201) Apart from that nothing ...would recommend to anyone!
Review 134:Room was lovely- clean, comfortable. Grounds beautiful. Dinner was scrumptious- had lamb as main course. ..absolutely fantastic! Hotel has lovely ambience.
Review 135:The first night stay was quiet. Once the room above us was occupied you could hear every move due to creaky floorboards and poor insulation. No a la carte menu. Washbasin in bathroom was dirty when we arrived. One day the maid omitted to make up our room and refresh the towels.
Review 136:Spacious room. Good king size bed. Roomy bathroom. Tasty and varied breakfast.
Review 137:No children's concessions for breakfast, limited children's dinner choices, had to have three courses for supper.
Review 138:The desserts, good size of the rooms, the beautiful grounds
Review 139:The food is excellent, the staff friendly and very helpful. We have been visiting the Hotel for 11 years now and will hopefully be visiting there for many more years to come.
