Reviews for Battle Golf Club

Review 1:The rooms were immaculately clean. Our host was very efficient and most friendly. Breakfast was excellent. All in all we had a most pleasant stay and could not fault anything. We shall definitely go again.

Review 2:stunning views, very pleasant atmosphere and very helpful will recommend it to anybody wanting a quiet, pleasant, comfortable and friendly reception. Excellent place!

Review 3:It was not as the advert shoes on your site. No restaurant and very run down. It was not worth £85 . I think you should go and take a visit as none of the photos were true. Very very disappointed

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:The place cannot under any circumstance be considered a hotel, it is little more than a function room that caters for wedding parties. Its a great shame as its a great piece of land.

Review 6:Very little other than breakfast

Review 7:The shower water smelt of sewage so we were unable to get a shower! It stunk out the whole bathroom and it was disgusting. The sink water was fine though. Ensure you carry a torch with you if arriving late as there is no light in the area until you reach the front door.

Review 8:The owners were really friendly and accommodating.

Review 9:Evening meal was terrible Gammon about size of my palm and over cooked tinned peas Coliflower cheese over nuked in Microwave. If you need a VAT recipte good luck tried myself and through Booking.com no luck

Review 10:Lovely view from dinning room

Review 11:The long drive approach gives you hope but when the clubhouse comes into view it looks abandoned and in need of updating! The (good sized) family bedroom was obviously the old external changing room and smelt like it! Musty bedroom with high windows, no natural light or views of the lovely countryside. Bathroom had distinctive "drains" smell and we did not attempt to use the uninviting shower. Uugh!! Fell very short of expectations!

Review 12:Very nice breakfast

Review 13:Filthy skirting boards throughout.Non of the bedding had been ironed. Flying ants nest on inside of window -we pointed it out and ant powder was put down.We thought this golf course to be open only to be told by the owner that it closed July this year. This was hard to believe given the state of the course and the length of the grass. Plumbing extremely noisy. Bad nights sleep.

Review 14:The bathrooms had been refurbished as show on the web. Breakfast acceptable even if not we had ordered !

Review 15:The family room smelled of damp and the bedding was damp and our clothes were damp in the morning. Staff denied anyone had ever had a problem but we've now seen an earlier reviewer did. The family room had no normal windows just a high level row of "changing room" obscured glazed type. There was a walkway not a terrace outside the room and no view from the room or the walkway; the terrace for the whole club was 15 yds away. The emergency light above the door remained on at night. It is not bright enough in daytime to see that it is on but needs to be seen at night and rewired.

Review 16:We went out so did not have to spend the evening in the family room which would have been dreadful as it had no normal windows or view or terrace and was damp. The shower room and wc were clean but felt unclean due to a toilet smell, poor decorations and inadequate tiny washbasin. We managed to cover the emergency light above the door which remained on at night. It is quite dim but at night is too much and stopped us sleeping. We were spared the embarrassment of asking for a reduction as the bill had already been put through on the credit card.

Review 17:Bedroom very small, uncomfortable sprung mattress, basic essentials such as tissues, hygiene bags, shelving to place toiletries on all missing. Very noisy vacuum water and toilet system. Cobwebs on ceiling.

Review 18:Freshly cooked breakfast, helpful proprietor, quiet location. Modern shower room.

Review 19:We expected to be staying at a golf club but this no longer functions here. Very quirky plumbing

Review 20:Very friendly people who were very obliging. Excellent breakfast!

Review 21:It was an ideal place for us to stay for visiting Family. The location was very rural set within the ,now closed, golf course. Beautiful countryside all round. A great place to relax and just chill.

Review 22:Room was cosy but toilet and shower were on an electric system which we didn't mind but we were very conscious of using as it was so noisy and didn't want to disturb other guests.

Review 23:Host was very welcoming and informative.

Review 24:Quiet, easy to find and park, lovely view, pleasant staff, excellent coffee, good food including home-made jam and butter properly served (no tiny fiddly packets).

Review 25:Room need slight adjustments such as separating the kettle tray from the TV and a shelf in the bathroom. Golf course no longer in use even though not mentioned in advert by Bookings.com

Review 26:Clare was very friendly and helpful in every way and she deserves success. Slept very well.

Review 27:Room had a mild odour upon arrival but that was easily fixed after opening the windows. There are no handles on the outside of the door so shutting it is a bid of an effort. Bathroom is also in desperate need of a revamp

Review 28:Claire was kind and helpful, room was as clean as it could be the vista from the patio were fantastic too - especially on the summer morning of our departure!

Review 29:Sewage / grey water from the toilet and basin drains through narrow bore pipes to an electrically powered comminutor installed behind the toilet, which kicks in automatically whenever the toilet is flushed or the basin is emptied. It is quite noisy when it does so and, in our case, the comminutor kicked in briefly at roughly 20 minute intervals throughout the night. Not conducive to a good night's sleep!

Review 30:The location is very attractive and the room was clean and functional.

Review 31:The owner was very kind to us helpful,my husband is severely sight impaired and the staff were helpful and very considerate nothing was too much trouble.

Review 32:A room with limited space, a view blocked by a large tree, very noisy bathroom facilities (also for other rooms during the night) and not value for money. Would not stay there again

Review 33:Got to hotel and my booking had not been recieved even though i had paid in full and had a booking receipt and code.Room was small and not the one i had booked as this had already been given out. No atmosphere , needs renovation.Loudest extractor fan ever heard !!!

Review 34:Staff accommadated us when they could see the booking had not been sent through.

Review 35:The breakfast could have had more options even if you had to pay, apart from that everything was 10/10 purely based on the price I paid.

Review 36:I like the location, staff were friendly and young, the lady Claire manager was friendly, our room was clean,

Review 37:The noise of the water system when flushing toilet or running taps in sink, cobwebs in the room. Having to move shower head down 1 metre to get water flow. Smell of sewege from toilet and sink in bathroom. Not impressed at all.

Review 38:The breakfast

Review 39:Compaired to other B&Bs I've stayed in I thought it was very expensive. The saniflo system was extremely noisy when you turned the tap on or flushed the toilet. I was disappointed because the rooms were on the first floor and it did not mention this anywhere, so not suitable if you have any mobility issues.

Review 40:The golf club was closed so it was very quiet and relaxing. Claire was very friendly and helpful. Location and views superb.

Review 41:Very small cramped bedroom, bed was not comfortable, looked more like a room from B & B that would have been priced at £55 not £85!! The Golf Club looked a bit unloved, could be brilliant, seriously needs some TLC. But for one night, just about OK.

Review 42:Great location, very friendly staff, bathroom clean and good size, breakfast very good.

Review 43:It was like a ghost town Bar wasn't open, for a large golf course we only saw one lone golfer over the w/end. rest of the time the whole place was in darkness. We had to feel our way to the car when we went out in the evening. We were told not worth putting on heating for the 2 rooms in use but a heater was provided when we asked.

Review 44:Location was excellent for being close to the Battle re-enactment which we had gone to see - although Claire didn't know it was taking place! Beautiful setting - a herd of deer passed in front of the car..

Review 45:Run down unkempt appearance. Noisy toilet system. bit over priced considering cheap unmaintained building. Wonder if it will still be in business in not so far future? Shame it lacks investment.

Review 46:Room was clean & quite other than noisy saniflow toilet system. Breakfast good. Host pleasant. Nice views.

Review 47:The bar didn't stay open after 9pm as there's not enough custom. We arrived back at 9.30pm and everything was closed up so if you fancy a nightcap or want water for the night you'll have to obtain it before returning to the club.

Review 48:The lady running the place while we were there was great. It seemed that she was the only member of staff there and was doing everything ie checking people in and out, running the bar, cooking snacks and breakfast. She did a wonderful job but could do with some help! The location is beautiful with stunning views but a little remote.

Review 49:The bedroom was very dark with windows along the tops of the walls only, with opaque glass. Looked like converted changing rooms. The bathroom was very basic, with mould in all the grouting. When I complained there was no light bulb in the shower room I was told there was nothing that could be done, and to shower in the morning. Cobwebs lined the window sills on the inside. The room had a cold damp feel to it. The continental breakfast consisted of cornflakes, muesli and milk, without even a can of peaches.

Review 50:The location is lovely, with a great view of the surrounding countryside. The cooked breakfast was nice.

Review 51:The room was a tad too small and the golf club facilities were a touch outdated.

Review 52:Clare and her staff were lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the room and shower/toilet room was very modern and clean. The breakfast of two sausages, two bacon, two eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast was delicious! The setting was lovely and peaceful with a marvelous view over the countryside.

Review 53:The room was a little small for a 5 day stay- it would have been fine for a weekend. We had disturbed sleep due to the maserator noise- to be fair we mentioned this to Clare who immediately said that she would get engineers in to fix it.

Review 54:We travelled with a dog and were made very welcome. The beautiful grounds were open to us to walk and this made it very easy for us to exercise our dog whenever we chose. Breakfast was excellent- freshly cooked. It was very quiet and the views were wonderful. The shower was excellent and the bathroom as big as the bedroom! It was spotlessly clean. Clare was very welcoming and very helpful.

Review 55:No cleaning for the whole stay No clean sheets No fresh towels Rubbish not emptied Inaccurate room description on booking .com Given the option for two beds..and accepted..but goven one Full amount taken on card before check out Over charged the figure quoted on booking.com

Review 56:The fact she was rude over the phone passed my details to a member of my family without my permission. Not helpful when trying to find us alternative accommodation therefore instead of staying the night to enjoy a family reunion we had to drive so that's a lot

Review 57:They didn't possess the accom we booked via web-site and yet you allowed us to book something that didn't exist and they didn;t tell us until 24 hours before we ere due to arrive. Extremely dissatisfaied!

Review 58:Shower was dirty. The bar furniture was badly worn. The TV in the room did not work it was the 12"type you see in Council Dumps. it was that old!. The wardrobe appeared to be taken from a Council dump. The whole premises were empty. Dust sheets on the tables in the Dining Room. If I do not get satisfaction over this complaint I will take it further via the Local Council Environmental Health and Trading Standards Office. In all my experience I have never seen such a dilapidated premise/ It was unused. I could not believe my eyes. Surely Booking.Com must visit hotels they put on their site.

Review 59:The empty Car Park. The Golf Course the drive into the Club

Review 60:The pumps (one per room) driving the small-bore plumbing system are noisy. On our first morning there were staff issues (apparently due to delays caused by a traffic incident) which meant breakfast was a long time coming. No problems on our second morning.

Review 61:The location is excellent. We were there for a wedding in Hastings and a Reception in Battle. The view from the rear deck is beautiful. The staff were friendly, informative, helpful and courteous. The accommodation was easy to find (Battle Golf Club is sign-posted) and there was plenty of parking.

Review 62:Rooms a bit small; Rooms on first floor so hard carrying suitcase up.

Review 63:Friendly owners; Great location in English country side; Nice bed; Very clean; Nice views.

Review 64:In fairness i was half an hour early for checking in but there was literally no one around and it. was all locked up, then when someone was around the rooms weren't reade and i had to Wait a further half an hour. The toilet system was incredibly loud. The lady on site stater in the room next to me on the first night and i could hear everything such as the t.v and drawers and toilet which Made me not want to use the toilet/shower/sink or have friends in My room because of noise. À light was out in My bathroom. The shower and toilet flooded the first morning. I had a generator fight outside underneath My room that was on all night both nights which was loud and kept me up. Service was slow.

Review 65:Bed was comfortable. Food was average. Room was clean and nicely decorated.

Review 66:it was a surprise that the office shut after the last guest checked in and no-one on site but guests. Did not cause a promlem

Review 67:Caring staff Quiet Country location simple

Review 68:Tepid water in the shower. Poorly lit drive when arriving at night.

Review 102:Very quiet

Review 103:They were really nice beds and they had the best breakfast. They owners were so nice to my family and I.they always made sure that everything was OK.

Review 113:The scenery was stunning and the hospitality was friendly and warming.

Review 114:Noisy water system when flushing toilet and using the tap/ shower.

Review 115:Very friendly staff Good breakfast

Review 116:Apart from the ensuite the decor was looking very tired

Review 117:Quality of breakfast Obliging staff

Review 118:no AC so may be unpleasant in hot weather noisy toilet system

Review 119:caring manager quiet excellent breakfast free wifi & parking

Review 120:The staff did not serve breakfast at the time I wanted and were slow at serving.

Review 121:The location and quietness.

Review 122:Dreadful customer care. Arriving mid afternoon we found the reception and bar open but unstaffed. We waited for 15 minutes during which time we telephoned the golf club number . We could hear our unanswered call ringing out behind the office door which we opened to reveal what looked like the aftermath of a bomb. We had booked online and were therefore expected yet there was no notice anywhere with a mobile contact number and no answer phone message to indicate that staff could be contacted. As the place smelt damp and musty and clearly no one cared to welcome us we decided to move on. Nearly an hour later I received a call from a member of staff responding to our missed call. I tried to explain why we wouldn't be staying there but was talked over. Apparently we didn't try hard enough to find her and should have searched the upper floor. This from someone working in the hospitality business. The Battle Golf Club appeared run down and the only member of staff we spoke to arrogant. Incredibly they offer wedding receptions. Good luck with that.

Review 123:Pleasant location.

Review 124:The pump running every 5 mins during the night. The whole complex is a little bit tatty. The security of the place relies on the lock on the bedroom door.

Review 125:Breakfast was excellent. Shower was good.

Review 126:The actual golf course needs some serious TLC and there definitely needs to be more going on; at the moment it is in essence just a B&B with a golf course. However i do not believe that this is not through a lack of effort on behalf of those that own/run the place.

Review 127:the views and situation are truly beautiful and the place has great potential .

Review 128:The outside of the building needs to be smartened up, but hopefully this will be done in time.

Review 129:Bedrooms have been completely updated and are very comfortable indeed, the on suite bathroom fully tiled smart clean and homely.

Review 130:Nothing to dislike.

Review 131:We were made so welcome. Nothing was too much for Clare. Breakfast was wonderful. Loved the peace and wildlife of the place. Room was comfortable with a lovely bathroom.
