Reviews for Porto Carras Meliton

Review 1:As above

Review 2:Fantastic property but such a poor customer service. All of the staff apart from Vasilis in News restaurant and Alex, bell boy, need to learn the what a SMILE means.. Never ever did I revive such a poor customer service. All of the staff in restaurants look like they do not want to be there, if you ask them something, they roll their eyes and tell something to their colleagues in Greek. F@B manager really needs to work hard to change the attitude of his staff...

Review 3:Mold in the shower. Room (executive apt.) looked much worn out with water leaking marks and cigarette burns on the tapestry. If you golf, you'd "enjoy" the dry burnt grass of the course. Any Marriott hotel will offer much better continental breakfast. Staff is slow with orders (especially at the café/bar outside the reception area). At one point we waited close to an hour for someone to come over. If visiting the area, better stay at smaller private hotels. There are plenty of small "mom and pop" restaurants with excellent food and many wonderful beaches in walking distance. Much better value for the money.

Review 4:The see - water was very clean.

Review 5:The hotel is located in very large Area.we have been in Greece a Lot of times especially we havent seen a hotel like Meliton before.i Advice everybody

Review 6:Appalling internet connectivity.

Review 7:Excellent location right next to a small beach and 10km with a car to other bigger and more spacious beaches. Decent breakfast and room cleanliness. In general a good price per quality ratio.

Review 8:- WiFi signal in the rooms we were staying was very bad - Rooms were not very clean when we arrived and they told us they would send someone to clean them but they didn't do so until the next day. - The staff were not very informed regarding our booking (didn't know if b&b or hb, told us that we had to pay for using the gym which was not the case) - Very expensive drinks at the beach bar and in the rooms' mini-bars - Food was nothing special - Casino did not offer many options/tables for poker and blackjack

Review 9:- The free room upgrade - The winery - The indoor pool with the sea-water - The horse-riding experience - The wine we got from the manager as a gift, probably for having complains :)

Review 10:For an American the beds are a bit hard, and we always need coffee first thing in the morning, so a coffee maker would be nice. Thanks for asking.

Review 11:Porto Carras Meliton, I loved this hotel and the whole Sithonia area! Porto Carras Meliton was great for active people who want to explore by boat, horse back, hiking, SCUBA, and more! Staff, beach, pools, food & drink, cleanliness, all excellent!

Review 12:Everything about the property was not satisfactory. Rooms were very old, not maintained well and dirty at all times. Toilets were faulty and showers not working properly. Bed sheets were also dirty and we found insects on the sheets. The air conditioning system was also not maintained well and had a bad odor. The breakfast buffet was large and had a variety of foods that were all bad tasting and of bad quality. Staff are over worked and unpleasant. Reception were unfriendly and gave no attention to guests, room service was slow, housekeeping were rushed and not accommodating. Beaches were not well organized, with no service or assistance for guests. Limited options for dining, including a very bad beach restaurant that is similar to prison eating arrangements, other options although better are much more expensive. Questions and enquiries were not welcomed by the staff and if a response was given it was very crude and unpleasant. Guests are expected to discover this huge facility on their own. Finally the room rate per night was over 250 Euros and accordingly the value for money was terrible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely not be visiting it again.

Review 13:The quality of guests in this resort, with their impolite and sometimes aggressive behavior basically ruined our whole stay. Unfortunately the hotel policy is easy on these people since they are the majority. Fighting for an umbrella in a 5star resort is unacceptable! These people reserved the sunbeds from early 8.00 and none were available unless you removed their towels, hence the fight! We actually witness one of the guests threatening the beach manager! for this reason we had to leave the hotel and look for another beach (and of course waste our all inclusive and pay for the other beach!). The quality of the food in the main restaurant is actually a 3star buffet, and I am sure the owners know it! If you have not eaten before in a 5star hotel, then its ok I guess. The same main restaurant is chaotic due to the guests and ruins any atmosphere of eating and drinking in a resort. The dine around program offers that, but the selection is poor in the all-inclusive, but then again you avoid the barbarians of the main restaurant.

Review 14:The hotel itself with its facility buildings and surroundings are majestic but a bit out of date. The staff was great and helpful.

Review 15:- I ate at the taverna by the beach and got food poisoning (most probably from a burger). Got sick for 2 days... - ... but the rooms need renovation ! Old furniture, canapé was "standing" on 3 legs, etc

Review 16:the room (executive suite): spacious, very nice view but ...

Review 17:the wifi is like not existing we leave a day erlier because half of our friends and also many other people in the hotel get sick without anyone tell us why prices in restaurants and bars i think are more than expensive

Review 18:the location is excellent

Review 19:-Long lines at breakfast -Everyday same foods on open buffet -Personnel working for the Boss, not working for the customer satisfaction -Wi-Fi yes, but nothing happens -Not enough sunbed at the beach and other areas -Towels very imported for the Hotel. If you lost your towel they will cut 25€. They put some personnels to follow especially towels. Look like comedy, because we staying in 5star. -Room carpet is dirty

Review 20:-Good Location

Review 21:Wifi was super slow with many disconnections. Especially in the room didn't work at all.

Review 22:Generally a very nice hotel with a beautiful beach and big pool.

Review 23:Beds. Internet connection. Can't experience the Greek food. Limited variety buffet. Having all inclusive option with a lot of conditions attached.

Review 24:Location. nearby marina

Review 25:Minor things - too small to be mentioned, especially for relaxed Greece.

Review 26:Visiting this place for the 5th time. It is getting better. I think it is fair to assess the hotel by local standards, and by this yardstick it is definitely a full and good 5* (if it were in the Emirates, I would award it 4*, the golf course being not ratable at all). But most essential, the sea is absolutely perfect and is beyond ANY COMPARISON to any resorts on the Mediterranean outside Greece and Cyprus.

Review 27:excellend place with very nice beach. Old fashion hotel bad always in style! we love it !

Review 28:It needs renovation to get the old glamor. The beds are big but the mattress must be replaced! The brreakfast could be better for this 5* hotel.

Review 29:Some things in the room were not well maintained. Not enough toiletries in the bathroom. Bad Wi-fi signal. Not well organised beach.

Review 30:Rich breakfast. Polite cleaning staff and room service staff. Wonderful view.

Review 31:This hotel caters well for children, something that is possibly not so much of an advantage for young couples who want some quiet time!

Review 32:Friendly staff and in particular the concierge, Mrs Pavlous Katerina was very helpful. The guest relations team, Evita in particular were helpful in arranging a special meal for our anniversary. The pool areas are OK, but not amazing given the cost of the hotel. The non VIP part of the beach is not that comfortable, which is a shame and a drawback to returning.

Review 33:The team booking local trips can be more organised. Need to consider breakfast, programme and same time for pick up for all in the minivan ( from the same Hotel).

Review 34:The location and facilities were amazing

Review 35:Availability of sunbeds. Must go on the beach early in the morning to find available beds.

Review 36:Nice, comfortable and clean place with a lot of activities available for children and adults. Excellent place for families with small children. There is also an excellent animator available for the kids! The hotel gave us a junior suite despite the fact that we had booked a regular room! Food was very good. Nature and walking areas within the resort are amazing.

Review 37:Beach not sandy but with pebbles, too many families with kids, rooms and amenities not really 5 start, more like 4 start plus.

Review 38:Marina is very good with 2 very good restaurants. Kohi beach bar is also much better than the hotel beach. If you go early in the season it won't be that busy which is good.

Review 39:Staff was very careless and unfriendly. The hotel management only cares about making profit and has nothing to do with offering a good service for customers. Wifi is horrible. It is definitely NOT a 5 star hotel. There is even not a shower cabinet in the bathroom. When you take shower all the floor in the bathroom becomes completely wet. The housekeeping takes and throws your clothes to chairs (I can imagine even to the floor) instead of making it neat and putting aside properly. If you go on half board, they even do not give one drop of water during dinner/dining time! (NO DRINKS) You have to buy it extra since they try to make extra profit. I was surprised since at least water or soft drinks should have been included. If I were you, I would never go there since for the same money you can go to much better places in other countries/locations.

Review 40:NOTHING ONLY THE NATURE AROUND IS NICE

Review 41:The breakfast and dining experience resembled more a canteen rather than a 5 star hotel, things had finished long before the buffet was due to close, and the waiters were busy clearing plates before the guests finished their meal. Also our toilet had a leak

Review 42:Nice facilities, big room, huge swimming pool, and very nice sea

Review 43:To me it was simply the best stay of any place I have visited in Greece, the view from my room superb the food just yummy I had a hour massage of which was heaven a mist enjoyable time and would love to return sometime

Review 44:Hotel is understaffed and in nedd of some renovations. It really could be something exceptional, but still it is a great place for vacations.

Review 45:As returning customers we received a free upgrade to an executive suite!

Review 46:Luxury Hotel with Fantastic premises; we were offered a free room upgrade to a Junior Suite. Very helpful and professional staff! The breakfast offering is world class.

Review 47:Definitely the best, the most luxurious and the most comfortable hotel so far in Greece. Everything was perfect since the moment we entered, until the moment we left. We were welcomed by a very kind and polite staff. The room was fantastic with all possible commodities. The food was excellent with a wide range of delicious meals. All drinks were free and unlimited. The service was fast. The view from the room was amazing. It was so perfect that we were everyday provided with information on the weather for the next day. There is a wide range of activities such as entertainment for children. It is very romantic and quiet. It is the best place for relaxation and pleasure. A very special to Julijana Mitrova from grdt relation department, who helped us resolve a problem we encountered. We will definitely come back soon. We already made a reservation for our parents here.

Review 48:The service in the bar (which had deafening live music) was slow and the breakfast was chaotic. There were too many people, too few staff and shortages of cutlery, food items etc.

Review 49:The rooms are large and comfortable and the location is superb. There's a good variety of activities.

Review 50:The maids were, for want of a better word, rather agressive in their methods and downright annoying: the "do not disturb" sign was ignored each day and knocking started at 8 am, walking straight in. After two days the maid just took the sign off. For some reason they seem to put new bed linnen each day, the two last days they just stripped the bed and put a small pile of folded sheets on the matrass. Quality of the towels declined a bit further everyday, at some point i got a pair i can genuinely say belong in a youth hostel. The beds are extremely hard, thats also why i marked this hotels comfort as "poor", others might give less importance to it but ive seldom slept in such an uncomfortable bed . Breakfast people did make an attempt at fresh juice during breakfast by blending together melons and bananas and apples, the result is quite unusual, i wont be making it at home.

Review 51:Keep in mind that i stayed in a seaview room on the fifth floor. This hotel was beautifully designed, and even though some of the carpets show signs of wear in the hallways id say in general its still in very good shape and has a lovely atmosphere. The room is very spacious, with a desk, plenty of closetspace, tv, sofa , fridge. The bathroom has good water pressure. Dinner is excellent. The beach is beautifull, made up of very small pebbles

Review 52:Pay for internet, pay for gym, late room cleaning schedule, certain outdated and old facilities such as the playground

Review 53:Location, activity options, layout, indoor pool

Review 54:1. DUE TO SPECIAL EVENT, DINNER RESTAURANTS HAD LIMITED HOURS. THIS WAS NOT ANNOUNCED AT LARGE. 2. NO SHUTTLES FROM HOTEL TO KIHO BEACH BAR

Review 55:1. WORLD CLASS PHYSICAL PLANT 2. EXCELLENT LOCATION 3. VARIETY: GOLF, SWIMMING, BEACH BAR (KIHO) PARTYING, BEACHSIDE TAVERNA, SPA 4. ENERGY 5. SUITE 1625 PLEASANT SURPRISE 6. VINEYARD

Review 56:You have to pay additionally for wifi, and also when you pay it you can use it only on one device at the time. If you have more - than either use one or pay for 2-3 wifi passwards. For me unexeptable for 5 star luxury hotel. Also, service at the beach bar right next to the hotel is very poor - you have to go to the bar yourself and carry the food/drinks while boys and girls working there just sit there and watch you. That was the reason we decided to change the beach first day. You got 10-15 minute walk to the Kohi beach or if you have car 3 minute drive.

Review 57:Great resort, worth every penny. We read some scary reviews and saw not so great score but Hotel and everything around was fenomenal. Location, comfor, food, service, ... Just perfect! I would recomend it to everyone, its such big resort - honestly we never been to anything similar to this. Worth seeing and experiencing. Hint - Kohi Beach on the other side of the marine is the best option, not too crowded, clean, good beach bar and service.

Review 58:Awful staff (except of the reception) ! It is unacceptably for hotel of that ranking to has such a disastrous staff. Infinitely waiting in the restaurant on terrace, infinitely waiting on the VIP beach, infinitely waiting for room service, after that infinitely waiting You get something You didn't want, unpleasure and unprofessional chef of the towel desk… A great pity for this so good hotel formerly.

Review 59:Location is perfect. The whole complex is very, very nice !

Review 60:Executive suite was quite ran down. Terrible odour at the 4th floor as soon as you walk out of the lift. Food and customer service was below average. Overall the hotel looks like it needs and overall refresh - from management through to facilities.

Review 61:Excellent location. Value for money.

Review 62:This is absolutely the worst holiday experience my girlfriend and I have ever experienced. For a 5* resort the level of quality and service were wholly inadequate. Below is a list of the issues we encountered:- We booked for a “Golf View” room and ended up with no golf view and 2 room changes in 2 days. First room had an adjoining door so we could clearly hear the neighbours and in addition the balcony overlooked the access road where the cars were audible even with the balcony door closed. Second room overlooked the hotel entrance and rubbish bins and at 8am a very loud garbage truck spent 45 MINUTES removing all the rubbish – this was a resort event that we would enjoy every other day. The third room was also an adjoining room so we spoke to the neighbours about their 7am noise and the reception desk about the cleaners excessively dragging furniture on the floor above at 8am and managed to at least get some sleep.- We needed to use the internet and I expected a 5*, world class resort, to have free wifi. But as is a running theme, I was disappointed to find this was not the case. Not only was the wi-fi €25 per week, it was also UNUSABLE. So slow that web pages wouldn’t even load… really what is the point???- Anyone not on an all-inclusive package realised early on that they were being taken for a ride. WATER €3, fresh orange €6.50, small chicken €24!! The business model is fundamentally flawed.- Breakfast was a buffet where the masses are herded in like cattle, given food that is worse than cattle, while annoyingly loud music plays; NOONE WANTS CHEESY TUNES WHILE EATING BREAKFAST. Not even any fresh orange which I thought was standard for any 5* hotel at breakfast. The waiters are docile, maybe lulled into a trance by the ever constant music. They would watch us as we sat down and do nothing even though the table needed setting up.

Review 63:you have to pay for Wi Fi in this 5 star resort. Despite that we paid and stayed in a junior suite i wasnt pleased with the location of the room. Room service could have been better.

Review 64:nice location with excellent hotel beach. Very good breakfast and helpful staff. Reasonable prices if you eat and drink inside the resort.

Review 65:Food was leaving a lot to be desired. Very rigid regulations and premises need badly to be renovated to meet international standards. I will say that Porto Karas is RATHER A 3 STARS facility not more. Very expensive for a 3 stars one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 66:Location.

Review 67:In my opinion a 5* hotel should be judged by these little details which transform your stay from simply very good to an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately this hotel (in our opinion) failed to demonstrate that it is indeed a 5* hotel... - The hotel and all facilities are quite outdated. A lot of indoor / outdoor locations need an urgent revamp. - There is a constant chemical detergent smell in the hotel's corridors (6th floor). - It is outrageous to pay for the use of wireless internet. This service is also outdated as is the rest of the hotel - Although travelling with a baby, there was no possibility to have a water boiler in the room...!! Even if we asked 3 times for it...This is unacceptable not only for a 5* hotel... but for any hotel. - There is a constant noise of a mechanical source (compressor or airco?) that does not allow you to open the windows at night. (6th floor)

Review 68:- The location is excellent: A perfect combination between green dense forest and crystal clear blue waters. - Wide variety of choice during breakfast but ... the quality tastes like a cheap all inclusive hotel. :( - We liked the frequent boat connection to Marmaras and the train.

Review 69:The hotel was full of russian speaking people and most of the staff oriented to them. There are rules of visiting restaurants but most of the guests do not respect them, so it was so ugly to see people directly from the beach in wet clothes or even in swimwear not only during lunch, but at dinner too. There are quite dirty carpets in corridors with unpleasant smell.

Review 70:Perfect hotel's location, clean water full of fishes, nice marina, big enough rooms, many attractions available for older kids and adults. There is a shuttle from marina to nearest village Neos Marmaras

Review 71:They try to charge you for normal services that most hotels always include.. over priced food and drinks and casino is a joke.

Review 72:Many amenities to choose from

Review 73:1) Facilities much below expectations - Hotel needs to be renovated immediately to match the usual standardized levels of a 5 star hotel 2) Rude staff literally not even speaking the Greek language 3) Food (offered quality & taste) are again significantly below expectations 4) Non existent wireless connection 5) Limited activation organized within the hotel premises to entertain its customers despite the offered facilities

Review 74:Location

Review 75:For a five stars hotel , the quality of the mattresses are very poor and old and generally for the rate we paid , I believe that they have to work and spend harder to bring up the quality . Also we realised that we had paid twice as much as other guests who had booked from Russia or Balkan countries for the same room. , we actually found out that Greeks were paying 63% cheaper than us which we found it ridiculously unfair . We have discussed these points to the managent too but they have a lot more to do here

Review 76:I liked the location

Review 77:I wish I had more than 200 characters to write.... Customer service response times were AWFUL...3 quick examples.. Waited more than 30 minutes for bath towels... waited 15 minutes for menus while staff folded napkins (multiple times).... waited 15 minutes to get a glass of water at table.... list is long of serious issues I had with this place!!

Review 78:Blue water like I have never scene. Staff was polite.

Review 79:The staff service is very poor. The carpets need to be removed as they have a terrible smell especially in the corridors outside the rooms. Does not deserve the money paid for.

Review 80:The location is amazing, beautiful scenery.

Review 81:Although this is very expensive hotel if you are not in all-inclusive arrangement, they are chaging extra for anything they can think of - internet, gym etc. Internet is one the worst I've experienced in hotels, very complicated and time consuming to connect to, it cost 50EUR for 10 days per device and barely working in the rooms.Carpets in corridors are dirty and were ready for replacement even couple of years ago. Gym costs 10EUR per day even the exercise equipment is very old and some of it even rusty.Uprgrade from BB to HB costs more than 1000EUR for 4 member familly for 10 days and for that money you can have dinner where ever you like and not eat the same thing for 10 days. Breakfest is average but bellow 5 stars standards.

Review 82:Big resort, very quiet, don't need to go out of it at all.Extremely clean see and nice beach. Extremely good view from our balcony - marina and see.Couple of restaurants withing the marina, nice walking routes along the wild bays which all bellongs to resort.Parking slots are covered with sun shades.Taxi boat to Neos Marmaras. Nice pools.

Review 83:very old hotel, renovated in 2003 and that's it.Food was poor, the rooms very old and no so clean, need a BIIIIIG renovation

Review 84:the hotel is on the beach(wonderful),laguna pool is beautiful

Review 85:Arrive to porto carras with my car, no valet service they tell you to go park your car, the rooms are not renovated as they tell people they are, carpets most probably are still the same as when they first opened in the 80's, beds are hard! Called house keeping to collect the extra bed there was in the room, she walks in takes all sheets and blanket and tries to fit them in the cupboard, she couldnt so she turned back to the couch and dropped them on the floor between the wall and the couch on the floor says tha k you and walks out! I was so shocked just stared at the out the window asking myself if what i just saw was actually happening!!! We were given cards in order to be given towels for the beach and when we were done with the towels we would have to return the towels to their stand where there were 3 staff members, i was just 1 meter away nobody there and the 2 see me going DO NOT say anything and just leave with their bags like they were not working there Nd to lazy to tell me they have closed, so i wait ans hear someone behind me shouting out loud "its closed" 3 times so i turn around notice he is shouting at me!!! And tell him to stop shouting and come talk to me in my face, and attacks me because i was trying to understand what i was supposed to do with the towels! And he continues to shout at me! And he walk off because i spoke greek! All staff members are crom eastern block! Allll extremely rude no manners whAt so ever!! 4th day decide to go to the casino to sithonia walking, 2 hours later theres a thunder storm on the way out notice that we could not walk back the receptionist tells us there is nobody to take us back to meliton with attitude like telling us we were asking for something crazy! They asked the casino, they had nobody to take us back and just said there is nothing i can do just sot and wait...... I can go on with a lot more! Just embarassing to have such service in greece.... Shame!

Review 86:Free High speed Inernet is mandatory for such exclusive environment! Attitude of the personal especially ones on education, and on the towel management is not satisfactory

Review 87:Location ans aurroundings, Access control to the resort Room size, Organic food, Marina Boat rental

Review 88:Biggest issue is with the sunbeds - there aren't enough of them and if you are not an early bird, you will have to wait at the beach bar for someone to leave for lunch before setting down. This is also holds for the pool area - there are no sunbeds. Service in the restaurants has to be better, as it is pretty lousy currently.

Review 89:Great location, nature is really amazing (pine forest, crystal-clear water), plenty sports options

Review 90:I can honestly say nothing!

Review 91:Beach, pool area and amenities all readily accessible and great set up if all you want to do is relax. For those with more of a sense of adventure the Poseidon Diving Centre is excellent and is also located close by next to the marina. The water taxi provided a perfect way to visit the town in the evenings. All the staff were very helpful and polite and we would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone else.

Review 92:Seriously understaffed, embarrassingly dirty in some places (2 cockroaches in 2 days), urgently in need of repairs and renovations.

Review 93:Location, location, location!

Review 94:Facility needs updating in some areas, food was average and pricing foreverything not included in package was exorbitant - wi-fi 8 euro perday, everywhere else is free.

Review 95:Facility in good location, has a great pool, good size rooms and staffare pleasant and very helpful.

Review 96:Wifi is extra charge and not free even in the lobby. And the nice restaurants in the resort do not open for lunch, only dinner!

Review 97:The hotel is really nice. We got upgraded to junior suite when we arrived. Our room had a Marina view which was wonderful.

Review 98:Very unique hotel with an own port including golf yard as well aswinery. We have tasted and enjoyed perfect wines from Port Carras. Ifully recommend everyone to stay there.Over the dreams!!!!

Review 99:1. Reception staff not enough 2. Entertainment for medium age children 3. Cleaning room timing

Review 100:1. Location 2. Environment 3. Relative silence 4. Personal 5. Large room 6. Pool

Review 101:The breakfast was the same every day. The waiter at the food bar forgot the order, waited in vain. There is no service at the beach only a bar. Uptight guests.

Review 102:Rooms are big and clean

Review 103:Not much choice for restaurants.

Review 104:I liked location was great.

Review 105:massive tourism

Review 106:Good spa, location, beach

Review 107:Superb location, good restaurant, the room was clean and had a great view. Best choice for Porto Carras.

Review 108:the facilities and the quitness of the place

Review 109:Old hotel, bad foods

Review 110:The Beach is well

Review 111:Internet

Review 112:Food, no internet, service.

Review 113:Sea, evening concert.

Review 114:Everything else this is not a fuve star anything

Review 115:Marina

Review 116:Wifi coverage

Review 117:Location, amenities and room were brilliant. Staff was very polite and always helpful

Review 118:Room far away from the beach, only one way to reach the room.

Review 119:Great beach, perfect sea, nice surrounding

Review 120:No service, breakfast was like a war zone

Review 121:The location in one and only to bad that they don't know what a 5 star hotel is .

Review 122:Service at restaurants was slow
