Reviews for Howarth House
Review 1:Couldn't fault anything at all.
Review 2:Lovely staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast was due to be served at 8:00 but we had to leave by 7:45, the manager got up early and made us a lovely fresh breakfast at 7:30, fantastic. Comfortable room with excellent facilities. Lovely decor with lots of quaint features. Never heard any noise from other rooms or outside. 10/10 stay!!
Review 3:Excellent standards throughout. I've stayed here a few times and all the staff are extremely friendly and really accommodating. I would fully recommend Howarth House to anyone
Review 4:Lovely accommodation, very welcoming. Excellent family room, and immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious and you had a great choice to choose from. Would stay again without question!
Review 5:Found the room to be a bit chilly and did not want to use the portable heater that was in the wardrobe.
Review 6:Location was optimal and it was very small but very clean. Breakfast was fine.
Review 7:The only negative was that I couldn't get an Internet connection but the weather was horrendous during our stay so that may have affected the connection.
Review 8:Staff very friendly and helpful. Very warm welcome. Loved the room decoration and patio area. Stayed in Room 1. Lovely Breakfast. Location great for shops, restaurants etc. Will definitely return to this hotel.
Review 9:We travelled as a family the location is perfect close to relatives. The hotel is very clean and decorated beautifully plus the added addition of Christmas decorations. The breakfast was excellent and a variety of options to choose from. I would definitely stay again ?
Review 10:The first impression of worn and peeling paint in the hall and stairway was not good; the Victoriana theme manifested itself in cluttered and shabby public rooms.
Review 11:Staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was good.
Review 12:I liked the flow of collectables and books positioned around the hotel. It all added to the very welcoming and homely ambience. There was something of interest around every corner. Staff were very attentive and everything was clean. I couldn't have asked for better.
Review 13:The only things were street noise which is unavoidable and the bed was a little creaky
Review 14:The woman behind the desk (I believe she was the landlady) was so accomadating. She called the kitchen staff in early as I had to leave before breakfast started. When I asked for an iron she ironed my shirts for me! Due to traffic I was 4 hours late for my estimated check in and she was happy to wait for me
Review 15:I absolutely hated the fact that when I returned to the hotel on Saturday evening there were no parking spaces available. I was directed to park across the road in another business premises. I was assured there'd be no problem but I was not comfortable at all with the situation and was concerned that I might incur a charge or even worse be clamped. I wasn't but I was and still am very annoyed that the hotel is advertised as providing free parking. It didn't .... so it should read "limited parking available". If I had known that parking was going to be a problem I would not have booked the hotel. So unlike the terminator, "I won't be back!!".
Review 16:The staff were very friendly and the rooms were more than comfortable.
Review 17:Friendly staff, very clean, beautiful decor, tasty breakfast. Staff so helpful telling us bus times etc! Great location quiet, only bus ride into Blackpool!
Review 18:Not really fair to comment on the main hotel as we were giving one of the rooms to the rear of the hotel which was terribly small, on complaining the following morning we were put in the other room next door which was slightly bigger with bath which was OK.The two rooms that we can comment on were nicely furnish unfortunately but with all the added cushions on the bed come night time there was no place to put them, the both bathrooms lacked any shelf space, going to the main building for breakfast or going out anywhere you had to squeeze past what we believed to be the owners cars as stated our breakfast on day one was quite nice but the second and third mornings was very poor on complaining about our rooms we decided just to let the breakfast go,We booked the hotel on its ratings so the main hotel must be something else, our advice would be to avoid the rooms to the rear of the hotel at all cost. Quite disappointing sorry.
Review 19:nice welcome on arrival, nice well cooked breakfast first morning.
Review 20:A lovely hotel in Lytham St Anne. Very comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. The attention to detail was great. The hotel was great for our two small children as well, with a box of toys in the living room and a beautifully decorated bedroom with bunkbeds.
Review 21:Could use grab-handles in shower etc! Shower hat- to compliment shower already supplied soap/gel! Cushions on dining- room chairs, maybe?
Review 22:Excellent stay in all aspects, hotel & staff alike! Loved the friendly dogs as well. Used the lounge too, which is welcome when travelling with friends etc. Thanks to the whole team.
Review 23:would have been 10/10 but had to knock a point off for very small bathroom and shower hard to control but this would not put me of staying again
Review 24:Very enjoyable stay, the staff are very attentive, you feel you are given that extra personal touch, very good breakfast.
Review 25:Family room was really lovely decorated with comfy beds and a separate room for the kids with door from the main. Kids room had games in too, a lovely touch. The waitress in the dining room was really chatty and friendly, an asset to the guest house. Would definitely book a stay here again.
Review 26:There's nothing to dislike, unfortunately we didn't get to experience breakfast as we slept in after a night out so unable to comment on that
Review 27:Absolutely loved our stay at Howarth House. Made to feel very welcome from the start. Shown to our room which was beautiful. Very cosy and clean.
Review 28:Bathroom was a little disappointing after the plushness of the bedroom. It was very small & not terribly luxurious.
Review 29:Very nicely decorated/furnished & comfortable rooms. Very friendly owner & staff. A very decadent yet homely feel.
Review 30:nothing.
Review 31:the staff was so friendly , you were made to feel at home from the start, the place itself was very clean, very comfortable, the food was top class and you got free WI FI, on top of that you got the use of the leisure complex for free aswell which was just across the road, so you could go for a dip in the pool and have a relax in the steam room & jacuzzi. the hotel as Bars, Pubs and plenty of places to eat just down the road, so value for money it most certainly is., would i go again, to right i would and plan to go back in the not to distant future. 10 out of 10 for me.
Review 32:Shower/bathroom was a bit on the small size. We didn't have a brilliant view, we were at the back of the house/hotel.
Review 33:Overall, the staff where very pleasant, lovely and friendly. it was beautifully furnished & a well kept house/hotel. I would definitely book & stay again.
Review 34:The room was too small for us and didn't have a dressing table. We were concerned about the height of the chest of drawers where the tea making facilities were situated. It was too high. The fire escape seemed to be in the public" toilette" There were no instructions for us in our room about this.Car parking is very difficult.
Review 35:The breakfasts were lovely and were served by very pleasant staff.
Review 36:The hot water was not hot but warm and the bedstead was very creaky and noisy.
Review 37:The staff were very accomodating. The room was beautiful. We had a ground floor bedroom with its own private patio with table and chairs. It made it your own little place.
Review 38:room nicely decorated in Laura Ashley but too many cushions on the bed hence you had to pile them up either on the floor (making it impossible to walk around or on the chair and too many ornaments which limited where you could put your personal items. Also the kettle etc was next to the TV on a high chest of drawers making it difficult to see the top of your cup, not to mention the health & safety aspect.
Review 39:location.
Review 40:This hotel was outstanding in all aspects, it has a great location not only for the beach but for all bars and restaurants. They where all literally 2 min walk from hotel. Will be staying again soon and will be recommending it to all friends and family.
Review 41:Wonderful stay in a very friendly well run place. Little touches arranged (plant waiting for Mum) and nothing was too much trouble. Mum & Dad really enjoyed their stay. Thank you.
Review 42:The rooms decor was lovely very stylish. The bedding was top quality and beds were very comfy. We liked the fact that breakfast was totally waitress service. Staff very friendly and efficient
Review 43:Car park difficult to get in and out, bathroom on the small side, our balcony only faced the rear of another Hotel, there is no lift.
Review 44:Clean and pleasant, very nice staff, good hot breakfast, comfortable.
Review 45:Shower was very basic-and water pressure an issue. Room walls were paper thin- I listened (because I had no choice!) to the lady next door have a long conversation when I would have preferred to be going to sleep!
Review 46:Excellent welcome and very friendly and attentive staff. Interesting decor, room compact but clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very nice.
Review 47:On a busy road which made the room noisy from 6am as I had the window open due to the room being quite small. A quiet fan in the room would have made it perfect
Review 48:Ambiance was lovely, dog friendly and cracking breakfast
Review 49:Sinle rooms were a little cramped in size but the large lounge area.with its very comfortable furniture made up for that.
Review 50:The cleanliness and the warm welcome. The attentiveness to people's specific needs and the willingness to meet them if at all possible.
Review 51:Wifi didn't work. No staff to answer questions at reception throughout the day. Dirty kettle in room. If given room with 'balcony' & 'patio', reign in any expectations you might have
Review 52:Free off-street parking. Nice lounge area. Comfortable bed. 12pm check-out.
Review 53:Atmosphere was good for a single business traveler wanting a quite place. Not much for social interactions.
Review 54:Location was close to Golfcourse and dining establishments. The breakfast was good and served quickly.
Review 55:The bed being 6'2" was a little on the short size and it had a foot board which made it slightly uncomfortable.
Review 56:The hotel was very well situated in the town. The breakfast was good.
Review 57:Room 6 very small & quite clostraphobic Bathroom even smaller with no window This room not worth £95 Should be priced more fair
Review 58:The staff are very welcoming Breakfast is lovely, just would have been better if staff asked if more tea & toast required. Location is good
Review 59:No working extractor fan in bathroom. Bit of a leaky shower but it didn't spoil our stay.
Review 60:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy! The breakfast was excellent.
Review 61:Had a great stay with 7 year old granddaughter. She enjoyed the cooked breakfast and the comfortable bed. Sue was very kind when we arrived dripping wet, having been caught in a downpour on our way from the station. She arranged sandwiches in the room and a nice cold beer for Nana!!! Additional heating to dry out our coats was also provided without having to be requested. Very nice personal service. Would definitely stay again.
Review 62:No negative comments
Review 63:Staff welcoming, very helpful.bedrooms beautifully decorated bed very comfortable tea/coffee available in room Overall a very enjoyable stay would go back again
Review 64:Room advertised as Deluxe Double but not really big enough as only one chair provided and only room for one suitcase it was fortunate for us that we only brought one case and not two
Review 65:Spotlessly clean hotel very comfortable excellent breakfast
Review 66:Ensuite's were very small in the single rooms and in general. It was a bit like taking a yoga lesson every time you wanted to wipe your backside. Wi-Fi unreliable
Review 67:Breakfast was great, rooms were very clean and little extras come in handy , water , toiletries
Review 68:Staff where all very friendly and gave the impression that they where proud to work there, customer service was vey good and polite. We all felt very relaxed from the moment we went to the room, which was really good.
Review 69:We found the bed a bit to firm for our liking.
Review 70:We liked having the adjoining room for the children. We also liked the beach. It was a lovely walk after a long drive.
Review 71:The car park is too small for a decent size car, rom 9 a twin was small as was the en suite shower facility.
Review 72:The Landlady was very friend and the hosting with no issues. The breakfast room and meal were delightful.
Review 73:Bed creaked loudly with every movement. Dripping tap in the bathroom and parking was a little awkward.
Review 74:The staff were wonderful. The food was excellent. It was wonderful to have a patio with smoking possibilities.
Review 75:Nothing.
Review 76:Great location for walks to the beach and promenade. Clean, well decorated rooms with en-suite. Great breakfast included. Happy , friendly people and nothing too much trouble.
Review 77:Shower was very difficult to control but I mentioned that in the morning and they said they would look into it
Review 78:The personal touch and how friendly and chatty everyone was
Review 79:The vegetarian breakfast was re heated/not freshly cooked. Egg not freshly cooked and hard. Tomatoes hard. Mushrooms I could not cut and were "rubbery". Beans, you cant go wrong with them. Very disappointed. I did not complain because I'm English.
Review 80:The art work and curios up the stairs. The helpful staff. The general ambience of the hotel.
Review 81:Shower room was a little tiny
Review 82:Frendly, perfect position for beach, bars, restaurants and local shops ..... The room was charming shabby chic style ... Bed very comfortable ... Thoroughly enjoyed our stay we will be back defiantly again
Review 83:Small car park but on road parking is possible, but not sure of any restrictions. The room we had was at the side of the hotel so views only over backs of other hotels, but not a problem. Nothing major.
Review 84:Friendly greeting on arrival, comfortable room and bed. Spotless room and bathroom, heating was good. Very good English breakfast.
Review 85:Received a very warm welcome from the proprietor. All the staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable accommodation. I would definitely stay in Howarth House again.
Review 86:small shower & bathroom no room at bottom of bed to enter bathroom dressing room wouldn't bother again really small? over powering décor.
Review 87:room was in quiet location, breakfast was very good although not offered any more toast or tea/coffee. Bed was very comfortable but l kept banging my ankles on bottom of wooden bed.
Review 88:There is nothing we didn't like about our stay and we will most definitely be going back.
Review 89:Lovely host and staff, clean, warm and comfortable room. Best breakfast was superb.
Review 90:Although our room was comfortable, a few minor adjustments would have made it a bit more user friendly: No mirror near the plug sockets, which made it difficult to dry my hair (I asked for a mirror and they were able to supply me with a small one but had to kneel by the bedside cabinet). Also the chest of drawers that had the tea making facilities on was very tall and for a shortie like me, it was a bit of a safety issue, handling a kettle of boiling water at head height.
Review 91:The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Greeted by a lovely lady, nothing too much trouble. Same again at breakfast-served by a different member of staff who was equally friendly. The breakfast itself was very nice. The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and dressed, very comfortable.
Review 92:The car park is very small only enough room for around six cars, but we managed to park there so was not a problem for us..
Review 93:The Hotel was very clean and comfortable, The room was large warm and really clean, The breakfast and the staff were lovely, enjoyed our stay, we would stay again..
Review 94:I will not stay anywhere else as the place relaxes me as soon as I walk through the door. I visit Lytham a lot and this place is close to everything, including the lovely beach. The staff are friendly and this is the ideal place for real peace and quiet. No noisy bar like many hotels.
Review 95:The bathroom was so tiny! Would have liked a bath, so must specify beforehand.Bath towels a bit on the small side. The heating didn't come on in the morning, so was a bit chilly.
Review 96:The decor was homely, warm and comfortable with lots of lovely artifax-and spotless! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful ('though a bit more smoked salmon wouldn't have gone amiss!) Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 97:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decore, atmosphere, room and breakfast was very stylish, clean, comfortable and Tasty (breakfast). All local venues, ammenities and the coast were all around the corner. Lovely place and great value which I highly reccomend.
Review 98:Comfortable and quiet. The rooms are small but cozy and cheerful decor. The breakfast was excellent, the best I've had in a b&b in the UK. Highly recommend this hotel!
Review 99:The guests in adjacent rooms who didn't know how to behave. Our last night saw us awakened by slamming doors and people speaking at the top of their voices - we heard every word and got very little sleep! Hey ho, that's folk for you.
Review 100:Loved meeting with our host and staff - all excellent and very helpful. Standard of décor very good, if a little more sumptuous than we are used to. Lounge was lovely and daily papers a plus. Situation was perfect for us and we left very well fed.
Review 101:We thought that tables had been reserved for guests at breakfast and we had 2 separate tables. We brought them together which caused a bit of disruption in the dining room. Waiting staff were mainly OK with that but it would have been helpful if they had explained that there was an option to wait for a table of 4.
Review 102:Decorated nicely throughout in a tasteful vintage style. The bed was super-comfy and the room was at a comfortable temperature. The breakfast was good quality. The owner of the B&B is very helpful and very friendly. She gave us a place to store our bikes securely overnight and helped when we were struggling to park up.
Review 103:Having to return home.
Review 104:I took my wife to st Anne's to spend her birthday. I booked Howarth House on line and definitely made the right choice. The atmosphere, the welcome, the staff made it a very special 2 days. Once the owner and staff realised it was my wife's birthday, she received some lovely flowers and a card. A lovely gesture which meant a lot. Thank You !!!!
Review 105:Not too keen on the parking facilities - tight squeeze.
Review 106:Everything. The food, the feeling on entering and seeing the place lit up for Christmas, it was magical!! Even Harry the dog bid us welcome. I wanted to take him home.
Review 107:you could here music coming from the next hotel ,late at night , it did stop at midnight , but if you are a early to bed and early rise person ?, nothing this hotel could do about it , would not stop my return to the same room
Review 108:cannot find any with faults with the hotel , nothing was too much trouble , all staff brilliant , will visit again early next year
Review 109:We were placed out in what appeared to be the 'out house'! The bed was two single mattresses pushed together in a double frame and the decor of the entire place was dated and a bit tatty, certainly not my idea of a four star boutique hotel.
Review 110:Lovely staff and great location for restaurants and bars.
Review 111:nothing
Review 112:i liked every thing about the hotel . the staff was very helpful . they arranged a birthday cake and flowers for my girlfriend 40th birthday . as i could not get there to plan her birthday surprise . the hotel arranged it all and got her a card and chocolates as well and decorated the room as well , a big thank you
Review 113:Thought room 6 was very small and slightly claustrophobic. On arrival we were greeted by and shown our room by the cleaning lady who was very nice but .....
Review 114:Location was perfect and good bus information given to us on arrival. Hotel was very clean and stylish. Lovely breakfast.
Review 115:Room was small as children tended to congregate in double room and made it a bit of a squeeze. I felt that the tariff was quite high compared to hotels in the area some of which had sea views. Double bed was very hard and I did over hear other residents complaining about this however staff did try to accommodate and put a duvet under the bottom sheet for them.
Review 116:The facilities were clean and well kept. Ideal location for our needs. House was quiet at night. Friendly staff.
Review 117:Although it was a bonus to have a small hotel with on-site parking - it was a very limited car park & not a lot of room for manoeuvre if bringing a large vehicle.
Review 118:It was ideal for a short break with good transport connections to Blackpool. Having its own car parking facilities was a bonus. Good location for local shops, restaurants & sea front & pier.
Review 119:Tiny bathroom without any shelving.
Review 120:A very beautiful b and b in a lovely location. Our room was a sunny front room on the third floor with a small bathroom. Lovely property with bars, restaurants etc on the doorstep. Nice breakfast too.
Review 121:* Warm welcome. * Very nice room. * Very clean. * Excellent breakfast and the fact that the hotel was happy to respond to the requests of a couple of vegetarians . * Enjoyed the whole experience.
Review 122:Nothing
Review 123:The rooms are lovely , very clean and well furnished , with many little extra touches .The breakfast is the best we have ever had and of a superb standard. The communal areas are kept to a very high standard .The staff are lovely so friendly and helpful . It deserves 10/10 and we shall certainly return
Review 124:Great accommodation. High ceilings.big bed.great breakfast all served to you.Big lounge with papers, mags, big comfy chairs.great family room with toys, books and teddies!
Review 125:An overabundance of cushions which cluttered up the room when going to bed ! Some of them looked a bit grubby probably because they all had to be stacked on the floor at night. Shower room clean but towels smelled unpleasant.
Review 126:Friendly staff. Quirky decor.
Review 127:Car parking could be an issue if the hotel was full but the problem was not restricted to this accommodation alone.
Review 128:The offer of help with our luggage on arrival and departure. Our room had the luxury of an outside sitting area. Daily newspapers were available plus lots of magazines. The excellent breakfast included mixed fresh fruit.
Review 129:Nothing,could not fault
Review 130:Gorgeous hotel and room was lovely. Extremely clean and decorated beautifully. Great location, much nicer than staying in Blackpool centre and only a short drive away.
Review 131:Couldn't really fault anything. Ran a bath did not need to add cold water as it wasn't that hot, but shower hot next day so maybe I hadn't fully turned tap on properly. Parking little tight but adequate.
Review 132:Location - round the corner from shops and restaurants but quiet despite being on main road. Very friendly professional proprietors/staff. Rare facilities for smokers - rooms avail with patio or balcony so that my partner did not have to keep going down to front of house for a smoke. Immaculate rooms/nice decor. Comfy large bed. Good breakfast and choose what you like served till 10am. Nice tv lounge to sit in. 5 minute walk to beach. You can control heating in bedroom/bathroom. Info file in room on local facilities. Wifi link worked once we selected correct one for our room - there are 3 to choose from so ask which one to use. Even though we only live 30 mins away and I have visited this area many times it was nice to have a night out and not have to drive home, we were so chilled out we stayed another night.
