Reviews for Delphi Adventure Resort Hotel & Spa
Review 1:THE BAR DIDN'T STOCK CRISPS/NUTS. WE COULDN'T GET OUR COMPLIMENTARY HOUR IN THE SPA AS A GUEST BECAUSE WE WERE TOLD IT WAS TOO BUSY...YOU REALLY NEED TO BOOK YOURSELF IN TO USE THE FACILITIES. IT WAS WINDY AND RAINY WHEN WE VISITED...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE FIRE IN THE LOBBY WAS LIT,WE WOULD HAVE GOT A FEW DRINKS AND SAT THERE FOR THE NIGHT IF IT HAD OF BEEN. LIMITED PHONE RECEPTION. NOTHING TO DO IF WEATHER IS BAD..NO TV IN ROOMS
Review 2:CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE
Review 3:I loved the location tucked away in the mountains, beside the stream and lake. The furnishing were warm, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We stayed in November and it was well heated.Excellent coffee shop and gift shop. The food was outstanding and the waiting staff were so friendly and genuine. I loved how relaxed the atmosphere was. Looking forward to returning. Loved it.
Review 4:Welcomed by lovely staff, Jennifer and John always had a smile and are a credit to the resort. Great food and service, looking forward to returning in the summer
Review 5:The lack of wireless / mobile coverage could be an issue for some.
Review 6:The location is amazing. The food is fantastic and we love the restful atmosphere.
Review 7:long journey to get there. left headphones in spa and didnt get them back. some people were noisy in the spa, maybe signs asking people to remember people are there to relax would help!
Review 8:such friendly staff, nothing was a problem. stunning surroundings. tasting menu was v interesting
Review 9:Located in the middle of nowhere (good for relaxing, but not good for discovering the main attractions of Connemara Nationalpark); quite expensive restaurants
Review 10:Nice hotel facilities, good breakfast
Review 11:I found the temperature in the hotel to be quite cold, the rooms were ok but spa was very chilly as was the Chef Table restaurant in particular. The breakfast was average - a much lower standard than previous visits.
Review 12:The location is superb, very tranquil setting and I like that Delphi play to this and have a no TV policy in the rooms. The staff are very pleasant
Review 13:Only problem we found was no phone signal or wifi in hotel for our two day stay....although I like to unplug from technology, I was worried about lack of phone signal in case my daughters needed to contact me while away.
Review 14:Beautiful hotel, we stayed in room 15A & it was top class, room & bathroom spotless. V comfortable. The staff in restaurant & reception were v pleasant & helpful with any queries we had about the area. Food was lovely in the restaurant upstairs both nights. Couldn't fault the place & would definitely return. The hotel is in a stunning location surrounded by mountains.
Review 15:Loved everything about delphi. The restaurant was really lovely. The staff were very helpful. Alex the barman was helpful and friendly! We'll be back :-) Helen the
Review 16:There are a few basic things that could really help. Meals were very expensive and not really orientated to families. Need to have pizza, pasta and burger options. Cost of hotel generally was high. Rooms were very nice but lacked some obvious facilities, such as a mirror, dressing table and decent wi-fi.
Review 17:Amazing location. Helpful and friendly staff. Great instructors. Nice bar. Views to die for
Review 18:The rate I got was not cheap, so to have to pay extra for the sauna and hot tub, once you use your free 1 hour, I think is not really acceptable. Also the evening food options for children confusing,
Review 19:The staff were very helpful.
Review 20:A lot of activities were not available as they were all booked up. Food in the restaurants and drinks in the bar were expensive. No entertainment in the evening for older children, no t.v in room & wifi not working. 2 of the towels in the bathroom were dirty. Room & bathroom was cold in the evening. We expected more from a 4 star hotel.
Review 21:Scenery & walks Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 22:The beds were poor in room no 1 and it very noises as it's situated at the Start of the corridor. No wifi at all for the full stay
Review 23:The staff are great, and the activities are second to none
Review 24:We stayed in a family room which was clean and spacious but one side of the bed was broken and although it was fixed the second night we had a terrible sleep the 1st night - staff should have seen this when they were dressing the bed. Also a TV would have been nice in the room to entertain young children (and adults once the kids go to sleep)
Review 25:Lovely location Spa was very nice Friendly staff
Review 26:There were a lot of children.
Review 27:The loft room was perfect for my stay! The restaurants were all fantastic as was the property. The spa was the best part of my stay by far though!
Review 28:24 hours is too long to wait for towels in the bedroom and dinner was overpriced and meagre e.g. 3 prawns in one starter accompanied by a few meagre salad leaves and one scallop the following night with same accompaniement.
Review 29:Location and staff were excellent
Review 30:WiFi almost non existent . Mobile phone coverage poor due to hotels location.
Review 31:Chefs Table restaurant superb . Spar excellent. Staff curtious and helpful.
Review 32:Directions to the venue and information on distance from the village were not clear.
Review 33:The 3 course set dinner was DELICIOUS and so was breakfast. The Spa was great and the staff were all lovely.
Review 34:Inconsistent levels of staff friendliness and efficiency,a number we're excellent a few others were very poor, paid extra for deluxe room which appeared to be the same standard as ordinary double, restaurant - limited to one choice as other closed on Monday's.
Review 35:Beautiful location, relaxed vibe, food of good standard.
Review 36:The activities book up quickly. It would be good to book before you went if you're only there for a brief time. There is no pool.
Review 37:The setting is extraordinary. They have many activities for young and old. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 38:Ground surfaces are not suitable for people with disabilities, and the complex has insufficient disabled parking spaces.
Review 39:An Idyllic setting with no Wi-Fi, makes for good relaxed conversations and laughter, as there are annoying mobile ring tones. And children interacting with each other whilst playing board games and drawing. We will be back.
Review 40:There was nothing atal for children under three not a park not even an area to kick a ball..we spent whole time in the roon with a two year old it was horrible
Review 41:The room was lovely and comfortable
Review 42:Unfortunately it will rain at times, but thats as good a time to go kayaking or do the bog challenge!
Review 43:A brilliant combination of luxury hotel and outdoor pursuits centre surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our 2 teenage boys were never bored. Activity Instructors were excellent, super patient as well!
Review 44:Free Spa limited to one hour per stay??? Main Reception staff need training.
Review 45:Building amatzing. Yoga excellent. The bar, restaurant and Spa staff are professional and friendly.
Review 46:Missed a massage appointment due to other people turning up late however to her credit manager gave us free appointment on second day.
Review 47:Location, adventure centre, restaurant was excellent, spa, very quiet
Review 48:WiFi could be temperamental and as there aren't any TVs in the room, this was our only form of entertainment at night after a long day of activities.
Review 49:We thought this was a lovely setting, great staff, great food, lovely room!
Review 50:The location is worth the drive and the new restaurant 'Chef;s Table' is exceptional. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after our wedding. We did no adventure sports whatsoever and that was great!
Review 51:The only thing I could complain about is the price of the food for the quantity very tasty tho
Review 52:Friendly helpfull staff, first class rooms and probably the nicest county in Ireland
Review 53:Stayed 2 nights and breakfast on the first day wasn't great. Service was poor e.g. No milk given with coffee, no buffet out even though that's what was advertised, poached eggs had no white left. however improved on the second day. Maybe because it was busier on the second therefore the staff were more efficient . Not a deal breaker though
Review 54:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the serene peaceful surroundings. Great for a relaxing escape
Review 55:No proper glass for craft beer chipped mug at breakfast otherwise staff were lovely food at breakfast excellant
Review 56:Seaweedbath back massage spa so pleasant
Review 57:Parking was dreadful.. We got blocked twice .. food portions were very poor in relation to price and the fact that people were doing vigerious exercise. Could do with tv at night ..
Review 58:This is once in a lifetime kinda thing so it was worth the expense but too expensive to return regularly! It was the end of our honeymoon so was a fab treat!
Review 59:The beautiful scenic route to the resort is spectacular & the staff were so friendly & welcoming. The spa was pure heaven & our room was fab v comfy bed, lovely patio overlooking the mountains, food was delicious also!
Review 60:We stayed the first week of the Easter holidays, slightly off season it would seem, therefore the kids club didn't run as promised due to not enough children booked in. Outdoor activities were limited, and the hotel was cold, ate my fantastic food with my coat and several other layers still on. Will try again in full season, because the location is amazing and in better weather and in full swing I imagine it's a whole other experience.
Review 61:Food was absolutely amazing, everything from the vegetarian breakfast to the beef burger was exceptional and beyond.
Review 62:The buffet breakfast was sitting out and didn't taste nice at all. Maybe freshly order to the person is best as it also saves on wastage.
Review 63:Location, Staff very accommodating and friendly. Felt relaxed from arrival.
Review 64:We booked in specifically because wifi was advertised but we could not get a connection or use or phones which was a major issue as we had business we had to deal with. Also the restaurant was over priced and the food was not good, particularly the quality of the chips, dessert and the very small portions.
Review 65:The bed and bedroom were lovely and the location was perfect. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 66:- Wifi connection was poor to connect. Double Bed was made up of two singles mattresses. Not great for a couple. - some staff well not well trained in the bar and restaurant area. Asked for a dearest spoon and gave me a teaspoon. Third attempt they got it.
Review 67:- Staff was really nice
Review 68:Our night in the restaurant felt a bit Faulty Towers. Staff were polite and courteous but we felt they were a little overwhelmed and confused through the whole night. Food was tasty but expensive so we'd really expect the service to be top class to reflect this.
Review 69:Liked the room, it was comfy. The food was tasty. The location and setting were beautiful
Review 70:Very little that we didnt like, but the Sauna, Steam and SPA area in general were not that warm, so we didnt spend as long there as we had planned to. Only other thing would be the mussels served as my starter, unfortunatly they were so fresh most of them had left their shells before they got to my plate!! The Hotel courteously removed this from our bill (the few l got were really good)
Review 71:Great accomodation, and super location. The Staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Loft suite was very cool and thankyou to the Hotel for the free upgrade! My wife had a great massage at the SPA, and would recommend to others. The area around the Hotel is beautiful and has to be seen. Would of liked to participate in some of the outdoor activities during our stay but the weather was terrible, so we sat in front of the turf fire in the library and caught up on some reading.
Review 72:Can't fault the place ... it really is a place to get away ...
Review 73:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful from reception to spa to restaurant ... The beautiful location took us away from the hussle of the world ... The fact that there were no tv's anywhere made it more relaxing .. If you can't go to a place with your partner without having a tv you might have a relationship issue ...lol
Review 74:Disorganised staff. Average food with frustratingly slow service. Long wait for spa treatment. Poor signage to hotel (and no phone coverage to assist!). Over priced for facilities, service and quality
Review 75:Comfortable bed, peace and quiet. Fantastic views and complete isolation
Review 76:The location is so picturesque. Loved the fact there is no tv in the room. The whole place is a real retreat, an escape from everywhere and everything, pure bliss :-)
Review 77:Absolutely nothing.
Review 78:The friendliest welcome I've ever recieved, the staff were lovely. Couldn't speak highly enough of them. They spoiled the girls with their kind attention. The location is stunning. The two bedroom suite was really an apartment, so spacious. I loved it here.
Review 79:Not having wifi, facilities could be expanded
Review 80:Delphi Resort has great potential, it needs some guidance and direction to make the most of its amazing location and underused facilities. Gemma in reception and John upstairs in restaurant were very helpful
Review 81:Very little signage until you reach Leenane, so Sat Nav is a must.
Review 82:Excellent place - very relaxing and isolated. Staff were very helpful and the rooms are very clean. The beds are soo comfy so had really good sleeps. I got a facial and head2feet message, both very enjoyable. Would definitely go back. The rooms do have wifi, previously they hadn't, so was happy with that. The scenery around is gorgeous, but do plenty of driving around. The road to Westport was lovely.
Review 83:Such a lovely place, staff were excellent, genuinely interested and friendly. Room was perfect, bed comfy and views to die for. Look out for Gemma at reception, Colm in the restaurant, Sean at the bar and Maureen with her great alternative menu. We didn't get the chef's name but boy can he cook!
Review 84:There was nothing not to like...
Review 85:The choice of having a relaxing break or having an adrenaline filled activity break. Excellent food, friendly and helpfull staff.
Review 86:Breakfast was poor The flowers in the patio area were poorly cared for. The bedrooms were bland as was the sitting room suite area, they lacked life and colour.
Review 87:Friendly staff scenic area
Review 88:Menu is not at all broad (no pasta no pizza) the kind of energy and comfort food you would associate with a young energetic venue I know it's late in season but some staff seem very disinterested and all seemed to be there a very short time
Review 89:Beautiful place fabulous scenery very relaxing
Review 90:nothing to dislike except that we had to leave.
Review 91:Wow - staff are soo nice! Everyone is relaxed and natural - no formality but everything is done for you. Honeymoon couple so we loved the spa - esp the shared seaweed bath and the gorgeous jacuzzi in the thermal suite after. Food is excellent - menu is interesting and uses local ingredients. No tv or mobile coverage but ipod dock and tv/dvd combo is available on request. They even charged an ipod for us. If you want to get away and actually not feel deprived of your luxuries then Delphi is for you. Westport is a short drive away but the smaller towns and villages you can explore are just as special. Breath-taking scenery.
Review 92:Alot of the staff were inexperienced especially in the bar area. the outside areas of the bedrooms were not looked after,, there was webs spiders and cigarette ends every where. poor sleep due to other guests disrespect,
Review 93:Location. reception manager helpful and friendly good at her job. food lovely. children loved activities.
Review 94:Bad reception, short opening hours for spa area, limited breakfast selection, not too much views from room, only from Restaurant area
Review 95:Location and customer service
Review 96:No TV No Phone reception Cot not in room Baby wouldn't sleep in cot (not as good as other hotels) Long walk to room Poor selection of food for breakfast Waiting too long for breakfast
Review 97:Scenary Staff Room very nice
Review 98:The dinner was reasonable but not as good as previously.
Review 99:Our 2 teenage girls loved the activities which have improved since we last stayed here 4 years ago. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. Staff were professional and yet low key in their approach.
Review 100:Cleaniness Bathroom Pillows Overall room was not clean, especially the windows, curtain's and bathroom. P
Review 101:Setting of hotel Tranquillity of area Design of hotel
Review 102:The food was the worst I've had in a long time. And we had to stay in a different and inferior room due to the booking mix up. It wasn't the wedding anniversary i had hoped for.
Review 103:The location is spectacular the spa was nice and they have wonderful activities
Review 104:after we read the menu and ordered our meal i was told that i had read the wrong menu. I only read the menu i was handed. when i got the new menu and ordered my meal the waiter left and came back a few minutes later to tell me that the starter i had oredred was of the menu. We then waited 45 mins to be told that the waiter had forgot to place the order with the kitchen. After our meal we went to the bar where we had to remind the bar staff three times to get us drinks. I am an x bar man my self and i know how difficult it can be at times to run a busy bar. We left our seat at the bar and sat down in the seating area where we ordered a drink for my wife and I My wifes drink arrived but once again i had to go to the bar and remind the staff about mine
Review 105:no window that could stay open at night in the loft, trees before the loft instead of a nice view. no salmon at breakfast. the particular area is a true micro climate so you never know what the weather it will be,
Review 106:friendly personel, great spa, the loft truly is a great stay. large beds, good bar food. beautiful area.
Review 107:The restaurant is too expensive but you can eat in pubs at 15-20 minutes with the car
Review 108:The activities are amazing with a very good staff The location is excellent to visit connemara Room is big and confortable Breakfast very good and copious
Review 109:Poor internet access and phone signal.
Review 110:The activities were great, the staff were friendly and the food was good, Lots of places to explore and the area scenically stunning..
Review 111:Couldn't fault Dephi at all.
Review 112:We loved the peace and quiet, yet nice busy atmosphere. Loved that we could get wifi but had no mobile phone service until we got back near westport The bedroom where we shared with our 3 children was big and spacious (they loved the bunk beds). Room was very clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Fab breakfast
Review 113:Price of activities and also kids club. The kids club was 20 euro for one 3 hour session. Most hotels would offer this free especially considering the rate we paid. No outdoor activities for a 4 year old. Food was meagre at best and overpriced.
Review 114:All the activities. View. Playroom. Location.
Review 115:Lack of flexibility and Organization shown by staff . Lack of entertainment facilities . Need a better daily schedule of events .
Review 116:Accommodation was good. And the food in the bar and restaurant was good . Location was excellent.Good activities .. had an excellent canoeing instructor and bike hire was good with lots of routes available.
Review 117:That there was not a fish dish catch of the day on the bar food menu. Easily done and would liven the bar menu. One only staff member was more business and organisation centered ,than person centered.
Review 118:the lay out of the hotel , it is easy to get to the outdoors from every location. There is not a funnel back to a noisy foyer and this promotes peace and calm. the decor , oak and stone matching the surroundings. the setting, paradise. The breakfast , healthy , great choice and abundance. No TVS in your face or in room, a real chill out break The friendliness of the staff the respect that guests had for each others space and peace adults as well as children.
Review 119:Disappointed that restaurant was average to poor compared to competition - the benchmark is Mangos or Portmor Restaurant in Westport - please offer more original and local produce because we often prefer to come back to base and dine at Delphi but stay away because the food is better elsewhere. It is very easy to prepare and serve fresh local produce - including new freshly scrubbed Irish potatoes (instead of Italian) Less is more - better to offer a reduced choice menu with higher quality of food and maybe having one/two specials we have to pre-book for the night if this makes it easier for supplies. If food reputation is good - people eat! No "instant mash" please! Instead of dried out pre-prepared chilli prawns why not freshly fried in garlic, herbs and butter? Same for fresh fish - quick pan fry in butter vastly superior than croquettes etc Green beans (Irish fresh flat beans and princess haricot are in season and divine as a change from year round broccoli and carrots) Black pepper please as a basic!
Review 120:quality of architecture in keeping with environment very clean friendly, helpful staff beautiful, scenic location great to have a balcony off the bedroom with sunshine and a view lovely breakfast choices great range of activities
Review 121:"Cosy Double Room" was basic and unclean. Very poor value for money. Food was ok but again, overpriced. Breakfast was very disappointing considering the price paid. We went elsewhere for breakfast on our second day.
Review 122:Excellent Spa facilities, clean, helpful staff, great treatments, Beautiful location. Adventure facilities are great and staff friendly and well-trained.
Review 123:Fantastic place to stay, relax, eat, have fun, see beautiful views and get in touch with nature! Great staff and so much to do in this hidden gem for people of all ages, couples, solo travellers, families and groups alike!! Looking forward to going back again!!
Review 124:I am a Mayo native and am writing this in a spirit of hoping for improvement rather than being harshly critical. Prior to our visit my party had stayed in Cashel House hotel the previous night – we accept that Cashel House is more suited to older people that may have mobility problems than Delphi resort hotel, which seems more geared to a younger mobile clientele. Delphi has a great location and the lady on the switch did give us good instructions. As a Mayo native I had the advantage of being familiar with the local geography (e.g when directed to the Louisburgh Road I knew where to go). Despite all this as we “kept the lake on our left” there were ZERO signs to indicate we were on right road at any point – if you were deliberately hiding the location then congrats – you did a great job. Fortunately we found one lady out walking in the rain who set us right. The loft rooms are unsuited to people with mobility problems – some other suggestions – floorboards creak like a herd of elephants, nowhere to hang clothes upstairs, very poor/absent internet connection. Restaurant and bar both short of supplies – we accept the location is remote but how hard is it to have a supply of brown sugar and thinly cut bacon and a range of drinks in the bar?. The staff meant well but despite large numbers many seemed to be working to rule almost against their will under duress – we won’t mention names. We shall not return – and good riddance I hear you say perhaps. Maybe some of these suggestions will help you improve the standard, which is our intention and not embarrass you. We are proud that Mayo has tried this kind of hotel but like the GAA team much room for improvement!
Review 125:Delphi hotel has a great location and the lady on the switch did give us good instructions. But what a disaster to find it.
Review 126:Phone signal non existing and wifi going on-off frequently. Can be good if you are looking for switching off from urban life for a few days! Heating (radiators) was not working and it was not looked at by the reception staff despite we asked politely a few times - room was quite cold due also to all connecting doors open
Review 127:Great surroundings with many outdoor activities and things to do for those loving fresh air and sports. The staff from the adventure centre were very friendly and motivated, and made our experience unforgettable. The hotel has good facilities including a spa and a reading room although we spent most time outside! The breakfast was rich breakfast with many options and the bar/restaurant staff was very helpful and nice.
Review 128:Food was a bit overpriced and starters were tiny. Food not cooked as asked for. Lighting in bedroom very poor for reading. Service slow in restaurant but bar staff very good.
Review 129:The bathroom in our room was amazing. Thermal suite was excellent. Staff very good overall.
Review 130:food was poor ,breakfast was not of a high standard but dinner was very poor quality,so poor the 2nd night we diner out
Review 131:it was clean and staff were very helpful
Review 132:Was unaware that there would be no phone coverage and as my husband was expecting an important phone call we actually had to cut our stay short and stayed only 1 night. Also there was no television in our room and our son found the one evening we did stay very long and boring.
Review 133:I wouldnt recommend eating in the restaurant - there are better value restaurants in the nearby village of Leenaun.
Review 134:The spa was good and the hotel is a really beautiful setting.
Review 135:Mobile/Cell coverage mainly unavailable. But that can be a good thing. You can always connect to free wi-fi if your really cannot fully chill out.
Review 136:Location was magical. Surrounded by lush green hills, is a fantastic building tailored made to blend into its natural surroundings. With great food, service and one of the best Spa's I ever encountered. Lots of organisted activities for children and adults of all ages both in mind and spirit.
Review 137:Booking.com described our room incorrectly. We thought we had booked a suite with a living room and bedroom with an upstairs terrace but instead we were surprised to find we had been allocated a standard room on the ground floor. However, the hotel kindly rectified this a day later explaining that it had been misdescribed in the original booking.
Review 138:We loved the dramatic mountain views and country walks passed cascading rivers. My 8 year old described the clouds rolling down the mountains as dragons breath. The activities were well organised and fun. Kayaking on the Fjord was our favourite.
Review 139:Room wasn't serviced so had to request clean towels from reception as room service never cleaned our room
Review 140:Scenery The View The Spa The local Area
