Reviews for Inn On The Prom At The Fernlea Hotel
Review 1:Hotel felt a little tired, paint peeling on woodwork, damp marks on walls. Balcony door leaked but was persistent wind and rain for several hours. No steam room in the spa but sauna jacuzzi and pool were in good working order but could only use one day as shut for maintenance.
Review 2:Location was ideally located for st annes town, buses to Blackpool and Lytham, sea view room (155) with huge balcony, would be ideal in warmer weather. Large selection of food at breakfast and great value for money. Large lounge area and bar, Staff were all very polite and helpful.
Review 3:Food in the bar was expensive and not great, but plenty of other options nearby.
Review 4:Nice location, very clean and great facilities. Breakfast had good choice and was nice.
Review 5:We had a boutique room which I think was slightly overpriced but otherwise can't complain
Review 6:Everything was excellent.nice room, good breakfast and the staff were really friendly.would come back again
Review 7:One very small moan the room was uncomfortably hot at night which resulted in a poor nights sleep which is a shame as the beds were very comfortable .
Review 8:Excellent
Review 9:Too hot. Too noisy. Room was dirty & tired. Curtains hanging off the track. Found items in drawers left by previous guests. Could hear what upstairs was doing in the toilet & when flushing sounded like it was in our room. Creaky floorboards, could feel the springs sticking out of the mattress, dusty room & in the corners all around the bathroom. The bath had seen better days too. Feel sorry for housekeeping as it was far far too hot. Lot of money for what we got. Reception could do with giving information too when checking in. Such as, what time breakfast is at & where it is served & how to get to it. Breakfast however was very nice & had everything to offer. Staff was pleasant. As a previous employee of Premier Inn, a lot could be learnt from Premier. I dont mean to be rude just give an honest review
Review 10:The location
Review 11:The room was very warm I think the heating is controlled centrally. There was a fan on the ceiling that didn't work and something that might of been an air conditioning unit on the wall with no instructions or obvious way to turn it on. We solved this by sleeping with the windows open.
Review 12:Good size family room with friendly helpful staff.
Review 13:The bedroom was to dark you had to have light on during day because it was to dark they need to descale kettle every so often the build upon kettle was awful it needs a good cleaning inside kettle
Review 14:Only criticism was there was no soap in shower dispenser however as soon as I mentioned it it was topped up.
Review 15:Heath club facilities and my daughter who is 5 loved the Halloween disco
Review 16:We were allocated room 57 but due to the deafening noise that lasted all day from 5.45 am to 10.30 pm we asked to move. The early morning receptionist was very helpful and allocated us two rooms instead of the family room we had booked. These rooms were very good, and we later learned that the kitchen fans were the cause of the noise.
Review 17:The pool facility was good. The receptionist on Monday morning was very helpful
Review 18:rooms to hot and very noisy from rooms above evening meal not till 6.30 late to go out with children
Review 19:good location parking excellent good base for us with the children, children loved the pool
Review 20:Great evening entertainment for the kids, we went to the bar for a quiet drink at 7.30 and ended up there til 11.15, it was a great night, kids loved it :-). We'll definitely be returning
Review 21:Pokey family "boutique" room with 1 double and 2 single beds crammed in and a view looking out onto another part of the hotel. Throwing in a totally dysfunctional "free" WiFi and a chaotic room numbering system which seems to confuse everyone leads me to say this was not good value for money.
Review 22:Clean, good swimming pool, good breakfast, good location.
Review 23:Only gripe was found someone's receipt in the blanket that was folded on the bed and plastic tag on floor so not sure the cleaners are trained properly!!
Review 24:Staff very friendly, good position
Review 25:The standard of cleaning, room decor, overall misleasding photos when booking. Basically run down filthy room.
Review 26:Linda in the spa/treatment room, Location, bar/lounge area.
Review 27:The lovely way the staff greeted our dog, they where welcome anywhere in the hotel except the restaurant but the staff were willing to serve our meal upstairs in the bar area.
Review 28:We paid 115 for a double room room was dark no view top of the wardrobe was thick with dust no remote for tv and the hairdryer was dangerous as no cover on fan blades my wife said we should complain but you get sick of it they said the room was ready so if that's how it is that's how it is we booked 3 rooms for 1 night costing nearly 400 as it was my 50th birthday sod the expense but we were very dissapointed
Review 29:It was all about the location for us we know the area no stag or hen nights
Review 30:Waiting for the breakfast items to be replaced, the décor in the room was a far lower standard then the rooms shown on the web site. Very noisy could hear disco below us until midnight. Wall were also paper thin with squeaky floors. Woke early by someone parading about on squeaky floor above room.. Wont be staying here again..
Review 31:The position of the hotel was great. the staff were very polite.
Review 32:The pool and changing rooms need refurbishing - it's filthy near the jacuzzi and cracking up round the pool
Review 33:Helpful staff Great breakfast Lovely room - we stayed in a boutique room
Review 34:We stayed with our two girls who are both under 5. We were put in a room right above the function room that had entertainment on until 12am. The children and my husband and I could not hear ourselves think let alone sleep. We also had no blind in the bathroom and our room was on the ground floor facing the back of the hotel with other rooms and windows in full view of the room we stayed in.
Review 35:Good location
Review 36:Maze of corridoors, quite clostrophobic, lighter decor would help. Noisey generator on early hours right outside our window, room 164 I think we were in.
Review 37:Location excellent! Very homely. Clean and comfortable.
Review 38:Room tired. Window lock broken. Pool changing rooms limited. Steps to pool from changing room need to be negotiated carefully.
Review 39:Breakfast good quality. Good level of service
Review 40:The only fault was some of the floor boards creek.
Review 41:The staff are extremely friendly. The rooms were clean and modern. The best bit was the breakfast! There's a choice of cereal, porridge, fruit, continental, and full cooked breakfasts! It's a help yourself so you can get whatever you want. The bar is well stocked and the beach is right across the road.
Review 42:The condition of the rooms for the money is terrible, value for money is ridiculous, our original room was disgusting so we complained to be told that they are full and offered us a family room, so as soon as we asked for our money back, a upgraded room become available, and even the upgraded room was still not upto standard, but it was much better than the first room.
Review 43:Very little
Review 44:We thought it was over priced for the room condition, rusty bin and black mold in bathroom. Compared to some of the other expensive hotels we have stayed in.
Review 45:Lovely location and friendly staff. The breakfast was also excellent, probably the best we have ever had.
Review 46:Too much noise. Could hear music from ballroom event until late and lots of noise from next room. Decor in bedrooms tired.
Review 47:Public areas are attractive. Good breakfast with plenty of choice and attentive service.
Review 48:Nothing to not like
Review 49:The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble Breakfast was very good. All piping hot and good choices
Review 50:the room, either 51 or 52 was horrible, very dark and so claustrophobic. We could not open a window and the lights were hardly worth having on, so dull. We could not see into the wardrobe at all.Miserable room altogether.
Review 51:The bathroom was really nice, the only light place in the room.
Review 52:Poorly maintained room and very old fashioned bathroom. The corridors leading to room give impression of haunted house than a modern hotel. One sees photos of new part of hotel on website and pays £145 for a night and then one finds out on the day that room is awful. I think they should clarify on their website of double standards of their rooms/hotel.
Review 53:Location and breakfast was good.
Review 54:Dark room and noisy seagulls attacking th e visible rubbish bins.
Review 55:Friendly staff and the lovely gesture of balloons and champagne in our parents room to celebrate their Diamond wedding.
Review 56:Window opening in bedroom very limited and no bathroom window at all so room felt stifled. Poor Saturday evening entertainment -disco? No quiet communal are for guests who did not enjoy disco. Poor choice of food on evening meal.
Review 57:Hotel nice and clean and in good location
Review 58:Boutique double room was very small and uncomfortable because of that fact. Not particularily clean and in need of a revamp. Considering that l paid £180 for two nights in advance ( April '15 ), l expected much better accomodation. The manager of the restaurant attemped to seat me in the middle of the restaurant "because l was on my own and that was a table for one". He was reluctant to remove one set of cutlery from my preferred table but l sat down there anyway. I will further add that the restaurant was not full at the time. Consequently, l did not enjoy my breakfast because of his attitude.
Review 59:Not a lot except the late night staff who were very well mannered and attentive.
Review 60:Quality of carpet in room 53 was terrible. Disapointed with standard of diner meal.
Review 61:good quality resturants within 5 mins walk. Breakfast was very good
Review 62:dont stay in room next to the bar unless you stay up late, they have a disco that is very loud until 1130!
Review 63:the lounge area is very pleasant and the seating outside
Review 64:Very noisy, could hear the people in the rooms on either side of me. I paid £90, there were no nice toiletries or biscuits, things that make a difference.
Review 65:first room wasn't of a very good standard (this was a late booking) being very cramped wit poor fittings and noisy( water pipes etc) - swapped rooms after first night second room was a lot better standard and not the same noise level.
Review 66:the location was very good - staff were helpful and friendly
Review 67:This was a lovely hotel with great service. Stayed here while visiting a friend and the location was perfect. Walking distance to everything you need. Booked a massage and facial too and Linda the consultant was excellent - great value and well worth a visit. Would definitely return to this hotel again.
Review 68:Booked a large double room , think it was superior double , got family room with double and single, with small bathroom. Reception said there was no large double available then next day changed story to say it was a superior room
Review 69:some of the staff where very pleasant and helpful
Review 70:We paid for a boutique family room, but the bed linen and curtainsdidn't match up with the photographs on the web site. The size ofthe room was ok but thought it would have been bigger and set outbetter. The bathroom was great but lacking in toiletries, a small bar ofsoap with 2 wall dispensers. The dressing area was a good space butcould do with a coat of paint. The corridors to the bedrooms are verynarrow and could do with redecorating.
Review 71:The staff were friendly and efficient. The lounge, bar and receptionareas look really nice.
Review 72:As above , also several carpets were going threadbare
Review 73:The hotel overall was good , however the furniture in both the room and in the restaurant was shabby and should be updated and we don't think the pricereflected this but the reception area was nice
Review 74:The room/bathroom was not as expected very dark and bathroom was old. the bed quilt was full of feathers that pricked you and sheets had marks on..the alcohol was off after the 5th pint poured it was still not right..the breakfast was standard but eggs were slimey £150 for the one night was to expensive
Review 75:The entrance and pool
Review 76:Unpleasant staff member running breakfast. Noisy at night in neighbouring rooms. Breakfast food was okay but could have been better quality.
Review 77:location and facilities
Review 78:I could have done with a safety rail when getting out of the bath, there was only a towel rail to grab that I felt was not safe enough. At breakfast the lids on the b beans and tomatoes were unsafe, people commented on this
Review 79:you were very welcomed by the bar and waiting staff. very friendly and helpful The bath didn't have a bathmat but on leaving a note one was left for us when we got back to the room.
Review 80:All the family enjoyed our stay and it was great that the pool opened late as we didn't check in until the evening after we had spent the day at the pleasure beach so we all enjoyed relaxing in the pool afterwards also we had time to go in the morning as we were given a late checkout at 12.00 at no extra cost. We are planning to visit Blackpool with our younger kids in October and will most definitely be booking with yous again.
Review 81:I'm spoiled at home with a "Tempur" mattress but slept reasonably well. Curtains could be more generously cut. Mechanical noises and vibration from Chillers/AC or Kitchens noticed evenings and at night. No clear public view of Prom or Beach with lowered blinds during Day.
Review 82:Very friendly staff, responsive and polite. A sensible Menu for Meals. Smart decorative features, finishes and modern style design. A decent television could only be improved with a built-in real time programme guide. Realistic Costs.
Review 83:Our room was in the dingiest part of the hotel - furthest away from reception. It was in an old building that had been annexed. Poor bathroom with a 'chipped' blue enamel bath and unmatched white toilet and basin. Not a single shelf in bathroom, so toilettries had to go on floor.
Review 84:Friendly staff and excellent location
Review 85:The hotel was a nightmare to navigate thought a rabbit warren of corridors and staircases to get to the room .. everything old and tired.
Review 86:Location, Staff
Review 87:Swimming pool slightly too cold. Check in time is 3 which is very late and check out at 10.30 which is far too early
Review 88:Breakfast! Jacuzzi and steam room was lovely!!! Staff were friendly!! Rooms we're big enough with hot water! Appearance of hotel was up to date and modern .
Review 89:No liquid shower gel/handsoap in any of our bathroom dispensers and no little bottles of complimentary shampoo/gel which meant we had to wash with a stamp sized sliver of soap. Should have brought our own but just expected there to be something.
Review 90:Great staff - comfy bed, hot water and good shower. Fab food, nicely arranged rooms and communal areas.
Review 91:Location,handy for beach and shops.Friendly staff ,excellent breakfast.Value for money at time of our visit.Free Wi Fi in our room.Good pool and gym facilities
Review 92:Make changing room area looking tired !. Reception staff although pleasant, seemed rather uninterested compared to the other close by hotels.
Review 93:Reception area lovey & comfortable. Size of swimming pool & our room was a good size.
Review 94:given a different room to the one I booked ! with howling, barking dogs. noisy families, tired decor in the room.bathroom grubby
Review 95:pool,sauna was good.breakbast was lovely.staff friendly
Review 96:Tired furniture in room. Cold room. Paid for an upgraded room but after looking at other rooms we seem to have the worst room in the hotel. However we did get a refund on the upgrade
Review 97:Hotel in good location.
Review 98:I was with a three year old child, we went out for the evening and returned back to the room, I was told upon receipt of room service (most of the menu in the room was out of date and unavailable) that there had been 2 complaints of noise from next door, it was around 11pm and with a 3 year old I'm aware what excessive noise is, we were all sat on the bed watching TV, there was no shouting or unruly behaviour. when I queried this the member of staff told me I was talking too loudly to him. I advised that I had paid £145 for the room and would resume talking at my usual level. If next door had a problem, they should feel free to address me but it would be in his best interest to deal with them himself. I am not a child and do not appreciate being spoken to or made tO feel like one, had it been daft o' clock I could fully understand but it wasn't. It was a Sunday before a bank holiday Monday. I understand this is not the member of staff's fault but feel that it was handled badly. I can't comment on breakfast as We didn't bother going down in case I ate too noisily or my son behaved like the three year old he is and we got reprimanded for that too. The room was described as boutique for which I paid extra but apart from a bit of feature wallpaper I don't really know what warrants the title boutique, it was by no means a horrible room, it just wasn't from previous experience what I would call boutique or worth the fee associated with them.
Review 99:The reception staff on arrival were helpful and friendly. The reception was nicely decorated and the grounds were pleasant.
Review 100:The bedroom and ensuite - looking out on the back of the hotel, were dated and overpriced - few frills, one towel each, no floor mat in the bathroom, one power point socket for everything including the kettle! The bed was dated and not very comfortable.
Review 101:Room was quiet and breakfast was very good
Review 102:The price was far too high compared to other hotels for the size and quality of the room.
Review 103:The reception, bar and restaurant areas were nice and the snooker room was a bonus.
Review 104:The room was not cleaned to a high spec eg; there was dust on the lamp base. However it was not dirty and the quality of the bedding and towels was good.
Review 105:The hotel had clearly had some refurbishment and this gave it a stylish appearance.
Review 106:Initial allocated room was very small for the price but the staff soon put that right, great service.
Review 107:Gym is well equipped and although the pool seemed small at first sight it was more than adequate. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was nice and plentiful.
Review 108:Bathroom was very cold due to window being open all the time. It was locked open so we could not close it. Made sure we didn't linger in the shower!
Review 109:Plenty of room to relax. Lounges were nice & quiet and staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 110:For the price of the room it was quite poor. The picture shown when I paid looked beautiful, but when we arrived the room we were in was so different...old fashioned, nothing like the photo. The room was freezing even though we had the heating on full. The radiators didn't even feel warm. The evening meal isn't very good either.
Review 111:The hotel itself is gorgeous. The staff were really helpful and friendly, especially with our 6 week old and 2 year old children. Felt very comfortable during our stay. I mentioned that it was my partner's birthday and they had put a bucket of wine and some balloons in the room.
Review 112:The hotel was comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the cornier set apart to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday was much appreciated.
Review 113:After dinner wanted a few drinks in the bar. Unfortunately there was a huge party installed and not a free seat to be had. To be fair the staff brought out some more seating after we complained but not the atmosphere we'd hoped for......plus kids running round playing tag and playing with a remote controlled car under the seats!
Review 114:Pleasant room, dressed up with red balloons and petals on bed as it was Valentines. Nice touch! Evening meal and breakfast in restaurant were good.
Review 115:Children's entertainment going far too long it started at 8 o'clock ish and by the time it got to 10 15 my husband and I had had enough and went to bed. Come on surely an hour is great but what about the adults. There were plenty there
Review 116:cheap quality produce for breakfast and overall price was not good value for money.. paid premium rates for so called "Boutique room" wouldn't do so again
Review 117:location
Review 118:The rooms were in need of updating. The room we were given at first was at the other end of the hotel and on the ground floor, Reception sorted us another room out after complaining.
Review 119:The hotel reception and bar area was good
Review 120:Paid for a boutique room but only given standard.on full view in our room from next doors balcony!
Review 121:Excellent location.good to know its dog friendly if travelling with pooch in the future!
Review 122:We had a family room with double bed and two singles and all the beds squeaked everytime someone moved !!
Review 123:Beauty treatments/Massage are excellent.Leisure facilities are very good.
Review 124:The restaurant on the Saturday evening had a very limited menu and closed quite early. Standard check-out time was early for a weekend, but late check-out was easily arranged.
Review 125:The hotel has a great location, rooms have been tastefully renovated and everything was clean. There was plenty of parking and the building has a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful, so things such as arranging a late check-out were easily dealt with. The bar and café areas are good and the pool, jacuzzi and sauna were very nice. We will definitely re-visit.
Review 126:I booked through booking.com stating family (2adults, 2children and a baby) -and was given a double room (receptionist changed the room straight away)
Review 127:Breakfast was excellent, and staff were very friendly
Review 128:The gym and pool area looking very tiered and some areas of cleaning had been missed.
Review 129:The location was great, the staff very helpful and the food was excellent.
Review 130:I could not fault this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Review 131:Location Staff - especially reception staff Hotel Food - Breakfast was superb and we also had evening meal there one night which was superb and the restaurant staff we fantastic!
Review 132:standing in line with plate in hand for help yourself buffet breakfast, reminiscent of queuing in works canteen.
Review 133:pleasant helpful staff good size swimming pool good location for both sea front and town centre cheap deal, £60 per night for boutique room
Review 134:We stayed in the hotel on the friday and saturday night. We left the room at 11am for the day and on our return the housekeeping staff had not cleaned the room
Review 135:Bit noisy at night, could hear people returning to rooms and doors in corridors seemed to slam shut.
Review 136:Large family suite. Loads of facilities onsite. Good breakfast selection. Activities laid on for children.
Review 137:Hotel was like a rabbit warren with narrow passages. We asked to get moved to another room because in room 182 there's a finger wide gap when the window is closed. The breakfast area was far to small for the number of guests staying at the hotel. We had to wait 30 minutes before we saw any bacon come out of the kitchen. Only paid £50 for the night so can't complain with price. Darren from Halifax
Review 138:Bar area looked nice
Review 139:The beer was a bit pricey
Review 140:Family friendly with indoor pool nice restaurant and excellent choice of breakfast. The kids enjoyed it while we had a meal at night.
