Situated in the village of Milcombe, Horse & Groom Inn is a former 16th-century coaching house which is less than an hour’s drive to the heart of the Cotswold District. It features an old-fashioned bar area with a stone floor and log burner, and free parking is available on site.

Reviews for Horse & Groom Inn
Review 1:Wifi facilities could be improved , I couldn't get service in my room. This is not a big deal but, traveling for business, it makes the difference.
Review 2:friendly atmosphere, great food, clean room and friendly staff.
Review 3:It was all very good. We had 2 rooms, a huge double and a twin- the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and beautifully cooked. Really good, strong coffee too. We were made to feel very welcome. We didn't have a meal in the restaurant the night before as we had booked elsewhere as a larger group but we would like to dine in if we come to this part of the country again.
Review 4:Really nice village inn, made to feel very welcome , great food served with a smile and a comfy bed , a spotless room well worth a stay , thanks for a great weekend , regards Paul and Sharon
Review 5:We arrived at about 9.30pm from South Hampshire to attend a funeral in Banbury the following day. Although meal service had ended at 9.00pm sandwiches were provided.
Review 6:Great dinner and breakfast with real fresh local produce.Loved the vegetable barter system they have with local gardeners! Friendly welcoming staff who could not have been more helpful when we were stranded there for several hours. Very comfortable stay and would love to go back there.
Review 7:Excellent food and service. Staff seemed genuinely concerned with our welfare. A good range of drinks at the bar. A nice welcome from the owner on arrival.
Review 8:Quite noisy in the rooms as you could here what was being said in the bar!
Review 9:Staff very friendly.Food excellent certainly the home made burgers ,best I have tasted.
Review 10:Found the bed a bit small and and felt the room was big enough to take a king size. Tiny en-suite and no where to ;put sponge bag and toiletries. A shelf above the washbasin would be nice!
Review 11:Great pub and atmosphere. Good beers. Great food. Friendliness of staff without exception.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:The atmosphere of this establishment is fantastic you feel very much like one of the villagers. The evening meals were beautiful and very keenly priced.
Review 14:It was really an exceptional experience for me. Staffs really care the customer. I asked if I can eat kippers for breakfast when I booked, but forgot it. When I had a breakfast, I could get kippers! The place was nice and quiet, I could refresh myself in the middle of my biz trip.
Review 15:The hosts were very hospitable and couldn't do enough. It is an old place but the décor was very nice. Food very good apart from a risotto I had, very overdone, although the ragu with it was delicious.
Review 16:Room was absolutely fine for my one night stay. Good beer, food and wine. I had really good Tempura Prawns for starter which were spot on and pan fried Hake for main which was in a really tasty chorizo, butter bean and spinach sauce. Staff were really friendly and helpful - as I was setting off early before breakfast they provided me with a sausage and bacon butty.
Review 17:The only negative would be that there was no wifi in the rooms although it was free and available in the bar.
Review 18:The rooms were very clean and comfortable with everything you need from lovely toiletries to hair drier and TV. We stayed on two of the hottest days of the year but both rooms had fans which were a very welcome addition. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 19:Very friendly and helpful. We had an early start for Blenheim Triathlon on Sunday and they prepared breakfast early to help us. Also stored our daughters bike in shed
Review 20:I enjoyed how well I was looked after, nothing seemed a problem. I needed to get away early so they offered to book me a cab and make sure my breakfast was ready for me first thing.
Review 21:The room was lovely and clean with a nice bath. The bed was very comfortable. The bedroom was very quiet, we stayed 2 nights and never heard noise from the pub. The hosts are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The food at the pub is amazing and breakfast was good too. We are hoping to return soon.
Review 22:Very small shower room. Poor water pressure in shower. Unfortunately smoking shelter was right below bedroom so could not open the windows.
Review 23:Friendly staff. Clean room, nicely decorated with a small but very comfy bed. Not ideal if you are over 6ft. Beautiful location.
Review 24:Nothing at all
Review 25:From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel as if we were their only guests. The food and beer were excellent, including a hearty breakfast. We were reluctant to leave. Five star service all round and a credit to the trade
Review 26:Our room (3) was over the bar, so quite a lot of noise transmitted up through the floor. Went quiet before midnight, then very peaceful
Review 27:Friendly staff. Good food, in a bar with a "buzz". Comfortable clean smallish rooms. Good choice at breakfast
Review 28:creaky floors, but 17th century inn so shouldn't complain
Review 29:good clean room, nice view over the road from windows. friendly staff, cleaning lady etc |: good food, lovely BLT sandwich. didn't take main meal. nice to see the regulars from the village coming in for Saturday lunch

Review 32:The accomadation was lovely, owner was friendly. They rang in advance of our stay to see if we wanted to book a table as the restaurant was getting booked up. Food was excellent, I would highly recommend this place to stay
Review 33:Didn't like would be overstatement however a bit more light in room would be nice, and room over bar meant it was noisy until bar closed
Review 34:The staff and food were excellent
Review 35:We arrived at 9 am but despite the place being shut we were welcomed in and given coffees. Rooms were nice No 4 larger and more up to date than room 3 but room 3 had a large bathroom so as a group of four we were all very happy! Really have to mention the fabulous food all of us had great meals followed by a superb breakfast. Friendly bar and roaring fire couldn't ask for more really!

Review 43:a little bit further out from Banbury town centre than we expected but still glad we stayed at Horse and Groom.
Review 44:friendly welcome, lovely staff, good food, clean cosy room.
Review 45:Electric showers never seem to work well with me and this one was no exception.
Review 46:This is an old building don't expect large rooms and wide staircases but that is what it is all about the character of the building. Beds were comfortable. The food was excellent and could not be faulted , great breakfast, Annette is great and the beer good. Parking across the road was fine. This is a pub you should expect some noise until closing time (but even then it was not much).
Review 47:There was nothing I disliked.
Review 48:From the moment I was welcomed, to the moment I left, I was given great personal attention. Nothing was too much trouble and even though I needed meals outside the set times, I was accommodated on all occasions. The staff were really pleasant, hardworking, the food was excellent and my accommodation was immaculate and comfortable. I could not recommend them highly enough.
Review 49:Nit picking: warm evening so ate outside, unfortunately several smokers chose to not use the smoking area, prefering to share their foul habit with the rest of the clientele.
