Reviews for Chatsworth House Hotel

Review 1:the music was thumping until 11 30 pm as they had the turkey and tinsel weekend on - wasn't good as my husband was running the Conwy marathon the next day - and we couldn't get to sleep

Review 2:the view out of the front window

Review 3:Only one small hicup and that was Friday evening meal was very sparse and un appetising and not very hot but everything else was ok

Review 4:Apart from One complaint. We liked everything the food was lovely on the Saturday (Christmas Day) bar staff, dining room staff and cleaning staff were a credit to your hotel .

Review 5:I felt the décor needed overhauling, especially in the pool and hallway areas.

Review 6:I really enjoyed the pool and the heat of the water after a day sitting. The room had a great view over the bay and I was warm and comfortable.

Review 7:Probably could do with some modernisation. Maybe change to buffet style breakfast, always easier these days.

Review 8:Very friendly and helpful staff, good location. Food nice

Review 9:No signal for TV in my room 319 No Wi fi working in my room , so i had to go buy a dvd and watch that .

Review 10:I liked the bed and swimming pool and the veggie breakfast

Review 11:13 parking spaces for a hotel that has 145 rooms, also no advice from reception as to alternative parking but luckily someone pointed us in the right direction. Bathroom was in desperate need of a refurb, advocado bath and advocado & white toilet with poor tiling that needed re-grouting. Breakfast chaos, we went down at 9am and there wasn't one cleared table, despite very few people eating so it looked as though they'd had a big rush on. We asked if a table could be cleared and it was as if we'd said something wrong and we were totally ignored (Damien was particulary poor). We had to sit at a dirty table and it was an uphill struggle to get anything like service, we had to ask for everything twice and Damien looked as though he was going to explode at every request! There didn't seem to be anyone in charge and certainly no-one was greeting people as they came in and directing them to a table.

Review 12:Got a nice quiet room, away from lift and stairs, as I'd requested, and we could see the sea from a side window, which was nice. The bar was run well, nice attentive staff and we enjoyed the ambience of the bar area after our concert, the dj played a good mix of music which we enjoyed. The Christmas Markets were on during our stay and they are very close to the hotel and were well worth visiting.

Review 13:Its is ashame that there is anywhere to park the car because of there car park being full it ashame as this lets the hotel down

Review 14:I found Claire Williams was very helpful and is a valuable member of your team

Review 15:The waiting staff could learn to smile a little more! We felt we were rushed through our 3 courses as plates were plonked on the table. Breakfast was like a scene from Fawlty Towers......no clean tables, unhelpful staff and very much a case of help yourself to whatever cutlery and condiments you could find from other tables. At checkout, we weren't even asked if we enjoyed our stay. Our payment was taken and card handed back without a single word. Everything seemed too much trouble for the staff.

Review 16:The location was excellent. Bed was comfortable and clean, although tiny bathroom (especially as we had a family room!)

Review 17:Scruffy, poky, thin mattress, tiny, cramped bathroom, wifi didn't work. Just very down at heel for the money

Review 18:Good location, friendly, helpful staff on reception.

Review 19:Got blocked in the car park by another guest and had to wait for an hour before manager have is his car to continue journey home then he drove my car later when access was gained

Review 20:Nice hotel with excellent location on the sea front

Review 21:Nothing everything was great.

Review 22:Really friendly and attentative staff. Lovely clean hotel. Our rooms were large, spacious and spotless. Breakfast was most enjoyable. Will certainly stay again.

Review 23:asked could we have a drink when checked into the hotel - was told no bar would be open in about an hour ..room was small and could hardly turn round in the bathroom ..not worth the money stayed in far better hotels for less.

Review 24:Room not worth £80 small and sink in room very small bathroom . Wifi not available anywhere except right by reception hotel very dated

Review 25:Convient position, excellent breakfast very friendly staff clean but needs updating night time entertainment very enjoyable , bar prices reasonable

Review 26:room cleanliness was disgusting with the wall paper hanging from the walls both in the bedroom and bathroom, carpet was dirty and stained. tape holding fixtures together

Review 27:location on the sea front was lovely

Review 28:Breakfast was awful and cold. Staff were surly and when ITold them of a problem she just said "oh". They had had our payment and seemed not bothered whether all had been well. We won't go again.

Review 29:Well located for central bank own amenities

Review 30:Only problem had to park car along way from the hotel.

Review 31:Staff were friendly. Had a very nice sea view bedroom. Pool was ok needs a bit of touching up. Singer was very good.

Review 32:Our room was one that hadn't been refurbished the wallpaper was pealing off the walls expecially the bath room the walls may have been clean but the old wall paper made it look dirty.Room was very disappointed.

Review 33:The down stairs was excellent food entertainment and staff

Review 34:Each time we went the bar we was charged a different price for the same drinks. We also had a leak from the ceiling on to the bed we reported it straight away but wasn't notified of any further action and left with a damp duvet.

Review 35:Good breakfast and friendly staff in restaurant, great location. But was asked was we on a coach break or private guests but not given a reason for this?.

Review 36:The expense of the food, the room was very shabby and dated. we booked through booking.com and was told it would be £150 for us all, 2 adults a 4 year old and a baby, however i was contacted by the hotel and asked to pay an extra £37 for the older child, we were told we would have a really nice room, which was not the case.we then asked for evening meal on arrival which was very good but cost us £40, even though the baby did not eat and the 4 year old had sausage and beans.

Review 37:The pool was lovely and warm and not busy, the food is also very good, however we booked in for an evening meal and it was very expensive

Review 38:Very dated and in need of up-dating. TV very small. Pool changing area was dreadful and so poor it prevented us from using again.

Review 39:Location excellent. Reception staff helpful and accommodating when needed to change room.

Review 40:Enjoyed the evenings good combination of guests and entertainers. Room clean and most comfortable bed ever.Only had breakfast which was very enjoyable and enjoyed a daily swim in a very warm pool .Would return .

Review 41:The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night due to a fault with the alarm system. we then had no sleep as the alarm kept beeping every few seconds. The man on reception said couldn't get any one out to fix till morning

Review 42:thye location was very good

Review 43:a lovely big hotel but as usual need a little bit of new decoration but i do understand because its costs a lot of money , im in the decorating trade myself

Review 44:location was very handy for walking distance to all areas ,,,lovely big hotel

Review 45:The hotel was very unclean, room and bathroom very dated. food was cold, overcooked, greasy poor menu variety. The photos of hotel at booking was false advertising Which lead to us checking out early.extremely disappointed Would not recommend this hotel.

Review 46:Friendly staff

Review 47:Lumpy mattress that you couldn't get comfortable in, it hurt my girlfriends ribs. Dirty room. very noisy plumbing that would wake you if lucky enough to drop off, very noisy when a neighbouring room turned on a tap. a shower head that sprayed on the ceiling, then fell on my girlfriends head(I fixed this)when she used it. A window with no latch to secure it, that led onto a balcony that two neighbors could also access, basically they could have lifted the window up and entered our room through it with ease. Not to mention a domestic that went on next door at 01:30, with walls so thin We could here every 'F' and 'C' word involved. As you can probably gather I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel.

Review 48:The sea view from the window

Review 49:The ensuite was extremely small and difficult to use. The springs are coming through on the mattress (Room 211) and the hotel could really do with new carpets

Review 50:The staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly, the vacation was thoroughly enjoyable and the food was also excellent

Review 51:All the staff are really friendly and professional ,evening entertainment was a singer with a decent voice and good personality. Great breakfast and good to have a swim.

Review 52:The staff didn't seem to want to help and didn't inform us that we were paying for our dinner until we checked out, which they had already write on our recipet that it was included.also the drinks are overpriced.

Review 53:Great location, and very vibrant hotel was very clean and tidy.

Review 54:Breakfast protocol. Was directed from one restaurant to the other. Brought our hot breakfast before we had finished our grapefruit

Review 55:151 room catered for our poor mobility needs

Review 56:I did not like the service, we had a terrible room that we had to go through the restaurant to go to the swiming pool and with a really uncomfortable bed, our back is still with pain. The worst thing was the breakfast. Quality price was not good.

Review 57:The Room (126) was like a utility room, bathroom and toilet, wash basin was situated in the bed room which was not very hygienic.

Review 58:Nothing, the whole experience was distasteful

Review 59:The parking situation is pretty annoying. Better not advertise thatparking is possible, because in reality it is impossible! I was there at12:00 and I told the guy at reception that I parked on a coach'sspace, just to have the comment that obviously I am not a coach?! Wewere family with an infant. Asked several times whether the pool wateris warm and got confirmation - more than hot for your kid. Kids pool wasrather cold. Hand rail of main pool came out in the hands of a lady nextto me. No sign where the depth is changing!!! Beware. I was a lifeguardonce and with my kid in hands I managed to react thankfully. The placeneed renovation.

Review 60:The staff is great and very helpful. Location is good. Llandudno is abeautiful place.

Review 61:Our room was already occupied, and we were given another very small room, with a bathroom the size of a postage stamp. Even too small to fit the sink in!!

Review 62:Great location. Good communial spaces and friendly staff.

Review 63:the rom 703 was worn and not value for money as we only paid £72 the balcony out side was not nice to site and look at dirty , only one chair in the room . no nets at the windows however we do enjoy the entertainment .

Review 64:the breakfast, the entainment was excellent

Review 65:Hotel was lovely & clean in a lovely picturesque area. Staff were very friendly & made you feel welcome. Room was spotless & very comfortable.

Review 66:Room was not one that was shown on your website, ours was an after thought on the back of the hotel awful.Bathroom was appalling mold on shower curtain,Shower pipe was split so water went every where. The barman preferred his phone to serving customers. As for the breakfast i could not eat it, it seemed it had sat under a warming lamp the egg was awful cheap cheap sausages,as for the coffee . Not an experience I wont to repeat,The whole hotel smelt of nutrodo or nursing home. Very very saddened by the whole experience.

Review 67:Location

Review 68:Reception was poor, trying to do too many things at once Clearly geared up for coach parties and as a couple feel out of place Breakfast was poor service and food not very warm.

Review 69:Location was great Evening meal was good value Evening entertainment was good, much better than expected

Review 70:Very comfortable hotel, maintained to a high standard. Breakfast and dinner excellent, with good choice of menu. Excellent position, with convenient parking available.

Review 71:We found the shower in room 160 difficult getting the water hot without having to get into the cubicle to turn it on and cold water came out first. The volume on the TV was set far too low and we had to use sub titles

Review 72:The position is very good and we had no problem with access or charging a mobility scooter, the food was good.

Review 73:It could be more up to date in furnishings when a double bed would be larger than what they offered very small indeed

Review 74:Friendly staff and close to beach

Review 75:Sad and tired Décor, very poorly fitted out Windows didn't shut, consequently was freezing cold all night. Went down for breakfast, only ended up with toast as we were totally ignored by staff!

Review 76:Location was great

Review 77:Toilet very small and shower.

Review 78:Location of hotel excellent and friendly bar staff (Rowan) does brilliant job nothing too much trouble even at busy times very smart made our stay very pleasant.Conwy very nice too visit.

Review 79:The bathroom could have been more modern, but it was adequate.

Review 80:When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who all had smiles., nothing was too much trouble. The room was nice and spacious with comfy beds.

Review 81:The room and shower filthy, mould in shower. I will be asking for a refund, I have photos for proof of how awful this hotel was.The waiter serving meals actually dripped sweat into someone's meal, I had to tell the reception staff to do something!!

Review 82:The abrupt manners of the two gents on the reception desk. The breakfast !

Review 83:The lady on reception is an asset to the hotel. The evening entertainment was ace . Thanks Joe!

Review 84:A very good location, a pleasant and helpful staff, good food . The room was overlooking the sea and very light, the decor was a little jaded but that would not put me off staying here again.

Review 85:En-suite very dated, shower was next to useless, bed had springs sticking up. When we mentioned this we were told that we were given the wrong room ( after the horse has bolted etc).

Review 86:Staff friendly food was good.

Review 87:The room was in a poor state of repair and decor. Wallpaper was hanging off the bathroom walls. The shower tray leaked out onto the bathroom floor and the bathroom door was unable to be closed and secured properly, giving the occupant no privacy The ceiling paper in the bedroom was hanging off and split. Overall very disappointing. Would not stay at this hotel again.

Review 88:Nothing especially

Review 89:Bathroom was very small and the breakfast was not hot. Toilets were a bit far from the bar area.

Review 90:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The entertainment was good it created a great atmosphere in the evening.

Review 91:After reading reviews I was dreading my stay all I can say is ignore them I found all staff helpful and friendly, room was clean and comfy had great stay will be stopping here again.

Review 92:The room was a squat . the carpet was not fitted . the ceiling was water stained and cracking .the windows filthy furniture old 70,s and wheel chair access to room and lift a nightmare.breakfast cold and oily and dirty glasses. Lack of choice. Staff not helpful. After complaining at main desk about the room. was just told to wait and see how the rest of stay was.

Review 93:The only thing we liked was checking out.

Review 94:If there was one thing we didn't like but not much of a problem is, the bed was so hard and pillows just deflated as your head rested on them, even though there were 5-6 pillows......

Review 95:How kind and helpful the staff were, also great to have entertainment on at night in the hotel when you've been out all day nice to stay at the hotel but not just sitting in your room watching t.v in the evening it was great to have a drink and be entertained. The breakfast were fantastic and plenty of it......once again the staff could'nt do enough for you so lovely.

Review 96:Parking is impossible at this dated beach front hotel. The building is old and dated and full of coach parties. Anyone under 70 will feel young! The rooms are small because they have had en-suites added and they are not really big enough for that. It is an expensive experience for the price. We didn't even try the pool based on the rest of the hotel. This hotel was not for us!

Review 97:Nice location on the sea front.

Review 98:The fact that the bathroom in the rooms was tiny no room at all & the sink was in the main bedroom. The breakfast staff were like something out of faulty towers rubbish service nothing came at the same time ie toast came when we had finished our breakfast... we had to ask two different staff about a dozen times for toast...so annoying....

Review 99:The fact the hotel had an indoor pool was great.. The location was great. Rooms basic & in need of an update.

Review 100:There was nowhere to store luggage before or after check in/out. The bedroom was poor. There was wall paper hanging off the walls a hole in the wall and a large hole in the skirting boardwith newspaper stuffed into it. The bathroom was really bad. Black Mould and a very cheap shower fitting which soaked the floor. The pool was old fashioned and changing area something out of the 70s although it all looks lovely in the photographs.

Review 101:Location is brilliant. Within walking distance of all the local shops and restaurants with a beautiful sea view. Breakfast was lovely, waiting staff very pleasant. There were ample tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 102:The hotel was not very clean, the pool was dirty ,all the paint was peeling off the walls, my husband and I had cornflakes and as we took the ate the last spoonful we were asked what we would like for breakfast ,we asked for full English , they appeared within a second ,they had obviously been lying around in the kitchen ,the sink that should be in the bathroom was in the room , on vacating the hotel I was asked by the cleaning lady what time will we be leaving to which I replied 10.30 she said she would rather we leave earlier than that ,it does state that you have check out at 10.30 ,

Review 103:The entertainment was okay

Review 104:- these people don't deliver what they confirm!! Baby cot was not there (after it was delivered we had to make it up by ourselves) ; confirmed "adjecent" rooms were 2 rooms at the other side of the hallway - very narrow bed, not comfortable - weak WIFI connection - Parking problems

Review 105:Good location at the promenade

Review 106:Staff and management rude, inconsiderate, discourteous with couldn't care less attitude. Noise from entertainment was an unacceptable level, being so loud it made the floor of my room vibrate. I complained about this to the receptionist but she was unconcerned. I asked to be moved to another room but couldn't because they were fully booked. I was also told that I was the only one who had complained. After the entertainment had finished other guests in the hotel were very, very noisy in the bar and there was the noise of a constant humming sound. I had been up since 4.00am and just wanted to sleep but but couldn't because of all the noise from the bar. I phoned down to reception and asked if they could ask the other guests to keep the noise down because it was now half past midnight. He refused, claiming that they were all on holiday and wanted a good time and were enjoying themselves!!! I walked out at 1.00pm and demanded a full refund (had had to pay in full on arrival). The following morning I returned to the hotel and saw the manager who did not take any notice of what I was telling him, twisted it all round to make it my fault because I'd stayed in a hotel with entertainment, totally missed the point I was making about the attitude of the staff and the treatment I had received. He refused to give me a refund. I confess I was extremely rude to him and I walked out. The whole experience was not only very annoying but extremely distressing. Avoid this hotel at all cost!!!!

Review 107:Our bed...the mattress definitely needs to be replaced. Although ok I am pleased it was only for two nights. The light shining in the room from the spotlights really brightened the room until 11pm.

Review 108:Great location..can't be faulted. Charming and pleasant.

Review 109:The room we had was very tired, it was at the back of the hotel. The room was musty, the bathroom was very small. The decor was poor. We paid £250 for two nights and I felt that it was not value for money we were very disapointed and we won't stay there again.

Review 110:Organisation was at best mediocre, seems an attitude of 'good enough', which for the price I guess probably is! Finding my room upon arrival was difficult with inadequate directions provided.

Review 111:Breakfast was good, room was comfortable.

Review 112:the first day i did not get much breakfast,so i didnt have the tomato the next day so they gave me an other sausage . so that was a bit better

Review 113:the breakfast was just ok , it was served to you and there was not very much of it. the hotel was very good with my dog

Review 114:No WiFi in the room. Towels and shampoo/shower gel not replenished every day. A bit dated.

Review 115:The location is good and the swimming pool is excellent. The staff are very friendly. This is one of the better hotels in llandudno

Review 116:Great you have a small car park, could do with a bit of a tidy.

Review 117:We found the staff to be very cheerful and helpful. Our room was spotless.Breakfast was very good, service was very quick and all our orders were correct.Very enjoyable stay.(the dog had a great stay too)

Review 118:The cleanliness of the tea pots. Some had solidified grease inside. These should be washed separately from greasy utensils and pots. This is a health hazard and s serious food hygiene issue. Please take this on board.

Review 119:The wet facilities , the surroundings, the room was clean and quiet. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. The building is beautiful.

Review 120:breakfast never arrived together due to items changing. would maybe have stayed for tea but was expensive and not much choice.not much of restuarant more cafe need to look at modernise this room.

Review 121:Location was good and hotel impressive due to modernisation.

Review 122:The breakfast staff were unhelpful, slow and did not share with us any information about how the breakfast system worked. We were told to "just sit there" and were ignored by 4 staff for the next 20 minutes. As soon as we were able to ask a staff member if we had to get our own food, (there was no buffet) he brought our cooked breakfast quickly, but he was unable to tell the difference between tea and coffee!

Review 123:The front desk ladies were brilliant

Review 124:My single room was cramped, everything laying on an angle. Black stains on the pvc windows, and a nasty ceiling in the bathroom. Felt a bit ripped off.

Review 125:The staff try very hard to be accomadating the breakfast was good. And good location.

Review 126:although hotel was clean décor in room in need of update

Review 127:very friendly and helpful staff good location on the sea front breakfast was good evening entertainment was good all in all a very good nights stay

Review 128:Ihad a not renovated room, so dirty!!! Sheets, toilet were clean, shower with a lot of mould, dust in the corners! Not just dirty, dirt of years. I asked 2 times for more cleaning. The employes of the reception made a note for the manager cleaning, no results! I spoke to people who had a room for the same price, renovated and clean. I sent a mail to the manager for 3 times, no answer. Don't book this hotel if you like clean and bright rooms!!!

Review 129:A cold breakfast (3 plates were returned) Room size (little space to walk round end of bed) Poor choice of beer (no real ale)

Review 130:Pool Location Sea view from room Reception staff Decor fresh and bright Nightly entertainment - ok ?

Review 131:I stayed in room 319 hardly slept after 4:00am the seagulls were a nightmare all around the roof were I was staying, I know it's not the hotels fault but definitely avoid this room

Review 132:Staff friendly and helpful

Review 133:Man on desk overcharged us by 300 pound had to show him the booking on my phone because he argued that he was right so manager sorted it out we were right my mum paid with her card I realised later he had over charged us my mum is old and didn't realise am so angry about it it was lucky I realised didn't get much of an apology. Either we came here last year as well and spent a lot of money family of six won't be coming back because of this

Review 134:Sea view clean breakfast

Review 135:The hotel has only partially refurbished its many rooms. Our was one still 'waiting'. The hotel caters - possibly primarily - for coach parties at the less-expensive end of the range.

Review 136:The location on the sea front is perfect.

Review 137:Hotel and rooms a bit dated, Service at breakfast was either rushed or very slow.Small car park so very difficult to park.

Review 138:Good central location and the bar staff Rowan and Mitch very good at what they do.Nice little swimming pool.

The Fine Print

Parking spaces are limited and reservation is not possible. Please be aware that the swimming pool is currently being refurbished and will be not available during the month February.
