Reviews for Westone Manor Hotel

Review 1:No running water from hot taps in first 3 bedrooms....moved to different 'wing' of the hotel where rooms had hot water. Woken up at 8.30 Sunday morning by workmans hammer-drill on floor beneath.....

Review 2:There were workman working in the corridor and I was on night shift but I guess they have to do the work to improve the hotel.

Review 3:The hotel seems to have had a refurb since I last stayed. Bed comfy enjoyed my stay. Will be staying again when working in the area

Review 4:Choice of food on the bar menu very limited looks like it was thrown on the plate. I had steak and ale pie. Got gravy no veg but lumpy mash potatoes. Pillows were rock hard and shower takes a lot of getting use to.

Review 5:Staff friendly

Review 6:Rooms are very tired. Shower was very poor. Rooms need a full renovation.

Review 7:Great location. Only 8 minutes from Blackmills industrial estate. Staff were nice. Nice car park with plenty of space in a quiet location.

Review 8:room was pretty basic, though adequate. traces of damp on ceiling/walls hadn't been repainted. old-cigarette smell, still, in corridors. card-lock didn't work first time around and had to be reprogrammed, wi-fi didn't work at first try but did the second time. shower neither hot nor strong. didn't look at all like the picture on website which gave the impression of a country house!

Review 9:very friendly and helpful staff

Review 10:No heating in part of hotel, including bar and my bedroom (portable heaters supplied but never got the room to acceptable temperature. No apology or discount offered. Had to walk and get voucher for breakfast (not offered when I checked in). Generally miserable environment, atmosphere and staff.

Review 11:Indian food was fairly good

Review 12:Overall the place was just too cold. A few degrees warmer would make all the difference. They didn't offer running a tab against the room to pay on checkout.

Review 13:Indian restaurant excellent food. Comfortable bed.

Review 14:No heating No hot water Damp tea bag still in packet TV hanging off wall Noisy neighbours at 10.30 pm Dirty walls Stood on Hair grip on floor

Review 15:Bed

Review 16:No receptionist in the night as I got locked out of the room hung about for ages trying to get help Not enough to tea/coffee in the room and staff couldn't find spares

Review 17:The friendly receptionist

Review 18:Not a bad experience but not great either, restaurant is an Indian restaurant so choice limited if you don't like Indian, there was not 1 customer in the restaurant on my visit so I didn't go in and skipped food that night.

Review 19:Position of Hotel to my meeting following day

Review 20:The room smelled of damp - I alerted the front desk and was told I couldn't be moved as they were full. I asked if they could at least provide some fresh scented plug ins (there were empty ones plugged in) and was told this would happen. It didn't.

Review 21:I got upgraded and the room was clean with nice decor and the bathroom was clean with a decent shower.

Review 22:I have already lodged a complaint about my stay. After looking at thephotos on the booking.com web site we were shocked when we arrived atthe entrance. It was nothing like the photos, so much so that we thoughtwe were at the wrong hotel! Building works were being undertaken at thetime and a narrow entrance hall leading to reception with electricalwires and cables coming from the ceiling. We were first shown a room inan adjoining block that had no security on the outside door. The roomwas dark and over looked the garden where debrie from the building workwas piled high in the corner. We said we didn't want to stay as wegot bad vibes from the hotel and wanted our money back only tone toldthat wasn't possible! They gave us an upgraded room in the mainbuilding. We had been at a conference all day so very tired by thistime. The view over looked a flat roof where some cents were covered inblue plastic and some brick edging was missing. The toilet wasdisgustingly dirty around the rim.

Review 23:The bed was comfortable.

Review 24:we paid £65 a night and had to have a cold shower as the mixer was faulty, we told reception and they offered another room the next night but that was no good as we were leaving. Went to breakfast in the morning only to discover it wasn't included in the extortionate room price and would have to pay I reminded them about the cold shower we had but they insisted we would be paying. Someone placed towels in my room at six in the morning and left my door open while I was sleeping. The kronenbourg was pongy and the fosters was flat did tell them but they said it was fine. I stay away a lot and this is definitely the worst hotel I've stayed in for the price.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Shower barely working, so had to use bath but water only tepid on two consecutive mornings. Breakfast service dreadful, so bad I only had breakfast on the first day of my two night stay. TV not working on all channels - no ITV

Review 27:Very nice four poster bed

Review 28:Staff were courteous. However I three visits to the reception as key card did Room 510. Was upgraded to 204, and then had another guest entering my room while I was in there. Key card not change I suppose.

Review 29:I noticed have been improving the hotel over a couple of years

Review 30:Disgusting , avoid if possible at the moment they seem to be having issues FILTHY PLUMBING the sink was blocked and the shower never worked, no shower curtains Food, I ordered a pie and mash absolutely inedible asked them to take it away and it stayed in the corridor all night for others to trip over

Review 31:nothing

Review 32:They placed me in a room above a redecoration project. I was awoken at 7:15 to the sounds of an electric drill. The newly decorated room didn't even look nice when finished.

Review 33:There was only bar meals , the restaurant and Indian were not open ,the food was awful, the staff were not very well trained.there was building work going on

Review 34:The bed room was nice, but no hot water

Review 35:Not enough tables in bar area for eating food. (new restaurant due to open shortly) Television or (connection) needs updating for viewing sports.

Review 36:Good, polite service from the staff, particularly the bar manager. reasonable food menu - oriental dishes very good Convenient for my place of work.

Review 37:The hotel was being refurbished staff were inexperienced I was kept awake most of the night until 5 am by extremely noisy people and when I tried to call reception for someone to deal with it there was no answer. I made a complaint the next day but no one has bothered to reply to me

Review 38:Staff need training on customer care in particular staff on reception on morning of departure. Hotel noisy in night despite being empty, breakfast cold , bedroom tatty and neglected.

Review 39:Disorganised feeling, construction site, narrow unfinished temporary entrance, furniture is 1930s kind of classic, shower house required replacement, feeling of requiring refurbishment, breakfast is £10 and very few items served, parking was disorganised and cars are parked where should not be parked, cheap door handles, restaurant is more like a bar, there is little but not much choice and customisation in food, two old stepper exercise machines lying at the entrance of separate building where rooms are located, room corridor lights half lit to save electricity.

Review 40:Comfortable and warm room, good mattress, clean, larger TV, manor house, restaurant

Review 41:Food service, very slow. Only one member of staff manning bar and serving food.. Menu very Indian food based.

Review 42:The rooms were nice and clean, nice large bath.

Review 43:The bath taps would not run without holding the mixer switch down and then the bath had no hot water and low pressure. The shower had no hot water. The drawers were damaged before I checked in.

Review 44:The staff were excellent during the stay. Ringing the management to discuss the problems prior to booking another stay and I was totally ignored. I'm still awaiting the managers return call to ne within the hour on 08/10/15

Review 45:Smokers went out the fire exit me the corridor smelt if smoke on the ground floor only

Review 46:I booked a room in the manor it was REALY lovely. There are some rooms for conference attendees which are pretty standard. The bar was great and there was a large sitting area with comfy chairs and an open fire.... Excellent

Review 47:Bar restrictions,11pm close. and noise from some kind of building works to the hotel. Price a little steep with no breakfast included ( £10 extra )

Review 48:Staff were ok,

Review 49:Poor customer service from all but one member of staff, very dated décor, and incredibly poor value for money given I have paid half the rate for far superior hotels elsewhere

Review 50:Rooms clean, one member of staff was pleasant but new and unable to help with enquiries, other two staff I met were awful. Room was clean albeit cold

Review 51:Receptionist rude. I stood in reception for ten minutes with other waiting guests without her acknowledging any of us. She was trying to sort out some double booking calamity (why am I not surprised). Room was small and full of battered old furniture - very gloomy. Small tv on wall bracket in the corner of the room which you could not adjust. I asked for an iron and ironing board to be sent to my room and despite asking on several occasions it never turned up. Breakfast is a joke. Fresh fruit looked like chopped up old apples in a bowl of water. There was nobody there when I entered and when the waitress did arrive I was asked if I was ready to order! There was no menu and no food in sight!! I was then told that breakfast was a full English. The sausage was black and looked like it had been cooked once too many times, the hash brown on the other hand was hardly cooked at all. Awful.

Review 52:Not much. Barman was pleasant and worked very hard to look after customers. Should not have been on his own.

Review 53:Watching new staff have no support from the owner. Over an hour for simple order of pie and chips to arrive. The refurbishments that are going on- of which no mention of on the website.

Review 54:The entertainment provided by the staff doing there best during a busy evening and watching the guy who was clearly the owner deny his position to all the guests that were complaining

Review 55:The hotel was totally upside down due to refurbisment. Restaurant facilities were extremely poor and the srvice was non-existent!

Review 56:Could not think of anything!

Review 57:Probably the worst service I have ever experienced in any hotel I have ever stayed in at any time. I sat down in the restaurant at 8.15pm and my meal arrived at 9.45pm. During this time I had to go to the bar and ask to be served, spend 10 minutes at the bar ordering a steak, which they didn't have in the end, and had to chase my food up. I think they were short staffed however no one took any responsibility whatsoever for communicating with customers and informing us what was going on.

Review 58:the evening meal looked like it was brought from tescos and put on a plate with a bit of parsley thrown on top and served. The breakfast was well over priced at £10 per head it had been over cooked reheated afew times left to go cold then served up both meals left us hungry

Review 59:unusal abit like fawlty towers

Review 60:The breakfast was dreadful. Building work going on that we were not told about when booking The bathroom sink was loose on the wall with loose taps. The shower was very slow. And a delivery that turned up at 05.30 outside our window that woke us up And empty beer cans left along the hall way

Review 61:Very dated rooms, very dusty, even the head board was caked in dust, shower didn't work, radiator was broke and couldn't turn the heating off it was red hot, no breakfast included, not even a continental option, would of been cheaper and cleaner to stay at the premier inn down the road

Review 62:Hotel was ok, although, hotel was almost empty so why was I given a room where there were workmen using power tools directly outside my window, even though I could have been given a room on the quiet side of the hotel. When I complained I was told that I should have asked for a quiet room if that's what I wanted. As though so people prefer to have power saws outside there window. It spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay. Wouldn't return

Review 63:Room was fine.

Review 64:room a little dated but place is undergoing refurb

Review 65:Nice place secludedNice staff! Receptionist was a little shocked when she saw me I'm my costume <am a crossdresser>but did not say anything! Was very sweet

Review 66:There is a gem of a beautiful old building hidden under a hideous seventies façade but more building work is underway so for the moment you walk through a building site to get to reception but it should be nice when it's finished.

Review 67:Indian food was superb

Review 68:No bad experience, but the breakfast on one of the days was a little lacking. we came down 20 minutes before finish and the choice was diminished, no croissants, no yoghurt, no milk, no toast, weak coffee, and the full breakfast was order via waitress, prior to this it had been buffett service, when it came it was a a bit 'portion control' we had to ask for the usual things that should have been there, sauce, milk, etc..

Review 69:Very quiet rooms, got a good nights sleep every night.

Review 70:Very under staffed & this showed in all the aspects of all their customer service, the cooked breakfast was complete rubbish probably the worst I've ever had from an Hotel, the restaurant doubles as an Indian in the evenings & the hash browns tasted more like onion bhajis so probably cooked in the same oil as the night before!!! The residents bar closed at 11 on the fri & sat nights we stayed & seeing the hotel is situated slap bang in the middle of a housing estate there was no where within walking distance to get a drink after this time not even a night porter to serve so you could take to your room, the bar was definitely CLOSED, although this was probably for the best due to the Loud & rude non resident clientele that attended the bar when we ate thier on fri night!!! This is a total shame because the main part of the hotel is a lovely old stately Hall type building & well kept but I can honestly say it's clean but it's very Basic. With a few more bits of attention to detail this could be a really nice hotel to stay at but my thoughts are that this won't happen under the current owners so would I stop again at £102 a night ? not a chance unless the room rate was greatly reduced to the level of a youth hostel that it's equivalent to.

Review 71:Little effort made to minimise disruption of building works. Whilst the hotel is being renovated, room 403 certainly needs a makeover. Very seaside-holiday feel about it.

Review 72:Beds were comfortable, which allowed us to sleep reasonably well. We were staying at short notice to deal with a family bereavement and did not use the main facilities but would not have paid £10 each for breakfast.

Review 73:i was very disappointed i had booked two rooms one for my daughter and her husband and 9month old bay who were kept awake til midnight from the noise of the nexted room they made three compliants but nothing was done they were disturbed at 3.45 am with young residents fighting outside there room i think the management need to look about letting groups of young people to behave in such away this spolit our family weekend

Review 74:the location of the hotel was ok

Review 75:The lighting is poor (no central light) and you have to get up to turn the bedside lights on and off at the wall by the door. The lamp by the desk didn't work.

Review 76:I have stayed in the cheapest rooms once before and decided never again, but this time I had Room 3 in the main house and for a bit extra, it was miles nicer. The room was a good size with character. I am likely to stay again.

Review 77:No cold water to cool the shower - so unable to have a shower in the morning. Room too hot and could not turn the heating down. Over whelming noise from other rooms.

Review 78:The bed was soft

Review 79:Difficulty of reaching room, 5 fire doors bet. us and lift. Not easy to manage with wheelchair. Annoying as we requested a room near the lift. No map supplied so never found the bar or restaurant.

Review 80:Spacious room with nice views, quite comfy. Liked having chairs and table.

Review 81:I really liked the personal service - the receptionist Hilary arranged a specially-cooked meal for me on Sunday evening, and Simeon the barman does a great job!

Review 82:Apart from the man behind the bar who was friendly, the customer service was appalling. Truly shocking. Dreadful value for money & most definitely would never return.

Review 83:What did I like? Not very much. However the (single) room, albeit very dated, was clean. And I didn't have a cockroach in my bedroom unlike one of the other guests staying at the same time. So that was good.

Review 84:Rude staff at checkout, room definitely in need of renovation - not been decorated since the 1960's - wore shoes all the time as the carpet felt damp and dirty. Not worth £85 per night.

Review 85:Damp room, cold, I had to put towels over the bed covers for warmth, Room splattered with paint on carpet etc recently painted

Review 86:Clean sheets and towels the very basics

Review 87:Staff were rude and off-hand. Very difficult to get served at bar as barman was discussing his driving test. Bought evening meal and food was very bad. Room was too hot as heating was on full blast. No way to change it as all rooms were on one system so they gave us a fan!

Review 88:Clean

Review 89:Room very cold, central heating not working. Had to ask for heater for room. Refurishment on going, but it seems reception is the work currently underway but the hotel in general needs upgrading for the amount charged.

Review 90:Staff very friendly.

Review 91:Constant heat from radiator unable to turn it off-dial malfunctioning Constant works ongoing. Person cutting wood right outside our window -no privacy Staff false and and truly welcoming Wrote down card details into paper without my permission Shower broken and spraying out water from all directions

Review 92:Free wifi Free parking

Review 93:Dropping beddings behind the door looks messy in the corridor, definitely not good idea looks like rubbish on the door

Review 94:The place is nice, value for money and the stafs are very helpful. I will use it again and would recommend.

Review 95:I arrived late and the Car Park was dark and reception area was the far side of the building and building work was taking place.

Review 96:Free parking and near motorways. Price was ok. Staff allowed me to stay till 12.00 which was good

Review 97:Arrived and had to wait over 15-20 minutes the woman on reception was so slow and unorganised. The hotel is doing renovations at the moment which doesn't help. The shower was poor with slow running water. Would recommend but only for an overnight nothing more.

Review 98:Although the room was average it was comfortable.

Review 99:The directions directed you to the back of the hotel. Hotel was in the midst of refurbishment.

Review 100:The proximity to Sywell aerodrome. Excellent steak for dinner (although the service was somewhat chaotic).

Review 101:The management was VERY rude!!! If there was not many clients staying that day they just shut the restaurant and bar without prewarning the guesses!!! The food was ok but VERY basic! I had an up graded room, well I won't want to see the basic rooms!!! Ive seen better B&B accommodation then this!!!! The management have not got a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was other guesses there that thought it was a whole joke the way it was being managed, if you could called it managed !!!!

Review 102:Nothing!!!!!!!

Review 103:This property is an old manor house converted and extended into a hotel, sounds exciting!!!! But it isn'T. The whole place is let down by thedismal gloomy decor that really needs updating, so unpleasant was theambience of the bar area that I did not eat or drink in there on thesecond night of my stay. This horrid state of affairs continued into mysmall bedroom with white wallpaper that had faded with age giving theroom a "grubby" type of appearance, along with furniture thatwas the type one would buy from a market stall and you can imagine itwas not a welcoming place to sleep in. The cleanliness of the bathroomleft much to be desired, bath taps and shower head not properly cleanednor was the bath itself. There was a lot of building work going on butdid not interrupt my stay just hope they update the rooms as well but Iwill not find that out as I will not be staying there again. Vastlyoverpriced for what you get.

Review 104:Friendly and helpful staff, Nice firm but comfy double bed. Location forme was very good, near to the main road with links to the motorway. Nicewell cocked food.

Review 105:In need of updating, the back of the bathroom door had black tape covering an old hole. The shower took a good ten mins for the water to come through warm and then it bearly was. But as I said in above we were told the hotel was being updated.

Review 106:The beautiful building. And we were told by reception that it was being updated.

Review 107:Toilets loud and thin walls so could hear people in other rooms. The block where our room was located looks a bit outdated compared to the rest of the hotel.

Review 108:Friendly staff when arriving late. The lobby area and restaurant area decor is nice.

Review 109:Nothing to dislike but nothing to like either, if it was £50 a night find but £102 without Breakfast is vastly overpriced

Review 110:The Bed, very large and comfortable

Review 111:Room small. Water dripping from skylight. TV not working. Bed too hard and set against wall on one side. Outside very dark when arrived didn't know where reception was as notenough lighting in car park.

Review 112:Distance from our sports venue we attended.

Review 113:The carpark/entrance area was a building site and there werent enough parking spaces. The room smelt strongly of drains/toilets. The entrance to the annex building had treadmills in that people had been messing about with and there was what looked like blood all splattered on the floor around it.

Review 114:The gardens were lovely

Review 115:Rude staff, poor customer service, chef refused to cook and was seen smoking outside of the restaurant whilst guests were waiting for their food, breakfast was appalling and at £10 per person an utter disgrace. When a request was made for some fresh cooked eggs for breakfast the response was 'chef is busy, sorry we can't help you'. Restaurant was dirty, service for food was slow and the food (when it finally arrived) mediocre.Instead of apologizing for the poor service we were told that they have no problems because the hotel is always fully booked and therefore it can't be that bad. Faulty Towers would have been a luxury hotel compared to this very very poorly managed hotel. The attitude from staff was disgraceful and can only be put down to very poor management. no water for bath and a really bad shower with no water pressure did not help the situation either. distinct smell of sewage in the corridor and bedroom. I would never ever stay here again and a full refund for this nightmare of a stay would be appreciated.

Review 116:the room was clean and it is was a convenient location to major roads

Review 117:Annex bedroom are run down needs updating. Door would not close to bathroom tape masking hole in door. lots of work going on to main part of hotel..

Review 118:Lovely old building, original features, comfortable bar and restaurant area..

Review 119:Understaffed. 2x staff swearing in the bar. Sticky tables. Very slow service. Showerhead faulty, dripping and loose sink. Could'nt connection to wifi anywhere in building. Definitely over priced. We can't see how it got a star rating. There are improvements going on a the other side of the hotel but this is no excuse for wasting our hard earned money.

Review 120:Room was nice.

Review 121:About 95% of the stay! Staff were miserable, wifi didn't work - were told too many people were on it - room was filthy and only one tea bag and toilet roll. Luckily I won't have to stay here again.

Review 122:I liked the location as near the motor way and I liked the large car park.

Review 123:Staff were very pleasant and polite, room was clean, warm and the bed was very comfortable. Very relaxing having a drink on the veranda overlooking the gardens. Also the hotel had a pleasant atmosphere, I would recommend the Westone manner hotel to anyone.

Review 124:The shower tap was difficult to operate and dripped constantly. the room No 517 was located above the smoking area, and the carpark facing window had to be kept closed as smoke and noise came into the room. The bar didn't open until 17:00. The breakfast was disorganised and the room could have done with some background music.

Review 125:The room was spacious & clean, restaurant food was very good, and good value.

Review 126:Was told free Wifi in your room, unfortunately there was no Wifi, I asked reception why and was told sometimes it works other times it doesn't, not the answer I was looking for

Review 127:Staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble

Review 128:Telephone not working so had to walk to reception to ask for things. Only stayed one night, but still not working when checked out

Review 129:Staff provided the things asked for quite promptly

Review 130:Not informed when booked of extensive renovations No food or drink served before 5pm, very strange Lack of staff around the hotel Rooms very tired and a number of things not working in the superior room, rooms should be checked before guests arrive

Review 131:Nothing really

Review 132:Arrived to find building work in progress. Signs to reception not clear, ended up going through a private wedding reception to get to desk. Got room key and were pointed in general direction of room, after getting lost twice, another guest explained how to find annexe - needs more signs.

Review 133:Location was good and bed was comfortable

Review 134:Rain came through ceiling into room Very limited dinner menu available Refurbishment work being carried out Very limited service available View from Room - Uninteresting Room Cold

Review 135:The receptionist on our arrival was very rude . Even tough we booked as a family they put us in separate buildings which distressed the young children. We did not accept the first room they showed us as it smelt rank

Review 136:After a dreadful start the manager was most helpful

Review 137:Faulty towers comes to mind It would had been nice to have been toldthey where only serving Indian food on Saturday they never repairedbroken toilet

Review 138:Staff ok
