Reviews for Whitford House Hotel

Review 1:Old and smelly place. Require some work. Rooms are in old, and not a nice way, style. Don't know how place got good reputation and 4 stars.

Review 2:Nothing. It was last minute overnight, job requirement. Considering 4 star rating, and price, hotel was bad choice.

Review 3:Whitford is excellent in every aspect. The leisure centre is so nice and clean and the food is to die for. Catherine on reception was so helpful to us. If in wexford don't hesitate to stay in Whitford. Mary.

Review 4:The old women receptionist very ignorant when I arrived at the hotel, no people skills whatsoever, waiting 10 mins at the reception desk, not cut out to be dealing with people Sheila was her name.

Review 5:Not much overrated

Review 6:Very welcoming staff, nicely decorated and spotless. Great location close to town. Evening meal in the bar was great as was the breakfast, (great choice)!

Review 7:Room had stale smell like damp or more likely cigarette smoke. One more thing to bring to the attention of Management, on day we were leaving we arranged to meet two Family Members for meet up and a coffee and I wanted to treat them, so we ordered three coffees and wanted one soup so the Waitress said I would have to get soup in Carvery so that was grand, the coffees were served and I went for soup and brought it back to table to be told they had paid for Coffees as waitress came looking for payment, so I went and paid for soup but was slightly annoyed the waitress was in such a rush for payment as I had intended paying for it all when I got soup,,

Review 8:All the Staff were very helpful and friendly, the bar food was very nice and breakfast was good

Review 9:A very comfortable family run hotel. Bedrooms were clean and well kept. The staff were very welcoming. Dinner in the bar was good value and offered a large range of choices- we hope to visit again!

Review 10:Restaurant staff was a bit inattentive and slow to respond to requests. Access, at all times, was limited to through the lobby making the attractive grounds hard to reach.

Review 11:Rooms were very comfortable. Hotel facilities and property were attractive.

Review 12:No wifi, no lift so had to carry our bags. Not much room for a quiet drink or none if piano bar is reserved.

Review 13:Customer service excellent, very nice food, quiet room.

Review 14:Gum in the bin. Only way to room was stairs and no porter. Not sure how this is a four-star hotel. It was expensive for the quality of hotel.

Review 15:Very good meal at a reasonable cost.

Review 16:Just wish I cud have booked direct But the emails I sent never got a reply I hoped to ask for your 2 nite deal with eve meal. But cud not get answer from you

Review 17:The whole welcome we received The help fullness of the lady on the phone when I called. Every member of staff gave a hello & a big smile. Very helpful on everything we asked Looking forward to staying with again next sat nite Just wish I cud have booked direct. But I cud not contact you via internet

Review 18:Mobile network signal was very weak + wifi was not great.

Review 19:Hospitality was excellent. The bar and restaurant fabulous food with excellent staff! The room was lovely. Lesuire facilities excellent!

Review 20:Location - we were informed it was half an hour walk to town but it was quite a bit more. I was quoted one price over the phone and when I rang back a few hours later it had gone up. Eventually got resolved but quite frustrating.

Review 21:Room was nice and spacious, very clean

Review 22:I stayed here last year with my sister and the staff treated us so well and the food was amazing so I brought my boyfriend back to experience what I did. This time round the food was even nicer! The woman at reception was very helpful and all the staff went the extra bit to be helpful and polite. Definitely my favourite hotel to stay in. It's a two hour drive away from where I live but definitely worth it.

Review 23:Beds were not very good. In a hotel it is the bed you really need to be of high quality.

Review 24:The whole ambience, food & staff were excellent. Would stay again.

Review 25:Absolutely nothing

Review 26:Where do i start?? I liked absolutely everything from the get go, checking in with Debbie, she was a real pleasure to deal with,, the room was lovely with a fab big comfortable bed, food was lovely, all the staff were second to none, they even stock my favourite pint (Budweiser ice cold ) Ger Shannon the night porter is a real gent and a fountain of knowledge, he is wonderful on Family History etc. I will certainly be back Thank You to The Whitford Hotel Management and Staff, Tony Kendrick

Review 27:Beds and bathroom could do with a slight upgrade.

Review 28:Extensive menu with very good food. Beauty salon and massage on site also a major plus and the staff there too were also lovely. Nicely surprised at how big the gym was and leisure area was well equipped.

Review 29:From the moment i arrived From front of house to bar and waiting staff they could not have been more friendly and helpful. A very well run hotel With happy people working

Review 30:Family owned, Irish staff, most helpful, could not do enough for us. Food brilliant, hotel gardens fab. entertainment at night fab. would recommend and will be back. Thanks

Review 31:Cannot fault anything. The food was excellent, even the bar food. Staff could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. If any hotel owner wants to know what customer service is then spend a night at the Whitford House Hotel.

Review 32:Noise from road traffic early morning. Some of the bar food served was not of a high standard .

Review 33:Bedroom , bar and most of the food. The leisure center was very good ,really liked the pool apart from swimming lessons taking up every lane.

Review 34:nothing

Review 35:Stayed here twice. Great rooms. Restaurant had nice ambience and good food. Bar had great atmosphere and the and the singer/guitarist on the Saturday night was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Review 36:The price was a little high. I didn't like not being able to choose my own table at breakfast and was put in a corner.

Review 37:The bar food was very good.

Review 38:This was on a busy road, so not much walking to be done.small pleasant gardens, but rather noisy with traffic and people activity.

Review 39:Beautiful hotel, Very very clean. Fabulous food and very pleasant staff. I felt Booking.com didn't do it justice ! Decor was outstanding.

Review 40:Told where to sit in bar, ie not to take up a larger table while having a cup of tea & a sandwich having just arrived at 4.30 in the afternoon with my elderly mother. I had chosen this table as other side of bar was noisy & also staff member was vacuuming all around the tables there.. This wasn't enough, a staff member came out & placed a reserved banner on table next to us(just in case we hadn't received the message verbally) Dusty bed side lamps & tables. Loose tile on bathroom floor(health & safety risk). No lift. Can hear toilets flushing in room next door. Can hear a lot of trucks late night/early morning from nearby busy road.

Review 41:Spacious room.

Review 42:Booked dinner in the restaurant for 8pm and ordered at 8.10 At 8 50 still no starter and when we asked the girl serving us she replied "You are up next" Totally unacceptable service and breakfast next morning was just as bad.Restaurant needs to be improved. It was busy in the bar but surely residents should take priority.Won'be returning in a hurry. Also on checkout complained at reception and was told it would be checked out.Nothing heard from them so obviously customer feed back is irrelevant.Sorry guys you are not even 2 star

Review 43:Nice friendly hotel but not 4 star compared to other hotels

Review 44:The bed and the pillows

Review 45:We did not have breakfast as we had to leave early but our evening meal was great Room was a good size pool area great and very helpful staff

Review 46:There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like.

Review 47:Beautiful decor, lovely staff, fantastic swimming pool, excellent bar food. Just perfect. And the home cooked scrambled eggs and smoked salmon were fabulous!

Review 48:The first meal in the bar was a disappointment but everything after that was fine

Review 49:Beautiful spacious rooms and actually getting served at your table for breakfast, no beating your way through the masses to get to the toaster.

Review 50:Liked everything. Beautiful flowers everywhere in the hotel and outside. Fabulous scent of the lilys in the corridors. Decor beautiful all over the hotel. Large bedroom with balcony. Huge bathroom. Lovely relaxing foyer area, and ambience in the bar was lovely.

Review 51:We stayed for two separate one night stop-overs en route to our destinations. The rooms are well equipped, clean and spacious and the breakfast is good. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had a meal in the bar on both nights which were very good. The hotel was perfect for our requirements but there are lots of facilities at the hotel which makes it very busy. I'm not sure that I would want to stay here for a longer time.

Review 52:When we went to the bar/lounge on the sat evening there was no where to sit. There were areas sectioned off for private parties. It left no place for residents to sit. We ended up going back to our room with our 2 boys. Very disappointed with that.

Review 53:Staff and hotel are lovely. Food is great too.

Review 54:I wasn't happy with the room , (paid for luxury one) , was dark and no any view, ( the one closest to the restaurant). Some noises came across the wall. We didn't feel the atmosphere in the room, and the cleaning lady talked very loud in the hall.

Review 55:We enjoyed walking in the gardens ,good plaing area for the children."I take my hat" to the all staff of the restaurant and wonderful food they prepared for us. Swimming pool very nice.

Review 56:The triple room was too warm.Fruit bowl at breakfast could have a better range of fruits.Should at least have strawberries being in Wexford.

Review 57:Bar food was excellent.Leisure centre also.

Review 58:Everything,staff were very friendly, food was lovely, family friendly,Hotel was very clean and you were made very welcome in the Hotel,we will be back again in the future,Thank you

Review 59:No air con dogs constantly barking from residential houses beside the hotel

Review 60:kid friendly very nice staff, very helpful Food was amazing, lovely and fresh at all times

Review 61:the staff were really friendly and helpful, the service in restaurant was excellent, food could not be faulted. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at !!!.

Review 62:The bedroom smelt very strongly of bleach. Breakfast was not as good or plentiful as it could be. We stayed in Brandon House a few days before which offered all the same with much better breakfast much less old fashioned and better pool area for fifty pounds cheaper for a family of four. We paid £118 for bed and breakfast at Whitford and the othe hotel ten minutes down the road was only £70. Whitford House was noticeably quieter too so I the hotel is definitely overpriced.

Review 63:Bar area was modern and good atmosphere. Pool was nice.

Review 64:I have to say myself and my sister's had a evening meal at the hotel and it was absolutely gorgeous,we all enjoyed it,it was the best part of our stay

Review 65:Breakfast was an add-on at €15.00 per person for the equivalent of a mini breakfast. Dinner on both nights was excellent . It was spoiled on 2nd. night when coffee I ordered was not given to me, and when we left after about 15 mins. were given bill with coffee cost included.

Review 66:Evening meal of a high quality

Review 67:Very small complaint our shower didn't work and no instructions on how to use it. I did report it to receptionist.

Review 68:Very welcoming and the surrounding gardens beautifully kept a joy to see. spa/ pool excellent. Breakfast menu very good and a little different

Review 69:Having stayed at plenty of hotels at home and abroad I never encountered having a "hold" of €20 placed on your credit card. Usually it is just swiped when you check in. I thought this was odd. Also, the room wasn't very well cleaned on our second day as glasses were not removed.

Review 70:A lovely bright and large family room with a large bathroom. Great leisure centre and clean pool. Food was good although the chicken Cesar salad was a bit odd as it had heavily cajun spiced chicken pieces on it! Gardens and staff were nice.

Review 71:In the family room where there are three single beds, the duvet would need to be extended by one foot in order to be useful for a six feet guy.

Review 72:Excellent service. Excellent choice for breakfast. The food served in the dining room is very good.

Review 73:We had to run for the ferry and could only grab a quick breakfast the next day. The staff were again very understanding and helpful as we raided the cold buffet!

Review 74:Very comfortable rooms, a great pool and spa and very friendly staff. We had a great bar meal in the bar section. Fast and efficient staff, very cheerful and the food was great

Review 75:No elevator, had to carry our suitcases upstairs.

Review 76:Great place to stay at the end of your trip around Ireland because it's close to the ferrie port.

Review 77:Perfect location for exploring Wexford and Rosslare. Beautiful room with balcony. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast and bar food were excellent.

Review 78:when i arrived knowing the price i was told over the phone they charged me an extra 30 for an up grade fee i didnt know about or had not been said to me in previous conversations with this hotel dissapointed about that.

Review 79:breakfast was good and cooked fresh

Review 80:Shower kept going from hot to cold so you were either cold or scalded, love my shower in the morning so not a good start to the day

Review 81:Very comfortable surroundings, staff are wonderful

Review 82:Very noisy late into the night. Found it difficult to sleep. Place would do well to think about insulating rooms.

Review 83:Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 84:Not as "4 star" as expected re: cleanliness. Brass plates on doors grubby with prints & doors in general grubby... tended to push doors open with elbow! Lamp shades that are buckled need replacing. Bath in en-suite quite small so shower curtain touching off you as you showered... a screen would be infinitely better.

Review 85:Staff who are very helpful, use of pool and free wifi

Review 86:People matter in the Whitford. Staff engaged warmly with guests and were most accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and personal preferences remembered on the second morning.....most impressive! Compliments to management and staff on a job truly well done!

Review 87:I live in a very quiet area, so not use to much noise, when booking into the whitford I asked for a quiet room. I was assured that my room was quiet. It was facing a busy road and a playground was within ten feet of my window. The room was next to the leisure centre and the air con to that was next to my window. No fan in the room so had no choice but to open the windows as it was so hot in my south facing room, and the smell of the kitchens then wafted into the room making it smell like a fish and chip shop. When I tried to talk to the front desk, I was told they were full and had no other room. I got less than three hours sleep and that was disturbed by kiddies playing and mums and dads enjoyed their drinks in the beer garden next to the playground. I won't be staying again

Review 88:The room was lovely and big and very clean. Breakfast was good and so was the bar food

Review 89:We had requested a twin room but discovered that it was made up as a double. We had to wait in reception while the room was reconfigured. This was done quite quickly.

Review 90:The room was very comfortable and the bar food and service was excellent.

Review 91:Only thing we didn't like was the pints. I like a pint that the head lasts on but the few we had went flat very quick.

Review 92:They food was excellent but more variety might be nice.

Review 93:Brilliant hotel, friendly staff, excellent food and lovely decor. There wouldnt be one thing we could find negative. The hotel appeared to be full with a large party of children, however this didnt stop the staff from making sure everyones needs were dealt with.

Review 94:WHY DID I HAVE TO POINT OUT THINGS LIKE THE SHOWER NOT WORKING,DRAWERS IN CUPBOARDS NOT OPENING,WHY NOT HAVE STAFF CHECK THESE OUT

Review 95:DAVID IN THE BAR WAS VERY PLESANT AND CHEERFUL,LOOKED LIKE HE ENJOYED HIS WORK. THE FOOD IN RESTAURANT AND THE BAR WAS VERY GOOD

Review 96:Had no complaints on any level.

Review 97:Liked Everything!! Beautiful comfortable rooms, amazing food, top class friendly service, all round The Whitford is a really wonderful place to stay!

Review 98:We received a cheerful welcome and staff were friendly and very efficient. Our room was very comfortable and facilities good. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice to suit everyone. We would recommend.

Review 99:The friendly staff who were so helpful at all times. The rooms were immaculate & very comfortable. We really enjoyed all our meals in the Whitford-from breakfast to dinner, all were excellent.

Review 100:A warm welcome and a good room, the bar food was also good. Plenty of car parking and an excellent pool, free of charge. A little out of town, but still in a convenient position., especially if coming from the ferry.

Review 101:INothing at all

Review 102:I booked this hotel as our last stopover before our return Ferry crossing ,20 mins from ferry port,we were not dissapointed, the food was excellent our rooms were a good size and spotless,10 min drive into Wexford

Review 103:The initial reception could have been a little friendlier.

Review 104:Spacious and well appointed rooms. Cleanliness. Beautiful dining room. Excellent breakfast with attentive staff.

Review 105:restaurant was not open during our stay and the bar food that I received was not fresh it was reheated butt the breakfast was lovely so I would certainly give it another try.

Review 106:lovely hotel and staff are very helpful.

Review 107:Food all fried no healthy options on menue

Review 108:Lovely hotel think the TV needs to be sorted keeped loosing signal and changing channels all by its self ? Also would have liked healthier options in the restrant

Review 109:Maids were polish so me being foreigner, I understood some of their language and they were cursing alot! That put my mood right off after good breakfast when they were walking behind us cursing.

Review 110:Leisure facilities, rooms, beds. Haven't slept that good for a while now. Staff was really friendly.

Review 111:We had a lovely stay here from the moment we arrived the girl on reception who checked us in was ever so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us to the staff in the restaurant to the leisure centre staff definitely recommend this hotel

Review 112:Wi-if was poor, restaurant service was very slow

Review 113:Travelled with 2 children aged 8 and 2. Staff were incredibly helpful and attentive; they went beyond the call of duty. Family room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. Pool area designed with children in mind as was playground. Fantastic stay

Review 114:That we couldn't stay longer. Lol

Review 115:We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Whitford. We love this hotel. Decor is beautiful, homely and very tastefully done. The uniqueness of decor sets it apart from other hotels typical repetitive styles rand creates a homely classy feel. We were upgraded to lovely delux room with our own private patio and picnic table. Comfortable armchairs. Leisure centre very good. Garden area beautiful. Food as usual was top class and excellent value for money. All staff very helpful and professional. Breakfast experience also fab. Staff at breakfast excellent and really well dressed. Loved everything about our stay including the easy relaxed atmosphere. Oh yes and the lobby area at reception very comfortable.

Review 116:Room was a bit on the noisey side, We could hear people in their bathrooms above and beside our room. There was some traffic noise as well.

Review 117:Pretty much everything.

Review 118:We felt the stay was a little expensive, 138.00 for an overnight stay although we upgraded for an extra 12.00, check in is also very late.

Review 119:The staff were absolutely lovely, food was excellent

Review 120:Shower kept going from hot to cold but would regulate after a while. Breakfast ends very early for a weekend. No ATM in the hotel or tuck shop.

Review 121:The leisure centre is fab and the food in the hotel is amazing. The bed was very comfortable and it is quiet which is nice.

Review 122:No complaints at all

Review 123:The staff especially Samantha were so welcoming and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Going back in July again and bringing my elderly parents too.

Review 124:would like to have been able to open the window in the bathroom, also the wi-fi wasn't that great, very minor details which did not detract from our short but very enjoyable stay

Review 125:the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and the bar food was excellent, live music on Saturday night and super breakfast on Sunday morning - what's not to like!!

Review 126:Unfortunately we thought the restaurant had deteriorated somewhat. Admittedly when we were there last Monday the place was full and we had to wait an hour to be served the main course. When our food arrived it was a case of quantity not quality.

Review 127:Always a great stop off point for anyone heading to the ferry at Rosslare. You get a friendly welcome and the atmosphere is relaxed. You are only a short drive to wexford town.

Review 128:Proximity to a main road - hadn't realised beforehand - but nothing you can do about that I guess!

Review 129:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Size & comfort of the bed.

Review 130:Food could've been a bit better (had to send the corn cobs back twice) and it was a shame there was no breakfast included

Review 131:The staff were all fabulous! Esp the guys in the bar area! Fantastic pool & gym facilities Great spacious room with a little bed round the corner, perfect for our little one to sleep in, out of the light!
