Reviews for Creebridge House Hotel

Review 1:Furniture is tired needs replacing!

Review 2:Friendly and helpful staff especially on departure, when there was an issue with the card machine! Dogs were happy in front of the fire in the bar.

Review 3:My visit was for an evening event held at the hotel, I stayed overnight and left after a good breakfast the following morning. On this brief visit I have no adverse comment to make.

Review 4:On entering the hotel, to be greeted by the warm and homely atmosphere of the log fire in reception, this was very welcome, after driving 150 miles in very poor weather conditions.

Review 5:Food service was a little slow on my last evening/morning but this may have been a one-off.

Review 6:The hotel has a wonderful location in its own grounds but right in the middle of town. The staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. Great breakfasts, a good restaurant and a comfortable ambience.

Review 7:Very disappointed with bedroom. Had requested a garden view (realise that this can only be a request), but our room had no view at all - bottom half of the window had frosted glass, whilst the top half gave a view of an asphalt roof. Bedroom furniture was very tired, and the bathroom was in a very poor condition and needed a total refurbishment. Overall, expensive for the standard of accommodation.

Review 8:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Plenty of parking. Reasonable quality of food.

Review 9:Staff could not have been nicer ! We wanted to eat after returning from local cinema but would have been after the kitchen closed, but I asked before I left and they took our orders and had chef have it ready as we walked in and they sat us straight down. Not one hint of it being a hassle and staff at restaurant were lovely also will be returning here for definite!

Review 10:Nothing of importance, although 3 steps down to the bathroom was a touch demanding at 4am.

Review 11:The pleasant ambience established by highly professional and extremely friendly members of staff. Breakfasts were good and evening meals were imaginatively presented and well-cooked. Wine choice, though limited, was realistic given turnover and most bottles were reasonably priced. The garden was well-maintained and the bar was agreeably run by Kenny!

Review 12:Thermostat in shower not working making it impossible to control water temperature. Fire alarm went off 3 times in 24 hours.

Review 13:Lovely quiet location on the outskirts of Newton Stewart. Very comfortable room. Attractive, cosy bar. Extensive dinner menu. Food well presented and tasty. Extremely pleasant, helpful staff.

Review 14:Dark fire place with bits of rubbish on top of coals. Rather cold damp day so it would have been nice when first arriving at reception to have a fire burning as on my last two visits.

Review 15:Lovely room with a view over garden friendly and efficient staff excellent food and a large menu choice

Review 16:Room was slightly on the small side and furnishings were tired Bar area was again quite small and felt cramped Two of the three real ales on sale were out and the non-alcoholic choice of drinks was quite limited!

Review 17:Staff were first class. Polite, helpful and smiling Restaurant food very enjoyable, with a decent selection Pleasant lounge area

Review 18:fan in room for really hot weather- unfortunately that day had been 30 degrees, being an older building it was so hot and with no air conditioning.. mobile room fan would have helped.. not too much expense for the hotel.

Review 19:fabulous staff, very welcoming and friendly

Review 20:Plumbing not very good you could hear people running showers toilets being flushed.room could have been a bit cleaner cobwebs on windows and walls needs refurbishing

Review 21:Location fine very peaceful location.food good.

Review 22:Attitude of some of the staff a bit abrupt. Breakfast menu choice rather limited considering the B&B rate. Self service re the coffee rather than staff asking to serve & replenish the cup.

Review 23:The hotel sitting in its grounds was attractive and an extremely quiet location. Good parking.Kenny the barman, evening meals and waiting staff all good.

Review 24:We liked this hotel and would stay again if in the area.

Review 25:We liked our room apart from broken chair, however had a nice garden view. We enjoyed good service and a very good dinner in dining room. Parking was easy and we had help with the luggage. We reported one bedside light not working, staff don't know that unless told..

Review 26:Restaurant very noisy due to a funeral tea that over spilled in to restaurant _we felt staff could have dealt with this in bar.

Review 27:The food was fab

Review 28:Place needed some TLC

Review 29:Kirsty was fantastic. Very welcoming. Willing to put herself out.

Review 30:Very helpful staff

Review 31:nothing

Review 32:Good atmosphere .......you feel very welcome

Review 33:The staff were very friendly and attentive and made us very welcome. Good comfy hotel.

Review 34:Bedroom and bathroom somewhat lacking in facilities.

Review 35:Location, welcome, food.

Review 36:Stairs

Review 37:Friendly staff

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:Stayed here last year and can't fault anything, staff were helpful and pleasant we got the room we asked for a really nice place to stay

Review 40:Interior could do with a bit of a makeover.

Review 41:Food excellent

Review 42:The en-suite bathrooms needed very minor refurbishment.

Review 43:Wonderful old building full of character, friendly obliging staff, tremendous food, beautiful location, good price.

Review 44:All excellent. Very pleasant staff. Cosy, quiet room. Particularly good dinner and one of the best cooked breakfasts I've had. And at reasonable prices. Thinking of taking the Cairnryan ferry again - in which case I will be back.

Review 45:Shower tray filled with water as drain was blocked. I should have told staff really. I didn't block it but it was gunked with hair and soap. Room fittings were slightly tired looking.

Review 46:Food was great. Log fires made for a relaxing environment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy.

Review 47:Rooms are a little dated and corridor noise is an issue when sleeping.

Review 48:Food was outstanding. Breakfast was excellent. Large but Cosy hotel with a good bar and lounge area.

Review 49:It was a very cold day when we arrived and our room took a long time to heat up.The staff gave us a very welcome heater.

Review 50:The menu was varied and gave a good selection from which.to choose. We were able to enjoy our first meal in the warmth of the bar.

Review 51:Breakfast was let down a little because the eggs were hard. The Hotel is a little run down in some areas could do with a bit of work.

Review 52:The standard of food was excellent our evening meal was a delight. The standard of the ingredients for breakfast were also excellent. Our stay was very enjoyable and I would recommend it the Creebridge to anyone.

Review 53:Our room !! The bed was barely a double . It was cramped and we knew we were in trouble when we spotted a fan on the dressing table no air conditioning. There was a recess in the room to put our clothes and luggage,When I looked out of the window I was looking onto another roof . The bathroom could have been cleaner , I was so upset . I had booked this hotel to finish off a surprise holiday for my wife. We had just returned from two weeks in Northern Ireland staying in a five star hotel ,we had started our holiday in Scotland in a hotel suite for the same price per night as this one and I had booked this one for two nights !! After walking around the town I was still very disappointed with the hotel my wife hadn't even unpacked her overnight bag ,I decided to check out the following morning. We ate in the brasserie which was ok . The bar of the hotel was friendly. We went down to the breakfast room which had the room numbers on the table which in my opinion is not a good idea to let people know you are not in your room ,,,,the breakfast was ok but they got our order totally mixed up . This experience was not a good one the hotel is one of a lower standard to how it was advertised on booking . Com but in fairness they only have a picture of the outside of the hotel . Happy to leave ,,,,

Review 54:The look of the hotel from the outside is beautiful, the garden was well kept and peaceful to sit in .

Review 55:The décor is dated and in sore need of modernisation. It also seemed like corners were being cut to save costs... some cheap breakfast ingredients (particularly the sausages), plastic garden tables for the guest dining area (who have to dine separately from the main restaurant if they wanted dinner - odd!).

Review 56:The hotel exterior and gardens are very pretty, and its location in the pretty town of Newton Stewart is perfect for accessing Galloway forest park and surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome.

Review 57:Dinner was okay, but sounded better on the menu than it really was.

Review 58:The spacious room with garden view was lovely! Breakfast was very good. Nice idea to rotate seating at breakfast so that everybody got a chance for the best view. Ample lounge space for guests, nice bar

Review 59:The 1 tonne door key! Newton Stewart is a pleasant village but has no shops with "touristy" stuff. We had to go to Castle Douglas and Glasgow for that.

Review 60:The grounds, ease of parking, ambience, room, food, staff, location for seeing that area of Scotland.

Review 61:The room was clean and bed spotless but ordinary for the cost. The lounges needed some TLC and décor a bit grubby but they were comfy

Review 62:The food was wonderful and the staff excellent

Review 63:The room (11) had no outlook - half the window pane was obscure glass. Make sure you get a room overlooking the garden. The mattresses were too soft - my back is still painful and I am going to need physiotherapy!

Review 64:The food was good and the staff very friendly. The room itself was well-equipped.

Review 65:We had no issues.

Review 66:The staff were very welcoming, sitting areas provide comfortable relaxation spaces. The food was of a high standard, good variety and reasonably priced.

Review 67:shower was a little feeble but plenty of hot water. Would have liked breakfast earlier although staff very accommodating.

Review 68:good bed, comfortable room. Food good value

Review 69:Nothing to dislike.

Review 70:The staff were knowledgeable friendly and very smart. The breakfasts are excellent and the evening menu is varied and most of all the bar has real ale.

Review 71:It seems almost too good to be true but the real answer is Nothing !

Review 72:As usual our visit to Newton Stewart and in particular to Creebridge House was a delight. Having first been to Creebridge House some 40 years ago and spent some time in Newton Stewart each of those 40years we must be described as biased.Once again we were not dissapointed. The area is wonderfull and Creebridge house is a delight.

Review 73:Over priced in relation to facilities such as dining area which was very plain for dinner. No help with cases as there was no lift. Understandable in such a building but no help was offered to get cases up two flights of stairs.

Review 74:Pleasant old country house.and grounds. River near bye.Breakfast was good.

Review 75:That we had only booked 3 night's

Review 76:All staff could not have been any friendlier and nothing was a problem. Accommodation was lovely, food superb and location perfect.

Review 77:The rain.

Review 78:We were very happy there we liked the remort village type setup. It was raining most of the time but very fine weather when we were leaving wish we could come back with our children and grand children and spend more time.

Review 79:Service was excellent in both the restaurant and front of house and the food was excellent. The hotel was an excellent base to explore Dumfries and Galoway.

Review 80:Not much really!

Review 81:Friendly staff; very welcoming; private car park; excellent good value restaurant; customer focus; location is within walking distance of town; proximity to countryside around River Cree, Loch Trool, Merrick and Dumfries and Galloway coastal areas; close to main route.

Review 82:Bathrooms and central heating needs updating/makeover. Use dining room consistently rather than bar for dining facilities for hotel guests

Review 83:Staff heplful, interested and personable. Worked really hard to make Guests feel comfortable. No request was too much Rooms a good size.

Review 84:Just one small point the shower head gave a very small spread which I found inadequate, had a bath instead.

Review 85:Friendly,efficient,helpful staff. Good food, excellent breakfast. We had a dog with us, they placed few restrictions on where she could go.

Review 86:Squashed in behind a garage. Extensive rowdy wake, although well handled by staff. Use of residents' lounge for external use - although again well handled by staff.

Review 87:Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Caring staff. Good food Pleasant room Lots to do

Review 88:The bed was too soft - but I have a bad back. Nice and big though. All chairs in room were very low - however there was big residents' lounge

Review 89:The food was good - good choice - good value for money

Review 90:It was so good that it`s difficult to find faults. However, the shower in our room was poor for water pressure (may have been our setting of it), and it could be difficult and perhaps hazardous for some folk to climb into the bath.

Review 91:Good general welcoming atmosphere. Location

Review 92:we could not fault this place

Review 93:The quality of service the attention to detail the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff the food the room everything about the place.....

Review 124:Lovely grounds, friendly efficient staff. Rooms comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Review 125:Showing outward signs of wear/decline
