Reviews for Maldron Hotel Wexford

Review 1:It took over half an hour to a restaurant staff member ( the girl that was serving us) to find out if the vouchers we purchased in reception cover drinks we ordered. Staff at the reception didn't know they run a promotion that was advertised in a room ( meal vouchers). The vouchers we purchased were accepted as we entered the restaurant but in the end they kept us waiting at the desk to solve the issue. Also, cleaning standards in womens showers rooms ( leisure area) were in a disgraceful conditions. Lastly, too much bleach in water in a leisure area!!!!

Review 2:We liked the spacious room with the bathroom and also food in a restaurant was good

Review 3:The floors in sports bar were filty, room constantly cold, bed was not secure it would move on slightest touch and very uncomfortable, hairs in bathroom,no fan for bathroom, no crisps and some drinks as they hadnt restocked from christmas we were told we went two weeks after xmas

Review 4:Leisure centre and room was spacious

Review 5:Really bad condition of bath surround - sealer around bath putty-ed in to cover crack. Amateur repair and bath drain had to be prised open with knife to let water in or out.

Review 6:If you get a room close to the main road it is noisey could do with better Windows ! Bathroom not the cleanest scum around the base of the taps !

Review 7:Nice handy place to stay ! Cheap and cheerful no frills

Review 8:Service was slow at times, despite it being the first weekend in December and as there were some xmas parties on, this seemed to impact on the service in the bar/restaurant compared to our last visit. Family were disappointed that Jacuzzi wasn't working

Review 9:Staff very friendly, pleasant & helpful. Clean spacious rooms and comfortable beds.

Review 10:Price of kids club should be included in your package

Review 11:Good location for families with young kids no need to leave hotel, kids club very good, nice pool and really nice food.staff very helpful.

Review 12:Thursday nite bar man was so grumpy and everything seemed a big problem for him. Mubling under his breath as he walked away after taking your order like he didn't want you there..

Review 13:Checked in receptionists was very very helpful..

Review 14:Bar staff very poor, no kitchen open after 9.00pm arrived late not even a sandwich available. breakfast very poor and disorganised overpriced. served up brown bread which must have been exposed to the air for a week.

Review 15:comfortable clean room with good location.

Review 16:Wifi not very good.

Review 17:Good location and quiet enough. Friendly helpful staff. Lots of parking. Rather remote though so no good if you want to go to the pub

Review 18:There was a lot of noise on both nights we were there. The first night there was a party in another room that went on until 6 in the morning but it seemed to us that the staff did nothing to stop the noise. We were at the other end of the hotel and we could hear it all night. The second night was just general noise as our window opened out into the are where the smoking area was. The room was far too hot and because of the noise we couldn't open the windows. Finally the only breakfast option was for a buffet breakfast which cost €10. All I wanted in the morning was a bowl of cereal and some tea but still had to pay €10.

Review 19:The food in the bar/restaurant is at best 5/10. If your staving it's fine but overpriced for something you could dish out yourselve at home given 15 minutes. Needs work

Review 20:The rooms are really clean, confortable and I love when you enter a hotel room and its clean, confortable and relaxing. This is what the Maldron Wexfrod is.

Review 21:Great location for catching the ferry the following morning. Pleasant functional hotel but staff went out of their way to help especially with one of us who is in a wheelchair

Review 22:We were dissappointed how we were treated when booking our meal in the hotel resturant on our 2nd eve. Also dissappointed we werent asked if we enjoyed our stay on our departure... no smile or cheer...

Review 23:We did like some of the staff espically the man with the english accent .... he was very helpful x cheerful...on reception!!

Review 24:Hotel is old and run down- bar drinks were laughingly small (like a tablespoon of Irish Creme)- no guest shuttle into town.

Review 25:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 26:the lay out off the hotel /and the rooms swimming pool was great nice and warm all over the hotel one young man the bar man served us our dinner and had a great smile and persanoilatie will be back again

Review 27:Staff were ok

Review 28:Food was not great we were waiting a while no Christmas three up no Fresh fruit for breakfast to be honest I could go on and on not even a shower hat

Review 29:I was very happy with my stay in the Maldron, we were a group of 4 and we asked for interconnecting rooms and our request was granted. The leisure facility was excellent as well. Its a good location as well. Staff were friendly and helpful

Review 30:Dinner there first night. Disaster.. Curry was so salty and rice was not cooked. waited for half hour for desert and when it eventually came out it was meringue with frozen mixed fruit on top. Breakfast was nice but avoid juice as glasses were filthy.

Review 31:location and staff friendly

Review 32:I felt it would really benifit from having a area with comfortable sofa's, home from home feel, other wise it was a very nice place to stay :)

Review 33:it was very clean, and friendly

Review 34:Check in was not very efficient or pleasant. I had phoned earlier in the day to inform staff be circa 7pm before we arrived and they said be fine. When we arrived could not locate my booking and lady on desk was not friendly or helpful. It was special occasion my friends birthday and it left a sour taste within the group. The cot bed in the room was not assembled correctly and it colapsed back when one of the girls lay on it. We asked for a different room as we were cramped and bed did not feel safe. We were accommodated and moved room. Having said that the staff working for the rest of the weekend were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 35:Great value...familar spot have stayed earlier this year and twice previously with friends. Definately a favourite in Wexford!

Review 36:Walls are very thin so you can hear everything from the rooms all around (even across the hall). Windows also don't keep out any noise. We switched from a room on the road side of the hotel (too noisy) to an interior room and it smelled of stale smoke.

Review 37:Good value, comfortable bed and spacious room.

Review 38:I couldn't say I had a bad experience - we dined in the bar/grill area I found that a bit small and impersonal. The breakfast was fair - the bacon and scrambled egg were overcooked.

Review 39:I liked how friendly and helpful the staff was.

Review 40:Service in the bar was poor. I don't think it was at fault of the staff member at the bar as he seemed to be on his own and doing his best , obviously a mamagent issue not organising enough staff to facilitate maybe because ur was a Thursday night however the hotel was busy ! Also the lady in charge of the breakfast was unbelievably irritating with her manner , we didn't have breakfast included but said wel pay there and then , which seemed to create a big issue for her andyst able repeated it 10 times to us that we would have to pay , in the end my father went out paid at reception for the whole table and complained that the girl was making an issue of nothing ! Breakfast itself was fine nothing to write home about !

Review 41:Location and convenience , value for money

Review 42:but what i didn't like was there was only three pillows in a double room my husband and i like to sleep on two pillows. we spent more money on taxi es into town it was 9 euro or 11 euro each way not worth it . we were disturbed on the second night with the noise of young couples shouting and banging doors just out side our room from three in the morning till 6.30am.glass broke on the hall way when we went back up to our room no one their to look after this someone tray from the morning before was left outside their room till that evening. sorry but this was bad.

Review 43:the room was warm and and clean nice dark curtains .

Review 44:I would have liked the bar where food served to have mor,e space between tables found it very cramped also my sister stayed and did not get any sleep found bed very uncomfortable

Review 45:There was no cold coors or hop on tap or coke just pepsi on sat night in the bar. there was kids outside our room on friday night could hear them clearly from our room..

Review 46:Great food in the bar.

Review 47:Reception staff i thought were a bit ignorant not very helpful or welcoming. Not properly explained that the breakfast was self service and breakfast was cold staff walking around but not helping residents. Definitely not worth €10 per person

Review 48:Rooms were comfortable

Review 49:the traffic was awful got woken up at 4.30 am . room was in back with veranda looking onto busy road. double doors seemed to be double glazed, but noise was bad. I didn't realize at time of booking I should have brought earplugs!!! it was a good price €49 but I suppose because its cheap they put you in basic rooms. also it was a room for disabled person

Review 50:room was clean and had a big bed, I was in room 152 it seemed to be for disabled people, had pull cords and bars in bath etc.

Review 51:With the exception of Pla and Linda(?) who were thoroughly excellent, every other staff member gave the impression that I was an inconvenience.

Review 52:Mostly the food was great and Pla and Linda were brilliant and deserve a well done from their team leader

Review 53:When checking in we were never told if we had use of pool or leisure centre on our stay. When checking out never asked how was our stay. Was everything ok?

Review 54:Staff unfriendly to memeber of our group. Bathroom filty. it was the worst I have stayed in in last 5 years. It was very noisy with rough hens screaming their lungs out at 3am. The location was quite a bit out of town and we couldnt walk back after the show. As for value for money it cost about the same as many of the locations I have booked over the past 5 years and the hotel was very poor so not good value for money

Review 55:Clean bed

Review 56:At first, I decided not to have breakfast...but changed my mind and decided to....when I went to the dining room...I was informed by breakfast staff... I hadnt booked it but said it was ok to have it but I had to pay for it and I knew this in the first place...however on two occasions, she approached me stating first of all it was a difficult situation re what books it would be credited to and the second time handing me the bill and reminding me not to forget the fact that I owed the hotel 10euro for breakfast....all this before and during breakfast...and other guests listening....this for me was a put off to have to experience again...should I ever decide to stay again....after all its a top class hotel and not a takeaway....

Review 57:The room was excellent...reception staff were excellent...

Review 58:I asked for a quiet room, and got one facing the road. It was extremely noisy, as though the bed was placed in the middle of the road!

Review 59:Hotel room was comfortable, and fairly good value for money. The breakfast was tasty.

Review 60:the hotel was overrun with unsupervised children, going up and down the lifts chasing each other..there was no security or manager apparent, and the breakfast was a free for all no chef just help yourself buffet even hot foods to which children were hanging over the dishes helping themselves. It was outrageous.

Review 61:staff were v. helpful but overworked.

Review 62:See first box

Review 63:No service for breckfast..I have traveled a lot and this is first time ever that I was not offered tea or coffee by a human...if this hotels policy is to have minimum service and insisted in serving tea and coffee by machine then they need at least 3 coffee machines at different locations in the restraunt. ..also they need to have mugs at the appropriate location... The congestion at breckfast was like a pigs dinner...I most definately will never stay here again and will tell my friends the same thing...reception staff were nice and helpful.hotel fine but u need to fire the person who is responsible for such chaos at breckfast.

Review 64:There was no bar food served in the foyer area- one had to eat in the bar, which was full of children running amok (half term). There was a restaurant on site also serving very good food, but all we wanted was a sandwich. Room service was not available.

Review 65:Clean, comfortable rooms & public spaces. Excellent gym.

Review 66:The hotel was dirty and noisy. We had to get our room changed because the first room was smelly and felt dirty

Review 67:The staff was the only nice thing about this place

Review 68:There was a smell in the bathroom where the wash hand basin was not clean with a lot of dirt build up on the overflow. I mentioned this at reception. There was also a problem with the lift the call button on floor 2 wasn't working.

Review 69:The price was reasonable for one person.

Review 70:Our room was damp and very cold at night considering we had a small baby with us it wasn't very good. Also there was not enough waiting staff in the bar and there was a long wait for food drinks and even the bill

Review 71:I loved the fact that it was so child friendly

Review 72:staff not serving aclahol to residents after hours most hotels allow customers to have a drink after the closing time of the public hours but staff point blanked refused to serve me

Review 73:very clean good location food good rooms clean beds were good heat of rooms good

Review 74:The bed was not comfortable and the bar was very poor.

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restraint was fabulous. The hotel was spotlessly clean.

Review 76:Hotel location was too far from town. Breakfast even though was lovely. was 10euros per head extra.

Review 77:Lovely friendly staff. Food was briĺlant. Fine size gym and leisure centre

Review 78:Our room was above the bar, very noisy because there was a live band on both nights we were there. Also its a 30 minutes walk into Wexford town, €10 return in a taxi.

Review 79:Nice clean hotel, staff in restaurant were lovely, had a really nice meal in restaurant , excellent food, reception staff not great,

Review 80:Doors into the hotel weren't automatic so arkward with suitcases.

Review 81:Nice room with water and chocolate left for us and also local paper. Breakfast was good.

Review 82:Traffic noise noticeable and a little way out of town, but minr quibbles, overall very good.

Review 83:Excellent value for money , good quality hotel very close to Rosslare harbour so ideal for early morning ferry.

Review 84:The staff struggled a little in the bar with handling meals & drink service.

Review 85:Location of the hotel, as we had to catch a ferry early in the morning.

Review 86:No bar food after 9pm. What's that about?

Review 87:Absolutely EVERYTHING about the Maldron Wexford is totes amaze balls. In fairness it's not too hard to get the basics right but many hotels fail. But not the Maldron Wexford, OH NO. They tick all your boxes and go the extra mile by coming back to your boxes and filling them with their Wexford charm. i was checked in by a charming lady by the name of Somebody Ryan. She greeted me with a smile and proceeded to talk in a Donegal accent until I realised that actually I was in like Wexford - at which point her accent switched to Wexford. Both accents share a sing song litlting and the roundness of inhabiting a location on the edge. Basicall the Maldron is Great and should be experienced to be believed.

Review 88:Front door had no canopy for rain. So you got wet walking from drop off to door. Not a negative

Review 89:Room size is bug. Cleanliness good. No of uk sockets. Bed was hard but comfortable. Food excellent and better than most restaurants. Service excellent.

Review 90:Room service took a long time to answer and the food wasn't really very nice.

Review 91:Nice big room with good facilities and cleanliness. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 92:The breakfast was terrible, it was cold, rashers were rock hard, sausages were tasteless, eggs not cooked fully. No proper room service for breakfast just bread, pastries, fruit and yoghurt not great when someone has special dietary requirements and no room to write same in order card. Some of the bar staff were not very friendly which was disappointing as it's nice to be served with a smile .

Review 93:The bar food was nice and the room was clean and comfortable

Review 94:A warm night with no air con. A lot of traffic noise when window open

Review 95:Handy stop over after arriving on afternoon ferrry. Room was nice but a long walk to the pool.

Review 96:Didn't like the way the staff are maning alot of areas especially reception area .but although under the stress their were very friendly and welcoming .

Review 97:The beds were so comfortable and chef at breakfast was very helpful

Review 98:The hotel was lovely and the staff were brilliant extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. Will definitely recommend and stay there again.

Review 99:hard beds scruffy decor a lot of road noise in our room and kids running around outside the bar area till all hours not the most pleasant experience

Review 100:Friendly staff

Review 101:EVERYTHING TOO DARK ,.NEEDS AN INJECTION OF COLOUR ESPECIALLY THE POOL AREA , MAYBEE PAINT SOME SUNFLOWERS ON THE WALLS . IT NEEDS TO BRIGHTEN UP .AND WE WERE THERE ON A VERY SUNNY DAY AND IT WAS DARK . THIS WD NOT PUT US OFF RETURNING TO THE MALDRON WEXFORD .

Review 102:EXCELLENT STAFF , CHLOE , KIM , FOOD FANTASTIC , DINING AREA A BIT DARK BUT AGAIN GREAT STAFF .

Review 103:Decor very shabby and 'tired'. Bar & restaurant seating stained. All needs a good refurb!

Review 104:Location excellent for onward travel from Rosslare. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Bar food and breakfast very good quality food.

Review 105:Basic hotel but rooms so big and airy and spotless. Didnt eat there, but food looked good. Price very reasonable but just a little far to walk to town centre, ,and need to change pillow . So hard. Lol

Review 106:The beds & pillows were hard & uncomfortable so we didn't sleep very well. We could hear the live music in the bar which made it difficult for kids to go to sleep. The shower area in the pool smelled awful. The carpets throughout didn't look like they were hoovered at all during our stay!

Review 107:Staff were very nice & helpful.

Review 108:Room next to lift, asked for the door that opens onto corridor for its hinges to be oiled as they made noise as people entered corridor this was not done.

Review 109:Location and relaxed atmosphere

Review 110:The bar staff could "wake up" a bit. Tables were left uncleared for some time. With three working behind the bar, more attention shopuld be focused on keeping tables clear after patrons leave the bar and enviorns.

Review 111:The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 112:The double bed was on the small size for my husband! The bathroom was a bit of a squeeze too.

Review 113:How quickly we were let in at night after our return from the wedding.

Review 114:Food in bar was poor in quality and mistakes in each order made. Thought price for crazy golf expensive. Swimming pool changing rooms and shower area need updating. Quite smelly!!!

Review 115:Our room wasn't ready till half 4 in the afternoon, very dissapointing as it delayed us starting of our holiday. Found the reception staff neglectful.

Review 116:The bed was comfortable, the jacuzzi was nice

Review 117:As a mature couple we did not like the the late night noise (4-30)am stemming from a hen party and a stag party.

Review 118:Very convenient for the Rosslare ferry. Clean modern good size bedroom. The food in the restaurant was very good.

Review 119:The bar had no cocktails and there were no ice mecince we had keep asking at bar for ice

Review 120:The staff were lovely I thought the entertainment could of been better

Review 121:The swimming pool was closed for most of the daytime we were there.

Review 122:Very good playground for children and there is a kids club available and swimming pool. The evening entertainment was very good and good that kids could stay until 10pm.

Review 123:The family room we booked was far too small for 2adults and 4young children. We didn't have enough pillows and when we called down for more there was no one available to bring them up. Room service food was cold. Hair in the milk at breakfast. When I complained about the room before leaving the following morning the receptionist was very rude and unhelpful.

Review 124:The girl at reception who greeted us upon arrival was very accomodating and friendly.

Review 125:the be was slightly loud when you turn

Review 126:Totally child friendly load of entertainment for them play ground and mini golf and indoor swimm pool close to black water open farm we ha a great action packed two day stay

Review 127:Playground could do with seating for parents. Beds had seen better days - bases were shabby.

Review 128:Good sized family room. Staff very friendly. Nice hotel. Pool great. Entertainment good.

Review 129:no second chair/arm chair no second pillow tv had to be replaced 2 hour s taken for dinner not enough staff bar ,restaurant area did not appeal

Review 130:food was good

Review 131:hotel 4.5 miles from wexford town with no bus service. Everything in kids games room cost one euro for 40 seconds on average, no soap put room aldo requested twice.

Review 132:Staff very friendly, Good breakfast.

Review 133:Check-in is at three o'clock, which is not ideal when attending a wedding at Horetown House. The staff were very nice but the hotel could not beforehand guarantee an early check-in. The cleaners woke us at half ten when check-out was at twelve, which was not ideal!

Review 134:The staff at reception were very nice!

Review 135:I just thought it was too expensive for what we got, we booked in for a wedding for one night and it was 134e per room and no breakfast..

Review 136:I liked the location and the good was nice in the bar.. Staff were very friendly too.

Review 137:A rather frosty receptionist I felt but perfectly polite and dealt with my queries accurately. She should try to be a little more gentle and smiling with a very senior woman who is deaf. Perhaps her feet were aching after a busy day.

Review 138:The room was adequate , a little tired but very comfortable and all I needed for one night stay. I stayed here a month previously and was happy to return as the staff were so caring. I was concerned to note the traffic on the roundabout below but was not disturbed by it in any way . Dinner was excellent ,waiters very attentive and showed an interest several times to assure I was satisfied. Much better (again) than my experience with another large resort hotel on the main road . The night porter was most pleasant when I checked out very early next morning.

Review 139:The hotel really caters to young families with lots of small children. We found it a bit overwhelming. Reception staff preoccupied.

Review 140:It was convenient for us.
