Reviews for Apanemo
Review 1:Everything is perfect.
Review 2:The hotel is completely stunning with spectacular views of the Caldera. It is set on the rim of the Caldera facing the sea and the volcano. No wonder the location is always used for photo shoots. The views are spectacular, the rooms are beautifully designed and very comfortable, and the service is fantastic. The hotel exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it.
Review 3:Double bed, mattress was too hard. Swimming pool should show depth of the water, no signs to say this
Review 4:Beautiful views all around. Breakfast really good, lots of choice. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 5:We loved the fabulous view, the breakfast with so much variety that it was hard not to overeat, the peaceful atmosphere, the free rides to local restaurants, bus stops, and places of interest; the closeness to the archeological site of Ancient Akrotiri, the attractiveness of the hotel itself, the family who owned and ran it, and meeting the 89 year old grandfather who started it.
Review 6:The beds a little hard
Review 7:Total helpfulness of all the staff, went the extra mile to make our stay as great as it could be. Location, not in the major tourist areas but great views and good to be in a peaceful setting. Great nearby value restaurants. The cats.
Review 8:The friendly welcome we received from Spiros, his family and staff at their lovely hotel. They were helpful and wanted to ensure we relaxed during our stay. Buffet breakfast was good with a variety of food to choose from. The hotel, rooms and pools were very clean and well kept. We loved the location of this hotel and due to its position, gave fantastic panoramic views of the caldera and much more. Although Spiros kindly offered a drop/collection service to and from a few local restaurants, we much preferred to walk into Akrotiri village or just around the coast to Aeolos and one or two others in the area, all of which we enjoyed and would recommend. We did hire a car after a couple of days but not strictly necessary. A lovely holiday and will definitely return!
Review 9:It was probably one of the best views and spacious room.... It was one of our most Fantastic holidays ....The staff ( especially Isabel :-) ) were super hospitable - I recommend Apanemo for a wonderful stay in Santorini ....
Review 10:Staff was on and off - seemed helpful at times - felt like I had to ask a lot of questions to get an answer (regarding booking rentals, getting a transfer by their own staff to another location etc. Felt like I wasn't getting the full truth and that they are trying to figure out ways to make a profit here and there (for arranging things on your behalf). Inconsistency - we arrived early so we had to wait for our room to be ready (which is fine). We were offered coffee and juice upon arrival. 2 other couples arrived at the same time and they were offered wine/alcoholic beverages instead. Small thing but it didn't go unnoticed. Just strange that we weren't offered the same. Uncomfortable bed and towels. Hard spring mattress and rough towels. All-in-all, it was decent value for the view and what you get. Don't expect high-quality things here.
Review 11:Location - great views of the Caldera. Close to Red Beach and a few mini markets (to purchase random snacks and wine).
Review 12:Nothing at all
Review 13:Amazing staff , welcoming , helpful , and they make you feel like you are at home , nice swimming pool , good sea view , place to relax , and nice room style , good breakfast , actually i like everything , if i wanna visit santorini , i will defenitly choose it again
Review 14:The upward climb from the bus stop to the hotel. But you can call the Hotel beforehand to arrange a pickup, which we didn't know at the time.
Review 15:The view from the hotel, the infinity pool, the friendly staff including the personal touch from the owner.
Review 16:The setting was gorgeous. It was away from the hordes in Fira, with spectacular views. And the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We did not need a car, were able to use the local bus system, and would definitely return.
Review 17:Public Transport is very hard walk, hotel shuttle not avalable at late evening, overall very poor taxi availability at main town Fira makes it an issue to return to hotel.
Review 18:The view is unforgettable!
Review 19:A car is pretty much essential to stay in this location.
Review 20:Fantastic view and beautifully maintained swimming pool with plenty of sun lounges with towels available for pool and beach use.
Review 21:Fantastic location and great staff. Family run business - Spiro & Eleftheria were gracious hosts. Isabelle was fantastic with our children and Nicko always happy to assist. Made themselves available to drop us off and pick up from the bus stop each day. Easy bus ride into Fira. We would definitely stay here next time - highly recommended.
Review 22:I can't really name anything that I did not like.
Review 23:Apanemo has a mindblowing view over the caldera of Santorini. The owner is really friendly. The tomato balls in the breakfast and the freshly pressed orange juice are priceless.
Review 24:The hotel is too expensive for what it is offering. The pool is not very clean. Outside of the view and the architecture of the hotel, everything else is very standard. The hotel can't be considered as a luxury one.
Review 25:Amazing view on the Caldeira
Review 26:The bed and pillows were little hard but we still were able to sleep well.
Review 27:The location and view were spectacular. They were very helpful and friendly and gave us good advice about where visit.
Review 28:All was perfect
Review 29:First of all Spiro and his family and staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home from the first day. They made sure that our honeymoon was one to remember and we left with tears feeling like greeting family. The Santorini wine and fresh food made it so much more special.
Review 30:The breakfast was okay, but not waw. We had to pay 25 euro for a ride to the harbour (after we stayed there for 4 nights with 4 adults and 3 kids).
Review 31:The location, the view, the pool were great !! The staff were very friendly en helpfull.
Review 32:the only thing that could be improved was the breakfast not much variety especially when u don't eat pork but everything else was great
Review 33:We loved the room it was stunning great amazing view pool area was really beautiful the whole hotel was amazing the area was lovely and peaceful
Review 34:As we did not have transport we had to get taxis to travel round, and there was nowhere nearby to walk for coffee or a meal.
Review 35:View was stunning, staff helpful and appartments beautiful. Wifi was a bonus.
Review 36:Perfect location, calm but close to everything. Very nice, helpful and friendly stuff! Clean rooms with stunning view! Definitely would come back again!
Review 37:Hotel and staff were amazing! The staff made it their top priority to make sure you were completely satusfied. Loved the fact that they gave you free rides (drop off/pick up) to the historic locations, beaches and even restaurants in the area.
Review 38:The bed is not very comfortable and the wifi is low.
Review 39:The hotel is very good: amazing view, good rooms, nice breakfast and swimming pool. The staff is incredible, me and my friends felt at home there.
Review 40:electricity cable blocking the view
Review 41:great view, staff super friendly and helpful, beautifully finished (with simple but elegant touches that made the hotel very charming)
Review 42:The decoration and style of the property was impeccable. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I could not have asked for a better experience. A++ !
Review 43:Just a great stay. Incredible ! Everybody of the hotel was TOP and very very helpful. The hotel and swimmingpool have a view you only see once in your life.
Review 44:Very loud noisy starchy sheets. We ended up taking them off as ever time we moved, they rustled and woke us up! A minor issue though!
Review 45:Most excellent location and friendly staff. Can't be beaten!
Review 46:none
Review 47:Really wonderful view, the best of Nature view you can find in Santorini, beautiful Greece House, fit all your desire and imagination for A romantic, peaceful island holiday stay. So nice staff, they make you feel staying home. Amazing view from the room, you can see the sea from your bed, what else do you expect more! Room is super clean, breakfast is good with many selection. Very beautiful swimming pool. Wish one day come back again to spend more time here..
Review 48:Even though it was an apartment there was no kitchenware except a fruit platter and one bowl. We had to buy cutlery and a plate. I had to ask for a jug and cups. We thought there was two beds in the apartment but just one. The staff made up the divan as a bed when requested though. Otherwise it was excellent.
Review 49:The view and pool were exceptional. The staff friendly and very helpful. Even had a complimentary cat!
Review 50:The view is breathtaking, the infinity pool amazing and the staff fabulous. Family run business that make you feel so welcome, they go beyond to make your stay memorable.
Review 51:I think the place could easily be more comfortable with some renovation work in the rooms. I would have liked to have a nicer bathroom
Review 52:The view is absolutely incredible and the manager was very nice and helpful. It is far from the touristy spots and very relaxing
Review 53:I felt the bed was too hard. I did not love the loft.
Review 54:We loved the location of this hotel. I would not have wanted to stay in Fira or Oia - they were way too touristed. The view over the caldera was exceptional. The pool area was exceptional. Some tourists may over look the pre-historic ruins of Akrotiri but they have been the best site we have seen on the Greek islands. Finally, if you want suggestions on a great restaurant, try Cafe Romatica up the road - it was one of our best experiences in Greece for dining. We also loved our private balcony from our room with the fantastic view of the caldera.
Review 55:Horribly hard bed (low also) with rough sheets and only 2 pillows for 2 people making reading/watching tv in bed not comfy. If they upgrade this aspect the property is great.
Review 56:Views and pool were great. good snack and bar service by the pool.
Review 57:Just got back from an amazing week staying at the Apanemo couldn't of asked for a nicer place to stay, the hotel itself is breathtaking as are the views and the staff are friendly and always happy to help.
Review 58:Breathtaking views from this charming hotel on the quiet end of Santorini. The hotel paid attention to details and cartered to our needs. Unbelievable views from our room. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We will be back.
Review 59:Situated in the south of Santorini, it could be difficult sometimes to make your way around town since buses aren't always on time. Nonetheless, the Apanemo hotel has an amazing view of the city. The rooms are very clean and the staff is very nice. Beds aren't the most comfortable but overall we had a good stay.
Review 60:Beatiful boutique style hotel beautiful family run and wonderful staff highly recommend and if wd come to Santorini again this is where we will stay
Review 61:Staff are great very helpful. The pool and view are incredible. Rooms are big, clean and have nice little touches such as robes big bathroom fruit. Beds could be abit more comfortable. Location for the view is amazing but you are far from town but bus stop is easy to use.
Review 62:Some details on the website as to how to get to the hotel if using public transport.
Review 63:Stunning views in a stunning hotel with absolutely great host and friendly staff. This hotel was picked for its infinity pool overlooking the caldera back to Oia and for a place away from the crowds of Santorini. Its pricetag is extremely reasonable for what it offered. The location is a little away from places but the excellent shuttle service offered by the hotel overcomes any inconvenience if using public transport. This location is just near the most amazing archaelogical site of Ancient Thera which is slowly being unearthed since 1960's ` - an ancient town buried under a volcanic eruption 3500 years ago.
Review 64:Were to start. The whole staff went out of there way to help us do anything we wanted on that side of the island by securing a rental car, taking our bags to and from our rooms, complimentary car shuttles to the local beaches, restaurants and archaeological sites. Top notch customer service.
Review 65:The location and the view from our room was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We were also very impressed with the spread for breakfast which in previous hotels we had stayed in over the week was very mediocre
Review 66:Our shower door was missing so our bathroom floor got very wet and slippery when we showered, the bed was a bit firm!
Review 67:The view is spectacular and the staff go out of their way to help. The pool setting is stunning, just wish the water wasn't so cold!!
Review 68:This is the best hotel experience I have ever had. The property owners were extremely friendly, bringing us wine, driving us around to restaurants and the bus station. The value for the price was incredible and the view is literally unbelievable.
Review 69:The wifi didn't work in our room, which was very bothersome since we didn't have phones that worked. We had to sit in reception or outside on the pool furniture to access it.
Review 70:Love the location, far away from all the tourists. Also love the picturesque setting and views of the Caldera. The staff was more than accommodating and very friendly. The highlight of breakfast was the tomato balls in my opinion. Great breakfast overall!
Review 71:There wasn't really anything not to like however an enhancement would be to have coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. This is a great place to stay
Review 72:The views were stunning , the staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a great little taverna just around the corner and breakfast at Apanemo was lovely.
Review 73:everything is perfect. The only thing is location. is better to stay in Hotel Apanemo with renting a car in Santorini.
Review 74:If you love to have nice photo taking in Santorini, Apanemo is a very good choice! The hotel is very beautiful! they have infinity pool, and plenty of public area. You can see both sunrise and sunset in the hotel~ Rooms is nice and comfortable. We took a lot of photos in hotel as the white apartment is really beautiful ! compare to he hotel I stay in other place in Santorini, Hotel Apanemo is valuable and we enjoy a lot!
Review 75:The hotel was great and the staff were very helpful the views were breath taking. Because this hotel is a little out of the way they offer a free service to take you and pick you up from near locations of to the bus stops which we found to be very helpful. The hotel was spotless great size rooms and the pool area although small was good with the same stunning views. It was nice to be on a quieter part of Santorini and one we will most definitely visit again.
Review 76:Nada!
Review 78:the bed design in two separated small beds that putting next to each other made a big hole in between and the matress was very hard, the cover of the bed was poor and hard like paper
Review 79:beautiful property, the view is amazing, the yard, the personel was helpfull, clean place, the bathroom was big and pleasant
Review 80:The bed and pillows are a little uncomfortable and there was nothing supplied in the room for tea and coffee whoch would have been a nice touch seeings it is a little isolated from the closest town.
Review 81:Great location, amazing view, very clean and tidy.
Review 82:Hate to put anything negative bc the owners are so kind, but...Pillows and beds are a little hard. Lack of space/storage.
Review 83:We were so glad we stayed here instead of the crowded towns. The views were amazing and this hotel was charming. We liked this hotel better than the two 5 star hotels we stayed at in Athens. Look at the other reviews- not many places have scores like that:)
Review 84:The owners and staff were incredibly friendly! Helped us create an itinerary and travel plans whIle we were there, dropped us off at the bus station and recommended fabulous restaurants!
Review 85:Nothing.
Review 86:We stayed on honey moon after getting married 2 days earlier. It's quiet and away from the mass crowds of Fira and Oia. The views are beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I couldn't reccomend a better place!
Review 87:Mosquito nets for the windows would be nice. bathroom dated with no real shower (bath tub with too-short shower head)
Review 88:Stunning views, beautiful pool. Great hotel set-up, almost like a little village. The owners are one family and you can tell that their family business is dear to them. Friendly and personal. Loved it.
Review 89:None.
Review 90:The room is spacious and comfortable. The family that runs the hotel are very friendly and accommodating. And the view from the hotel is stunning.
Review 91:The bed were very hard
Review 92:Loved everything about this hotel and staff, including breakfast that was offered. Location is quiet, intimate and the view is beautiful.
Review 93:I came to Apanemo with such high hopes and left so so disappointed. We stayed in three hotels during our 11 day trip and this was by far the worst. None of the staff smiled or greated you bar Spiros. The room was ok, but the cables surrounding the TV were dangling and exposed and quite dangerous ( I wouldn't feel comfortable if I had kids around it ) the fridge was broken so it meant we had no cold water to drink, breakfast was basic and the only thing that changed was the sweet as it alternated between doughnuts and cake. It was so far out in the sticks, you had no option ( if you had no transport ) to use a small mini mart 4/5 minute walk down the road, I was charged 37euro for two 1.25l bottles of coke, one 2 litre bottle of water and her 'homemade cake' and 'homemade wine' which when cracked open turned out to be filled with little black beetles. All in all, I wouldn't stay here again. There are many more better quality hotels with better pools and views for less money.
Review 94:The mini, and I means mini infinity pool was pretty to look at, even though it was turned off and freezing cold.
Review 95:Spiros is a terrific host, and so were his parents. Nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast was great. Spiros's private taxi service was very helpful, dropping us at a nearby restaurant almost every evening. Views were fantastic.
Review 96:A powerline runs across our view from our hotel room.
Review 97:The location because it was on the opposite side of the island to Oia, which is wall to wall hotels and people. So the view is towards the rest of the island. Great breakfast as well.
Review 98:A little bit off the beaten track so, for anyone who cannot walk too far, it's probably not the best place to be. However, if you hire a car, then there's no problem. The local buses run every half hour but you have to walk down the hill for the nearest bus stop.
Review 99:Gorgeous views from our Superior apartment. Lovely clean room and very good breakfast. Spiros and family are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay a happy one.
Review 100:Bed was uncomfortable and could use replacing.
Review 101:Location was perfect and view of the caldron stellar. Cute accomodations and nice having your own patio. Staff was very accomodating of our needs (early check-in and laundry service) and gracious. Breakfast included was satisfying.
Review 102:Breakfast was limited and repetitive Close to busy road Lack of tea/coffee in room
Review 103:Location Layout of site Pool Staff helpfulness Able to walk to some local restaurants
Review 104:Everything was great. The hotel and Santorini are like a paradise! But one thing surprised us. The hotel is placed next to the not so busy road and it seems that is no problem at all but if you like open window at night the occasional scooter might wake you up because these vehicles are probably fitted with a jet engine :).
Review 105:Great staff, the view from the pool area and the breakfast area was great and awesome! The pool is very fine even though it is a little small; we really enjoyed swimming and tanning. Spiro, the owner, was extremely helpful (e.g. he arranged car renting for us at midnight) and friendly. And also Isabelle ...we felt like at home. Wi-fi worked very well in our room, the breakfast was fine and the location was nice and peaceful. We do loved this place and we wish to come back for another visit.
Review 106:The bed was very hard and so were the pillows. The wifi was spotty.
Review 107:Loved the staff and view (aside from the thick electrical wire that you see when looking out at the beautiful sea). The premises themselves were beautiful and the breakfast was very good—all you need to get your fun days started. Spiros was very helpful with all our needs.
Review 108:it is a little bit out of town, so renting a car or quad may be wise. we didn't and fared just fine by walking, taking the bus and on the rare event a taxi.
Review 109:the staff were so helpful, they even did a small load of laundry for us. the family who runs the place is so kind. the pool and view are gorgeous and the rooms are spacious and very clean. we honestly loved it!
Review 110:The room was huge, everything is new, well designed and super clean. It's very quite and we had all the privacy that we needed. Spiros, the owner, was very nice and helpful, as well as the all staff. The view from the pool and the rooms are amazing. Highly recommended!
Review 111:A word of warning: the view will be hard to photograph due to powerlines. Despite that it is still a marvellous view. The pool wasnt clean. It was near then end of September, close to the end of the season but it would have been nice to see a clean pool. Our shower had no door therefore the floor was wet. Much like every Greek bathroom Ive been in The good things is that the towels are changed daily.
Review 112:The view. So beautiful! Be prepared to sit outside and just marvel. Breakfast with a smile :-) And watch out for thise Greek donuts! Owner, family and staff go above and beyond! Never have I experienced such hospitality! Always clean, you will never worry about anything. The property is on the tip end of Santorini. You will need transportation. From the port transport can be €20 same amount for car hire for 1 day, plus you can return the car at the port. Apanemo can help you with car, quadbike hire, taxi, anything! Theyre are awesome! Minnie the dog ^_^ The locals. They too are the friendliest bunch. Try having a meal or two at the nearest tavern over the hill, they too will go above and beyond!
Review 113:Outside areas and bathrooms beautifully completed but bedrooms in need of a little updating.
Review 114:The location has spectacular views of the Caldera and is near to Akrotiri, a little off the beaten track so a car would be a good idea but quiet and peaceful.
Review 115:They hotel is simply superb. The staff are as wonderful as the back drop of the volcanic islands. The hotel sports a beautiful pool with room for all guests. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone
Review 116:The only small and minor thing that could be improved was more comfortable pillows/bedding.
Review 117:The place is perfect. We enjoyed the gorgeous view, the location, the breakfast and the employees. Spiros is the manager and owner who is great. He goes above and well beyond to make your stay just right. You will not regret booking here. Great restaurants near the hotel - just ask Spiros. We rented ATV which was delivered to the hotel for 25 euros/day. Spiros arranged everything.
Review 118:Family owned and run. Everyone very friendly and attentive. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts. Spotless. Excellent pool. Fantastic views over the caldera.
Review 119:Poor wifi signal at the rooms
Review 120:Friendly staff. (Spiros is simply the best!). I had an IT glitch with my iPad and he made his best to solve it. Thanks! Nice location, quiet. Excellent facilities (the swimming pools is a beauty) Good breakfast
Review 121:Akrotiri is a nice place to stay far from the crowdy towns like Fira or Oia. The views of the caldera from the rooms are awesome and the staff is gente and helpful. The cleaning is excellent and no noise at night.
Review 122:Having to leave!
Review 123:Our stay at Apanemo was absolutely perfect. Everything was spot on.. the views and the pool were to die for. The rooms were so lovely, an adorable split level room with little stairs leading up to the bed. Spiros the owner was one of the nicest people we've ever met, so helpful! Wi-fi worked very well in the room, the breakfast was great and the location was nice and peaceful.
Review 124:Very hard beds Not enough deck chairs - only 6-8 for a place with over 20 rooms meant they were impossible to get. Not a very convenient location if you don't rent a car for the whole stay - 15 min walk into Akrotiri and irregular bus service back to Akrotiri in evenings. Not very nice breakfast
Review 125:Great view Nice rooms Nice pool area Helpful owner
