Reviews for Portfinn Lodge Guesthouse
Review 1:Room and breakfast. Just looks like a business that is run down with no effort to improve.
Review 2:Twin room was terrible. Small with single glazed window. Was told on arrival that if the heating goes off, take out a heater from the wardrobe and plug it in. No tv in the room. Breakfast poor at best.
Review 3:The shower head holder was broken so we had to hold the shower head in order to shower. The bed needs to be replaced as it squeaks at every turn or even if you sit on it.
Review 4:Great Location close to village, friendly & helpful staff, good breakfast, lovely view from spacious bedroom. Good value.
Review 5:The accomodation very poor, there was an awful smell when we entered the house
Review 6:The view and the breakfast looked good, i did not partake. My husband did and enjoyed
Review 7:The place could do with updating it's decor - it's a little dated/musty. Staff weren't from the west and didn't seem to know too much about the area. Room was a little cramped. Restaurant was closed when we were there. It's not as remote as pictures suggest, it's in the village and directly beside the road.
Review 8:This is budget so it is value for money. The breakfast is really lovely, as is the view over the bay in the morning. Staff gave me a front room with a view when I requested it. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Review 9:From the first phone call the staff were friendly and on arrival we had travelled for a while so were impressed by how quick the check in process was. The location was superb!!!!
Review 10:Restaurant service is a little too formal for a B&B. Although both service and food served very efficiently a more friendly warmer approach may be more appropriate for a village location. I had an issue with some food which was replaced without question and remaining meal was excellent.
Review 11:It's location for views and walking distance to the local pub are brilliant. Alex was a great host.
Review 12:Bedroom was poor. Not enough space to swing a cat!! No T.V. or radio!! Could not get into the shower (corner doors to small) on-suite small and obviously a space taken from original room. Have never stayed in such cramped conditions. (1 day enough) Glad to get out of the place!!!!!
Review 13:Friendly staff, neat and clean.
Review 14:shower flooded . No night porter and was locked out of my room all night after giving the keys to a member of staff . Breakfast was awful so I gave up in the end
Review 15:The location
Review 16:Our room location was too far away from the wifi and kept disconnecting , if staying again would like a room closer to the wifi.
Review 17:The breakfast was very nice , a nice range of food to select from.
Review 18:wi-fi ,no tv in the room but is no big problem ..
Review 19:mountains. Friendly service, standard rooms. Fanatstic view of the sea and the Very tasty dishes. I recommend the lamb, which was made perfect, melt in your mouth. Buying tickets for a cruise, it was very favorably reduced. Very good place. I recommend:) Darek
Review 20:The weather was a bit disappointing but can't blame Brian and his team for that.
Review 21:Just stayed for one night, but would definitely recommend. Warm welcome from Brian at check-in with coffee and warm fresh scones. Very comfortable and great food at both dinner and breakfast. WiFi that works! (Some of the more mainstream hotels and guest houses could learn a thing or two from Portfinn Lodge).
Review 22:the room smelt of damp this needs attention, had to leave the window open on a very windw night but it did not hlep
Review 23:staff very welcoming, we had a lovely view from our room of the Kilary fjord, Great breakfast

Review 26:rooms aren't very well sound proofed. had to tell people talking in the hall at 11pm to go elsewhere. not a big issue
Review 27:Food was amazing. dinner and breakfast unreal and service is fabulous
Review 28:We had this lovely meal on the first and only evening at the portfinnrestaurant and the waitress suggest to add it up to our roombill, surprise surprise the morning we check out we had to find out thatour meal bill was 75euro!!really overcharged for a sharedstart,2mains,2soups and no drinks at all just tap water, the food wasamazing but as on the menu there were no prices showed for each dish itwas a bit tricky and consider the "deal"was 2starter and2mains25euro pp then how we end up to pay more and eat less?!!the billshould been breakdown instead the receipt just said open food 75euro!!wewould never expect to pay over60euro!a bit of a cheeky tourist trap somake sure u ask and get your meal bill right.

Review 75:portfinn lodge is a lovely friendly hotel with excellent staff- there if you need them, otherwise leave you to come and go as you like. food excellent
Review 76:Poor acoustic insulation, we could hear neighbors laugh and talk at night
Review 77:Friendly staff / Amazing view from the room (the fjord and the mountains from the bathroom and the mountains and the sheeps from on the other side) / Great food (mussels and lamb were excellent)
Review 78:Only a minor quibble was that neither room had a hairdryer but a member of staff provided one straight away on request. We also felt the breakfast while adequate was a bit boring. Most places in my experience offer omlettes and kippers etc. The muesli looked very tired, and the rest of the buffet could be improved with some fresh bread etc. The toast was barely lukewarm, the full Irish wasn't very tasty and the poached eggs were bullet hard! We realise the staff were very busy and this would not stop us from staying again but definitely room for improvement there, especially compared to the fantastic dinner.
Review 79:The staff were fantastic. Really welcoming, friendly and helpful. The two twin rooms we stayed in were fine and spotlessly clean. The view of the fjord from our bedrooms was spectacular. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food/service was excellent. From the Lodge it is only a short walk to the village. Altogether we had a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Could not recommend the restaurant highly enough.
Review 80:Decore a bit tired
Review 81:View of the fjord was beautiful and yhe service was great. We were still on our home timezone and the staff were able to cobble together a room service meal even though the kitchen was technically closed.
Review 82:Our room wasnt very impressive and overlooked the back of the hotel. The best rooms were on opposite side of the corridor so don't ask for room 8.
Review 83:The location is fantastic set in Leanne it's great for a base for touring and the hotel overlooks the fjord
Review 84:Set in the heart of the village close to lively pubs, this lodge is perfect for good food and stunning views. The relaxed friendly atmosphere make this a superb place to stay if you like peace and quiet.
Review 85:A very minor thing but a radio or tv in the room would have improved our stay. But as I said a very minor issue.
Review 86:The staff were excellent. The food quality was also excellent. The scenery is out of this world. A great place to just get away from it all and relax.
Review 87:Breakfast wasn't brilliant but was just adequate.
Review 88:The View from our room was stunning as was the surrounding countryside. The evening meal in the Restaurant was good.
Review 89:Food was not quite as good as I remember from last year. However the portions were generous and served with care and kindness
Review 90:I liked the friendly atmosphere. I liked the views from the rooms. I liked the bright cheerful rooms even if small
Review 91:Capsule bathroom a bit of a logistical struggle to use
Review 92:The welcoming staff, and the view from the dining lounge. And the no-fuss way they accepted my dinner requests, which were a riff on the menu.
Review 93:Asked for early breakfast and promised that we would be facilitated, but this did not happen. Restaurant rather expensive and portions very small.
Review 94:Food was good. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable
Review 95:Our twin room was small & in need of updating.
Review 96:The cruise on the Killary Fjord was very good. Sheep shearing display in the woolen mills. Relaxing in the sitting room. The people are lovely.
Review 97:There was nothing to dislike during our stay in Leenane
Review 98:I particularly liked the location of Portfinn Lodge Guesthouse and scenic and fjiord views from bedrooms and general areas
Review 99:Room temperature was a little chilly on a rainy irish day, lackof complementary tea and coffee in the lunge room , lack of wifiin the room.
Review 100:Restaurant is good in a location where nothing else is really availbleto that level of quality
Review 101:Off hand reception we got, no owner on premises overnight. Had to gosearching for towels as none left in room. No T.V.in room, verysubstandard breakfast
