Reviews for The Chadwick Hotel
Review 1:A peculiar hotel (2 buildings knocked together making many narrow staircases - not good for anyone with mobility problems), tired decor, hard bed and bedding that didn't provide enough cover if either of us turned over. Wouldn't choose to stay again.
Review 2:Breakfast staff were friendly
Review 3:The weather, though you couldn't help that. A squeaky fire door outside our room that needed oiling. No towels in the pool had to take the ones from the room though the guest information said that towels would be available at the changing rooms
Review 4:The staff were freindly, food was served promptly. The leisure pool was inviting.
Review 5:Shower attached to wall, therefore could not wash hair without having a full shower. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. View was the wall opposite.
Review 6:Somewhere where kids could go, meet up and play. Option to use pool & gym. The option to "eat in" on an evening.
Review 7:Fairly narrow corridors and steep stairs
Review 8:Friendly staff, nice wee swimming pool and reasonable size of family room. Breakfast was fine as was the bar menu.
Review 9:our room was next to the ladies toilets so we were disturbed a lot by the hand dryer which was on our adjoining wall.
Review 10:Breakfast was amazing. Really liked the pool. Nice staff. Good location.
Review 11:Unfortunately, during our visit, the Turkish steam room was out of order.
Review 12:Good location, easy parking, very good food Blackpool and the other local towns.and choices of menu. Convenient for
Review 13:We would have preferred the changing rooms to have cubicles with doors on.
Review 14:The pool was warm and not many people in it we were there with two grandchildren it suited us just fine
Review 15:Bar food could have been better, lack of presentation. The restaurant should open earlier than 18-30 to allow families to eat who have young children and those who are going out.
Review 16:Location was good, clean and friendly staff.
Review 17:Booked for elderly parents .... We asked for a quiet room, we got room 4 above the band. When we complained we were disregarded, fobbed off by a gentleman at reception. I called a few days later to be told that we could have been moved and all the training the staff have, it was a real surprise we weren't taken care off. After the event empty apology, discount if we stayed again. Poor, poor and poor. A 3 day break turned into a 2 night nightmare. To the management is like to say we are very disappointed.
Review 18:Leaving early !
Review 19:Mould on ceiling in bathroom! One light bulb out and one very dim in bedroom & one window catch broken. Top of taps in hand basin fell off when tap turned on & plug chain broken.
Review 20:Daily change of menu. Friendly staff.
Review 21:I was obviously situated above the kitchen as I was woken at 5.30 am each morning by noisy pots and pans and loud talking from below.
Review 22:The location ,the views and the breakfast.
Review 23:the staff were very friendly ,helpful and made us feel very welcome .we stayed over with our grand daughter who is nearly 3 and they couldnt do enough for us.would definately go back.
Review 24:We had a very poor bed we could not sleep on so had to use a single bed. Howevere they knocked £20 of the bill, but still I would rather have a new bed. The beds looked very old and dated
Review 25:Staff and breakfast
Review 26:The breakfast room has extremely bright lights, which for me, is not nice in the morning.
Review 27:It's a really nice hotel in St Annes, overlooking the beach and close to the town center. Went for an event in Blackpool, but stayed at the Chadwick. Stayed here before, and will stay again.
Review 28:Lovely bedroom but very noisy all night droning noise bought ear plugs next day, we would stay again but not in that room. Facing brick wall.
Review 29:Lovely seating areas downstairs with lovely views
Review 30:We had room 52 which was very poor standard. The bathroom was very untidy and it really needs an upgrade
Review 31:Location was good with superb breakfast Entertainment provided was very good.
Review 32:Very over priced! The room hadn't been updated since the 80s and as a family room it didn't serve it's purpose. There was a problem with the water (which couldn't be helped) but we didn't know until we got there, it should have stated on the website as we only booked 2 days earlier, and couldn't use the pool, which is one of the reasons we booked this hotel. All the extras we paid for were good, evening meal and drinks. When asked if everything was ok, we told our issues just to be told the renovations hadn't got to that room yet! Overall = poor
Review 33:On entry the reception and general seating area were nice, clean and modern, so I had high hopes.... check in was simple and were helped with our bags to the room. We ate early evening, the food was lovely and so were the staff Breakfast the following morning was lovely and fresh, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 34:Could do with sprucing up the vegetable selection in the restaurant, the food was ok but lacked imagination. I'm sure most people would like it but I like to be tantalised with something a little different.
Review 35:The staff were really helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the pool is a delight.
Review 36:The room we were allocated was at the far end of the Hotel, cut off from the main. Needed updating, especially the bathroom.
Review 37:The location of the Hotel and plenty of seating arrangements in the Lounge Area. The food was very good.
Review 38:Evening meal was poor with no choice of vegetables. Portions small. Fish over cooked and put under a heat lamp so was hard on top when it arrive to be eaten. Maderine Melba - a few bits of Maderine and one scoop of ice cream.
Review 39:Location.
Review 40:The bed is really really bad. If you have a back problem, you won't be able to stand on your feet next morning. Poor quality of mattress. Also the decoration is very old and outdated, could do with a little bit of refreshing.
Review 41:We couldn't access the WiFi but saying that it was nice just toput down the phones. And nothing to do with the staff think we had aguest that never checked out as bathroom light randomly turnedit's self on
Review 42:Staff we're very friendly, food was good and room although slightlydated was very clean and comfortable with everything you need.
Review 43:The room was very tired and dated (80's), so was our en suite. Desperate for a refurb.
Review 44:Really nice welcome and feel to the place. Sea front location with a sea view bedroom, we couldn't ask for more !
Review 45:The whole hotel is extremely old fashioned. The floors creaked constantly, walls are paper thin! When we arrived we were never informed of WiFi code, swimming pool code, times of breakfast, anything! The housekeepers were extremely loud each morning and had us awake from 7am and they entered our room even though we had the door locked as we did not want to be disturbed. Check out is 11 compared to 12 in every other hotel we have stayed in, we were late checking out due to the lack of sleep and the Housekeeper was extremely rude because of this. Over all we had a terrible sleep. The hotel also seems to be for older guests (as in 80+)! We had food outside as it was a beautiful day, one of the ladies with me ordered a curry with a poppadom, it blew off the plate in the wind and the server picked it up and placed it back on her plate, needless to say, she was less than impressed!
Review 46:The night porters were the only good part of our stay, extremely friendly men.
Review 47:Pool is nice but jacuzzi didnt work nor did the sauna light and the shower in the changing rooms wasnt very warm
Review 48:Staff excellent. Location good for both st annes on sea and lytham. Room clean. Breakfast excellent although we didnt have a couple of things on the table but was soon sorted by staff with apology too so good customer care.
Review 49:NONE
Review 50:GREAT STAFF,CLEANLINESS,COMFORTABLE BED,ALTHOUGH HEARD WIND/TRAFFIC THROUGH WINDOWS (ROOM 9),BREAKFAST, COULDN'T FAULT QUALITY OR SERVICE.
Review 51:No bad experiences. Our room was rather small,( I think this was reflected in the price). And the decor is rather tired.
Review 52:Staff were very friendly especially the bar staff. Free car parking.
Review 53:No hot shower in the changing rooms. Beds were made but not a lot of cleaning was done. Mirror dirty from day before and wine glasses not removed from the room. In the family room the kettle is in a very dangerous place. We boiled water for a drink and our 2 year old son pulled on the wire! Luckily my husband grabbed him out the way as the kettle fell to the floor resulting in my husband burning his hand.
Review 54:Very good value for money. Lovely, helpful staff.
Review 55:Some areas of the hotel a bit tired and in need of a facelift.
Review 56:Friendly family owned hotel, good facilities and location right on seafront with private parking. Liked swimming pool, rather small but clean and warm. Excellent breakfast and good bar menu at reasonable prices.
Review 57:lift did not stop on all levels. exposed wires on telephone junction boxes, poor signage to reception area. fire door wrong type on one floor . room numbers dishevelled. pool off limits for toddler group early mornings. restaurant late opening in evening
Review 58:location lounge
Review 59:The lift was very tiny and you could only get 1 case in at a time. The difference between prices when ordering meals/drinks in the bar.
Review 60:The location of the hotel and the facilities it offered young children.
Review 61:The staff were equally friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The room was clean and spacious and the swimming pool was lovely.
Review 62:There's nothing wrong with this place, but I wouldn't call it outstanding. The family room was a bit cramped, the shower was a bit weedy and the toast came out burnt and cold.
Review 63:Reasonably priced family room, nice location on sea front, friendly staff, small swimming pool and gym
Review 64:The only drawback was that I couldn't connect to the wifi in the room that I was in (room 91). I could connect to it in other parts of the hotel though and I'm sure that the staff would have helped if I had mentioned it.
Review 65:I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The room was really nice with lots of little extras including spa bath and air con which were both appreciated on the hottest day in July on record!
Review 66:We loved the pool and spa facilities! The rooms were a little dated in terms of decor, but they were clean and comfortable. The shower was nice and powerful. The maids were efficient and friendly. In fact, all of the staff were lovely! The breakfasts were delicious and Barbara made us feel at home as she served us. The beach was literally over the road, we were close to the pier, and also the shopping centre. We would definitely return and recommend this hotel.
Review 67:WiFi was a bit random.
Review 68:We enjoyed our stay very much. Good parking. Lovely room with a jacuzzi bath. Clean comfy bedding. Cozy hotel with a lovely pool.
Review 69:Our room (19) in the Outer Hebrides was very poor looked tired and desperately in need of refurbishment The shower was out of the arc and the cold water tap was lukewarm. We have stayed in many hotels of a similar price range but sadly the Chadwick left us dissapoint
Review 70:The staff were very friendly and reception/ba area was very nice.
Review 71:Room was okay, shower hadn't been properly cleaned. Hotel very very dated, wifi couldn't be picked up, breakfast was cheap and unpleasant. Staff generally uninterested in their work and overheard them on more than one occasion being rude and complaining about guests. Definitely not worth the money spent and could not wait to leave in the morning.
Review 72:Nothing
Review 73:We have a 5 year old son the play room with the soft play area and pool table is brilliant. The swimming pool was warm and lovely and clean, and not forgetting all the staff were lovely.
Review 74:The evening meal there was very little choice and just not great at all.
Review 75:The breakfast was very very good, the room was a good size and the leisure facilities were a added bonus
Review 76:Toilet position of grab handle. Not usable and msked using toilet very uncomfortable. Needs to come forward between toilet roll holder and tissue box holder.
Review 77:Breakfast and sea front positon
Review 78:The rooms are a little tired, could do with a re vamp
Review 79:Fab swimming pool, great for young children and lovely temperature. complimentary tea and coffee was a lovely touch, beautiful views and good location. The prices were reasonable too which was a nice change.
Review 80:Unfortunatly the evenigs entertainment wasn't mentioned when we booked. It meant that we couldn't use the restaurant.( Bar meal ok though.) Our room was directly above entertainment. Very noisy!!!
Review 81:Very friendly staff. Everything done with a smile.
Review 82:The bedrooms need updating but the bed was comfy and the room very clean.
Review 83:The staff were very friendly, loved the pool and jacuzzi. We had dinner there which was lovely, and the breakfast was also very good. The staff can't do enough for you.
Review 84:We prefer duvets to sheet and blankets. We prefer mugs for tea tray in room not cups. We prefer buffet breakfast to waiter service.
Review 85:Location near sea. Swimming pool Big lounge with piano Lovely birthday lunch. Staff member Adam- a star.
Review 86:I would definately go back again but only if I could book the room we had, it made my holiday. Some other rooms appeared quite small.Having read reviews before I booked I agree that refurbishment is required in some areas but the areas that have been given a facelift are really very nice.
Review 87:Having paid extra for a seaview( £10 per night) we were given a lovely room plenty of living space ,bathroom a tad small but coped ok. The view was lovely had some great sunsets. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The pool , saunas and jacuzzi were a bonus although I do wonder how it would be at the height of summer when more people would be in there, might be a bit of a squeeze.
Review 88:Nothing to note
Review 89:We liked the location. The hotel was clean and the staff were very nice. The pool was amazing and the kiddies play area was a nice touch.
Review 90:The bed appeared to be on a downhill slant - so the bedding fell off the bottom of the bed in the night. Time to update to duvets?
Review 91:Very friendly staff Great breakfast Pool was small but adequate
Review 92:The hotel is tired and needs lots of updating ie decor. We refused the first room offeredd to us - dark and dingy. The second room was better but only marginally. Although the evening dinner food was acceptable we considered the price rather high for what was really only simple fare.
Review 93:Access to upper floors for guests with mobility problems. Lift wouldn't take wheelchair open and then stairs all floors.
Review 94:Superb staff couldn't fault them so helpful. Beautiful food and good choice. Nothing to much trouble. Room excellent for 2 adults and 2 children. Another time we would book earlier and get ground floor room for easy access.
Review 95:We had no hot water on the Saturday night. Reported to reception and was told there was a problem with the boiler. High dusting in the room needed attention.
Review 96:The food was lovely. Plenty of choice and good service.
Review 97:The first room I was in had no heating in the bathroom. I was moved without any hassle to another room but then the TV did not work. The decor is worn and old fashioned. The hotel needs serious money spending on it. The restaurant menu was fine if you were 70 like most of the guests! Not worth the money.
Review 98:Wifi, so I could actually watch streamed TV.
Review 99:Advertising deals that were not available Rooms that need maintenance A computer system that works 100% instead of charging you double for bar purchases Needs a lot of tender loving care/updateing to 21st century
Review 100:Not a lot, rooms were clean , 2 of the staff were 100%
Review 101:Place is well passed it best, but I could live with that, however, at 2:30 am a buzzing noise occurred in the room (~70dB) and carried on until morning, making sleep impossible! When this was discussed with the morning staff (@8am), they apologized and said that no charge would be made for the room (reasonable), then 1 week later they took £20 on the credit card number they had kept!
Review 102:Only the location...
Review 103:Airlock in the system that rattled the whole room and woke us up with loud thudding noise every time anyone used the loo in the night
Review 104:Great fresh breakfast and friendly staff.
Review 105:The room was a little dated. Had no duvet which prefer to sheets and blanket. The shower didn't work properly as cudnt get no cold water so was to hot to shower so had to run a bath then use a pint glass and use sink cold water to cool down.. Got woke up really early with next rooms tele absolutely blaring which woke my one year old so that's was it from 4ish after not going bed till.after midnight breakfast was lovely and yes wud stay again if little things was upgraded thanks
Review 106:Had a good night new years eve entertainment was fab and my little lad had a ball..
Review 107:Room was a bit out dated but suited out purpose as we were only there Over nite
Review 108:We ate out locally at nite great restaurant and was greatly surprised with the entertainment that was on at nite. It was a superb act and will keep it in mind for future reference as they had a variety of acts on throughout the year. Breakfast was lovely
Review 109:very weird mixer taps over bath. One tap filled the bath , the other operated the shower, temperature regulated by a thermostat in the middle. Hard to get a hot bath.
Review 110:Complete waiter service. (No buffet bar) at breakfast. Proper drawers and wardrobes for you to unpack properly. Very friendly & efficient staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Review 111:The dinner menu
Review 112:The facilities, the room we were given was a Sea View and it was excellent. Coffee making facilities, TV and the view were very good and the comfort of the beds was excellent. The pool was very good and warm.
Review 113:Offering of 5 courses is a little over the top.Too big a gap from Bar food to Restaurant.Usually now Hotels offer 1 or 2 courses in Restaurant, but noticed dealing with older couples not Business travellers.Found offering old fastioned, needs upgrading.
Review 114:Very dated bedrooms, only one power socket in total, so if you were watching TV you could nt power your phone, I pad etc! Towels were hard and grey! We won't be back!
Review 115:Nothing we didnt like, its a good, value for money Hotel and we will be staying again.
Review 116:We have stayed at The Chadwick before, its very clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast, staff very helpful, good pool and ideally placed for other attractions.Good bus service from village, thereby avoiding parking in Blackpool. Bus/tram all day ticket is a good deal.
Review 117:Room 96 (family room) was very noisy during the night. Sounded like there is a boiler or air con unit in the loft..(not the best nights sleep)!!!!
Review 118:Clean with good location. Breakfast was excellent with very attentive staff.
Review 119:The shower in my room (48) was difficult to access for someone with mobility problems as the bath was high and narrow so water flooded the floor and the horrible shower curtain clung to the body during the shower which is not pleasant. Some up grading of facilities is required there. While the bed was adequate it was too soft to allow for a really good sleep. Access to the pool was very poor indeed and impossible for anyone with serious mobility problems - two flights of stairs from the ground floor is unacceptable these days without a lift and should be flagged up at the time of booking. I was only able to use it on the first day because the stairs up to it and down from it are slippery and have to be done barefoot. I didn't feel safe but the use of the pool was one of the reasons I chose the hotel so that was a disappointment.
Review 120:The staff were helpful and very friendly. The hotel was well laid out.
Review 121:poor shower in the room. water pressure very poor,so bath had to be run each time something for the hotel to improve on in that room,.
Review 122:staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you
Review 123:It's all a bit worn out and in need of a refurb ...creaky floorboars, cupboard doors that don't close, etc. A bit pricey for what you can get elsewhere, especially the food (set dinner menu uninspiring, however full English breakfast great)
Review 124:Friendly staff, great location, nice sauna & pool
Review 125:Hotel's facilities are excellent. I booked predominantly for the pool and steam rooms, but gym is also fairly well equipped and there is a play rom with ball room and a pool table for children. Rooms are a little tired, but comfortable and clean. Great family hotel.
Review 126:Despite putting a special request when booking about the need for a certain type of room I was initially given a room overlooking a flat roof and a wall approx. 6 foot away from the window. As I approached the room on the stairs and landing I could feel vibrations and a loud humming noise which could be heard in the room. I asked for a different room but the 2nd room was the same although in a different part of the hotel. The 3rd room I was given was brilliant. I assume the humming noise and vibrations were from extractor/air conditioning fans/units and having experienced this problem at a Holiday Inn in Leeds two weeks ago I knew that it would affect my stay as it did there where they could not offer me another room unlike The Chadwick.. Top marks to the receptionist who had to deal with the problem for me.
Review 127:The room I eventually stayed in was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good with a good choice of food etc. Staff were very polite and helpful and although I did not use the pool this time it looked inviting. I would stay there again providing I was reassured about the type and position of the room before I arrived. I was also upgraded from a single to a double with no extra costs which was a pleasant surprise.
Review 128:Having complained about my original room, I was given a choice of two others. All three were dark, dingy with no sunlight or air. I could only sleep because of the (very noisy!) ceiling fan. The bar and lounge were closed for redecoration but i was not told this when I booked. Very limited and tight off road parking.
Review 129:Decent breakfast portions
Review 130:No reduction in cost due to refurbishment. The room; 2 out of 3 soap dispensers were missing. No blind at bathroom window. Nasty kettle in bedroom. Hair-dryer did not work. Stair-carpet worn in corridors, paintwork poor in need of repair. Lift smelled unpleasant. Swimming pool locked. No towels available. Filter not turned on in pool. Jacuzzi not working. Pieces of floor missing, floor in changing rooms dirty. Temporary bar in dining room limited stock. Carpet not cleaned in the evening as food debris was very evident in the morning. New furniture in lounge uncomfortable. Colour scheme poor.Sauce bottle at breakfast was in a mess around the top, not clean! Tomatoes at breakfast always have the stalk in and usually cold.
Review 131:The food
Review 132:Dining room welcoming and very nice decor. Sea view lounge areas very comfortable and relaxing. Location very good for buses, proximity to St.Anne's Pier and access to Blackpool tram. Service generally very efficient and pleasant. Reception helpful.
Review 133:unable to connect to free wi fi.
Review 134:Easy booking in at reception , staff very helpful and polite.Pool and sauna etc a wellcome bonus.Hotel is perfectly located for easy access to promenade walkway , beach and sea.Limited parking available on site but on road parking outside hotel ok.
Review 135:didnt like having to leave
Review 136:location, fascilities, staff, comfortable room, fully equipped room very clean great nights sleep. pool and sauna great great parking breakfast was great service brilliant great dining room classy decoration
Review 137:The bedroom was in need of an urgent refurb with tired & outdated furnishings. Small window looking @ a brick wall. The breakfast was disappointing & there was no full fat milk available for my small granddaughter, just skimmed or semi-skimmed. Will not return or advise others to stay!
Review 138:The staff are pleasant & polite & the location of the hotel is good.
Review 139:The bedrooms are in desperate need of upgrading. The Headboard on our bed was loose and flapping about making an awful noise and would have disturbed our sleep, although in fairness when we informed reception they did exchange it for another very quickly. Also some of the sockets in our room did not work leading us to believe the television was at fault again we had reception to come up and they plugged into another socket but this meant the cable was a tripping hazard so the housekeeper kept putting the cable back into the none working socket which was a bit annoying as she should have been informed We were not informed of the on going works being carried out. Especially the roof works which meant the rooms were not very private during the day. During the week towels were suddenly withdrawn from the leisure facilities with no explanation or notification which was very inconvenient as visitors were told not to take room towels to the pool, and we did not bring any swim towels as they were supposed to be provided in the leisure facility.
Review 140:The staff are very friendly even though the hotel is undergoing some upgrading. The upgraded lounge is now completed and is tastefully decorated very nice and relaxing with views over the sea . The food in the restaurant is very nice and well presented and represents good value for money. Also there is a bar service with reasonably priced meals and snacks that are served all day. The location of the hotel is very conveniently placed close to all amenities and a pleasant shopping area nearby. The hotel is near to public transport. Inside the hotel is a pleasant leisure centre comprising of pool ,gym and steam room. also there is an area for the kids with WI fit console and pool table. There is also wi-fi connection in the hotel This is our third visit to this hotel and we will certainly be back.
