Reviews for The Langham Hotel
Review 1:The staff insisted in payment in advance. Their debit card machine wasn't working so he insisted i went to an atm machine.the breakfast ended at 9 which is too early and the knocked on our door to check us out at 11 in the morning
Review 2:Comfortable and clean with a good location and secure parking
Review 3:Too expensive and wasn't allowed entry to hotel because it was after 10pm even though I had made a booking after 10pm.
Review 4:It's an homely atmosphere and away from the city center noise.
Review 5:the private road to the car park is overdue for having the holes filled in
Review 6:nice bedroom with small fridge which came in handy and the breakfast was superb and served efficiently and quickly
Review 7:The access road to the rear car park is appalling with huge potholes, it really does need sorting out. Our sheets had small holes in them from general wear and tear so I would recommend that they be replaced.
Review 8:Friendly, family atmosphere. Lovely ground floor room. Lovely breakfast, including large full English. If evening meal had been available we would have eaten in.
Review 9:Single beds, no lift and room on 3rd floor, tired looking décor. Staff not very friendly when we arrived. Parking was a nightmare.
Review 10:The cooked breakfast included in the price.
Review 11:Road to the car park is a death trap for my car (nearly took the bumper off and gave me a puncture). Wifi didn't work. Bed resembled a cardboard box. Shower was more of a luke warm drizzle. Corridors STANK of fags and we were greeted outside the hotel on checkout by a delightful looking couple smoking a joint outside the door.
Review 12:Warm towels on the radiator. Custard creams and mini fridge in the room (not that we used them but it was a nice touch).
Review 13:It was disappointing that the central heating in the room wasn't fantastic. We were extremely cold and even with the radiators on, couldn't feel any heat.
Review 14:The staff were extremely friendly and ensured all questions were answered!
Review 15:Bed was horrible, room was small with too much furniture in it. Whole place looked like it needed refurbishing . Didn't stay for breakfast
Review 16:Pretty clean
Review 17:One of us was too ill for breakfast and it would have been nice to have been able to take a slice of toast or something to the room.
Review 18:Pleasant stay with parking, basic amenities but everything u need for a stay and breakfast included
Review 19:The room didn't look very clean and the mattress cover was stained. The main door bell started ringing as customers were coming in from time to time and the sound of it was quite annoying. Luckily it stopped before 9 pm.
Review 20:The room was quiet, spacious and well equipped. It also had access to a patio for smokers.I would say we paid a fair price for what we got.
Review 21:Complete mix of communication left me locked out of the car park and having to walk through a dark uneven passage to the front of the building.when I mentioned it the next day, the mum was understanding and apologetic , but her son was extremely rude and condescending. Until he leaves I will never return.
Review 22:The breakfast was fantastic
Review 23:The decor is out-dated and my room wasn't the best. Mattress was quite uncomfortable and receptionist was quite slow when she was working!
Review 24:Not a lot! It wasn't the type of hotel a 'young couple' would go to. However, very close to train station, bus station & town.
Review 25:we like the service the rooms are very comfortable easy access especially in the modern half of the hotel, it is clean and the Breakfast is very substantial and sets you up for the day and the family that own it are one of the most polite and helpful familys i have ever met and very hardworking nothing is two much trouble will stay here every time we are down this way excellent !!
Review 26:The heating was on full for long periods of time and there was no manual dial to turn it down or off. This caused sleepless nights and sometimes light headed. The wifi connection was very weak from the top floor. Not very often would i be able to connect or if it did, the strength was very poor and kept disconnecting.
Review 27:I originally booked a single bedroom but got a double bedroom on arrival. So i felt very honoured. The room was very spacious and i had my own bathroom. The owner who i do not know her name was very pleasant and looked after me well. The kitchen lady was also quite nice and friendly.
Review 28:Car park entrance and drive-up - be prepared to clean the car afterwards. Plus no chance of getting a space if after 7:30, but single yellow outside as long as you move by 8 in the morning.
Review 29:Quirky, with a very nice older lady who seems to do everything. Good value for a late booking.
Review 30:Dirty room, lovely white bedding covered by very dirty quilt stained. Towels covered in make up. No telephone working had to ring off mobile to contact reception.. Wouldn't let us in till paid in cash. Wouldn't deal with my partner to open gate in the dark as it wasn't me. Shower trickled, toilet wouldn't flush tissue away. When reported was asked if tap worked yes well you have some water.
Review 31:Decent brrakfast
Review 32:The car parking so convenient the lady owner very friendly caring and warm. Breakfast excellent cooked fresh this is a great place to stay will definitely use again if in Norhampton.
Review 33:getting to the car park round the back was horrendous.i have never driven over as many pot holes in my life.
Review 34:the location was ok . the staff very good. breakfast good .
Review 35:Car Park means park on double yellows so I did ask for diections but told had to park and physically go in. I check the booking while there for the next stay but arrived to find they lost the booking so rented the room and as they never rang I was left with no where to stay on a winters night.
Review 36:Fantastic with smiling staff.
Review 37:Potholes in communal service road to car park
Review 38:Warm, clean & comfortable. Excellent inclusive breakfast. Bar prices on par with local pubs. 10 minute walk to town centre.
Review 39:Too hot. Radiator could not be turned off and shower too hot (not adjustable). Nobody to speak to about this in the morning
Review 40:The room had everything, double bed though i paid for a single, ensuite, fridge, kettle, hairdryer, tv. Good choice of breakfast. Good central location.
Review 41:Having to get cash to pay for board as card machine not working. Very very hot first night, but thermostat was altered. Parking not easy and parking bays could not cope with numbers of cars needing to get out at different times morning and evening.
Review 42:Local to work base.
Review 43:* Lack of vegetarian options for breakfast * Greasy breakfast
Review 44:* Close to the racecourse and town centre. * Shower was good. * The hotel is fine, one of those typical run-downish English B&Bs that you can find in every town.
Review 45:Only minor thing is the room was a little cold.
Review 46:Staff are lovely, very friendly. Room was a really good size, plenty if storage space, comfy bed, clean bedding, couldn't ask for much more, great value, breakfast cooked fresh, cooked exactly how we asked, fresh juice and coffee/tea, felt very welcome, homely feel.. would defo stay again
Review 47:Could not get the bedside lights to work but as we were only there one night was not really an issue
Review 48:Rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. Good full English breakfast freshly cooked.
Review 49:Had 5 or 6 pumps in the bar but only 2 available
Review 50:Friendly staff and the hotel was ideal for what was required. Would stay there again if I'm Northampton.
Review 51:Basic rooms - windows need replacing. Lots of noise from the traffic on the main road outside that went on for many hours through Saturday night.
Review 52:Friendly staff. Great breakfast, all served to the table. Free safe parking at the back of the hotel
Review 53:Road leading to car park awful, riddled with potholes filled with water. Car park organisation a bit ridiculous, six spaces in center which effectively blocks you in once you are parked (I was told that if I wanted to use my car I couldn't - luckily I didn't need to on this occasion). Hotel states that it has a 24 hour reception, however, another guest decided to phone reception at 5am and nobody answered the phone for the entire twenty minutes it rang, which completely ruined my sleep. I saw hide nor hair of a member of staff when I looked outside (my room joined directly on to the reception area).
Review 54:5 minute walk from the venue I was to attend, plenty of local shops and facilities. Room had a mini fridge, which seems to be a rare thing these days. Generally clean and tidy. Friendly staff.
Review 55:Upon arrival front of house appeared to have a problem with myself butnot my wife, after telling us where our room was I enquired about thebar as to which he suggested I go to find a drink locally ???? I neverspoke to this person again.. Also we stayed in November & no heatingworked in the room. Not sure as to why he took dislike to me ... I ampolite to all , not hard to be polite is it ? My wife is a Londoner Imyself am a Scouser , she got the impression he was anti Liverpudlian...If so ..wrong job !!! Must say not a problem with any other staff
Review 56:Breakfast was really good , all food was hot & clearly cooked torequest upon demand .to be perfectly honest ... possibly the bestbreakfast I've had while away
Review 57:Arrived at about 10pm after travelling direct from work for 4.5 hours and got the sense that this was felt very late to turn up at a hotel
Review 58:Room was really comfortable, slept really well
Review 59:room 16 the window seal gone so all the busy street noise and the refrigerator fan which is below the room could be herd all night i only stayed 2 nights so put up with it
Review 60:the place was nice and warm and clean
Review 61:Only a couple of things to comment on and nothing major. After coming back to our room it was like a sauna as the heating was so high, no way to turn the radiator down. Would also have like the bedside lamps to work but the switch for them had been removed.
Review 62:Lovely hotel with lovely room, clean and tidy.
Review 63:The hotel is in a good location, has good parking on the roadside if the hotel car park is full. Rooms are comfortable, some of the bathrooms could do with a little tlc but fine for what we needed. The breakfasts are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble at the Langham. Always go here when I'm in Northampton for a family get together.
Review 64:Shower very poor - too hot by far, and not possible to regulate the temperature. Room temperature not possible to control. Room looking tired.
Review 65:Location near centre of town, free off road parking, freindly staff.
Review 66:Back Alley to hotel CAR PARK needs urgent attention ,massive holes filled and tarmac laid plus better lighting cause its very very DARK!
Review 67:Room spotless, great shower, tea/coffee biscuits nice touch and the room was warm and cosy. BREAKFAST 9 out of 10 excellent!
Review 68:Reception tried to get us to pay again. Tile fell off wall in toilet when in there. Extraction fan didn't work. Room not cleaned when we were there.
Review 69:Room was warm and beds very comfortable. Breakfast large. Little noise at night.
Review 70:A sign showing the way to the car park would have been helpful; we had to go along the road, turn round then come back again to get to the narrow lane that leads to the rear of the property where the car park is located.
Review 71:Ideal location, less than 10 minutes walk into town. Free parking, good breakfast.
Review 72:The rear entry route to the car park was a nightmare with all the potholes, but guessing this isn't the hotel's responsibility. It isn't 'Premier Inn' quality by any stretch of the imagination, but suited our requirements for a one night stay.
Review 73:We struck up an immediate friendship with Mary, the proprietor, she made us feel so welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble. I also liked the proximity of the hotel to the Roadmender which was our choice of venue for the night.
Review 74:I had a telephone call on the way to the hotel to say they could only take cash payments as their card machine was not working. Before I booked in they demanded cash payment.
Review 75:Good breakfast
Review 76:The rooms were good, but parking is a nightmare. Only limited parking space and if you are lucky you will get a space inside. If not you have to park in front of others and can be disturbed at anytime to nice your car. Also whole night was noisy with peoe walking and doors opening and closing. Very disturbed nights
Review 77:Room was ok with big tv.
Review 78:Nothing - hotel was a little dated in style, but that added to character,
Review 79:The Langham hotel ticked all the boxes. It was very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable and the owners were really friendly. The hotel bar was lovely and had some nice original features. It had everything we needed and more. Rooms had hairdryer and an iron, tea and coffee with biscuits and even a little chocolate treat. Hotel even provided shower gel/ shampoo. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked and one of the largest I have ever had ! We used the hotel as a stopover before catching a coach trip to France and the owners let us leave our car in their secure parking area - an absolute bonus. Would certainly recommend
Review 80:they took 45.00 1 week before i was due to stay when it was a free cancellation.i did this because my husband is ill and unfortunately he wasnt well and we couldnt stay at hotel yet they took the money over a week before we was staying there
Review 81:didnt stay
Review 82:Rooms were very tired and in need of refurbishment, unable to adjust shower temperature. Certainly didn't appreciate the wake up at 5 am by other guests who appeared to have no consideration for other stayer's.
Review 83:Asked for an easy access room for wife as she has difficulty walking, this was accomplished with a ground floor room.
Review 84:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, free wifi, free parking (although only space for about 12 cars so best not to leave it too late to arrive). Great value in comparison to the cost of the major chains in Northampton.
Review 85:Reception staff was asleep on arrival (3pm). Had to wake her to check in, she then didn't know which rooms we'd booked. The rooms weren't correct. This was sorted pretty quickly though, but then they took out extra money from bank account without consent after stay due to reasons I did not agree with! Rooms smelt damp, beds weren't great. Decor very old fashioned. Were told we couldn't open our window in the room because it was broken.
Review 86:Location was fine for where we needed to be. Breakfast was good.
Review 87:Nothing too bad - rooms just dated and tired, noisy due to windows not closing and limited parking meant I had to get up earlier than expected to move car.
Review 88:All hotel staff and the breakfast.
Review 89:Have stayed here many times while visiting family. We may be reluctant to stay again due to recent 45% price hike. Limited facilities. Bar rarely open. Car park gates constantly locked so when returning home in the evening, one of us had to be dropped at the front of the hotel to walk all the way through the hotel to the rear of car park to open gates from inside. Not nice on a cold rainy night
Review 90:Friendly family staff. Basic but comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast
Review 91:I arrived late evening and discovered the toilet didn't flush. By then it was too late to report the problem. Also the sound proofing could have been better.
Review 92:Comfortable enough room with good facilities. The cooked breakfast was good but would have been better with more variety.
Review 93:Quite basic, a little dusty and hairs on floor. Breakfast times very limited, particularly on a weekend. Parking around back a little difficult to reach.
Review 94:Close to town centre, free wifi, free parking, good value for money. Friendly staff.
Review 95:&Quot;Receptionist" who also cooked the next mornings breakfast wasso rude. On arrival she said I must pay cash before I could have theroom keys. I booked online and confirmed with a creditcard and thought Ihad prepaid but she said the credit card machine was broken. Said hadforced me and other guests to go to a local atm to get cash.Unfortunately the atm was out of order and this caused more arguments.Strangely though by 6.30 the following morning the machine was back inworking order again! I just think they were trying to avoid cardtransaction fees, but I was very short on time when I tried to check inand that was the last thing I needed right then.
Review 96:Breakfast and free parking
Review 97:Slight hitch being on the top floor as I had a big case, but it's an old building so couldn't really help that. Signpost for the car park could be a bit bigger, or instructions sent ahead of time, as it's tucked round the back.
Review 98:The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was good. Easy walk into town.
Review 99:I ordered full English breakfast, when it arrived there was no fried bread or tomato I didn't notice at first since I was not ready to eat. When I did notice there was no staff there so just went ahead. I mentioned this when the table was cleared by one of the brothers and was told that they were not supplied unless asked for specifically, well surely ordering full English did just that. I have stayed here before and in many other hotels and never experienced this before. I think they just screwed up and concocted this stupid lie to try to cover up instead of just holding up their hand and admitting the error. I don't like petty liars.
Review 100:The bathroom wasn't clean at all, mould on the ceiling and hair in the shower. The room itself was clean though.
Review 101:The staff were really lovely and very helpful, also the complimentary breakfast was delicious.
Review 102:Only downside are the pot holes in the communal service road to the cark park.
Review 103:Very good inclusive full English breakfast that will definitely see you through the day. Only 10 minute walk from town centre and 3 minute walk from large park. Free secure parking. This was our 15th stay since 2011.
Review 104:The service was fantastic. Nice friendly lady greeted us. Lots of Coffee, tea, milks + biscuits in the room and the breakfast was brilliant. lots of choices and served quickly. The Bar opened when we got there. I would recommend this Hotel.
Review 105:Extremely filthy dirty... Half empty beer can left in room from previous occupant... Dirt and hairs on toilet and in shower. Bed mattress collapsed in the middle... Hair and filth in the fridge... Windows falling to pieces and I can't even describe how dirty it was. Car park locked at 9pm so couldn't get car in or out past that time.... I wasn't even prepared to risk eating the free breakfast!
Review 106:The hotel was slightly dated decor wise, very 1980's, there is insufficient parking compared to number of rooms. An odd smell hits you as you first enter. But for the price, you can't complain.
Review 107:We got good service given that we arrived late. The hotel was nice on the outside and clean on the inside. The price was great.
Review 108:Parking was a pain. Narrow back alley and told wouldn't be able to get out early in morning. So parked in the street opposite
Review 109:The breakfast was lovely and plenty of it.
Review 110:When we first arrived we had a lot of luggage, none of the members of the staff offered to help us carry the luggage to our room. The stairs were really narrow and there was no elevator. The second thing I found I didn't like was the bathroom as it was very dirty! And thirdly it was the same breakfast over our six days stay.
Review 111:The bed and the location being close to the centre.
Review 112:The hotel took money out of my account for the whole stay 11 days before the booking with no warning. I called to ask if this was normal practice and to check our booking and was shouted at by an irate and rude member of staff. It was too late to change our booking so we had to go, but I was nervous about staying. The facilities were fine, as expected for the low price, other staff were very pleasant when we were there, but based on this first conversation I would not recommend or return.
Review 113:Facilities fine for the price
Review 114:Staff were welcoming and friendly. Secure parking at rear was a real benefit. Rooms were comfortable but looking a little tired in places. The breakfast was amazing with staff being very attentive. Would have no problem staying here again.
Review 115:My partner was working in the area and had to be out on the road as breakfast started but the man in the dining area made him 2 breakfast baps to take with him. Excellent customer relations!!
Review 116:Nothing that we didn't like. There is an issue with the windows but they are upfront about it and looking to sort it out. Not a problem for us, room was a nice temperature.
Review 117:Very friendly and helpful staff. Had a good room with flat screen TV, iron + board, tea, coffee and biscuits which was a nice touch. Free WiFi, complimentary soaps etc and a comfy fresh bed. Shower good and water nice and hot. Breakfast was great, cereals and a cooked breakfast too with plenty of toast. Could really charge extra for it. All round a proper and decent B and B. A personal service that you just don't get everywhere
Review 118:I've certainly had warmer welcomes. Can't comment on the Wifi, as I gave up on it trying to connect after about an hour (on two different devices)!
Review 119:Good facilities and it was quite good value on the day
Review 120:Very welcoming and efficient staff, obviously geared up for Silverstone MotoGP guests (as we were) to provide a very good breakfast and settle up accounts, to allow an early departure towards the track.
Review 121:Booked two double and one twin room. On arrival got three double rooms, as two of our group were men sharing this was not satisfactory. Was offered an alternative room the following day. Awaiting compensation for inconvenience.
Review 122:Having to leave
Review 123:Lovely clean hotel with wonderful owners who work tirelessly to make your stay perfect. Would recommend to all. Thank you Mary and sons. ROD AND DIANE POWELL
Review 124:Room smelled somewhat like a swimming pool. Can't complain in light of the great price though!
Review 125:Great free breakfast - full English! Wifi worked. Located just a short walk from High Street
Review 126:The bad reviews on the site put me off at first.. when I arrived at the hotel I was surprised as I really enjoyed my stay.
Review 127:The value of the hotel is great... it's a small family run b and b.... breakfast is lovely with a 5 star hygiene rating. For £45 with a free breakfast (eating out would usually be £30) is great value. Clean tidy rooms.
Review 128:Couldn't say I have a fault with the place.
Review 129:Lovely family run business, all staff are welcoming and happy to help. Made to feel right at home and the place is well looked after really enjoyed our stay here, will defiantly be visiting again breakfast was amazing and all the facilities in the hotel were excellent couldn't fault it great value for your money.
Review 130:close to main road traffic noise at night no double glasing or air con no lift , stairs to top floor only
Review 131:good full english breakfast clean rooms closr to town centre 10 min walk
Review 132:I wasn't able to make use of the free Wi Fi , I got connected but the signal was not strong enough to deliver. Tried several time and finally gave up.
Review 133:Comfortable quiet room. Excellent served breakfast.
Review 134:Broken windows, constant traffic noise, constant humming of industrial sounding fan, saggy mattress, for both rooms 17 & 23,signage to car park,
Review 135:Cleanliness of room, shower, breakfast, price, parking
Review 136:Found dirty clothes in draws. Shower not working properly. Gates shut with no warning had to leave my car on a side street. Staff not about after ringing reception bell numerous times. Sent a email to complain and still no replie.
Review 137:Nothing!!
