Reviews for Overstone Park Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort
Review 1:Where do we start we hoped for a luxurious anniversary weekend and got a hostel like room with cobwebs thick dust and dirt over bedroom walls spiders very second or even third hand bed and springs the mattress was apauling we were so devastated the room may aswell have been outside the quality was so poor
Review 2:Breakfast service and food was good
Review 3:The overstone park is not a hotel. It is a golf club that has a swimming pool. The bedroom accommodation is not even within the club house building. It is across a car park in small wooden lodges. The club house is rather nice, but it is not a hotel.
Review 4:Friendly staff.
Review 5:It was a real shame that our stay clashed with a Christmas function which meant we could not use the restaurant for our 50 th birthday meal. The down stairs cedar bar was accomdating and the food was very good it just would have been nice to have been able to use the restaurant.
Review 6:The accomadation was ideal for our large group. The service from all staff throughout the complex was always polite helpful and very friendly. I would highly recommend overstone park.
Review 7:Badly signposted, couldn't find rooms which are in a selection of outhouses - not very hotel like. Very small superior room with no hangers in wardrobe, no iron and no phone to call reception! No room service. Very basic.
Review 8:Nice surroundings
Review 9:The mattress was quite old and you could feel the springs within pressing through.
Review 10:The premises were very well kept. The clubhouse and free breakfast was very nice.
Review 11:Confusing when driving in as it does not look like an Hotel. The room was boiling hot on arrival and unfortunately as the room had night storage heaters I was unable to turn them off.
Review 12:The room was very outdated, bed was very uncomfortable, room was very small, bathroom was even more smaller with broken shower door so water went everywhere! Bathroom was clean.
Review 13:Staff were ok, we had to wait a bit before we even got acknowledge. But when they did they seemed OK towards us, not made us feel overly welcomed. The outside of hotel looks very nice and great views.
Review 14:Because the rooms are not attached to the main building, if the weather is bad you get soaked. Also the rooms are very tired. Nothing matched. 2nd time of staying and still only set up for one person.
Review 15:The leisure facilities are very good.
Review 16:Need room service! (if you provided room service, I would stay here weekly for the next 6 months whilst I work here) The cold run to the restaurant from my room!
Review 17:Staff were great, breakfast and reception in particular. Good facilities; gym and pool
Review 18:The breakfast. They ran out of clean bowls and bread.Too few staff on duty.seemingly no one coordinating and organising. Very poor.Rooms small and pokyou built for profit not the comfort of guests.
Review 19:quality of dinner / cooking in resteraunt deteriated, used to be better, have stayed and eaten many times but would go out to dinner in future. Bottle of ordinary wine, servignon, too dear.
Review 20:quiet, friendly, good location
Review 21:Accommodation resembled a portakabin. Shower tiny and tray was spongy. TV size of an iPad. Reception surly. Didn't ask if we enjoyed our stay. Difficulty getting a table for evening dinner, ridiculous for a hotel.
Review 22:Breakfast
Review 23:The breakfast could be a bit better run.Everything was just about out at 910 & didn't get topped up.
Review 24:We liked the leisure facilities they were very good.
Review 25:The signage of where to book in could also be in different areas, or at all entrances.
Review 26:Staff friendly, room clean, breakfast excellent All excellent can't fault any of it, would stay again.
Review 27:I booked the hotel as a weekend away I wish they had let me know there was a wedding on as the restaurant was close and we only had a bar down stairs and kids were running around not what I wanted for me and my husband
Review 28:The room was very clean
Review 29:Couple on floor above were walking a crying baby around during the night and the floor boards were very noisy
Review 30:Fun people with very good facilities and enjoyable environment
Review 31:Sadly the only negative comment was that the breakfast was cold from the self service. However to have eggs cooked to order and the friendly waitress more than made up for it.
Review 32:Lovely warm welcome from friendly staff. The bar food was very good value for money, we had burgers delicious!
Review 33:Unfortunately booked room when a wedding was also in hotel, so no unable to get a meal. Had to travel to find somewhere to eat. This was not convenient following a long journey. Restaurants not close by. Would not return if an event was also booked in. Spoilt my stay.
Review 34:Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:My wife and I had a perfect stay at Overstone. The staff were so helpful and we will definitely be stayin there again. The food and service was spot on with a comfy bed to go to at the end of the night. We were up early so we didn't sit down for breakfast but we were sent away with a bacon roll all ready for us when we checked out.
Review 37:Excellent area but the actual "hotel" area (its mostly full of rental properties) is hidden away, faces trees and looks run down. The room was clean but the bathroom was very run down, the toilet rocked, the loo role holder fell off, the shower tray was uneven and the paint looked messy. I've been in holiday inns which have been cheaper and nicer.
Review 38:Good breakfast clean room, friendly staff.
Review 39:Bathroom could do with a revamp...floor has underlying damp, walls are very stained...wooden decking and metal staircases accentuate every footstep....noise in a morning with golfers arriving for early games...groundsmen cutting the greens from dawn didn't help in a good nights sleep...although it was a pleasant enough hotel I would not stay here again...but for the golf enthusiast it is ideal.
Review 40:Quiet hotel surrounded by an extensive golf course...nice pool, sauna and steam room...well laid out with ample parking close to all rooms.
Review 41:The overall state of repair is the main issue here. The hotel and facilities are suffering from dilapidation and it's very obvious to the eye. Cleanliness in both the hotel & facilities were also poor. Due to this we will not return, which is a shame as this place could be excellent. The exterior certainly doesn't reflect on the interior unfortunately.
Review 42:The exterior appearance is fantastic but the interiors really let this place down. Drastic investment is required to fulfil it's potential. Staff were attentive apart from the odd few newbies. Diner was good with decent produce however the same could not be said for the cooked breakfast.
Review 43:The rooms were clean and tidy with all the necessary facilities. However, they were a little cramped.
Review 44:Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff and a good English breakfast. Parking outside the room was very helpful.
Review 45:Dining room food did not live up to expectations. Chicken curry was bland and tasteless. Beef curry - although tasty, the beef was dry and re-heated to death. Breakfast buffet had cold plates and bacon was barely warm. Good selection of items but cold by the time we got back to the table. Would not recommend eating in the restaurant, as the second evening's meal was also disappointing.
Review 46:Pleasant location with views over the golf course. Comfortable seating areas and pleasant dining room. Bar snack menu was good.
Review 47:Not child friendly. Took our 2 young children swimming and we were made to feel uncomfortable for the noise they were making, there were floats at the side of the pool but only for arobics classes. The breakfast was cremated and the only place to eat our evening meal was full of men being rowdy and swearing, would have been nice to have had the choice to sit in a family room.
Review 48:Excellent value for money! The staff were also very pleasant. A special mention must go to the receptionist who checked us in on our first night, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 49:The accommodation was very poor.Small room and pathetic bathroom facilities. Not what I would expect from a golfing hotel. Having stayed previously at Marriott,De Vere, Qhotels Im afraid Overton was nowhere near what we expected.
Review 50:The staff were very efficient and generallyhappy with their work. The view of the golf course was impressive
Review 51:The rooms are a big let down. They are too small and too basic. Also I had 2 minutes to shower before it would overflow. I would stay here again on my own as i'm not too fussy, but I wouldn't bring clients.
Review 52:The facilities are excellent, and the staff very friendly.
Review 53:We were promised evening meal by reception and as we did not want to drive thought it was great. We arrived at the restaurant at 8pm to a half empty restaurant to be told they were fully booked. It was ridiculous. So we had to drive to nearest town on a Saturday night with no booking at 8:30 and hope not to eat curry. We had a fab meal at the casino clarys .Brill best for a long time .So thanks hotel you did me a favour and lost customers and recommendations
Review 54:Breakfast as we served ourselves and they could not turn us away
Review 55:unfortunately the experience while having a meal was not at good enough, the kitchen staff went off before diner had finished their meal, we were not given steak knives with our steak even when we asked for them, there were lots of other things that we had to call the restaurant manager to talk to about, and I am still waiting after two days for a reply to an email we send with our concerns from the manager of the establishment. this will not stop us attending their hotel in the future but I don't think I will eat there again if they have not put into place some of our concerns.
Review 56:The location and facilities were lovely could not fault them at all and the staff were friendly and approachable.
Review 57:Food standard really let the place down: Stir-fry tasted, and looked, horrible; sirloin steak took four(!) attempts to get it cooked without blood - then abandoned by our friend as inedible; breakfast fried egg was actually burnt brown and black on the bottom (!)
Review 58:Virtually everything. Position and views from restaurant really excellent.
Review 59:Bedroom and particularly the shower room fittings were rather basic but functional.
Review 60:Good price for basically comfortable accommodation and acceptable bar/restaurant, particularly given use of the leisure facilities including the large pool were included in the price. Excellent parking.
Review 61:The bathroom was huge but no bath only a tiny shower cubicle with a poorflow shower My sister in law couldn't even get in the shower sodisappointing as rest of the room was amazing!
Review 62:We stayed in the oak suite as there were 3 adults It was amazing-spacious large balcony with amazing view of the golf course
Review 63:The cooked breakfast was poor quality, not enough serving utensils, the steam room wasn't on when we went to use it,the early morning swimmers hogged the pool. And made us felt unwelcome. And just a note to the smokers it's not exceptable to stand on the terrace while other patrons are eating.
Review 64:Surroundings,staff,the club house prices, food, service was excellent.
Review 65:If I had paid the normal price that seems to be quoted for the rest of the year I would have been very happy and probably stayed here again. As it is the greedy management more than doubled the price due to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Your repeat business is now gone as next year I will be looking elsewhere.
Review 66:It was clean and tidy staff were excellent. It amused us that from the back it looks like Bates motel (Psycho) and from the front it looks like The Overlook (The Shinning). :-)
Review 67:The meals were good (not great) I would eat there again. The rooms were very tired (60s) though the view was 5 star. The free golf after 4pm would have been a bonus if I had been aware of it and brought clubs
Review 68:For a weekend away you want to relax and have a sleep in, I thought breakfast being served from 7:30-9:30 was ridiculous for a weekend because you want to have a lie in then wake up and go for your breakfast around 10ish? So having have paid for the breakfast we missed it come of the early times. There were also no telephones in the room to contact stuff, no room service, what if there was an emergency and you needed someone? No telephone, I think that's one thing every hotel should know to have, a telephone in the room for emergencies!
Review 69:Location was nice
Review 70:Rooms a little dated
Review 71:Excellent hotel, and fabulous gym and pool ideal location for overnight business trip or golf weekend. Only let down is the rooms , very dated and small.
Review 72:I cant believe that they would let themselves down with such poor interiors and comfort levels. Definitely time for an interior fit out. Albeit very clean, the beautiful location and people would definitely benefit from a bit of an interior upgrade to the pool / spa areas and the hotels.
Review 73:The grounds and building are all beautiful from the outside.
Review 74:The room is very cramped, very thin curtains over large door, had to hook spare blanket over rail to stop light coming in so much, ok for a short stay but would drive me crazy after a couple of days. Lacks path between hotel and reception so had to walk in the road..
Review 75:Nice restaurant for evening meal and breakfast overlooking the golf course, the price was good mid week and the location was convenient for Northampton, friendly staff, excellent parking. Spa looked great but did not have time to use.
Review 76:Bedroom very shabby cheap furniture, bathroom light did not work, no phone through to reception so when they forgot which room for ironing board could not phone and remind them and you have to walk outside in the dark to get to reception so not convenient late evening or early morning
Review 77:Golf course very nice
Review 78:The only thing I would of liked is a bath instead of a And Breakfast wasn't great.
Review 79:Nice restaurant , good food, friendly staff, amazing facilities included. Have re booked for this week.
Review 80:The resort caters mainly for golfers and the hotel accommodation was overpriced for what you got. Bedroom was small with inadequate lighting making it feel dark and dingy. The bedroom block was a 3 minute walk in the open to the reception and facilities.
Review 81:Nice pool facilities including steam room and sauna. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Review 82:poor breakfast experience, lot to improve, having to pre order 1 egg for your cooked breakfast rather poor, not restocking fruits and pastries as eaten, only 1 type of bread no crackers or cheese and cold meat selection available again only 1 type
Review 83:great hotel and leisure facilities
Review 84:Early check out time
Review 85:Facilities were spot on, staff we very friendly and the indoor swimming pool was cold but when you're using it for its purpose you warm up, plus the jacuzzi and steam rooms are ready for those wanting to chill out.
Review 86:Unfortunately I was on a ground floor room & I had noisy neighbours upstairs... So could here them coming in ... Upstairs & into there room.... Heavy footed. However rooms were great value for money & I would still stay again maybe in the future. Just unfortunate that we booked last min on a bank holiday ! So didn't have much option for different rooms...
Review 87:The grounds were Very picturesque. Lovely location
Review 88:Nothing really, if I had to say something it would be the thin walls in the woodland lodges, I could hear snoring next door!
Review 89:The pool was welcoming and fun to join in the Aqua aerobics! Breakfast was delicious, wide variety.
Review 90:The room was not big enough to swing a cat and it was meant to be a executive room. You could hardly see the tv it was so small. And I don't want to think about what the brown marks on the walls were. We stayed in the room for about 30 seconds before checking out again.
Review 91:Nothing
Review 92:Although the hotel is in the middle of nowhere there wasn't really the opportunity to go for walks as it was surrounded by major roads and housing estates. That said, a short drive would get you somewhere to walk
Review 93:I wanted somewhere where I could use the leisure facilities whenever I wanted. The gym and particularly the pool were always available and not busy at all when I wanted to use them.
Review 94:Room was tiny and like a chalet, just a small block of rooms not connected to main building. The walls were really thin so you could hear others guests. Bathroom had a shower that was tiny and was dated.
Review 95:What was there not to like great location swimming pool golf course great restaurant and good value just a shame the mattress on the bed was so uncomfortable
Review 96:The bar restaurant was disappointing, with dirty glasses every time a drink was ordered, lipstick marks etc. Also the food sounded great on the menu but badly executed. Prawn and squid pasta, raw prawns and overcooked squid and medium rare steak very much overcooked which I had to send back. It seemed that the portion sizes were huge to make up for the quality.
Review 97:View from room was the woods, very calming to wake up to.
Review 98:The rooms are ok, but below standard, quite cold and the bathroom is very small (and again, very cold).
Review 99:Beautiful surrounding, nice and friendly staff, pool and gym, parking in front of the room
Review 100:The rooms were a bit tired and could do with a coat of paint and the shower needed a spruce up too.
Review 101:Restaurant that overlooked the Golf Course was very relaxing after a days training.
Review 102:The accommodation was not a hotel as expected and amounted to chalet room in a block, shower was not big enough to have a proper shower in and WIFI was not available in the room, to be honest I should have spent more time researching as these comments do appear in other reviews but I had to find accommodation at short notice
Review 103:The room, the noise of other guests, although they should be able to do what they want in their room, it's not great when the walls and floor are like tissue paper.
Review 104:Nice views of the golf course
Review 105:The helpfulness of the staff was outstanding and the comfort of the room I occupied was lovely and as a sole female traveller I felt really well looked after.
Review 106:Breakfast was awful with INEDIBLE poached eggs cooked like Barnes Wallis had ordered them. Surly staff running the bar at night. People upstairs extremely noisy....
Review 107:The spa was nice but full of noisy children. The view from our room was really good.
Review 108:The room was very basic. They only have double beds so my friend and I had to share. There were cobwebs hanging from the picture and wall 'ornament'. Although they knew there were two guest because we spoke to them at check in and on the phone, our room had one hand towel & one bath towel. Reception closes at 11pm so when we realised this there was no one to ask for more towels.
Review 109:Convenient for Nottingham, and surroundings were pretty.
Review 110:Reception staff were disinterested in the comfort of our stay. The room was clean however incredibly noisy, the guest upstairs and next door managed to keep us awake with just the basic walking around and watching TV had the walls not been paper think this would not have been a problem
Review 111:The main restraint was booked for private functions on both evenings, the Cedar bar was also shut even though I had been advised it would be open. Complained on the evening about the situation and was advised to complain. The complaint was about the lack of tables to have a meal at, only one coffee table available in the main bar, I have now been advised by the managing director that this is acceptable to eat a three course meal at a coffee table. The hotel advertise 3 area's that you can eat, main restaurant ( hired out for private function), Cedar Bar (only opens in summer) and the main bar (small). If the hotel want to hire out rooms should they not have Private Function Room's. As a guest of the hotel you are way down the pecking order, golf club first the fitness gym then hotel.
Review 112:Location
Review 113:Bedroom was a little cool for my liking.
Review 114:Location was excellent, bar very pleasant with good selection of beers and food. Good gym for those interested.
Review 115:Rooms quite small. Almost fell onto bed as we entered through the door. Noisy plumbing after flushing. Did not feel welcome in bar. Tv and lights started to go off at 2 minutes to 11.pm
Review 116:A mistake was made with my booking and even though the room had not been used I was not allowed to transfer my booking to the correct day. Whilst I understood and accepted it, I did not like the tone the Manager used and she certainly did not go out of her way to compromise or offer a discount of a repeat booking. I therefore decided to not spend any more money with them and booked another similar hotel in the area.
Review 117:The complex was very relaxed and friendly. Our room was like a chalet in the hotel block, on the bottom floor and adequate for our overnight stay with our bicycles. Slept well, very quiet. Use of facilities, gym and pool included in our price. Restaurant had lovely view and very friendly staff throughout. The area around was fantastic for touring; beautiful views, quiet roads, picturesque villages and traditional very old pubs. Plenty more to see another time
Review 118:A small fridge in the room could have helped. If you are not driving then this place is not possible to access at all as it is quite in the middle of nowhere.
Review 119:The room was small but comfortable and value for money. Breakfast every morning was pretty good. The hotel compound is pretty scenic and the golf course adds to its beauty. The restaurant was fabulous and loved whatever we ordered for dinner. Wish my week wasn't a very busy one and I could use the pool and sauna.
Review 120:shower pressure not good.breakfast plentiful although quality of cooked sausage & bacon needs to be of better quality for reflection of level of catering you would expect of this hotel. also hot drink despensers only tepid.
Review 121:room very good.facilities excellent. staff attentive.
Review 122:Only towels for one person, so had to go out in the rain and freezing temperatures to Reception to get more. Mattress very soft. Very thin carpet, so floor cold. Breakfast was disappointing. Sausages were awful
Review 123:The staff were friendly, and it was clean. Leisure facilities good.
Review 124:This is very difficult - after much thought the only thing I can say is I wish I could have stayed much longer 8 days were perfect what could a month have been!
Review 125:The room and staff were excellent, the breakfast was delicious, the gym was very good and the staff were very helpful so I could get the most out of things I'd never used before. The pool facilities were very good unfortunately the Jacuzzi was broken throughout my stay and the pool also failed just before I left, but the sauna and steam room kept going throughout. I was looking for an energetic Christmas to get me back on track - and I got it!!
Review 126:reception needs to be more clearly signposted for the hotel check in. we headed to the sign that said 'hotel' which was only to the actual rooms and it wasn't clear that you had the go to the leisure centre reception to check in
Review 127:staff were friendly and welcoming
Review 128:General overall feel. Good location. Will try and get a round of golf in next time. Pool looked clean and inviting. The next time we will have more time to enjoy leisure facilities and may take the option of having a meal as the breakfast included in our stay was excellent
Review 129:Could do with a bit more lighting around the entrance to the car parking.
Review 130:Excellent breakfast All of the staff that I met were very helpful. Using the gym and pool on my next visit.
Review 131:Hard to find-need better signs which involve 'hotel' Chair in room very dusty and covered in hair Bed wasn't very comfortable Light outside the room at night made the room quite bright, even when curtains were shut Bathroom design felt like an old peoples home Could smell smoke in the room from people outside smoking
Review 132:Gym facilities and view over the golf course Liked the option of using the gym/swim facilities Reception staff were very helpful with directions and very friendly
Review 133:At breakfast every morning there was food on the floor from the night before, chips etc. The tables were also dirty, left over food and salt, they had set them for breakfast but hadn't cleaned them :( horrid. On 1 morning no plates available for breakfast, no coffee, no white bread, no continental breakfast, no milk. Under cooked greasy bacon. Eggs were brought out and were cold before the rest of breakfast was re-stocked. Rooms were cramped and small, only laid out for 1 person, with 1 towel etc, no phone to call reception, it was raining hard and had to walk up the road and across the car park to the reception building - soaked by the time I got there so definitely needed that towel!
Review 134:Good value for money as included the spa, I even joined in a Aqua Aerobics class for no additional cost. Comfy bed Plenty of hot water Hair drier
Review 135:The map I printed out from your site was woefully inadequate. We left Billing Road in the 5pm rush hour and pitch dark, and if it hadn't been for the local solicitor living near by and leading us to the complex, it would have taken us a long time to find you.
Review 136:Terrific value. We wanted a basic room for the night and got so much more. The evening meal was excellent, tasty and well cooked, ditto the breakfast. The treat was the full and free use of the pool, jaccuzzi, sauna and steam room, which we visited twice during our short stay.
