Reviews for The Three Pigeons Inn
Review 1:Lack of communication regarding decision to close the bar and facilities on New Years Day.. However the manager did make every effort to remedy our disappointment.
Review 2:A great inn, good staff and comfortable.
Review 3:The location, facilities, service, food and drink were all perfect for our overnight stay. The Three Pigeons has a warm and cosy atmosphere. The staff cannot do enough to help you and the food and drink was amazing. A perfect 10 out of 10 and will certainly visit again!
Review 4:Absolutely nothing!
Review 5:We loved everything about our stay at the Three Pigeons. We had room number 1 and it was absolutely beautiful! Everything we could possibly want was provided. Even when we asked if we could have breakfast a little later (we had ben at a family celebration the night before and knew it would be late one) we were able to choose out time and it was the best freshly cooked full English I've ever tasted!!
Review 6:Water pressure for shower poor but plughole blocked so still tried to flood bathroom!
Review 7:Great food & friendly staff Lovely, large patio area for sitting out in nice weather despite central location
Review 8:Breakfast on sunday did not start until 9-15 and was going to silverstone so had to skip that. Thats the only one minor fault I had
Review 9:Great hotel superbly decorated and friendly staff will stay here again
Review 10:Shower cap needed, certainly in Room 3, in view of the lovely rainwater type shower. Sorry forgot to mention this when leaving!
Review 11:Everything really - old world charm added to comfort and good service.
Review 12:The only 'negative', but it certainly didn't take away from our stay, was the room temperature. Even with the windows open and fan going the temperature was too hot resulting in a restless sleep for all.
Review 13:Everything it had to offer! Lovely staff, exceptional food - we had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast (including hot and cold choices) and the room was both very nice and clean.
Review 14:We were leaving early for the Grand Prix as we're all of the other guests but were not offered a earlier breakfast start time so paid for it but did not have it. Our room was above the kitchen and the extractor fan was on in the kitchen until late at night and stopped us from sleeping and we had to ask for them to switch it off which they did half an hour later. The room was extremely hot which made our stay very uncomfortable. Having to have the window open to reduce the heat in the room, was like being at the Formula One track on race day from the noise of the cars outside! To improve the room for future guests - replace the noisy fan in the room and invest in some air conditioning. This was not a cheap room and we feel that we did not get value for money.
Review 15:Location and garden were great. The room was really nice if a little small.
Review 16:Location. The breakfast lady has a great sense of humour and welcoming approach. All bar/restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Great food. Will definitely recommend this establishment and stay there again.
Review 17:Very good room, Comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a meal in the evening, quite overpriced but tasty and well presented. Welcoming and friendly staff.
Review 18:No reception, you have to check-in in bar. No electricity adapter from euro to uk. Rather expensive for Banbury.
Review 19:Only 3 rooms in the hotel, very nice, good furniture, modern design. Full english breakfast in the morning, good bar at ground floor. Close to bus, train, coffee plant
Review 20:The reception area is at the bar, so we had to disturb a group of drinkers to check in. The room was very warm as it's in the eves. The Wifi was sporadic. Dinner was expensive for the bar location.
Review 21:Very friendly staff, efficient, polite and welcoming. The beds were really cosy, with crisp white linen. Lots of hot beverages supplied in our room, which was clean and newly decorated. The bar staff were friendly, dinner was delicious and the breakfast was huge and beautifully cooked.
Review 22:The down side of our stay was no central heating the first day was very cold; no water glasses in the room; no mineral water in the room; we struggled with out luggage getting it up and down the stairs. the telephone didn't work in our room we had to make personal calls in the bar.
Review 23:Very pleasant and accommodation staff; Restaurant food was excellent and served in a pleasant manner, Mika and Caroline gave us exceptional service! Bar and room decoration was lovely! We attended a wake in the grounds of the hotel and it was excellently done.
Review 24:Having to go home!
Review 25:Very comfortable quiet and dark room, conducive to a very good sleep! Friendly and polite staff couldn't do enough. They DO serve Sunday lunch! Lovely old pub with character and lovely breakfast made to order.
Review 26:Nothing, loved the whole experience.
Review 27:We stayed for two nights, from Thursday to Saturday morning. Couldn't fault the friendliness of the staff, the dining was superb, the room was fantastic, the bed comfy, the facilities excellent.
Review 28:Location was central but on a major junction.
Review 29:It was a cosy, charming, characterful and comfortable place to stay and much quieter than you might think due to it's location! The decoration was stylish and up to date and very welcoming.
Review 30:Small car park, but not much that can be done about that.
Review 31:Staff were very good, food excellent. Nice range of wines, though not too daunting. Nice room and en-suite. Tasty breakfast.
Review 32:Pounding, thudding music until midnight from speakers right outside the room from a completely empty smoker's garden. Staff said it couldn't be turned down or off until the pub closed. Came for a bit of peace and quiet and certainly didn't get it.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Everything.Excellent location with free parking, friendly and helpful staff, very spacious and comfortable room, with excellent bathroom.Great food and beer,in a very buzzy enviroment. The full english breakfast, was fabulous.I really cannot find anything to complain about. Congratulations great stay.
Review 35:I booked 3 rooms. When we got to the hotel we were informed that there were only 2 rooms available!!!!
Review 36:A complimentary drink at the bar and use of the wifi TO BOOK ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION
Review 37:Apart from the manager, the staff (although plentiful) showed very little enthusiasm to be helpful. Could do with a few more experienced heads.
Review 38:Room was clean, nicely decorated and functional. Pub is well located in the centre of Banbury. Food (when we could get it) was very good.
Review 39:The only potential criticism I would see if it had been busier we would have struggled to have four comfortable chairs together but we started early enough for it not to be a problem, it is set more for dining than lounging.
Review 40:On arrival thought the location may be a bit noisy but we were wrong. Delicious lunch, dinner and breakfast. Fabulous New Zealand sauvignon blanc! Room spacious, comfortable, quirky and clean. Will definitely recommend to others.
Review 41:Late night banging from downstairs ?delivery of kegs or from kitchen but bangs woke us
Review 42:Amazing decor, very comfortable and a fabulous breakfast -would definitely recommend
Review 43:Our room (Peacocks) was very well appointed beautifully decorated and with a quirky bathroom arrangement due to the shape of the eave. With the shower in the bedroom and the toilet and sink in separate room down 3 stairs which was a bit worrying for middle of the night calls of nature. Personally I liked this quirkiness as it was done in a very classy way. The check in was very easy and the staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast was ample however there was no choice of fruit and/or yoghurt and a menu on the tables would have helped to make choices too, we werent offered a choice of brown or white toast but got toasted brioche (not my fave) on the side of my cooked breakfast. Little details but they would have made a very good stay excellent. However if in the area again I would definitely stay again.
Review 44:I was their when the temperature was 28/c +. The fan I was supplied with was inadequate to keep the room to an acceptable temperature. (Not bad, when this is the only thing you can complain about, especially when I would have experienced the same in my own home)
Review 45:The staff were very helpful and very friendly. I was able to entertain customers to an excellent standard of cuisine in the evenings at the excellent restaurant attached
Review 46:We stayed here for one night prior to a trip to Silverstone. The Inn itself is very quaint with beamed ceilings and very tastefully decorated. Outside was a lovely private courtyard area with plenty of tables for a drink outside surrounded with lots of raised flower beds. Our room was of a good size with an ensuite with large shower and was very comfy and welcoming. Everything was provided to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable with toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. The day we went to Silverstone we had to leave before breakfast was served but the team very kindly offered to provide us with bacon rolls, croissants and fruit to take with us in the morning. Thanks so much to the team and we're only sorry that our stay wasn't longer.
Review 47:A fantastic stay in a beautiful Inn, where the staff, food and facilities are all brilliant. Highly recommend.
Review 48:Great rooms, great food. Would stay again.
Review 49:This was my second visit on both occasions the rooms were very comfortable and stylish.
Review 50:Hello We had a beautiful room, the staff were friendly and the food was good :)
Review 51:The room was beautiful. Stylish, very clean and very comfortable.
Review 52:no bad experiences
Review 53:The room was lovely and breakfast was very good too.
Review 54:Staff were very nice, room was clean and comfortable.
Review 55:Staff, food.
Review 56:Shower didn't work dirty cups in room
Review 57:Bed was comfortable breakfast was lovely
Review 58:No decaf tea or fresh fruit for breakfast
Review 59:Good on suite
Review 60:Everything
Review 61:Lovely old building, marvellous food, ideal location.
Review 62:none
Review 63:location .great places to eat.
Review 64:We felt welcome, the room was excellent, and we had one of the best hotel breakfasts in my experience. Definitely a good place to stay.
Review 65:Perhaps breakfast should be optional so that the price of the room could be lower
Review 66:hospitality comfortable bed and clean room with character
Review 67:Quality of food Modern comfortable room
Review 68:Breakfast swamped in oil and undercooked.
Review 69:Excellent customer service from the staff who all made extra effort with their 'staying' guests.
Review 70:no fridge or mini snack bar
Review 71:extra sofa bed for my baby was superb !! also changed the date to check in no problem at all. 5 stars to staffs
Review 72:Rooms were too hot fans not adequate to cool the rooms enough.
Review 73:Lovely rooms. Food was excellent. Website pictures doesn't do it justice
Review 74:The noise from the traffic was horrendous non stop day and night.
Review 75:The room was immaculate staff pleasant.
Review 76:Great dinner menu especially fixed price option. Helpful nature of waitress, especially at breakfast.
Review 77:Beautiful rooms great good great staff great beer
Review 78:tv kept cutting out in the bar, and in the morning I had to bang on the kitchen door to get breakfast as only 1 member of staff on. wi-fi appalling, wasted around 2 hours in the afternoon trying to work in the bar, eventually found a spot where it worked ok.
Review 79:food, ambience, quality of room, staff.
Review 80:Room relatively loud from the bar/restaurant. Room was very warm on the first night, even with windows open and all radiators off.
Review 81:Good size rooms and well decorated. Good quality breakfasts
Review 82:It's our second stay at the Three Pigeons and once again we were very impressed. The service and food is absolutely excellent. The staff are a credit to this great hotel.
Review 83:We stayed in a room with high beams and found dust in a few corners and cobwebs dangling from ceiling, however it was dealt with very promptly and to our satisfaction, so I expect they would overcome any shortcoming given their great attitude to service.
Review 84:Very friendly and extremely helpful staff (nothing was too much trouble), the room service was very nice and the room cosy. Breakfast was excellent. We expected the extractor fan noise from previous reviews but didn't mind it on a windy night. For us the place was relatively quiet given the pre Christmas celebrations.
Review 85:The location, on a very busy junction, meant that a distinct traffic hum could be heard most of the time. Our room (3 dovecote) also had the kitchen extractor fan noise, seemed to be channeled through the old chimney breast in the room. Only intermittent and not on during the late evening/night.
Review 86:Beautiful old building (but beware low beams in reception!). Very warm, comfortable room with all usual modern facilities, and free wifi. In easy walking distance of all the facilities and sights of Banbury. Staff very welcoming. Breakfast cooked to order and spot on.
Review 87:The bedroom (Dovecot room 3)had annoying generator noise from kitchen vents during day, but thankfully these were turned off late at night. To ensure no headaches...needed to concentrate on the very low ceilings and beams.
Review 88:Cosy, friendly pub atmosphere. Wonderfully clean linen and very comfortable bed and settee area. Great location for walking around the small town of Banbury. Delicious food.
Review 89:Low beams in the bar! Website doesn't do the place justice.
Review 90:Amazing Rooms Brilliant Decoration Friendly Staff Really lovely Breakfast Very Welcoming
Review 91:The room was comfortable and charming with lots of drawer and hanging space. The decor was totally in keeping with an old Inn. The food was excellent quality very well cooked.
Review 92:room was really hot and stuffy, having the walk in shower in the main room instead of the large bathroom was a bit odd.
Review 93:food, location, rooms, staff, cleanliness and ambience of the local. Staff were very friendly & knowledgable; locale was very central, handy for shops and exploring area.
Review 94:Pre booked meals were not as requested. No telephone in the room. Too hot and noisy. No parking for guests. No glasses in the room.
Review 95:the room was very well presented. Clean, good coffee making facilities, very nice toilettries and biscuits.
Review 96:There is no reception and the staff were very busy when we arrived during their busy diner service but they were very helpful.
Review 97:A very quaint old coaching inn, the rooms are very tastefully decorated and surprisingly quiet given the busy pub restaurant below. We ate at the restaurant which was also very good.
Review 98:Only one bath towel between two - meant to ask for another but forgot until it was too late!
Review 99:The restaurant was really nice. Good food and well paced meal. Room and Bed very comfortable
Review 100:Absolutely everything. Nothing to fault at all! Room was top notch. Food was excellent. Staff were attentive & helpful It is one of the very best hotels we have stayed in!
Review 101:We loved everything!
Review 102:Firstly we would like to congratulate the staff for their excellent service. They were very friendly and professional. The Three Pigeons was very tastefully refurbished - the combination of oldie worldie and contemporary styling made it unique. The photos on your website don't really do the rooms justice, as the bedroom and bathroom were of an incredibly high standard. We dined at the restaurant on the Friday evening, and the quality of the food was great, as were the breakfasts.
Review 103:Low beams for tall people
Review 104:Spacious and stylish rooms. Food expensive but excellent. Outside seating area clean and well maintained. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming.
Review 105:Nothing to dislike
Review 106:The staff were wonderful and welcoming allowing us to check in early. The rooms were beautifully decorated spotless and comfortable. Shower and bathroom lovely. Food like masterchef beautiful presentation and delicious
Review 107:Nothing not to like.
Review 108:We liked everything about it, especially the restaurant where the food was top quality. The staff are also outstanding. Nothing too much trouble. The room was delightful.
Review 109:The room was a little stuffy due to lack of ventilation but this didn't affect my stay and both fans or heaters were available for those who needed them. The TV was a little small to see from the bed but I used the easy chair so not a major issue.
Review 110:He room was immaculately clean and with very high end furnishings and shower room. The tv was Samsung flat smart tv and toiletries by rituals. Very soft luxurious cotton towels and high thread cotton bedding. Good to have an easy chair for watching TV. Wonderful food, drink and fabulous breakfast. Good quality local produce used and pub was packed out on sat night for both diners and drinks.
Review 111:Location is right in the centre of Banbury but remarkably was reasonably quiet
Review 112:Quaint old pub with low ceilings and good real ales. Recently refurbished rooms to a very high quality with everything you need provided
Review 113:We loved the The Pigeons Inn. Our room clean, spacious and felt really comfortable. The food was really excellent and we ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay. We were really pleasantly surprised with the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 114:Don't judge a book by it's cover... it's not in the best position as it's on a busy crossroads, but don't miss out - go in! You will not be dissapointed and once you're in you don't hear the traffic at all. The staff, the room, the food - everything was first class! The owners have spent a fortune but it's been well spent and it just works! We had a very lovely stay, will be coming back and telling all our friends. Thank you!
Review 115:Banbury itself was a little disappointing.
Review 116:The hotel lived up to expectations whereby the food service and accomodation were both first rate. Banbury was handy to get to and good location to access the Cotswolds.
Review 117:A couple of the staff we encountered were a little young with no knowledge of the menu or wine list or matters generally
Review 118:The room was of an excellent standard as was the bathroom. The pub and restaurant were very pleasant
Review 119:Very minor issue, but only instant coffee available with breakfast. Inconsistent with the of the facilities and easily sorted.
Review 120:Great welcome, very nice rooms. Staff great. Just what I was after and the price was right. Better than one of the big names anyday
Review 121:Everything. The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great as was the ambience,
Review 122:Beautiful room and decor
The Fine Print
