Reviews for Adriatiq Resort Fontana
Review 1:Really run down hotel and poor value for money. Pool is tiny and went to try and get a massage but they were shut on Sat PM. Staff weren't friendly and food was pretty poor.
Review 2:I needed a hotel in the area to catch the early morning ferry to Bol so location was good
Review 3:Considering that we were only staying in the resort one night we opted for the standard room. Unfortunately the photographs supplied in the brochure and on booking.com did not match reality. The room was incredibly dated, the furniture was rusting and we were incredibly disappointed with our booking.
Review 4:The room was clean, the views were lovely and the location was good for getting a ferry over to Bol.
Review 5:Room without air conditioning, lots of maintenance needed in the room, old furniture, old bed and not comfortable, breakfast and dinner not good,
Review 6:Great Location, amazing view
Review 7:Old-fashioned and not renovated for a long time Swimming pools looks great only on the picture - it's really small!
Review 8:Helpful staff Close to Jelsa old town Big appartment with a lot of space
Review 9:No air conditioning, breakfast very bad, fitness room dirty and most of machines out of service. The swimming pool is very small and the water in the swimming pool was a little bit dirty almost every day...
Review 10:Well placed in a central aera of Hvar island. View from the hotel is very nice. Diner was good every day in the hotel contrary to that we saw on some web's comments.
Review 11:Resort needs to have some work done as it is a little old fashion. But from the pool area to the resort itself, not just the rooms.
Review 12:Room clean! Close to the village in walking distance.
Review 13:Restaurant only had pizza - despite a full menu. Buildings looked like a prison block, All needed painting and needed to be refurbished. Swimming pool small and salt water. DIfficult to get into the sea as very rocky and slippery
Review 14:This accommodation is in a prime location - if it were knocked down and started all over again then it would be a 5 star resort. However the buildings are not well maintained. Location, perfect for a relaxed holiday, lots of stairs so not for the elderly or those who would struggle/ A short walk into the village of Jelsa (lovely).
Review 15:The pictures on the booking website are not representative of the place itself, it is similar to something like butlins in the UK. The breakfast was extremely poor, not worth the money at all. No yogurt, no tea, no pastries, only one fruit option and warm milk for cereal, also no toaster. The pool does not look like the picture at all and is very small.
Review 16:Location...nice walk into Jelsa. Right on the beach. Jelsa is a lovely place to visit. Very relaxed and good restaurants in town. The room was basic but fine.
Review 17:Unfortunately no air condition, and the fan didn't work properly. They changed the fan, but the replacement fan also didn't function properly, and the last night it didn't work at all. Asked for a new, but they didn't have any spare fans, so we didn't sleep at all the last night.
Review 18:Very nice location. Small, but clean room with good beds. All in all, good value!
Review 19:Stink in the closet. Creaking bed.Towels changed only every three days. Toilet paper not supplemented... up to my urgence on the reception. No vegetables for breakfast and monotonous breakfast.
Review 20:very beautiful surroundings. food good and tasty.
Review 21:The room should be more clean, dirty air ventilator difficult to use as it's make it useless...If u pay money for supper it's normal to have drink for free-no drink for free for supper.
Review 22:the commodities (once the pictures are very decivieng), the staff isn't very friendly, it mighy get noisy at night (many groups and families biking and drinking at night)
Review 23:sightseing
Review 24:Paid internet logged off every few minutes; broken fans, broken phones, broken showers, no handrails or lights on the uneven steps; had to go up and down hundreds of steps daily to access meals, pool, beach, car, office, etc. Unripe fruit at meals and watered down yogurt. Lots and lots of bread.
Review 25:They had one employee who was outstanding; without Ivan's help, I would have had to leave because of the properties inadequacies. The luxury rooms might be better, but I had to take a downgrade from a comfort to a basic room to try to get an internet connection' and it still wasn't good and they charged me anyway.
Review 26:The rooms were dirty, doors were broken, no line to contact reception. Towels were not changed. All in all the rooms we occupied were a far cry from that which was on the website.
Review 27:Nothing. It was a total let down compared to what we saw on the website
Review 28:Staff were really unhelpful, when we asked if we could have help up the large amount of steps with our bag the guy behind reception said no as there would only be him behind reception desk. So after lugging a very heavy suitcase up a lot of steps to the reception and on my way seeing two women having their bags being taking up in a little cart by a maintenance man, I got to the reception to find 4 people behind the desk, who all proceeded to ignore me when I asked where to put my bag. Rooms were ok but no aircon, it was very outdated, felt like i was in the holiday camp from dirty dancing.
Review 29:Good location, right next to the beach and only a really short walk into the lovely town of Jelsa.
Review 30:I was disappointed with the amount of silly little things that should have been sorted by maintenance. For example there was lots of toilet seats that were broken which was pretty gross. Our room was a good size but again the fan that was supplied was clunky and noisey, plus there was stains and holes in our bed sheets. Again small and silly things that overlook attention to detail. This was a heavy family environment and as a young couple we were overlooked by the resorts target entertainment audience as this was very overpowering, but never-mind.
Review 31:The location was great and the views are amazing. Cocktails were amazing.
Review 32:The loud tour boat, which arrived almost every morning at 10, with load music and a tour guide singing "Happy Birthday"
Review 33:The closeness to the sea, the dining facilities, our spacious apartment
Review 34:The hotel should is old and should be renovatited
Review 35:The hotel is very well situated. Jelsa is probably the most charming city on island Hvar and also the nature in the area is simply beautiful.
Review 36:very angry and surprised to learn need to pay for the internet!!!! small village such as Verbanja even has free internet for all village.
Review 37:room and surrounding complex is nice, have great view of the town and sea, good to have shult service to ferry port with fare price. Stuff are ok
Review 38:we pretended to have essential things, like a kettle, toaster, good oven a kitchen more useful and much much more CLEAN. the bath also needs to be changed, it was scratched and the water pipe cover broken!!!!!
Review 39:we liked most the beaches, friendly people met there. we were situated very near to the beach.
Review 40:it is to improve the parking of the autos because of the main road is not so large to consent a normal parking: it is much more functional to park "fishbone" / diagonally. Moreover it is necessary to improve the skill of yours machines reading credit cards .
Review 41:-maximum freedom; - excellent services; - very good prices;
Review 42:Poor WiFi connection and not included in the price. Small pool for children not very clean.
Review 43:Great comfort and high standard apartment, well equipped kitchen for self catering.
Review 44:Taxis in Jelsa didn't want to take us to the hotel so we walked around the coast. This was ok but then we were at bottom of Complex and Reception is up the top - 200 steps?? For UK visitors the hotel should be regarded as a short stop.
Review 45:Location - walkable from Jelsa - a nice little town/harbour. We stayed I Jelsa as we wanted to get across to Bo on Brac. We caught a daytrip boat at 9:30 rather than the 6am ferry; cost a bit more but lovely sail. The receptionist at Adriatiq helped move our suitcases up the main steps to apartment. Staff all very friendly and helpful
Review 46:Hard to get to the reception with the bags and a stroller since it is very steep and many stairs. Depending on where your apartment is, it is either hard or nearly impossible to get in and out with stroller.
Review 47:Nice pool area and good location with walking distance to the harbour. Great yoga. Would have been nice with a small supermarket in the area.
Review 48:Difficult to collect the key Not enough advices & explanations from the reception: about hot water and breakfast time, bed very hard .... Do not deserve the appellation Resort
Review 49:Great view from the studio
Review 50:Very old apartments, parking is 100 m ,so You have to climb by stairs, wi-fi is not free
Review 51:Very nice location, sea view, swimming pool, animation, near centar of Jelsa -few minutes
Review 52:Very run down hotel with no investments in 30-40 years, bad management and reception service, bad pool & bar area etc. We left this hotel one day earlier than planned, we were happy to go somewhere else. We can not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 53:The only thing that was acceptabal with this hotel was the cleaning service.
Review 54:Expensive for what it is, no worth the money. We could have stayed somewhere a lot nicer and cheaper
Review 55:Conditions, insects in a room, cleanliness. Poor wifi.
Review 56:Location next to the beach.
Review 57:Old suit. poorly equiped kitchen.
Review 58:View from the suit. The personel is nice and friendly. Big terace.
Review 59:nothing
Review 60:great location, friendly staff
Review 61:The food and the staff
Review 62:The view
Review 63:Very nice flat with all utilities. We got all informations we needed at the time or any other service. A good place to stay!
Review 64:Everything!!! They need to renovate the place. The pictures are not representative.
Review 65:Nothing
Review 66:Food was inedible Taxi to stari grad was not licenced and cramped
Review 67:Properties are fairly dated.
Review 68:Quiet location, pine trees all around the resort
Review 69:The hotel does not at all depict the "pretty picture" as on it's website, it's a complete ripp off!
Review 70:This place was a disappointment from start to finish. Firstly, we contacted the resort the day before for directions and they told us when we got off the Catamaran to turn left and walk by the sea. We did that but arrived at the Hotel Hvar Atlantique who we're not at all helpful only to tell us that we should have went in the opposite direction. So we had to go back in to the centre and go in the opposite direction and after a 15 min walk arrived at Fontana. All we saw were lots of steps and apartments but no directions to Reception. We walked up about 150 steps with still no signs for Reception. So my partner stayed with the bags and I continued to walk another 150 steps and eventually found Reception right at the top! When I told the receptionist about the directions saying go left and not right and about no signage for Reception she just laughed. Luckily our apartment was close to where my partner remained with the bags. The apartment was very dated and was ok but not up to the quality of other places we had stayed on our trip. We were so tired that we decided to eat at the resort restaurant. It was a set price of 10 euro and was a buffet. This food was dreadful - inedible really. We did not use the pool but it looked very small. We left as quickly as we could the following morning delighted that we had only booked 1 night. Jelsa seemed like a nice place but I am afraid our stay at Resort Fontana ruined it for us. We may return to Jelsa at some point but will not return to Resort Fontana.
Review 71:I guess if it wasn't for the for our dreadful experience with Resort Fontana itself the location by the sea is nice.
Review 72:Ants in the apartment, apartment was shabby, Wi-Fi was really poor and had to pay for it.
Review 73:Location, very friendly staff, especially at the pool. Silence (pre-season, not much tourists there)
Review 74:Nothing... apart from the healthy walk up the hill to apartment and reception- and the short lived worry on arrival from the seashore road that the place wasn't open.
Review 75:Friendly caring staff Upgraded to a huge luxurious modern apartment from basic studio because it was a pre-season week in May.
Review 76:We booked a room in this hotel, but we received an email from the hotel a few days before our trip telling us that due to low occupancy, they could not provide accommodation in the hotel we wanted but in another one. We accepted the room in the other Hotel, called Hotel Hvar Jelsa expecting the same sort of standards for the room we originally booked. We arrived there and the hotel is a very old building, with dirty carpets, walls, and in general not pleasant. Our bed sheets and towels were full of brown stains and to make it worse, the receptionist was not friendly at all, we felt a bit weird when we were checking in. Also, the WiFi signal was very weak in the room so we could not even have internet. We decided to check out the next day as early as possible because we could not stand being there for a minute.
Review 77:Very badly signposted - we initially thought we were looking for the Adriatiq Resort however after walking in completely the wrong direction was told we need Hotel Fontana. When we got close we found this huge complex with no signs directing us to reception. In fact there were hardly any signs leading to reception at all - in my opinion all signs should direct you to reception. Our room looked like it had not been decorated since the 1970's - very dated, there was mould on the walls with the occasional cobweb, the bathroom fittings were rusty, the shower would not stay up and kept turning off, there is no air conditioning unit and we had to make do with a very dirty fan, the outside chairs were also very dirty to my disgust as I had sat in one that evening not aware of their condition. The door to the apartment was peeling away and looked very oppressive. The whole complex had an abandonded feeling to it, much akin to a ghost town. The pool (which we didn't use) looked tiny and is misleading in the photos shown on the website. Thank goodness we only stayed 1 night, very disappointing!!!
Review 78:The room was small and in very poor condition, TV was micro sized and the cleaning lady never once made our beds in seven days of stay. Food was terrible and uneatable. The whole complex is depressing and falling apart. Definitely not worth the money we paid for it all.
Review 79:Nature and clean sea.
Review 80:It is my 4th time in island of Hvar, before in city of Hvar and StariGrad. Jelsa then is the best - not so crowdy and noisy as Hvar and morestylish than Stari Grad. The hotel itself is typical old communiststyle, still decent for the price you pay. The location is perfect, 5min nice walk by the sea bank to the city center which is really superb.Lots of trees that makes lack of air condition acceptable. Stay inappartments - with 50 meters or more it is ok for familiy with kids. Donot expect anything nice for the funny price you pay - c/a 1000 eurfor 2 weeks is a really good price. The simming pool is really poor andof course salt water. Highly recommended for those that go to see thepleace, seaside, some diving, snorkling etc. visits to some nice placesand good food. For
Review 81:Restaurant service was extremely slow, over an hour to get ONE peizza! Cleaning in room was poor, we only got the bed made in the morning. Didnt get the towels changed or the dishes clean in the kitchen. Check in time is a bit too late.
Review 82:In nature, green and in front of the beach. Very close to the Jelsa downtown. Perfect for biking.
Review 83:The complex is a bit tired and needs some money spent on it. The photos of the pool create a false impression of size. Food was served buffet style and often there was a scramble for fresh croissants/buns - good value for money but quantity rather than quality.
Review 84:Good location - a lovely walk into Jelsa and swimming was possible on the doorstep. There was plenty of food for breakfast.
Review 85:It was very dated, a bit like a 60's holiday camp, faded. In it's day it was probably great. There appears to be different ages of apartment blocks, possibly owned by different tour operators. We seemed to be in one of the oldest, not very attractive from the outside. Others looked better, those nearer the pool and restaurant which were bigger and probably for families. All the blocks are spread out and takes 5 mins or so to walk up to the restaurant area. A further 5 minutes up hill from the seafront takes you to separate reception block. Our block was behind now an unused building, poorly lit and dodgy steps down to the seafront path Rooms were clean. Balcony furniture bit rickety! Walls paper thin.
Review 86:It's location just 5-10 minute walk from the harbour and the restaurants.
Review 87:Bathroom badly in need of upgrade, enamel flaking off bath, had torepeatedly ask for a fan, even though is stipulated on website.
Review 88:Location and nice pool
Review 89:Contrary to the information given was no internet wifi in thisapartment. Was no information about the location, this apartment is from170 ! step up from the see, so suitable for a young person, but not forus in our age. Our holiday was a mountaineering all day. The fridge wastoo small for 6 person, not connected gas hot plate in the kitchen. Theprice was given in eur, but we have to pay in kuna, with twice changingcomission, it was a negative surprise.
Review 90:Excellent quality property, nice see-view, very kind reception andcleaning service.
Review 91:The staff was a bit unfriendly
Review 92:Jelsa is a great place we enjoyed our stay a lot! The apartment Serbus 3 was recently built , very clean( was also daily cleaned) and quite. The thing that you need to consider is that the hotel is built on a hill and the apartments are spread on the hill which means that you will need to climb a bit going back to the apartment! The beach of the hotel is very clean and quite! The pool is fair; salty water. The location is great!
Review 93:Very spartan conditions in the room; no air conditioning. Breakfast was included, but very poor menu options. Few options with respect to service; you're mostly "on your own".
Review 94:The location near the water and village center; all within easy walking distance
Review 95:Expencive for the quality, very old and tired facilities. Lots of stairsas the complex is on a hill and the reception is right at the top.
Review 96:The hotel is in a beautiful location over looking the sea and in closeproximity to two beaches.
Review 97:Lacked a laundry in room. Wifi was available but you had to pay - allthe other hotels came with wifi free.
Review 98:Room was good - a solid 4 star room in a 3 star hotel. Location atJelsa was good. We were there with two small children and the hotelsuited us fine.
Review 99:Even the apartment had an ok standard, there were a few things that didnot work as it should. No stopper in the bathtub, shower head did notstand by itself. One of the air conditioning had to be turned onmanually. First and foremost; there was little choice of breakfast. Someof the fruit that was presented should have instead been thrown. Driedand little tasty, disrespectful to the guests. Internet worked verypoorly. It was recommended to pay for an hour first to see if it workedat all, anyway, there was no money back if it didnt work ! Theinformation on arrival was very bad, you had to learn mostly on yourown. Information leaflet on the rooms were not in English.
Review 100:Close to the center. Close to beach. The apartment had an ok standard.Spacious rooms.
Review 101:We have a fiew problems with the gas and the hot water that the peoplefot the hotel tell us is not working and the is dangerous have gas so wehave to do our food only with cooktop. In the beach we saw the sewersvery close to the swim area. The hotel is big and with very steps andthey only have avaiable for some people a mini car that could take thebags, for people with child is very dificult to transport everything.
Review 102:The staff of reception was very unfriendly and rude. `Deluxe- apartments`, is misleading and the customer's failure to appreciate. We do not recommend to anyone Fontana.
Review 103:The room originally booked room was a 'superior double'. The room was inpoor condition with broken tiles, worn & stained carpet, a broken doorhandle, and the cupboard doorknob came off in my hand when I opened it.From the balcony, there was virtually no view of the sea because oftrees blocking the view. I requested a room change with at least someviews of the sea. The alternative room was musty and dusty, and hadcobwebs and ants. There were at least partial views of the sea from thebalcony but the plastic patio chairs were cracked which made themuseless to sit on! The light shade was scorched from the lightbulb(potential fire hazard). The tv reception for the English languagechannels was poor. The room was not serviced daily with wet towels notreplaced and the waste bin not emptied. When the towels were changed, afresh towel that was left had a large dirt mark on it. There was wi-fiadvertised as being available but I was told that the wi-fi signal didnot reach all parts of the property and that I should to buy a voucherto check that it worked! At breakfast, flies were landing on the cold meats and cheeses. Occasionally staff were waving their hands to make them fly away. The staff tried to set up a fan but as they could not find a power outlet they went back to occasionally waving their hands - extremely unhygienic . The tables were not set up ready for the start of the breakfast session, and the table cloths had not been washed from previous meals. Staff cleared away partially eaten plates of food despite clearly not being finished breakfast. The overall the quality of the breakfast was poor
Review 104:- Par-baked rolls or croissants at breakfast- close to cafes and restaurants for good quality food and free wi-fi - close to the harbour and bus station for a quick getaway! (this should be at the bottom of the negative column) Overall, the stay at this property was a horrible experience. It may be called a 'resort' but that is only a name. The property generally is poorly maintained and repairs or upgrades have not been done where they are needed. Some paths are not lit at night making them dangerous. Wi-fi should be available all over the property and it should be free. Only book this property if you have extremely low expectations and don't expect sea views ... that way you will not be disappointed.
Review 105:Situated on a hill, walking back up was quite a workout (but good exercise)
Review 106:Beautiful location, great front desk staff, very close to old town
Review 107:One of two flats was not cleaned. Seemed to be pre-season (first stay in flat for the season?)
Review 108:Location and standard of flats
Review 109:No free wifi
Review 110:Quiet with helpful staff.
Review 111:...
Review 112:quite, solitude, clean water in sea
