Reviews for Hydro Hotel

Review 1:Got a parking ticket we squeezed on the end of the car park part of the car was on the pavement did not realise that it was ,so it cost us a bit extra never mind ,they need lines on the end

Review 2:We booked last minute but still had a sea view room lovely comfy bed and a nice breakfast.

Review 3:I purchase a parking ticket and put it on my dashboard. But some how it fell off. £50. Fine. Hope Llandudno council see spence. ( no room in the hotel car park )

Review 4:We wanted to see the fireworks, the hotel was the right price and the right location.

Review 5:Tv in room far to small, set times for breakfast and especially evening meals too early & restrictive.but still would recommended great value for money ideal for a theatre overnight stay

Review 6:Good value for money room large,v clean & comfortable, breakfast good had full English well cooked, plenty of choice. All staff polite and courteous

Review 7:No wifi available in bedrooms. When asked about wifi we were told it's only available in the bar and restaurant area since average age of the guests are 80years old and they don't use wifi. Breakfast was only served between 8-9am, as a young couple this was too early for us and so we should have gotten a room without breakfast as we didn't have breakfast, bit of wasted money really.

Review 8:Location was excellent and the hotels own free private car park behind the hotel was great.

Review 9:It is not exclusive or luxurious but we didn't want that.

Review 10:Excellent games room with huge Snooker table and a darts board. Other games also provided. The staff were so lovely and helpful, food good.

Review 11:Time for breakfast on Sunday. later time would have been nicer as we were not in a group but a couple. 8 - 9.30 is early. Most hotels do later breakfast on Sunday and a later check out.

Review 12:The staff are very sensitive to people's difficulties

Review 13:The entertainment was somewhat 'jaded'

Review 14:Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Room was clean. Food was beautifully presented & good quality. The views from the conservatory looked straight over the promenade & sea.

Review 15:We enjoyed a good night's sleep , the breakfast and dinner and the evenings entertainment. The staff were always helpful and polite, very professional. Overall we considered this to be very good value for money, we will be going again.

Review 16:1) Beds mattresses are really poor quality. Both of my Sister & I had a very bad sleep due to the the bad springs and collapsing mattresses. 2) On reporting the matter to Ola on reception she just laughed it off and advised 'we're eventually changing the mattresses!' 3) We ordered one normal English breakfast and one Vegetarian breakfast. Two normal breakfasts arrived for me (Angie) the Vegetarian? I don't eat meat. My relative turned away his normal breakfast as the bacon was all slimy and not cooked. I ended up asking to remove the hash browns and fried bread from the two breakfasts. The breakfast was reduced in size. I asked for extra eggs and the state they we're served to us, was so unprofessional. 4) No teaspoons for English tea? The staff didn't seem to care/know? Yours concerned

Review 17:The location

Review 18:Wifi was only in foyer area. Not a place for today's traveller. Not suitable for people under 70 years. No menus choice! Staff were friendly but didn't go out of their way. Bar was intermittently attended by staff. Limited parking availability. Only one small lift!

Review 19:There should be wifi in the rooms, but the only place we could get it was in reception and there were no seating as the location is not suitable for seating, so we were unable to use it

Review 20:Very clean room Breakfast was very well presented and served

Review 21:Had to request items at breakfast that were not provided such as milk and butter. I was sitting there with a bowl of muesli and no milk until I asked. Same with butter for toast-not provided until I requested.

Review 22:Clean, comfortable, good location. Friendly staff.

Review 23:Be nice to have wifi in rooms but I realise most people staying are elderley so would not reakly want internet!

Review 24:Seaview room and plenty of room. Bathroom lovely.

Review 25:The breakfast was tasteless and really small portions. Service over breakfast was slow and the staff not particularly helpful - we had no butter or jam for our toast and by the time we got this our toast was cold. We were given no milk with our tea and coffee and by the time we got this our drinks were cold. Nobody checked back to make sure our breakfast was ok (which it wasn't). We ended up not going for breakfast on the second morning because of this.

Review 26:The room was big and the bar was cheap for drinks!

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Really lovely hotel, booked it 10 minutes before walking thru the door, late at night and staff were fantastic and sorted our room very quickly. Would stay there again!

Review 29:Second evenings meal let you down. Curry chicken & rice. Tasteless . I am sorry to report.

Review 30:The Hotel was clean, comfortable the food was good, the service and staff exceptional. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Review 31:I felt that after paying £15 for my evening meal that the portions were disappointing and that I shouldn't have been given the same portions as the coach guests who were on a tariff. Very unhappy with this and would have to think again before booking into restaurant again. Most of the entertainment was old fashioned and very similar and catered for an older age range only.

Review 32:The hotel was light and airy and comfy with staff who were pleasant and friendly and went out of their way to assist you. The breakfast's were great with plenty of choice and set you up for the day.

Review 33:Breakfast to early. Sitting with other people at meals. If privately booked, bar not open all day to residence,

Review 34:Staff very help full, very clean. Food lovely.

Review 35:Nothing.

Review 36:Everything! Great location, very good staff, very clean hotel with great choice of food. Entertainment was provided or there was a quiet bar with comfortable seating overlooking the sea as an alternative. Best hotel I have used in Llandudno. Would recommend hotel!!!!

Review 37:No wi fi in room, small TV , cramped ensuite, limited meal times redecoration required would prefer buffet breakfast as portions were small

Review 38:On site parking close proximity to shops and seafront nice light. Conservatory

Review 39:we needed an early breakfast so we could book out at 8:30am but were told cooked breakfast was not available that early so we had to settle for tea toast and cereal, staff were good about it, but I think there must be others who need an early start with a cooked breakfast inside you ready to hike up Snowdon

Review 40:Snooker, table tennis and the bar. Everything was spot on, other than our need for an early start with a cooked breakfast. Next time we are up that way will definately stay at the Hydro

Review 41:Sunday Morning Breakfast time could do to be extended by at least half an hour or 8.30 till 10am very early finish for a Sunday. Dinner menu not very extensive whilst food was tasty it reminded me of food served in upmarket residential homes. NEED TO ATTRACT SOME YOUNGER CLIENTS OF MIDDLE AGE!! (as well as the older clientele)

Review 42:Loved the room so large and spacious. Staff couldn't be better all really friendly and charming yet remained professional. cleanliness is of a high standard. Breakfast good.

Review 43:Could have eaten more breakfast

Review 44:Spotless room, very pleased with cleanliness. Breakfast waiter served and hot. Excellent location on the seafront and close to shops. Helpful staff Great to park in car park and near to town and shops. This is the third stay at this hotel and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We will be staying here again, when come back to Llandudno. Excellent stays on all 3 occasions stayed here so very consistent.

Review 45:The only thing was the bed was a bit on the hard side

Review 46:The food was very good it was always hot ,the staff were very helpful nothing was to much trouble .

Review 47:Ground floor room noise. You got a lot of sound of running water from other rooms plus the sound of water pumps.upper rooms ok.

Review 48:Food was good and, service was also Good.

Review 49:I booked a Superior Double Room, as well as a Twin Room and a Single room. The Twin Room was twice as big as our room, as was the bathroom. The Single Room was the same size as our Double, and both the cheaper rooms had a view of the sea - we over-looked the car park.

Review 50:Only downside would be that there are lots of stairs. Lift takes you to your floor but there are stairs here and there to be climbed, would be restrictive for those with walking problems.

Review 51:The Hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and professional. our room 108 was big and airy with wonderful views of the promenade. the food was great and varied.

Review 52:Most hotels offer breakfast until at least 10am at the weekends; this hotel only runs breakfast between 8-9am. Smelt musky. Reception staff not the that pleasant

Review 53:The location was great

Review 54:Choice of food was too restrictive and portions were small. I also found some staff had limited English particularly our waiter.

Review 55:Great location with a good view

Review 56:I am 51 years old and felt like a spring chicken at this hotel. Seems to be the place for senior citizens of Wales to have their holiday. More like a senior citizens center than a hotel. I found it really funny, and did enjoy myself. Some may not be so amused. Wifi only in bar area and very poor.

Review 57:Nice enough. Nice little seaside town.

Review 58:nothing it was a true relaxing, no worries break.

Review 59:The staff were amazing so polite and helpful nothing was too much trouble The hotel felt comfortable as soon as you walked in the door ,the decor was traditional and homely with modern touches but made you feel relaxed.

Review 60:It smells a little funny in places. Not musty just old. Not many young families go here at all. In fact, saw just 1 during our one night stay and as a young family ourselves well a 40 year old and 12 year old, felt very out of place like we shouldn't have been there.

Review 61:Having the games room a really powerful shower and serving a lovely breakfast are probably the only things that have allowed me to score as high as I have. Hotel is old and very tired and all the floors have a split level which the top level on each floor can only be accessed by stairs. Not a bad position on the seafront, very limited parking (not many spaces for the size of hotel). A cheap stay booked at last minute and it was ok.

Review 62:Noise and disturbed sleep. House keeping entering the bedroom before i got chance to answertve doir. Maintance man servicing fan in shower when me and my partner were relaxing after our drive, surely this could be done when the room waz unoccupied!

Review 63:The hotel was adequate for our stay not the best of rooms but never the less the sea view was really good but not being woken up ar 03:00 in the early hours of roudey people outside the hotel

Review 64:During breakfast it took an age to get service and when it did arrive the portion was far too small. Better faster service required and portions should be bespoke and tailored to the individual and the individuals needs

Review 65:the bedrooms had a creaking ceiling above us , didnt get much sleep, entertanment was very poor didnt have the room to accomadate the people who were staying there, also the food menu wasnt up to much and they did run out of food for the 7 0 clock sitting.

Review 66:There were a lot of older people staying at this hotel which I don'trecall seeing on any reviews but it's something to be aware of. Thebreakfast was made to order but pretty poor.

Review 67:Good location.

Review 68:Bar closing at 11 pm. Also lack of availability of food outside of bar opening times. We arrived back at the hotel at 1.30 pm on Saturday to be advised that we could not order sandwiches. We were in Llandudno to view hotels for Welsh & British drama festivals in 2016/2017 yours rated poorly.

Review 69:The bar closed at 11. The breakfast was served so you couldn't see what was available. Toast came with the main course, but had gone cold and cardboardy. There was no marmalade.

Review 70:Very comfortable bed. Good location. We needed a meeting room at short notice and there was no charge.

Review 71:We did send the breakfast toast back as it wasn't properly done and the egg was hard but these things were quickly remedied. The bar closed at 11pm which we and other residents found much too early and should be reviewed. However, we would still recommend this hotel.

Review 72:The staff were very friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The room was very clean and beds comfortable and we were given a sea view which was an added bonus. We had the evening meal which was excellent value - 3 courses plus tea or coffee for £15.

Review 73:Our only complaint was that the bar closed at 11-00pm

Review 74:We liked how the hotel had plenty of space in all areas. Also how friendly all the staff were,we have stayed three times.

Review 75:Cleaner entered room a second after knocking, privacy concerns. Missed breakfast each day as I was "scheduled" for 8-9am! One room change offered smelled really very bad. Bathroom floors brand new but need a scrub around toilets.

Review 76:Excellent location but solo room very tiny, TV didn't work and no view. Staff so helpful though- changed room and I paid twin room increase. Bed was great!

Review 77:Nothing. We will definitely book and return here. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Review 78:Very clean room, comfortable beds, warm rooms, helpful staff. Excellent value for money. The hotel was on the sea front and close to shopping centre. The dining room was lovely and well maintained. The breakfast was waiter served and so arrived hot, which was good.

Review 79:Would liked to have checked in earlier - 4 pm and the day is nearly gone.

Review 80:I couldn't fault anything (I would if I could). It was the best hotel so far I have stayed in on the front, and will definitely stay there again. Congratulations to the management for delivering such a good service to their clientele.

Review 81:Couldn't stay for two nights

Review 82:Lovely room warm hotel with warm and welcoming staff, should be a higher star rated hotel. We will be returning again and again.

Review 83:would have liked free wi-fi in room and the bar to have remained open later than 11-0 pm. Coach trippers had priority at breakfast. I had to ask waiter for quicker service - I had a train to catch. To be fair when I pointed this out it was delivered promptly

Review 84:excellent airy room with a view

Review 85:No wi-if in bedrooms or biscuits. Funny smell in ground floor corridor and only capital radio playing in bar.

Review 86:The place was lovely and clean, bed rooms and bathrooms spotless, every where nice and warm. Good choice for breakfast. Staff very polite and helpful.

Review 87:We could hear the entertainment in our bedroom load and clear.

Review 88:It is a well maintained super clean and polished hotel.Loved our sea view.We were so pleased we will be visiting again.

Review 89:Car park isn't large enough for the size of hotel

Review 90:The staff were fantastic couldn't do enough spacious clean very warm twin room with a sea view. Booked it last minute on the morning and would definitely recommend it

Review 91:Table was not allocated and half way through our breakfast we were asked to move to facilitate another couple sitting there. We refused and an atmosphere was created.

Review 92:The hotel was warm (it was late November) and comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and served quickly. The evening entertainment was really enjoyable. We've recommended the Hydro to all our friends and are looking forward to staying again.

Review 93:No complaints of note, perhaps some biscuits with the tea/coffee would have been appreciated. The speed in which the breakfast was served suggested that the food was "pre-cooked" but still, it was a good and filling meal.

Review 94:Entrance and reception area very clean and tidy.Receptionist pleasant, attentive and welcoming. Allowed to check in early, room spacious, clean with all the usual toiletries, plenty of tea and coffee available.Bed very comfortable, room also warm<very cold outside>. T/V did not work, informed receptionist and an attendant was on hand within five minutes to help us. Had a "sea view" room, overlooking the prom.,pier etc, good value @ £74 per night. Dining room very spacious, staff attentive and very pleasant. Quick service.

Review 95:Eggs and bacon not cooked enough for my taste. Looked a bit raw looking so I declined a fry after first morning. Bar closing too early. Breakfast too early for a lot of mature people there.

Review 96:Staff were friendly.

Review 97:the black dome on the roof made the hotel stand out but didn't match with the light outside colour & beautiful garden .

Review 98:friendly & helpful staff clean & recently decorated room & bathroom would stay again.

Review 99:Access to carpark through basement which was grotty breakfast was 8-9am on a sunday!!

Review 100:great tea/coffee facilities in room excellent shower lovely breakfast good games room grand building although a bit 'tired'

Review 101:At breakfast as we were only a 2 we had to sit with a couple and I would have preferred if we could have sat on our own, only a small moan everything else v good

Review 102:my son was in a swimming competition right by the hotel, location was fab, room very comfortable

Review 103:Sunday breakfast times 8 am to 9am are utterly useless.A spoiler on a weekend stay.

Review 104:The room was comfy spacious and warm.Cosy comfy beds.Nice decor.A fantastic seafront view which was utterly splendid.

Review 105:The only potential downside could be parking at very busy times of year. It didn't make any difference to us.

Review 106:Staff were very welcoming, the room comfortable and clean. Everything you could want on a short weekend break

Review 107:The heating was not on had to ask for a room heater even though there was central heating in the room. The whole hotel was cold. The bar was not open all day.

Review 108:The staff were very attentive, although no local people were employed there.

Review 109:Beds were hard. Food portions were on the small side. One hour for breakfast was limiting. I can only drink decaff but no decaff tea bags were available and only instant packet coffee was offered in the dining room.

Review 110:Shower. Cleanliness. Staff polite and helpful. Snooker table. My son enjoys playing snooker. There was a dartboard but he forgot his darts. We were late for breakfast one morning, but they still served us.

Review 111:room very hot window would not close matress very soft and due to plastic based matress protector bed very hot and uncomfortable vegetarian option meals to be booked at breakfast(no use on first day)very little variation in meals from day to day

Review 112:Breakfast - very poor quality products, bread that thin and cheap, sausage thin and fatty. We also dont like being told what time we can eat breakfast when on holiday!!!

Review 113:Rooms were lovely, large, good sea view, nice and comfortable

Review 114:we only stayed one night so we did nt see anything in that time that we could say we did nt like.

Review 115:We liked everything about the hotel maybe a little tired in some places but for the price all in all good value. staff very nice and helpful rooms clean and breakfast good.

Review 116:Not a good choice at the bar no real ale on offer. Not able to use debt card in the bar you had to call at reception to open account for drinks.

Review 117:The accommodation and food was good for the price. Hotel clean and tidy.

Review 118:In rear room.coaches shaking window and noisy.room adequate just a bit on the small side

Review 119:Staff in all areas very good. Dining room very nice.seating etc good.food decent.

Review 120:Hotel is a bit dated in need of some refurb. Breakfast and evening meal were ok but portions small and staff quite grumpy.

Review 121:View from room was lovely. Room was very clean and spacious.

Review 122:Had a very bad experience when I received the paperwork confirming my booking. It was not what I had confirmed over the phone when booking a additional night. When I rang to confirm the conversation I had with the receptionist i was told that she would not have possible have lied. Which in my opinion meant that I was not telling the true which really upset me. Also it was now to late to cancel my booking as everywhere was fully booked.

Review 123:Staff, location, guests, food. Rooms. Relaxation area.

Review 124:It was a very pleasant stay as a mature couple we found it very relaxing the entertainment was there if we wanted it The food was good would recommend

Review 125:We asked for a room with a view but we didn't think the hotel staff would take our request seriously because you normally will have to pay for a different price for rooms with views. My partner and I were both extremely delighted and touched to find our room facing the sea. It's good to have your request taken care of. As well as this, I had a good and sound sleep at night, you can hear the tranquility of sea waves, it was a special experience. Also I would like to give compliments to the restaurant staffs, who were so courteous, friendly and attentive, they've made our journey a fantastic one.

Review 126:Maybe for the more mature visitors, not sure why all the staff felt compelled to run everywhere?!

Review 127:Good central location with good views, get what you see, sound old fashioned hotel

Review 128:Arrogant, rude housekeeping staff who knock your door constantly (no "do not disturb" signs), a room which backs onto a very noisy coach park behind all the other hotels - extremely noisy from 8am onwards; there is no aircon so it is either noise or heat. Breakfast only served between 8 and 9am, snooker/table tennis tables only fit for firewood, slow wi-fi only available in the bar, tired decor with paint peeling off the old steel radiators in the room.

Review 129:Location, some of the staff

Review 130:Food was a big disappointment to us, it came cold once, and the waiter decided to sort out table 62 before us, we found out why it was the big tip they gave him, so we were not impressed.

Review 131:The hotel was brilliant for disabled, the room was good, the hotel bars were good, some staff very polite, room service was good, we had a lovely sea view from our room, its a shame the restaurant let them down.

Review 132:On booking there was no initial indication this was a leisureplex Hotel dealing mainly with very mature couples and singles, therefore being sixty i felt i was one of the youngest there. The staff although helpful could have been more up to date with local knowledge etc. There was a lift to all floors, however the floors were split level with 10 steps up to the next level, something to bear in mind if you have a disability when booking.

Review 133:This Hotel is an Old Victorian grade 2 listed building. All the rooms reflect the Victorian era they are large and still have the old character and styling about them. The decor may seem to be a little tired and dated, but everywhere is clean and fresh. The staff were all very helpful. Breakfast was served to you and was plentiful and good. All in All the stay was pleasant and comfortable, would i stay there again Yes, as previously stated all rooms, corridors are a lot larger then modern day hotels and you don't fell confined.

Review 134:Staff understanding if English was poor, not customer service to speak of and the breakfast was poor

Review 135:Location is perfect, room was lovely and well fitted out with iron, kettle and TV etc

Review 136:Our room was a little cramped but we managed.

Review 137:The overall experience of just being there, including dining each evening. Llandudno itself was most enjoyable. My gluten free diet was satisfied extremely well.

Review 138:Everything was fine!

Review 139:The service from staff was good and a special thanks to the night porter who kindly located a fan for me. Not all hotels are that bothered!
