Review 1:Definately not a 5 star, inbetween 3 and 4 at a push. There were ants in the room, toilet paper wasn't replaced, bathroom was tiny, swimming pool seemed dirty. Staff were not great. Breakfast was very poor. Wouldn't recommend it if your looking for a nice hotel to stay in

Review 3:The shower should be better cleaned, especially the mould formation at the shower head and on/in the silicon joints in the shower.

Review 5:As with all hotels if they call a taxi for you to Marlioboro it costs around 40-50 000 rupiah whereas if you hail one yourself outside it costs 10 000. With the pound being so strong against the rupiah this wasn't much of a difference but something to be wary of!

Review 6:All the staff that we met in our 3 night stay were absolutely wonderful and absolute asset to this hotel. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for us. Due to flight times we arrived at the hotel around 10 am and check in wasn't until around 2pm and upon speaking to a lovely lady called Indan this was not a problem. She let us leave our bags in the lobby area and said we could use the spa and swimming pool whilst they prepared our room and that it should be done by 11am. She came at 11am and personally delivered our keys to the pool area which I thought was so kind of her. The room was as requested on a high floor and with a nice view of the city and we had even been left with cakes and fruits! The room was comfortable, modern and spacious. We booked a driver to go to the temples via the booking office downstairs which cost 700 000 rupiah although this was around 200 000 more than a local taxi driver had offered us but it was easy and convenient to do this via the hotel and was not worth the extra hassle to save a few pounds. The driver was professional and arrived in a timely manner. All the staff at the desk were very helpful in providing info about the local area Natali in particular. There is a large supermarket across the road and lots of cafes etc within walking distance. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice. We ended up staying an extra night because we loved it here so much! Overall a lovely experience and I would recommend this to anyone staying in this area.

Review 7:The staff were extremely helpful and arranged and negotiated the cost of a private tour for us at short notice. The property is also deceptively impressive with good facilities and decor. The cost of food at the hotel was also very cheap when compared to other high end hotels we stayed in during our visiting Indonesia.

Review 13:I can't rate this hotel highly enough. From check-in to follow up on queries/questions, this hotel exceeded my expectations. The hospitality of each and every member of the hotel (whether receptionist, the travel agent, the cleaners, bar staff or restaurant staff) everyone acknowledges your existence and that more than makes this place worth staying. the hotel is extremely well kept and is very clean. Beds are comfortable and post check in goodies/attention you receive is what I expect from the 5 star. Although in saying this, the Javanese hospitality we received at Grand Aston, is truly GRAND. I would like to stay here again.

Review 24:The hotel charges extra the capuccino during breakfast. The variety for breakfast is good, but the taste is not. We had massage, which was ok, but the spa staff did not speak almost any English. We were given different price from the one charged in reality (the price list was not mentioning any faxes in addition, and one would assume the aré final prices. We also asked the staff and they confirmed the price of the catalogue)! In the end we were charged about 21 percent more (taxes). We complained but they just said sorry our staff does not speak good english! Last, but not least, as we were having the massage, we would need 1 hour extra to Check out. But We were told ir is not possible and they said they could give us 30 minutes. We went 10 minutes after and they had already deactivated our card!

Review 25:The welcoming was the best...the woman ay the reception was very nice and they made a special arrangement in the room for our honeymoon. Ok location, there is also a restaurant attached to the hotel. Room is not bad, but no nice view. If they change 90 percent of the staff then it could start becoming a good hotel.

Review 29:The hotel located at the main road with many choices "lesehan food" in the night. Modern ambience with friendly and very helpful staff.

Review 30:Pool is tiny and turbid. No attendant and no service at the pool bar. Restaurant service and quality is shaky and key items have not been available (Mexican restaurant cannot serve cocktails because there is no tabasco?!?!?). Gym is tiny tiny. Front staff is rude and i.e. refuses to let us drop our luggage in the room before paying for the whole stay cash in advance despite having no ATM nearby.

Review 44:Upon checkin, the reception had the room charges for three nights settled. On the evening of the third day, housekeeping knocked my door to give me a note from hotel management hoping we check out at 12:00 the next day. On the morning of the checkout date, at about 11: 20, housekeeping called us to push us by asking what time we would check out!

Review 45:What I didn't like of this hotel is probably the staffs, the front liners to be exact. What I experienced is that there are only a few concierge, thus when we arrived at this hotel for the first time we need to carry our luggage by ourselves. Another experienced is that the receptionist that served us is not very polite, I'm not sure whether he is really a receptionist or not because he's not wearing the usual uniform.

And as a non smoker being spoken to like a child that i will be charged 2jt if there are any signs of smoking was insulted considering i requested a non smoking room. Parking staff need wake up and get there act together considering you give them the tools to do the job correctly ie. uHF radios. When I am parking my 1.4 milliar audi mobil i would expect proper directions and not put in a position that would damage my car. Then have to get upset at the staff cause i cant exit my car without damage to the glass panel and to mention the car door. Not impressed

On our last day we were allowed to come back to the hotel and have a swim and shower before our flight. The hotel is very clean and all the facilities are of a high standard.

Review 58:The breakfast have a lot of choices. There are 4 restaurants and all are good. The room is very clean. There is a travel agency in the hotel. They are very useful so we chose 4 trips with them. (Borobudur sunrise, Prambanan sunset, Mount Merapi sunrise jeep tour and Mount Merapi sunrise trail). The staff is very nice. Even if they did not understand very well sometimes, they did their best to answer to our request.

The hotel located on a shopping street whoch i found far more authentic than tje very touristic Maliboro. Just 3-5 minutes down the street there is mall with good eating options for a fair price. We liked the one called Happy Bea.

Review 64:The essential oil that was burning in 8th floor was choking. The hotel lobby has a strong floral smell that makes me sneeze. I wrote an email to the hotel asking if they will cancel my credit card bill that I paid as deposit but they did not reply. I hope they will not double charge me!!! If they do, I will be very disappointed!
