Reviews for Rowallan Guest House
Review 1:We were curtly asked to leave after three nights because we requested some heat in our room in the evenings, an experience of two other elderly guests earlier the same week. Though the days were warm the nights were chilly. Our room did not face the sun and get any warmth during the day.
Review 2:The rooms were clean and well decorated. The breakfasts were good.
Review 3:Only toiletries in bathroom very small bar of soap - no shampoo, body lotion etc. Tea and coffee facilities were 2 tea bags 2 coffee sachets. Size of TV miniscule. Breakfast was good but full breakfast could have been improved by either fried scone/pancake or hash browns.
Review 4:Location was good. Proprietress very pleasant and chatty. Large clean room with comfortable bed.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:The hotel was very warm and comfortable and is a lovely building. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our large room overlooking the garden. The breakfast was excellent and set us up well for the day. The hotel was well located, a short walk from the Main Street. We would have no hesitation in recommending Rowallan Guest House.
Review 7:Room was cold. When we asked for heating to be put on ( at 6.30 pm ) we were told we couldn't be cold and the heating would go on at 8.00 pm! We couldn't have a packed lunch fir the following day and that we could buy stuff at Sainsbury's!
Review 8:Newton Stewart
Review 9:Breakfast was appalling. One of our party didn't even get his breakfast. Weird choices to eat, and sharing tables with other guests. The owner was eccentric, very intrusive, not the place to stay if you want a quiet, private weekend away.
Review 10:The room was nice, bed comfy, location fine.
Review 11:Not a bad experience but picking your breakfast items the night before I feel is a bit odd. You do get one rasher of bacon and one sausage so maybe order 2 eggs!
Review 12:Lovely period house. Room 6 was spacious, spotless and had great view over well kept gardens.
Review 13:Excellent enthusiastic welcome and highly organised. Delicious cooked breakfast. Good for cycling / mountain biking and would like to stay longer next time. Good stop over to or from ferry to Arran or Ireland.
Review 14:Not a bad experience, however the single room rate was perhaps on the high side.
Review 15:The house, the welcome, spacious lounge. the staff. All good and what was expected. A fine example of the best of B&B's in Scotland.
Review 16:The B an B was a short walk from the town Main Street.it was a beautiful house which had been carefully restored.the breakfast was great. Would stay there again.
Review 17:The host was extremely rude while speaking with office staff who booked the rooms for installers staying in the area. Accused guests of smoking in rooms and other various points - guests were asked to leave after 2 nights although was booked for 4 nights. Host also took videos of our Company van and inside the guests rooms without permission. Not the best experience and definitely would not book again
Review 18:The electric shower is rubbish as pretty much all electric showers are....and Newton Stewart doesn't have the most appealing restaurants if you eat out in the evening.
Review 19:very clean, well presented and comfortable. The breakfast was also excellent and our hostess very helpful.
Review 20:The house is ideally located a few minutes walk from the main street in Newton Stewart, set in mature gardens with views from our bedroom of the surrounding hills. Our room was quite large and tastefully decorated. The hosts were welcoming and breakfast was very good. (We were asked to pre-order the previous evening but I think this was to spread the load in the kitchen the following morning) We were familiar with the area but there was plenty of advice for things to see and do.
Review 21:Restricted that only book in a set times Breakfast - 1 (that's one) small rasher of bacon, tinned mushrooms,!!! - fried egg and tomato OK. Attitude When mentioned that TV in room v small (size of a laptop) was told "you don't need to watch golf on TV when on holiday" Said yes" Ryder Cup" . Told well could have gone down to a pub and watched it there.
Review 22:Location. Bright dining room, Spacious and comfortable bedroom.
Review 23:Nothing.

Review 31:Being asked to choose an exact time to come down for breakfast. TV was very small.
Review 32:Large bedroom. Comfortable bed and lovely bedlinen. Lots of hot water and nice towels. Breakfast was excellent but felt with only 7 guests we could have had more leeway in when we choose to have our breakfast.
Review 33:TV although not the most important thing was very small. Could not get into room until after 4.30pm and breakfast times and choice a bit regimented.

Review 45:As I arrived on foot, I had to drag my suitcase up the long, steep, gravelled drive. Didn't spot the doorbell. Also, I would have liked some fresh fruit with breakfast.
Review 46:Located a short walk from the bus stop, the grand old house has original architectural features beautifully preserved. The lovely, bright breakfast room, with big windows looking out onto well kept gardens. It was very quiet at night and I could leave the bedroom window open. Review 107:Period house with lots of quirky bits and pieces .very close to the town .good breakfast
Review 108:Bedside lamps were far too bright. 30 or 40 watt please!! no need for floodlights! (candles are a girls best friend). Very noisy guests who failed to show consideration to others.

Review 110:Nothing. I liked everything.
Review 111:The hotel is perfect. Immaculately clean. A combination of High Victorian/Edwardian architecture and Scottish and African influences in the furnishings. Lovely gardens. I could find no fault with any aspect of it, in particular with the hosts who were congenial and generous spirited in every way. I was in the area to attend a job interview and after my check out they allowed me to work for several hours in their charming guest lounge, which was invaluable.
