Reviews for Hopping Hare
Review 1:An uncomfortable bed and very firm pillow. A shower head which fell out of the holder and hit me on the head. The fact that the TV switched itself on... at 4.20 am!
Review 2:Great restaurant, excellent food, best chips ever.
Review 3:Although large car park, it was full with Saturday night customers, so had to park in nearby residential area. Maybe Hotel could reserve a few spaces for overnight visitors if practical.
Review 4:Relaxed and rooms away from Pub and Restaurant, and therefor quiet. Modern rooms well appointed and large luxury bathroom.
Review 5:I was at the top of the hotel and carried my case up and down about 30 stairs which was difficult for me with sciatica. I could have asked for help, but I didn't. I think you should offer help given the room location (no 10) right at top of building.
Review 6:Lovely clean and spacious bed, modern bathroom. Very quiet.
Review 7:Didn't like the sausages that came with breakfast! A bit too much gristle, that's the only negative I can find to say.
Review 8:Had a lovely 1 night stay, really impressed with the decor and cleanliness in general but our room was really special, better than expected and we were expecting it to be lovely, the bathroom was spotless!
Review 9:Generally a nice place but aspects of management let it down: - Presented with bill higher than the booking.com agreed price - was corrected on request but always leaves a bad taste cos seems like a 'trying it on' policy. - Absolutely refused to do a room-only rate (when I called before booking) when I said I didn't want breakfast. Why be so inflexible? - Loud noises in room/corridor at night (pipes? heating?) - Bedroom floor clearly not hoovered when I returned after day out - surely not good enough when you're paying £80 a night! - Arrived 5 mins early for breakfast and had the door locked again in my face, left standing in corridor - they could have let me in and said 'would you mind waiting 5 mins in the lounge'! Not very customer friendly! - Hoovering in breakfast room whilst people still eating.
Review 10:Location suited me but a long way out from town centre. Nice decor, obviously a popular restaurant. Comfortable room, good shower. Easy parking.
Review 11:as always typicall english full breakfast to small for me :) but this is not complain of course. In room 18 upstairs (very nice room) hot water from wall heater was leaking and smell in room wasnt pleasant but told this to the staff during my check out and they promised to take care. Everything else was PERFECT!
Review 12:Perferct localization due to my business, room clean with all facilities (hair dryer, iron, huge cosy towel :), very comfortable bed, nice staff, strong wifi signal, good parking. Strongly recommended. Will use in the future for sure.
Review 13:Room had faulty bathroom light & shaver socket - given key for another room so my husband could shave - wished we had changed rooms as - next morning shower bar fell off wall! Informed desk staff but no apology or offer of reduced room fee. Emailed hotel to check staff had informed maintenance - Deputy Manager offered reduced stay for another time but it's not somewhere we would be visiting in the foreseeable future
Review 14:Entrance very attractive. Great bar & seating. Breakfast was very good although had to ask for plates to eat the toast.
Review 15:my only issue was i was overcharged by £10.00 for the room. it was £65.00 on booking.com but i was charged £75.00 by the hotel. we did not realise this until we returned home
Review 16:Lack of comfy chairs in bedroom Insufficient lounge facilities in public area Pretentious menu Unrequested black pepper on breakfast!!!!
Review 17:Large bathroom Spacious bedroom
Review 18:The amount of stairs you have to climb to the rooms, entrance to the rooms situated near toilets wasn't nicea
Review 19:Friendly and approachable staff, facilities are good ,rooms were very nice.
Review 20:Had high hopes having read reviews of others but it didn't meet our expectations. The room was small, hot water in the basin flowed too slowly, the light over the mirror didn't work, but worst was that we were given dirty plates for our starter in the restaurant for dinner and had to hunt for cleanish cups for coffee there at breakfast time. Overall overpriced and disappointing.
Review 21:Not a lot
Review 22:Hammering very loudly for about an hour from pre-8am. Booking said check out was 11:30 am but then found it was 10 am when we arrived.
Review 23:Nice room but very warm at night.
Review 24:Welcoming staff ,well decorated bedroom with all the necessary amenities. Excellent food in comfortable surroundings provided by friendly staff. A hidden gem.
Review 25:Not the hotels fault but we had very inconsiderate people in the room above us. We thought breakfast was small. Half a slice of black pudding. 1 Slice of bacon half a mushroom but tasted good
Review 26:Comfy bed
Review 27:The hotel was perfect for our needs--which included a handicapped accessible room with en suite. The comfortable lounge, dining area, and large outdoor patio made it the perfect location for us to receive and entertain the many family and friends who came to visit us during our stay. The staff were exceedingly accommodating and the food was excellent.
Review 28:The room was small and there was some traffic noise.
Review 29:The breakfast was excellent and the lady who had booked us in the previous day remembered that my wife couldn't eat wheat so made sure there were gluten free sausages and bread available for breakfast.
Review 30:Attic room a little on the warm side and may be too much in the heat of summer. However a column style fan was hidden behind a chair which would cool the air.
Review 31:Best full English breakfast we've ever had. Sunday roast beef superb followed by excellent rhubarb and pear crumble. We look forward to staying again.
Review 32:The hopping hare is an ideal place to stay while visiting althorp house as its only 4.5 miles away. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening good value for money and fantastic food. All staff were very friendly and the hotel was spotless. Overall a lovely place, fantastic weekend and will be back for another weekend sometime this year.
Review 33:rock hard pillows. a long climb to third floor and no help with our luggage, they need a lift. My smoked salmon bagel at lunchtime was so stale I couldn't even cut it, was replaced by a fresh but warm one. just us moved to bar area for breakfast as all empty tables reserved for later. We felt very isolated and guests coming down for breakfast after us were all seated in the proper breakfast area. If one has to reserve a table for breakfast that should be made clear on checking in. None of these were awful but they did rather spoil things.
Review 34:good food, nice to see a different menu and not just run of the mill pub food. Pleasant staff. Nice bedrooms.
Review 35:Not in the nicest location in the middle of an estate - not clear from pictures Breakfast could do with better selection of cereals, oats, muesli and yoghurts
Review 36:Nice clean well equipped bedroom of good size. Cooked breakfast good
Review 37:Standard of breakfast was variable. Toast was brought warm and on a plate, which made it damp and soggy. No side plates to eat it off. Small things but attention to detail was missing for the price paid.
Review 38:The location was excellent. Very accessible for the centre of Northwmpton and other locations.
Review 39:The TV in the bedroom as VERY small and the signal was poor. There was a lot of interference. Also there wasn't room service for breakfast. The outside space was neglected when we stayed. Every table had dirty glasses that needed clearing.
Review 40:The food was excellent, staff (all girls) were very friendly and helpful. It's very modern throughout. Free parking. Very quiet location in a housing estate. The bed was extremely comfortable and check out wasn't until 11.30 am.
Review 41:If planning to visit town and arriving back after midnight there is a side door which is unmanned.
Review 42:This accomodation is an excellent all in one option. Rooms very good, bar with a great choice of bar food and very resonable priced drink, excellent restaurant.
Review 43:Thin walls meant other "noisy" guests could be heard in the hallway. No double glazing for our room meant we could hear the kitchen extractor vents till late.
Review 44:Food, Bed, Breakfast very tasty.
Review 45:Nothing!
Review 46:The hotel is in a good location to explore Northampton. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Superb restaurant with excellent food.
Review 47:Towel rails in the bathrooms were not working so the bathroom felt a little chilly. Apparently problems with them getting too hot. So this is hopefully being dealt with
Review 48:Boutique rooms, comfy beds and a lovely breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. This is our second stay so we booked a meal in their popular restaurant, again the food was delicious. Would stay again if we were in the area.
Review 49:Slow breakfast service and didn't get the eggs cooked the way I ordered them . Location not as I imagined .
Review 50:Clean, spacious deluxe room . Bathroom large and well appointed . Friendly staff , good food .
Review 51:The bathroom freezing as the heated towel rail had been isolated. Apparently this was a decision that wasn't going to change.
Review 52:Location, staff, room, (not bathroom), food. Slightly expensive food and place-but nice.
Review 53:When we first arrived the room allocated was facing a large extractor fan apparatus from the kitchen which had a loud annoying hum but we were moved to a better room when asked, also lunch the first day the chips were greasy and overdone and while the rest of the food was good we did think it was a bit pricey for it hence we only ate there twice
Review 54:The room we had for the week was in a quiet location and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was mostly good and so was the location.
Review 55:First time stay just for a Sunday night. Car park and restaurant were full when I arrived about 6:30pm, a very good sign. Room was very nice tea and coffee facilities and a couple of packets of biscuits. Strong wifi in room and in the bar where I ate an excellent two course dinner which was reasonably priced and washed down by a very pleasant pint of beer!
Review 56:Wifi didn't work at first Not hot water at first Moved to a new room & staff resolved those issue by moving me immediately and helping me with my luggage. Unable to print my invoice at the time of departure but sent it by email later on it the day. Not offered help to take luggage up the 3 flights of stairs.
Review 57:Free parking Free wifi Beautiful bath Lovely radiators made room warm & comfy Beautiful large double deep bath with perfectly hot water. Nice breakfast
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Super helpful, professional polite staff. WiFi access excellent. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Food superb, well cooked, well presented. Breakfast service fast and efficient not to mention plentiful in quantity.
Review 60:nothing
Review 61:Our stay at the Hopping Hare was completely faultless. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Staff were warm and welcoming and immediately on entering the hotel has a lovely atmosphere. Rooms were clean pleasant and comfortable. We dined in the restaurant was had a lovely ambience and the food was excellent .. the bar area also has a lovely ambience. The breakfast was perfect plenty of variety and perfectly cooked and presented. The breakfast staff were very friendly .. I cannot fault out stay .. nothing was too much trouble and it is very good value for money .. highly recommended! booking.yeah!!!
Review 62:......not what it says on the tin Bedroom poorly arranged Bathroom freezing Sink blocked No staff overnight! Hotel bit just seems unloved! Expensive for what it was and I stay in all sorts of hotels from top range luxury to mainstream budget throughout the UK regularly
Review 63:Morning staff really good Breakfast and food otherwise good Potentially a good place but...
Review 64:Staff could be a little more personal, but we did stay at Christmas so Im sure that would have imposed a slight bias. Also Cosmopolitan cocktails need a touch more lime ;)
Review 65:The interior design is excellent and all round service is good
Review 66:No heating at all in the bathroom, because of health and safety the towel rails have been disabled. No fun whatsoever when its minus 4
Review 67:Large well maintained room, good quality bedding. great food in the restaurant, and a good quality breakfast with lots of choice. Free WiFi throughout is a nice addition
Review 68:Location is decidedly average being near housing estates but that is soon forgotten once inside.
Review 69:Stayed the night and had dinner in the restaurant. Room was modern, clean and great value for money. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, atmosphere was just right, menu was varied and interesting. Breakfast next morning was just as good i.e. excellent. The vast array of thank you cards from other satisfied guests proves that we are not alone in our opinion. All in all a great experience. A special shout out to Dave the manager and his attentive staff who made sure we enjoyed our stay.
Review 70:This is my 3rd stay, previous stays we have had nice rooms with great bathrooms and a superking size bed. This time we had a small room with an interior window so view of a roof. Double bed, and a small shower, no bath. The shower cubicle was so small that i cut my leg on the sharp metal strip in it. also the toilet flush button had been removed so you physically had to push down the rod to get the toilet to flush. Avoid room 8, was really disappointed.
Review 71:Great food from the a la carte menu, good choice of drinks. Lovely atmosphere in the bar and great décor.
Review 72:We had to eat in our room as restaurant was fully booked, this was absolutely fine however there was only one chair and a dressing table in our room so it was a bit awkward. However the food, service, cleanliness etc were above and beyond perfect.
Review 73:I booked the hopping hare as a surprise 30th birthday present for my husband. It was stunning and the foodwas absolutely delicious.
Review 74:Easily accessible. This hotel has a great restaurant downstairs and the facilities are of a high standard. The rooms are a good size and spacious. Had a really good night's sleep too
Review 75:One of our towels was dirty (lipstick and makeup), I guess a mix up as everything else was spotless. Pudding wine is served in shot measures, never seen that before!
Review 76:This is a comfortable hotel with ver friendly, helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant with our son and daughter, not cheap but very good food, we did have some lovely wine too.
Review 77:The toast at breakfast was a bit disappointing - ordinary sliced bread which perhaps needed a another minute in the toaster.
Review 78:We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch, although there was a disappointing choice of starters (2 x shellfish and 2 x mushroom) out of a choice of 6. We stayed overnight in a pleasant and spacious room with a comfortable bed and even a two seater settee. Lovely tiled bathroom. The cooked breakfast was good. Excellent value for money and we would stay there again
Review 79:Bedrooms a little warm, but fans are provided.
Review 80:Great hotel, in easy drive to town centre, plenty of parking. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, excellent bar/ restaurant food served quickly and hot.
Review 81:The breakfast waitress was a little too laid back. Could only get wi-fi in the lounge/bar area, not in the bedroom.
Review 82:The Hopping Hare is in a quiet, residential setting (unlike so many of the hotel chains in Northampton). On arrival there was a problem with my room but the Receptionist took personal charge and sorted everything out while sat and drank a glass of wine in the bar area. Food beautifully presented, lovely shiny glasses on the dining tables, the bedroom was very comfortable and modern, the bathroom was clean and bright. Gorgeous creamy scrambled eggs for breakfast!
Review 83:Uncomfortable Bed, Small "Double Room", Wardrobe opened into the side of the bed, Make-up on the towels, Bathroom fan broken, mouldy shower, the "Tradesman's entrance card swipe after midnight", feels like the Hotel is a bolt-on business to the bar / restaurant
Review 84:Great building, bar area and restaurant, the full English Breakfast was very good. Free parking, lots of spaces. Good location.
Review 85:was a lovely stay and we were made to feel very welcome. the room was very comfortable. just a couple of issues with the bathroom, shower cubicle was grubby and the bracket was broken so the shower didnt stay in place. Breakfast was fantastic. We will stay again!!
Review 86:The tv was a little bit funny but by the time i finished my ale i didn't care
Review 87:Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff were great and they had a nice selection of ales. Room was very comfortable and plenty of sockets for charging. The best part of this stay for me was the food. Amazing!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat
Review 88:Don't want to pick fault but if there is one thing missing it was a mirror to dry hair. The dryer was in the draw and was really good but no mirror anywhere near . I understand it was because of the wall shape but a free standing mirror on desk would of been brilliant .
Review 89:Beautiful rooms we had room 18 on the top floor . Very clean and well equipped loads if hot water . Had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent and also great breakfast .
Review 90:There was some mould in the shower tray which detracted from an otherwise perfectly clean and nicely decorated bathroom. Couldn't fault the room otherwise. No aircon - but they provided a very efficient fan.
Review 91:Hotel was easy to find, the décor was lovely - especially in the conservatory restaurant (NB.they could do with more photos of both restaurants and the lovely outside terrace on their website!). The staff in the restaurant were very efficient and friendly, and made a fantastic dinner even more so. No lifts, but friendly staff took our cases up to the rooms. Lovely breakfast too. Rooms were very comfortable and again decorated to a high standard. We used this hotel for a visit to Silverstone and would definitely return here for future Silverstone trips.
Review 92:Breakfast service a little poor- only one person on duty and had to ask for marmalade and when toast eventually arrived it was only cooked on one side.We advised the waitress and she said she would bring some more. The rest of the food was fine.
Review 93:Room good ,venue pleasant, food good
Review 94:We asked for the cheese board @ a price of over £17.00 for 6 cheeses. What a disappointment after a great meal, each cheese was approx 3cm x 4cm and one was only the outside rind concealed under a bunch of grapes and celery. To be fair to the staff they took it away and did not charge for the course. Apart from this slight hiccup witch I hope the management will look at their portion control and rectify we still considered the whole stay excellent value for money.
Review 95:Friendly staff, lovely spacious room immaculately presented, Evening meal from a la carte excellent with one exception (more later). Wine was good at a reasonable price Breakfast very good, cooked freshly to order. Nice comfortable bar area.
Review 96:The chef on the second night was not of the same standard in any way.
Review 97:The chef on our first night was excellent. We really enjoyed every course at dinner.
Review 98:Nice room. Good location. Excellent food.
Review 99:Excellent food and service, definitely would recommend for an overnight stay with dinner, v good value for money
Review 100:Very creaky noisy floorboards in the rooms and halls.
Review 101:Delicious food, very comfortable bed.

Review 107:The staff were pleasant, the room was spotless and dinner was delicious. Incredibly good value for money.
Review 108:staff were so helpful and the food was terrific. the room was a bit small but super clean and the bathroom was brilliant.
Review 109:There is no residents lounge the only sitting areas is in the bar but for 1 night it was okay.
Review 110:Lovely comfortable rooms and great reasturant.
Review 111:Mouldy sealant on shower, told the receptionist who said she would sort it (room 2)
Review 112:Great place to stay, lovely cozy room.
Review 113:Found getting to the room with luggage awkward getting up the narrow stairs and hallways
Review 114:wonderful restaurant
Review 115:The ONLY let down was a lack of tissues in the room.
Review 116:The staff were wonderful, friendly and polite.
Review 117:Nothing. Superb.
Review 118:Amazing food. We booked at short notice and they were able to provide vegetarian and vegan options. Very happy.
Review 119:Good food
Review 120:Very little
Review 121:Very friendly staff and excellent food.
Review 122:The location of this hotel is perfect, staff very friendly and always willing to help..great hospitality from start to finish.
Review 123:Rooms quite small
Review 124:Nice location, free parking, boutique stule
Review 125:Price of drinks
Review 126:excellent food and saxbys cider
Review 127:Room too small not clean enough. Simple things like damage to bottom of door, TV controls had no back on. Toilet not clean
Review 128:Very good breakfast
Review 129:No air conditioning in the room made it unbearably hot
Review 130:Hotel staff are friendly
Review 131:We liked our comfortable room and the position of the hotel
