Reviews for St. George Guest House

Review 1:I didn't really like sleeping on the ground floor. It is a little bit of an uphill walk to the B&B, which my back didn't like.

Review 2:Fairly central to all amenities. Staff very helpful, as I wanted a room lower down, because of back trouble, I was accommodated on the ground floor. The breakfast was very nice and the waitress was really friendly and helpful.

Review 3:There is no doubt the bed was damp and an open gate made noise all night in the high wind. The breakfast portions could have been a little bigger.

Review 4:Met on Saturday evening by the owner and he was very courteous. Had a room on the ground floor which we liked. Good location.

Review 5:The breakfast was a bit dry and the coffee was watery. Shower door was a bit dirty.

Review 6:Staff were so friendly. The place itself was nice and homely. Room was lovely and comfortable. Felt right at home.

Review 7:Brekkie was lovely. We booked one room and stated we were a couple and friend staying. We got a corridor with a single room and a double room with two doubke beds.all for the same price!......... very close to whites hotel

Review 8:WiFi just okay, unusable some times.

Review 9:A quiet, nice and comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff. Appreciated the comfy lounge with frig and microwave and the packets of tea and instant coffee. An excellent breakfast. This Guest House had a really warm, welcoming feel to it for this weary traveler.

Review 10:I didn't like the small cramped room and it was at the top of the building which was a problem for my husband as he have mobility problems. The friendly girl at reception tried to change this but wasn't allowed. The breakfast was meagre and a disappointment as we were looking forward to this being away from Ireland for a long period of time.

Review 11:Friendly staff

Review 12:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 13:I liked the early check-in, 12.15. I liked the proprietor's concern of whether I had been disturbed by noisy guests late at night. I liked the hour earlier breakfast on the morning of departure, to catch my train.

Review 14:We were given a ground floor room which had 2 very small windows. One looked at a wall and the other into a sun veranda. I t was very dark and cramped in the room and if we had stayed more than one night I would have asked to be relocated.

Review 15:Location good

Review 16:The property was full of charm, owners were helpful and knowable of the local area. Suggested some places to stop on our drive to Kerry. Breakfast was freshly cooked, great range including traditional Irish breakfast as well as continental breakfast items.

Review 17:Parking was difficult. Small tight space and lucky to get a space

Review 18:Greeted by a lovely gentleman. Very friendly and location was excellent as we were attending a wedding in Whites hotel it's just a 2 min walk away

Review 19:The proprietors were friendly and personal, and the rooms had the bed and breakfast sort of charm. Breakfast was cooked to order, including traditional Irish foods as well as continental breakfast items.

Review 20:I got a warm welcome, ground floor room since I had lots of luggage. Secure parking. Since I was leaving early I got a discounted price instead of having breakfast.

Review 21:The welcome offered by Michael and his helpfulness throughout the whole stay were second-to-none. Great Irish breakfasts served by the very amiable Mary. Ideal location for exploring the very interesting and historical town of Wexford. Countless great pubs and restaurants within a ten-minute walk - particularly impressed with The Yard restaurant, the bars at Bugler Doyle's and Jim McGee's and the must-go-to top floor of "The Stores" nightclub on a Friday and Saturday night!

Review 22:Might not be the best place if you're in a rush. It helps you to slow down and enjoy your stay though.

Review 23:Great location and nice rooms. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Michael gave me some tips on what to do on a day around Wexford which were very helpful. I would definately stay here again.

Review 24:This is a comfortable, affordable B&B with a friendly host and tasty and filling Irish breakfast. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the train station and just a block or two from the main shopping and sightseeing areas of Wexford. I would book here again if ever in the area.

Review 25:We lived in the room # 3 and it was awful! The only window looked at ... the hall where the customers could sit on the coaches, read or chat. It was dark and uncomfortable. The bathroom was cold cause the floor in it was utterly chilly. I didn't like the breakfast. The meals were usual for Irish b&b but there they were insipid.

Review 26:People are really nice and helpful. Actually, reception staff is the only thing I loved at the place

Review 27:I loved that we were greeted so kindly and the innkeeper told us about local attractions and those a short drive away - including Loftus Hall - Ireland's most haunted house. The breakfasts were great and the location was just up the hill a short distance from the pubs/restaurants/shops downtown. Loved this place.

Review 28:I was supposed to get a preferential rate as being in the wedding party but the rte was no better than if I had booked it online. I found the reception staff officious and the could not explain why there was no difference in the room rate. Also disappointed I had to pay a single room supplement which I thought was totally out of order.

Review 29:That although it was the top floor, the bathroom window was without cover and there was a conspicuous door from it to the hall. The continental breakfast was a bit sparse on options, but the host was accommodating.

Review 30:The room was clean and quiet, at the top rear. Cosy place with some really nice folks running the place.

Review 31:I have visited Wexford with my boyfriend last 16-17 of March 2015 and stayed at St. George Guest House overnight. The location is really great and just 7-10 minutes walk from the Connolly train station and restaurants are just within 5min or less walk from the guest house. The host and the staffs are very accommodating. P.S. They served as excellent breakfast! :)

Review 32:Shower was poor, no power. Wifi code wasn't in room. Folder said to ring reception to get it but phone was in drawer, not connected to anything! Chocolate crumbs in nightstand drawer. Used mug and spoon left in room after it had been cleaned after first night's stay.

Review 33:Really comfortable bed, quiet, great location.

Review 34:It was a bit cold in the night as the heating was off.

Review 35:The staff were extremely friendly. Bed was made each day and clean towels. The location was good. Near the town.

Review 36:nothing.

Review 40:We would have liked a bigger room but that a compromise we were more than happy to make, given the great service and value for money. We'll definitely be back!

Review 41:Great friendly personal service from Michael and his Staff, always cheery and upbeat and nothing is a bother.

Review 42:The location is perfect, easy walking to everything and everywhere you want to go. The room was very clean and really comfy. There is a kettle and tea bags to make a cup if you would like one. Very lovely hosts also.

Review 43:The questions are: would I want to stay there again, and would I recommend St Georges Guest House to others? The answer to both of these questions is: definitely, Yes. The ambience of the hotel was the most salient feature. I felt safe and secure; it suited my purpose of solitude and privacy, together with a peacefulness and tranquillity. The service was excellent insofar that the room was scrupulously clean and the bed and bedding were very comfortable and was applicable to my needs. The staff; Michael the proprietor was most professional and Mary was a delightful lady with a genuine demeanour. Breakfast was to my liking in every respect. David Brendan McGinnity

Review 44:The lack of toiletries, no hairdryer as advertised.

Review 45:I liked the location, the comfy bed, the helpfulness of Michael, the owner, wi-fi in the room, the choice of breakfast. Nice little flower-bedecked car park if you want to go out for a smoke.

Review 46:The staff here are really friendly and very helpful. You definitely get value for money. The accommodation itself is basic but has everything that you could possibly need. Ensuite, Wi-Fi and a lovely breakfast. Very clean and very well kept. The private parking is great as its pay and display everywhere else so this is a great benefit to this guest house. ITs also really close to the town so very handy location. Will recommend to my friends and will be back again to stay.

Review 47:Great service in perfect location. Michael & Mary went beyond the required service, including getting up early to give me breakfast each morning, which was greatly appreciated. Would recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Wexford.

Review 48:The friendly and generous attitude of the staff at the St George made our stay a real pleasure. They went out of their way to accommodate our dietary needs and helped us with our travel arrangements. The general atmosphere of the guest house was one of gentle happiness and smooth-running order.

Review 49:Parking was very tight.

Review 50:The property is centrally located to walking around Wexford. The proprietor was incredibly kind and helpful, even parking my car for me when I was having difficulties in the tight lot and turning on the heating in my room when it got a bit chilly. The bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets available in the room.
