Reviews for Riverbank House Hotel

Review 1:The staff were fabulous, so friendly and genuine. They Recommended places to go for dinner and entertainment, and arranged a taxi for us. Lastly, when they found out we had a car journey ahead of us, they gave us complimentary bottles of water to take with us.

Review 2:Bar and menu were expensive Room at the back looking into the bins, shame considering the beautiful view at the front of the hotel.

Review 3:Reception staff were wonderfull

Review 4:The wifi signal didn't reach the room very well. There weren't enough channels on TV - mainly English channels . I would have liked more Irish channels

Review 5:I liked the lovely ambiance - the lighted entrance and the lovely open fire when you walked in was so welcoming. The Staff was so welcoming and attentive.

Review 6:Hotel and especially the room I stayed in very outdated, dark dreary curtains and walloaper, there was mould on the walls and ceiling, the fan extractor was very noisy, breakfast was rubbery and tasteless. I went into restaurant for dinner it was like a school canteen.

Review 7:Very friendly receptionist on arrival.

Review 8:The only complaint I would have is that I was not permitted access to the spa without a swimming cap but there were men sitting in the spa with no hat and children in the pool with no hat I have very short hair as well maybe something to consider rules for all.

Review 9:The location was excellent and rooms very comfortable unfortunately we had some rowdy children in the room next door whilst we were sleeping at midnight rang through to reception and we were offered a room change if speaking to the other guests did not help, we did not have to change rooms and our small complaint was handled extremely well.

Review 10:The bed room was a good size but the room & bed needs up grading to a more modern look.

Review 11:The hotel is close to Wexford town but not in the centre. The ferry boat is a short drive away. Very nice looking restaurant.

Review 12:The whole place is very tired.bar area very worn.my mother got wrong omlette and it was undercooked my sister got an overcooked one,and my nieces sausages wernt cooked enough.my sole was OK.the tablewear wasn't clean and the waitresses uniform was scruffy.

Review 13:The beds were confortable and the sheets were clean

Review 14:I did not like my room for two reasons the double bed was not a double it was two single beds put together and there was mould on the ceiling.

Review 15:Staff on reception was really friendly, I only stayed for one night. The lady on the front desk on Tuesday morning directed me on how I can get to Galway in the car. She was spot on. I left wexford at 10.30 and reached Galway by 2.00. Thank you

Review 16:The hotel was too cold, particularly along corridors to rooms and in the reception area.

Review 17:The staff were so helpful and friendly. The food was amazing too.

Review 18:-poor lighting at the entrance to the room and the bathroom. -no coffee left on my coffee dock, only tea. -bed was extremely uncomfortable. There was a metal bar down the centre of it. -the big, velvet curtains covered the heating unit under the window. -room was very tiny and there was no where to sit comfortably. -the hotel is across the river from the town.

Review 19:Absolutely stunning entranceway in to the hotel. The outdoors and lobby are filled with candles. The food in the restaurant was outstanding.

Review 20:The lighting in the room wasn't great, not great when applying makeup!

Review 21:the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. Room was spotless and bed was very comfortable. Shower was powerful.

Review 22:The rooms are large and clean / spotless. However, some of the decor needs updating but it is all very charming as it stands.

Review 23:We have stayed at this hotel 4 times previously during the annual opera festival. It is well run and organised with lots of staff who are always on hand to help and give any information needed. It has a nice family friendly bar, which is always busy, and serves up good classic food dishes. In terms of costs, it is great overall value, probably the best in Wexford town. Also, the hotel has free car parking.

Review 24:Nothing!

Review 25:The staff were fantastic, great kudos to the young lady in reception. Friendly, courteous and professional. The food was lovely and the room was warm and comfortable.

Review 26:Large, empty, cold bar. Bar staff said it is usually quieter though place was almost empty. Didn't like that price quoted on site does not include breakfast, seems sneaky to me!

Review 27:nothing

Review 28:On top of all other superlatives, your young receptionist excelled with her assistance and manner. We particularly appreciated the travel gift on our departure - we have never experienced that before nor after. Thank you

Review 29:Heating a little erratic. I have a slight movement problem and shower was difficult to access because of narrow doorway.

Review 30:Staff friendly, very hepful and welcoming. Good sized room with comfortable furniture.

Review 31:I booked the room for my sis & bro n law for 1st wedding anniversary present as they had got married there last year & when they checked in they were up graded to honeymoon suite

Review 32:There's nothing significant to dislike, my only tip is if you want a room facing the river, make sure you request it in advance as there is no many rooms with a view. Again, I do not consider it a low point or bad thing at all.

Review 33:Really nice hotel with a great landscape view of Wexford town! The rooms are very clean and spacious, the bed is comfortable and good size. Nice bar and restaurant facing the river, where we had a delicious and well presented breakfast next morning. The staff were super helpful and kind, we went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they had a nice little touch in the room for us. At the check-out another nice gesture when one of the staff offered two bottles of water already packed in a bag so we could bring with us in our trip back. Last but not least, probably one of the best wi-fi signals I ever had in any hotel I stayed so far.

Review 34:Poor lighting in the room, there was no room light just lamps which meant the entrance area was always in the dark. Small car park.

Review 35:Most of the staff on reception were pleasant and gave it the personal touch, breakfast staff not as friendly.

Review 36:Having to leave so soon!

Review 37:Great location and the incredible friendliness of the Manageress and staff. I real Irish charmer. Other hotels could certainly learn from this one.

Review 38:Room was quite expensive (131 euro) and breakfast was not included. Previous night in Carlow was a better quality hotel including breakfast for 110 euro. Noisy guest in middle of the night.

Review 39:Close to the city.

Review 40:The room was very small there actually wasn't room for our suitcase and the hotel decor could do with updating,

Review 41:The food was fab and the staff were lovely and friendly,

Review 42:Very friendly and helpful staff. Requested a room overlooking the river which was quite luxurious having a very large comfortable bed and very modern bathroom not to mention the lovely view from the window, the well maintained garden and conservatories and in all a very cosy atmosphere.

Review 43:Our room looked out on to the area where all the rubbish bins were kept. We Didn't complain as wew were only at the hotel for 1 night arriving at 7 pm and departed the next morning at 10 am

Review 44:The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a spacious ground floor room. The location of the hotel was good only a 10 minute walk over the bridge to the main shopping district . We really enjoyed the food in the hotel pub restaurant. The staff were very pleasent and very efficient so the service was excellent. The place is very big and it was full on a Wednesday evening.

Review 45:Nothing to report.

Review 46:The staff was very accommodating. We made a late change to our reservation, and Nieve as gracious. We had an amazing dinner on the restaurant onsite. Great service....they gave the kids a nice treat after dinner. It was a chocolate egg with toy inside ! Lastly, Nieve helped is secure a dry cleaner in Wexford for same day service!

Review 47:Only wee problem was size of parking but there was a car park nearby so one can park there .

Review 48:The staff welcoming helpful food excellent. Loved the flowers at the entrance

Review 49:All the staff are so helpful and cheerful, Loretta in Reception a delight and always so helpful and welcoming. we have stayed several times at this hotel and found it to be friendly and comfortable. food is also excellent. we would recommend this Hotel and hope to go back again soon.

Review 50:The bathroom was a bit tight, but well equipped. Also, at 2:30 a.m. I was awakened to the sounds of people having incredibly loud sex somewhere in the building. I know this isn't the hotel's fault.. but it went on seemingly forever, while I lay there cringing and trying to fall back asleep. Hotel management would try to quiet a raging party I'm sure - is it ever appropriate to step in on something like this?

Review 51:The staff were absolutely delightful, dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant overlooking the river were some of the best I had while away, and I loved the cozy antique-ish feel of the room!

Review 52:Sliding door was off the shower but is going to be attended to

Review 53:Staff were so genuine and nothing was a problem. The staff were excellent and made the trip so easy and enjoyable. It was like home from home

Review 54:This was a great little surprise for us. Neat old hotel with a great restaurant and a beautiful view of the bay and bridge. Lots of places to walk and a great boardwalk on the other side of the bridge.

Review 55:Although the room was lovely and comfortable the only downside was that there was no bath only a shower.

Review 56:Staff very nice and pleasant, also very helpful towards us.

Review 57:no entertainment,no cosy bar atmostphere, very little parking facilities, room and bathroom quite small

Review 58:very friendly staff throughout hotel, good location town centre within walking distance. excellent food

Review 59:Property easy to find. Free on site parking. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced and comfortable. Was a popular place for dinner, most pubs being empty, everyone was at the Riverbank Hotel.

Review 60:We stayed only one night. Our experience was very pleasant. We were accompanied by two young men who did not manage to wake up for breakfast. As they had a busy day ahead, I only had to mention to the receptionist that they missed breakfast and she arranged a substitute meal for them in the lounge area. We were also offered complimentary tea/coffee while we waited for them. Those are the personal touches which one only gets in small hotels and which adds very much to the memory of the experience.

Review 61:2 big windows in the room neither of which would open, just 1 very small window opened which was too small to remove the musky smell from the room and didn't let even a little cool air in, as the room was incredibly warm. Didn't like it at all. I am very prone to allergies & asked to change room because I knew I would have a bad night in a room with carpets and no proper windows but they couldn't change my room so they left 2 small fans in the room which did not make any difference. I had a very bad night. Toilet was very small with a dated & musky shower curtain. WiFi didn't reach or work in the room despite being beside the reception area.

Review 62:Breakfast was great - something for everyone. Friendly staff.

Review 63:Doors were a bit heavy for manouvering a wheelchair.

Review 64:The staff were the most helpful, friendly and happy that I have ever met in any hotel I have stayed in previously.

Review 65:We had a very pleasant stay at the River Bank. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We have stayed a few times now and will definitely be back.

Review 66:Everything was fine but the weather was very warm and as a consequence our room was a bit stuffy as the windows didn't open fully I didn't feel the quality of the breakfasts matched how good the evening meal were

Review 67:Warm, friendly staff, great bar area with river views. Excellent bar food and lively atmosphere. We were given a family room which had a very large comfortable bed and a smaller single bed so had plenty of room, although the bathroom which was quite large had a small corner entry shower (could have installed a larger cubicle in the space) . When we left we were given 2 bottles of water which was a very nice touch Quirky old building

Review 68:Would have loved a bar fridge in the room, staff were very kind to give us a bucket of ice though.

Review 69:Staff were so friendly and helpful, very impressed. Rooms were comfortable. Great restaurant attached.

Review 70:As this is an older hotel, rooms were a bit dated, but were clean and comfortable. The free wifi didn't work in our room, so we needed to go out to reception area. I would still stay there again as the staff were so friendly and the breakfast was great.

Review 71:The location was perfect, next to the river with views of the town. Breakfast was excellent, cooked breakfast to order and high quality fresh fruit, cereals and pastries. Staff were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 72:Room was not ready on arrival at 5pm in evening and had provided estimated time of arrival. Shower didnt have hot running water following morning.

Review 73:staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 74:We liked the proximity to the river, making walks very easy along the shore and over the bridge. The on-site restaurant has a nice menu that was very tasty. Convenient after a long day of driving.

Review 75:I'll start with the food, which was delicious. We ate in the bar/restaurant on two occasions and both times we ate delicious food, as other reviews have said. One of us is vegetarian and had plenty of options, all of which were really tasty and presented nicely. The staff were also very friendly and really nice to deal with from the moment we walked in the door. Helpful with advice, directions and their general demeanor was 'welcoming' from beginning to end. The ambiance is simply lovely. We walked in on a June summers day on a Friday, but the lit fire and all the lit candles dotted around the hallways gave the place a really nice feel, which I must admit was unexpected. The candle, plant life (none of which are intrusive in anyway) and 'feel' of the hotel give made this stay more than pleasant and I would have no hesitation going back again, even for the food alone.

Review 76:Very friendly welcome all staff excellent and nice food especially fish choices at breakfast. Good location against river and sea, short walk over bridge to town.

Review 77:It would have been helpful to have breakfast served earlier for those needing to leave for a ferry.

Review 78:Immensely stylish hotel with great ambiance and facilities. Wonderful menu with talented chef and fine wine for the price. a strong sense of paying for a Ford Focus and getting a Rolls Royce. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 79:Room was a little cold on arrival. Pillows were very soft not all that comfortable.

Review 80:Perfect night away. Hotel staff very welcoming and friendly. Food was by far the best we've had compared to any other hotel. Would highly recommend and we will be returning for another stay:-)

Review 81:Too much furniture in room - lose a table - it would give more space. Windows open made doors rattle and windows closed made room too warm.

Review 82:Staff were most accommodating and helpful. Food was very good quality and very tasty.

Review 83:Very nice settings with attention to detail. Room very spacious and nicely decorated. Staff are excellent and very welcoming! Quiet - we had an excellent sleep.

Review 84:The rooms were lovely and the bed was huge. We were surprised as we stayed in hotels with higher stars and they were dirty. This was a very pleasant stay.

Review 85:Very welcoming receptionist; old style bedroom which was spotlessly clean..old style does not mean shabby; it was a charming place to stay. Great bar food and lovely atmosphere. Lovely harbourside walks just outside and public leisure centre beside the hotel. Would go back.

Review 86:The room and hotel is very dated cracks in the bedroom walls and in need of a re paint. Room very small and dull our duvet cover had stains.

Review 87:Amazing food and staff.

Review 88:No bad experiences during our stay. Lo

Review 89:Beautiful setting in convenient location, yet just 700 m from Wexford city centre. All the staff we dealt with were exceptionally friendly and always helpful & efficient.

Review 90:Lovely position. Absolutely amazing staff, nothing was too much. Helpful and friendly. My wife and I felt we had known them for years even though never having visited the hotel before. A very homely hotel.

Review 91:Stayed overnight at the Riverbank Hotel. I had flu and the staff just couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and warm and a lovely ambiance. The food was excellent but above all, the staff were second to none. I wont be staying anywhere else when I'm in Wexford

Review 92:Towels were not clean. The sink was slow to empty water

Review 93:The staff and the rustic feel of the hotel was interesting and non conventional it was full of character

Review 94:Nothing it was excellent and good value

Review 95:Such friendly and helpful staff I left a phone charger in me room and they had it for me when I returned a week later.

Review 96:Nothing

Review 97:The staff were so attentive, and made you feel special during your stay. Five star treatment provided, bottles of water provided on departure for the journey home. Pre arrival call a few days before to make sure everything was ok and ensure that special requests were being met. Had a lovely stay great food.

Review 98:price of alcohol & food - but tasted great

Review 99:gorgeous food, friendly staff, comfortable room. Staff were phenomenal - didn't have to lift a finger and couldn't help us enough

Review 100:The wifi signal wasn't the strongest, frequently dropping out of range (not a problem) and the bed wasn't particularly the comfiest for me personally...I stayed in a double room and the two single beds were pushed together but one was slightly higher up than the other giving a little bit of a ridge in the middle of the bed...Nothing major i still got a good nights rest :)

Review 101:The staff went above and beyond for me (particularly jackie and coimhe) They brought items up to my room and even organised my train travel home! I was made to feel very special and looked after :) Loved the roaring fire in the lobby and the views over the water in the morning and evening were lovely! Would definitely stay again!! Such a cosy and comfortable wee place.

Review 102:not really, shame the whirlpool bath wasn't working and the curtains didn't quite close leaving in too much light for my liking but these issues are nitpicking.

Review 103:a large 4 poster bed with large flat screen tv, plenty of room to sit, copies of Irish Tatler in room,, free newspapers downstairs. Good breakfast.

Review 104:Staff were so friendly especially Sheila who was so helpful got us an early check in which we really appreciated. We will definitely be back again. Food was amazing

Review 105:Lighting could have been a little better in the rooms but that's just a girl thing applying makeup. ☺

Review 106:Extremely plenty, helpful and curtious staff. fantastic food. Very warm and inviting atmosphere.

Review 107:Stayed the weekend at riverbank our, second time and again everything was excellent, would fully recommended to anyone thinking of staying here Mark Dublin Ireland

Review 108:The Hotel is itself is old but there is a motto. If it's not broke don't fix it. It all adds to the petina and character the hotel the staff were so friendly and food excellent. Also the location is just brilliant!

Review 109:Just a small point that in no way effected my stay, shower was very hard to get right, too hot or too cold!

Review 110:Staff extremely courteous and very welcoming.

Review 111:Couldnt fault anything for the price... great value ..will definately not hesitate to stay there again ..

Review 112:Nestled in lovely grounds ..great view across the bay.. very peaceful relaxing place to chill out.. yet still very central for all the shops ..opera house etc.. welcoming staff when we arrived.. big open fires ..so cosy. Room well heated ..

Review 113:The location, easy to find, the staff, attentive, friendly and retained a high level of professionalism. The food, described by them as bar food was excellent, at least on a par with good restaurants for a very reasonable price!

Review 114:Very decorative Xmas entrance to the hotel was followed by warm welcome and open fire. Room and facilities excellent. With one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. Hotel bar of character bustling with life and very good food.

Review 115:Bathroom was on the small side, but worked fine. Parking was a bit of a problem when the restaurant was busy in the evening, but the staff were helpful and helped finding an alternative. Nothing major.

Review 116:The staff, the room, the food and the location were all excellent. It was very easy to find and had excellent views.

Review 117:The room 210 was very warm but apart from that a great overnight stay.

Review 118:Booked on the day. Great value for money, food very good and service excellent. Great for an overnight before catching the ferry. Well done

Review 119:Maybe a bit outdated decor but I didn't mind because the service was so good. The wifi was not very good in our room.

Review 120:The staff was excellent. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were extremely helpful. The hotel was small and cute. The breakfast was so good with a lot of variety. The restaurant was cosy and the food was delicious.

Review 121:Tidy up required of rooms. Fresh paint. View of sheds less than desirable from bedroom window. Breakfast looks like a shallow fry affair.

Review 122:Food and overall ambience. Staff lovely

Review 123:A great irish welcome , log fires, friendly staff and a massive room awaited us for our weekend to Wexford. Nothing too much trouble , excellent food and bar. Miss it already Joe kelly

Review 124:The decor is a little dated.

Review 125:I like the location, very friendly and helpful staff. The receptionist Joan was more than helpful, nothing was too much trouble. When you came in from the December cold you were greeted by a warm and cosy fire, very inviting.

Review 126:I mentioned in passing when checking in that my boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing evening and might go to the cinema at which point the lovely receptionist offered to find and print off the cinema times for us online. Later when we arrived back to the hotel with some pizza's around midnight, we had some LOLs with another male receptionist. Room was great, bed was cosy. We'd very happily stay there again.
