Reviews for Killyon Guest House
Review 1:The parking facilities, I had to park on a very steep hill at the side of the house. The bedroom & en suite were tiny.
Review 2:The bed was comfortable & the guesthouse was quiet & quirky, everywhere was spotless.
Review 3:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Wifi did not reach the family room we stayed in, which was downstairs.
Review 4:Fabulous breakfasts, warm welcome by the hosts & their lovely dog. Opposite a good hotel where you could go for evening meals & a drink. Beautiful furniture.
Review 5:No complaints
Review 6:The ambiance and decor was superb the hospitality fantastic another guest left their bag in a taxi and the owner went to get it I was impressed from the moment I arrived and enjoyed my brief stay I will recommend to colleagues and friends .
Review 7:the owners are very friendly and correct. the rooms are nice and the breakfast is 5 star hotel quality. a real treat to stay their for both work or as vacation. very recommended.
Review 8:Bed and besd clothes smelled musty and damp. Dust and cobwebs covered the room too many ornaments cluttered the dated room. Was quoted one price over the phone and was different on the day of check out. Disgusting behavior very sneaky.
Review 9:Good variety for breakfast
Review 10:Only negative thing was that my mams room was not ensuite the bathroom was right beside her room but it was a shared bathroom. Not a big negativity but would have been nice to be pre warned
Review 11:The owners were so helpful. The breakfast was amazing so much to choose from. Excellent value and i will definately reccomend it and return when im going to naven
Review 12:The beds were hard and the shower had no water pressure.
Review 13:The breakfast was amazing. The host were very accommodating, and gave us great tips on what to see. Even loved the dog!
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:The most beautiful breakfast you will ever have. Loads of lovely home made muslie, granola, breads, jams, yogurts etc. Michael and Sheila were first class hostess. I'll be back.
Review 16:This BnB is without question one of the finest best operated facilities in Ireland. Michael and Sheila serve the most creative breakfasts and are more imaginative with their furnishings than anywhere we stayed during our month in country.
Review 17:Unfortunately room 5 needs a de humidifier as their is a definite damp smell - I appreciate that the building is beside the river. Don't let this put you off - this is an excellent place to stay.
Review 18:Excellent host and fabulous breakfast what a spread!
Review 19:The location is really far outside the town. And you wouldn't want to walk into the center. There's hardly any wifi downstairs. I couldn't find the B&B without Google maps. I recommend to look for the big Ardboyne Hotel. It's right below.
Review 20:I've never seen a room that much decorated before. The breakfast is excellent though.
Review 21:The WiFi is just in the parlour and was a bit slow.
Review 22:Fabulous breakfast served by a gracious host in a beautiful house. Flowers blooming outside breakfast sun room.
Review 23:We were in a downstairs room. The rooms are semi subterranean. So they stay a bit damp and smell musty. Anyone with a mold allergy should not stay there. The upstairs is fine.
Review 24:The breakfast was awesome.By far the best we had in Ireland, and we had lots of good breakfasts. It's worth going there just for the breakfast. Everything fresh and home made breads to boot.
Review 25:Warm welcome, very friendly and most helpful owners. The breakfast choice was superb, the amount of food and drinks were excellent. The breakfast room was so light and had a lovely view.
Review 26:The decoration of the room was a bit creepy, lots of old collectibles gave it an eerie feel
Review 27:Perfect location for us as we had a wedding in the hotel right across the road.
Review 28:Beautiful and comfortable room, beautiful garden and balcony, superb variety and quality of breakfast choices served in sunny room furnished with antiques; friendly and helpful hosts; excellent location for sightseeing in the Boyne Valley and beyond; exactly what one is looking for in a B&B
Review 29:The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast was lovely. The owners were very welcoming and offered us advice on places to eat and things to do in the local area.
Review 30:Excellent service - the owner responded quickly to our email and allowed us to check in early so that we could get dressed for a local wedding and leave our luggage with them so we didn't have to move it later in the day. Slept well, bed was very comfy and more than worth the money! Breakfast was great too.
Review 31:Lovely place, full of character. Proprietors were delightful. Breakfast menu was excellent with main items cooked to order using fresh produce. Absolutely delicious!
Review 32:Bathroom features were fine, but plumbing could function better
Review 33:Balcony with view over river and flower garden, breakfast was the best of the entire trip, lovely and interesting antiques, grounds were gorgeous
Review 34:I cannot fault a single thing about my stay. From start to finish I enjoyed every moment of my stay.
Review 35:The owners especially Sheila is just great she does her utmost to make you feel comfortable and she couldn't do enough for you. The bed had an electric blanket which I loved and the house was so beautiful looks just like a doll house surrounded by beautiful flowers and on the inside decorated with vintage furniture. The breakfast was so delicious a great selection of fruits breads and cereals too. One of our group had to check out early but the rest of the group remained until 12 which was no problem for Sheila. I will 100% return to this beautiful b&b and would recommend it to anyone I know!
Review 36:We never stayed in the place once we arrived and was showing our room the smell of damp as we walked into the was very off putting my wife pulled back the bedding sheets to discover a pubic hair in the bed that was enough for us we left and stayed somewhere else
Review 37:The flowers were amazing, I wish I could post the pictures I took. The family went above and beyond to help us find activities and restaurants. Great experience I hope to be back
Review 38:Excellent choices for breakfast and lots to eat.Great room overlooking the river behind. Excellent recommendation for place to eat across the road.Good direction from host for things to see and to the airport
Review 39:The description would suggest that rooms were ensuite, mine wasn't. I shared a bathroom accross the hall with another couple (despite being led to believe on arrival that the bathroom, although not ajoining my bedroom, was 'your ensuite'. I should state, to be fair, there was a sink unit in my bedroom. The bathroom itself was dated and cluttered and looked like it was the owner's family bathroom, with odd toiletries such as baby powder lying around which I assumed were not for guest use. There were hairs (not mine) shed around my bedroom on arrival. The window facing the main road at the front of the house did not have a curtain hanging (there was fabric lying next to it, maybe guests are expected to hang their own curtains). This guesthouse leaves a lot to be desired compared to the standards set by similarly priced competitors.
Review 40:Location was very suitable for the purpose of my trip. Nice views of the river. The code for the wifi was left in my room, so that I could connect no problem on arrival.
Review 41:The house is simply perfect: cosy and bright . The breakfast was luxurious and the hosts were so nice that we would have liked to take them home with us.
Review 42:Rooms are a little dated with blankets instead of duvets... Our room looked out onto a very tired unkept garden. Wifi appeared to be limited could not access from our room.
Review 43:The house is busting with character and the hosts where informative and accommodating. We had the family room on the ground floor which was clean and suitable for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful with good variety.
Review 44:This little jewel of a guest house is a lovely oasis on the way into Navan. Both elegant and comfortable, the house is beautifully furnished and common spaces are available for guest use. Our bedroom was beautiful, bathroom was spacious, and my favorite part was the deck full of flowers and the friendly (and very well behaved) collie. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, with a starter of fruit, bread with jam, and yogurt, and a second course cooked to order (I had eggs and bacon, but fancier dishes were also offered). The seriously incredible breakfast makes this spot a superb value, as we would have paid 20 to 30 euro for such deliciousness in town.
Review 45:A very small thing, no tv in the room I stayed in, but a tv lounge room existed in the guesthouse. Plus I was only staying for one night so it wasn't an issue at all.
Review 46:The owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty, with a large selection of food available. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast area is located in a sunroom and also a lovely outdoor area which overlooks the peaceful river boyne.
Review 47:Michael was a great host as was his wife Sheila. Michael had some good stories. Expected the usual mundane b and b, we were happily surprised with the decor, comfort and warmth of the b and b and its hosts. The best breakfast ever of any b and b we have stayed in world wide.
Review 48:Not sure if there was internet access, we were not told but since it wasn't that necessary it was a very minor flaw in our total experience. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Review 49:Breakfast was superb, the setting everywhere in the house is just perfect, very lovingly decorated. Felt like we've time-travelled to another age. The price for a night's stay was also very reasonable. There was also a big bathroom with a bathtub (the room is en suite) - great for soaking in after a long day in chilly Irish spring weather. The location is great, 5 mins by car from Navan city centre, there are places to eat/drink there. Dunderry Park is 15 mins away in the other direction.
Review 50:Loved finding the Killyon house -- perfect location for exploring Newgrange, Slane Castle….and convenient to Dublin Airport. Our hosts were so welcoming, breakfast was amazing -- not only in taste, choice, but presentation! Exceptional collection of china and silver serving pieces!
Review 51:Hard to sleep with the sound of the traffic and a dog barking all night. The en suite was tiny and the grout around the shower needs to be refreshed.
Review 52:Very nice house and very welcoming. Beautiful fruit at breakfast. Nice lounge for guests.
Review 53:Great host! Cheaper guesthouse the accommodation nearby, room was spacious with an amazing view overlooking the river Boyne and had a lovely breakfast cooked fresh by the host!
Review 54:Parking was a little tight & a little bit of road traffic noise in the room but unavoidable considering its location.
Review 55:Friendly & helpful owner, good location, great breakfast both choice wise & quality.
Review 56:I believed that the price may have been a bit too high for a B and B. I also think the bed in our room was in frail condition, and should be changed immediately.
Review 57:I liked that the staff were friendly and helpful, they arranged taxi's for us. Also, the location was ideal, as my girlfriend and I we're going out in Navan town. I also liked the rooms decoration.
Review 58:I was very unhappy not been able to make a cup of tea in my room, after coming a journey, I couldn't understand, why, you couldn't supply a kettle and tea bags, for that reason, I wouldn't go back, also would like to see a menu on the table, for guests to look at and decide what to choose, I think it would be a good idea for your buissness to have a menuin few different languages, as they were French people there, and they couldn't understand what you were trying to tell them what you had for breakfast, we also felt you had a lot of furniture in the bedroom, too much clutter.
Review 59:loved the choice of breakfast, well presented, fresh, tasty.
Review 60:There was not enough pressure in the shower and the wifi wasn't great behind a closed room door.
Review 61:Location was great, we wanted to visit the hill of Tara and Newgrange the next day and they are not far. Food was fantastic and the whole house and rooms have so much character.
Review 62:Outstanding breakfasts, friendly atmosphere and ease of parking. Great value.
