Reviews for Ashlea Guest House

Review 1:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room and really comfortable bed. Had to leave before breakfast service, but was supplied with a good takeaway.

Review 2:I thought it was quite expensive for what you get. I would have priced it at £50-60 per night instead of £72.

Review 3:The room was clean and comfortable, with good facilities. Staff were friendly.

Review 4:The breakfast time is too early. During the week is from 7-8:15 and during the weekend is from 8-9. Considering that most of the people coming here are in holiday, I think that this schedule is way too early. For us it was very hard to weak up so early to be in time for breakfast by 8:15. Most of the places where we have been traveling before have breakfast at least until 9 or 10. Also, the check out time was until 10. Again, too early. This should be 12.

Review 5:Room was big, clean and comfortable. We didn't have problem with parking and all the time we found a free spot. While we were there they changed the tv with a bigger one which was much better.

Review 6:The only potentially awkward thing is driving out across a traffic light controlled junction, but all is well if you go at the right part of the light sequence.

Review 7:Friendly welcome, and good advice on where to eat late in the evening.

Review 8:Only down side in our opinion was the lack of privacy relating to the sliding toilet door.....would like to know if all rooms have the same? Also beyond Hosts control really, being woken by other guests after midnight on both nights, however not the end of the world.

Review 9:The Guest House was in a good location. Owners & other breakfast lady were very helpful & friendly too. Room was clean & bed comfortable.

Review 10:Not a bad experience but I do like to have fried bread with my breakfast. Drives my wife up the wall!

Review 11:It was convenient to where I had to be and very good for going into centre of Banbury. Liked the fact that I knew where to find the key if the owners were out when I arrived.

Review 12:None

Review 13:My sister and I shared a twin room and both found our beds to be so comfortable. Everywhere was immaculate. Also liked being able to park the car within the grounds and the separate entrance to our room.

Review 14:The walls are very thin and the neighbours had the TV on fairly loud at night when I was trying to sleep.

Review 15:Nice, smart, clean rooms with a friendly service. Easy to walk into town, or to get to a supermarket. Cheaper than a hotel and you get more for your money. I've stayed here twice now and would recommend it.

Review 16:Very hot night and no fan in room, very stuffy. My boyfriend had breakfast, i had toast. His breakfast didnt look too appetising at all though, glad i stuck with toast which was okay! We stayed in the annex and upstairs had a creaky floor board or something which was very loud! Also, could hear the guy upstairs snoring his head off! Not what you want after a long journey!

Review 17:I liked the room, bed and decor very nice. Very clean. Staff very friendly and willing to help.

Review 18:Rather small rooms in annexe ,woken at 2am by noisy gravel drive when people returning

Review 19:close proximity to Banbury centre, very pleasant owners, parking to rear of property.

Review 20:We were in a downstairs room and the floorboards upstairs were really creaky so we were woken up before 8am by the other guests (it was a Sunday morning and we had got in quite late from a wedding and our breakfast wasn't until 9.15am)

Review 21:The staff were friendly, the room was clean, the breakfast was nice

Review 22:Absolutely nothing to dislike.

Review 23:From the moment we arrived the staff were really good, the Guest House is very well presented and very clean. It is a 10 minute walk into the town. We would recommend the Ashlea most definitely.

Review 24:The sliding door for the bathroom didn't provide much privacy. The blind in the room didn't shut out the light at all....we were awake from the time the sun came up as it was so bright :-(

Review 25:The staff were lovely and helpful

Review 26:Took a few minutes to get the shower to the right temperature. I couldn't get the blinds fully down and there were no curtains, the room too bright early morning. Ear plugs required if you are not used to traffic noise I did expect this although it wasn't too much of a problem I've stayed at a lot worse places. Could do with breakfast being a bit later at the weekends. Check out was also a bit early at 10am. These are minor issues which would not stop me using this guest house again. I would recommend it.

Review 27:Comfortable beds and good breakfast. A fan was provided for warm weather The room was very clean. Plenty of parking spaces off road if driving.

Review 28:TV could have been bigger. Not used to sharing a bathroom but it was clean and clearly advertised as such when I booked.

Review 29:Owners, breakfast, location, felt at home, internet

Review 30:Had requested triple room (3 ladies) but advised that room with double bed and single bed not suitable for 3 adults. Had double room and room with double plus single bed allocated on arrival (which would have accommodated the 3 of us) so rather surprised we couldn't have used just the one room.

Review 31:Excellent - friendly and helpful staff - no complaints. Great choices from breakfast menu.

Review 32:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 33:The house is easy to find, the facilities where great. The owners where so helpful with local information about restaurants, supermarkets etc. They supplied us with a map of the area. The breakfast was excellent and they supplied everything you wanted. Would stay again if going to that area.

Review 34:Ashlea Guest House provides very clean, comfortable, light and airy accommodation in a pleasant environment. The owners were very polite, welcoming and informative about their provision and the local area.

Review 35:- The weather was cold and rainy during one of the six days I was in England. (Just kidding -- there was nothing for me to complain about regading Ashlea Guesthouse.)

Review 36:+Friendly and attentive owners made me feel welcome; + Clean and comfortable rooms; + Best price for value received; + Hot breakfast made with local ingredients; + Plenty of parking; + Free wifi

Review 37:We where in the annex. The walls where thin so we heard next door talking. WiFi was poor here. Only 1.5mb, so Iplayer and Skype didn't work well. Ensuite small and fan noise went on for 15 mins after light was turned off.. View of wall only out of window.

Review 38:Hosts very nice people. Made us welcome. Breakfast was good and included two eggs. Ok for one night but would not want to stay any longer.

Review 39:The location. The welcome. The cleanliness, neatness & overall immaculate appearance. The room was very godd & comfortable - warm. Good breakfast

Review 40:none

Review 41:First class service. Room spotlessly clean, comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast promptly served set one up for the day. Parking space a bonus. We shall return.

Review 42:What's to complain about? Julie and Ayman take great care of me whenever I stay with them.

Review 43:+Friendly staff who takes good care of me. + Excellent hot breakfast in the morning. (Try the sausage which they get from a local source.) +Comfortable bed, comfortable room.

Review 44:Room a little small for anyone staying longer than a couple of nights

Review 45:Very comfortable bed Excellent breakfast Very helpful host, he told us a lot of useful local information(where to eat dinner, where to visit etc) Plenty of private secure parking space Good value accommodation for the price

Review 46:Breakfast table was rather small. The waitress had to use the window sill. Bathroom was very clean but a little cramped.

Review 47:Having our own outer door key to the self contained room. The room was very clean. All the procedures for breakfast etc. were clearly relayed to us.

Review 48:The room was quite small. Bathroom qas extremely small with a mini sink and a mini shower.

Review 49:The WI-FI signal was very good. Warm and welcoming personal. Posibility to choose a special breakfast(for diet depending guests I guess) Parking, seemed secure.

Review 50:The entry/exit to this venue is on a difficult T Junction with Traffic Lights offering motorists a range of options - residents need to be aware that access coming up the hill if they are coming that way necessitates a left turn towards Oxford and a turn around where safe so that the entry can be accessed on the left ... Don't be out off by this as it becomes self evident ...

Review 51:Where do I start ? Staff/Welcome Breakfast Sleep quality / Room Quality safe parking Location

Review 52:Everything was good. If I was to be picky, I'd prefer a warmer duvet for the cool August night :)

Review 53:Everything was spotless clean, well kept and had a nice home-like feel. The owners were attentive and we felt valued guests (though only arriving late and staying for 1 night). The breakfast was good and a big portion as well.

Review 54:We were welcomed by both Julie & Ayman on our arrival and asked our preferred time for breakfast (including any special food requirements). After registering, Ayman showed us to our room and took time to explain how the shower etc. worked. Our room was clean and well decorated and we had everything we needed for a good nights sleep. The guest house is a 10 min stroll down the hill to Banbury Cross where there's plenty of restaurants etc. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice of hot and cold food, all cooked to order. All in all we'd have no hesitation in recommending Ashlea Guest House.
