Reviews for Iris Hotel

Review 1:The shower door was broken and wouldn't close. We also couldn't regulate the temperature and could only get scalding hot water. I notified front desk who had someone look at it however upon our return nothing was fixed. Our friends stayed in a room beside us and there was a light that would not turn off throughout the entire night, that did get fixed for the second night.

Review 2:The room was great apart from the mattress which seemed old and lumpy and in need of being replaced.

Review 3:Great location on the promenade, plenty of free parking opposite the hotel, great breakfast and polite staff.

Review 4:Staff very welcoming & friendly. Hotel in great location for shopping & Venue Cymru. The evening meal was of excellent quality for the money paid. The hotel was very clean & comfortable. This would be our first choice hotel should we stay in Llandudno again. Well done The Iris & all the staff.

Review 5:The cooked breakfast was served very quick not giving you enough time to go and get cereals toast or fruit juice. But was very nice anyway.

Review 6:Hotel was lovely clean. Staff were very polite. Good location for theatre.

Review 7:Lock on rooms very fiddly. Poor alternative breakfast for my young son I ask if he could just have sausages and bacon as he doesn't eat beans or tomatoes etc so they gave him one rasher of bacon and one sausage

Review 8:Staff very helpful and polite .adequate rooms

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:I read the very harsh reviews people left for hotel but still thought it looked good value for money. I was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel was great. I usually stay in 5 star hotels but would definitely come back if I go to Llandudno. I would like to mention that the heating in the annex works perfectly you just have to read the sign on wall on how to switch it on at radiator taps. The breakfast was of numerous good quality products. Your met with a friendly staff member who has a genuine smile on her face called micheala who is also very helpful. The hotel is bang in the middle of the promenade and Is a nice looking building from the front and has a nice clean comfortable deco inside. The girl collecting your order for breakfast is a very nice pleasant girl even though early still has a warm smile in morning.

Review 11:The beds were comfy but there was no mattress or pillow protectors which was a little strange and only one double duvet on the bed. I asked for an extra one and it was no trouble for the gentleman at the desk to get me one which I thought he was very helpful.

Review 12:every thing. The staff were charming. the hotel was lovely and warm and clean. We payed extra for the evening dinner, although a little pricey was excellent, but the dinning room could have been a little warmer.

Review 13:We were in the annexe and the first room was VERY small (I know it warns you but it was still a shock) Socket didn't work for kettle, shower wouldn't adjust, even the front desk man came to try it, eventually moved us to another room in annexe, which was better, but this one the heating failed, which they repaired and guess what the shower was faulty too. To top it off as we walked into the hotel through the back door for breakfast a RAT passed us on its way out from the hotel. Need I say more !!!

Review 14:Location is ideal for the front.

Review 15:Nothing.

Review 16:Great staff, facilitues, food and location. We booked late as a last minute 2nd night in the area. Booked the budget double but got a suprise upgrade to the main hotel free. Well decorated and looks recently refurbished. Even without the discount this is a great value hotel. Will defo return.

Review 17:The shower instructions didn't match the shower unit, but did get it to work in the end. In room 103 Some fruit for breakfast would be nice.

Review 18:Very friendly staff and always willing to help Good food and breakfast was hot and enjoyable. My wife asked for fruit on the second day as she didn't want a full breakfast and she was provided with fresh fruit salad which was excellent

Review 19:We emailed the hotel three times a few weeks before arrival to request the honeymoon suite as we had just got married. They never responded. We asked for sea view, our room though comfortable was in the attic with a tiny window which you had to stand in the bed to see out of. It was new years and no one was serving in the bar, had to go and find a member of staff.

Review 20:Room was comfortable, staff were friendly.

Review 21:the shower was cramped in a corner and the bin lid, as in most hotels, kept coming off in the bathroom.

Review 22:The staff bent over backwards to help me and accommodate me, and they were quick and polite.

Review 23:The two beds were pushed together to make a double, looked good but resulted in ridge in middle, uncomfortable. Better leave as twin beds or a real double. Only complaint.

Review 24:Perfect site on beach front. Very friendly and polite staff.Breakfast was generous.

Review 25:a little mantaince needed phone in room didn't work ,shaver light and stains on carpet. most importantly very bad management skills a bit unorganised .booked a table for four at reception wernt on the list in restaurant and then they were going to sit us with total strangers .food not up to standard for money charged .

Review 26:clean room bed comfy nice sea views

Review 27:I loved the location, right on the front, the staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was modern with all facilities and the bathroom was lovely.

Review 28:Reservation was changed by hotel staff we got down graded and £15 a head meal was awful and wanted to charge extra for entertainment very unhappy with stay

Review 29:The location was where we needed it

Review 30:none

Review 31:my wife is in a wheelchair and the staff were so help full, and made are stay a happy one. and the food was out of this world (thank you very much .

Review 32:Room G4 was not good in the bad weather as it is next to the fire exit door with the wind howling and rattling the under the door all night, also the bathroom needs rethinking as the gap between the shower and toilet is really tight, had we been a larger couple we would have had to embarrass ourselfs and ask for an other room .

Review 33:Good food, nice friendly helpful staff, comfortable and warm.

Review 34:We didn't like the position of the shower but this is just a very small niggle.

Review 35:The hotel is on the sea front but also in a good position for shopping. The staff can't do enough for you and the accommodation is very clean and comfortable.

Review 36:Location.staff helpfullness(there was a problem with heating and receptionist brought us an electric heater which was really handy and we were not cold at all).breakfast great.

Review 37:Please better pillows, l will be taking my own next time

Review 38:What pleasant surprise, the hotel was spotless ,the food, fresh and cooked to order, staff professional and friendly especially Victoria, will definitely stay again.

Review 39:No WiFi in the back rooms yet i was guaranteed presence of WiFi initially. So i was disconnected from the rest of the world. Iris Hotel is a family Hotel and seemed sociable BUT the absence of connectivity spoil the broth.

Review 40:THe SCENERY along the sea and the mountains side good side seeing and reassures against flooding

Review 41:In town for a staff function and anticipated a drink or few,so booked just the one night b/b. The Iris is very handily positioned for all that Llandudno has to offer and is priced at a level that was cheaper than taxi fares to/from home. Win,win!!!

Review 42:Close to town centre and Pier. Comfortable and clean room. pleasant, polite and helpful staff. Wide menu choice for both breakfast and evening meal.

Review 43:Being woken up at 2am by some guest who thought it was funny to shout and break furniture and then have the Police to escort them from the hotel which upset my wife.

Review 44:The staff

Review 45:Everything, lovely clean hotel, very helpful staff, excellent value for money, comfortable and warm, and quiet at night. Food beautifully cooked and served!

Review 46:When you required anything from the bar, you had to go to reception and they went downstairs for the drinks and brought them to you, rather long winded process but it worked, not sure what would happen if it was busy. Also closed at 10.00pm, or earlier if they could get away with it, not really ideal.

Review 47:Staff polite, friendly and helpful, location, handy for the town and restaurants, shops, etc. Good breakfast. Quiet at night, very little noise from road or passers by.

Review 48:bedding lovely untill you see the quilt (not clean needs changing ) better curtains needed we stayed in the anex and people could see in as curtains didnt fit ...

Review 49:very friendly and helpful staff would recomend to friends just a few changes needed ,breakfast fantastic ...

Review 50:Nothing to complain about.

Review 51:Location was good, close to everything you need in Llandudno. The value for money was excellent, and was very clean. Calm atmosphere really help with the whole experience.

Review 52:Rooms need some work, the curtains in our room where falling to pieces, bleach stains all over the carpet, and the shower was a nightmare.

Review 53:All the communal areas, such as the lounge and the restaurant.

Review 54:No bar service after 10pm. Annex is in the back garden. Small radiators for the room size and the heating didn't come on at all in the morning even though it was Dec.

Review 55:Modern and clean. Good breakfast and overall good value for money.

Review 56:Breakfast was fine but ingredients were a bit budget - buy nicer bread and bacon!

Review 57:Room was small (as advertised) but had everything for an overnight stay. Warm, clean and convenient.

Review 58:Going home ☹️

Review 59:We booked the room last minute and paid £31 in total for both of us Breakfast was free, we was given a room but wanted a bath so went back to reception, with a very pleasant attitude the guy said no problem you can have a room with bath, we absolutely loved every minute of our night away and the meal we had in the restaurant in the hotel was devine.

Review 60:We were put into an annexe out in the back car park area of the hotel, which was dark and unwelcoming. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny. The shower only worked on freezing cold or boiling hot - no sensible temperature could be set, so we gave up in the end. Oddly we weren't allowed to park our car in the rear car park, but there did appear to be space all night...we ended up parking on the road instead. The TV didn't work properly - the reception was poor, so the digital channels just went blank every few moments, making it impossible to watch. When we checked out, nobody was on Reception nor did they bother replying to our buzzing/ringing, so we just put the key on the desk and left.

Review 61:We were greeted upon arrival and our booking was confirmed. The hotel was open.

Review 62:i could not fit in the shower as i was to tall, and spoke to reception staff for a plug for the bath and was told they couldn't provide me one!! i couldn't have a shower or bath for 2 days and i was there on a business trip.

Review 63:The shower was a little complicated to operate and confused me!

Review 64:Lovely hotel and staff, the breakfast was very tasty and the bed was super comfortable!

Review 65:We got locked out of our room. And had to call for some one to come and help us get in. Used his key and looked at us as if we had made it up. Took us to prove that our key wasn't infact working. He then opened the door. And left us in a hope that the key would work again! The tv did not work. Neither did the wifi. And I feel the price for the superior room with a sea view was over priced in my opinion.

Review 66:The location was handy for where I needed to get too. The breakfast was lovely and quick too.

Review 67:Room like an overflow room ,although recently renovated , felt like you are in the cellar and too close to the kitchen and in the morning no chance of a sleep in with the noise form other guest having breakfast the staff making breakfast and hotel music playing through the kitchen speakers

Review 68:On the front of LLANDUDNO brill location for shops and the pier

Review 69:The carpet in our room was very badly stained ( looked like bleach had been tipped on it ). Also the temperature in room was far too hot and the TVs signal was bad.

Review 70:Hotel well placed on promenade . Breakfast was also very good

Review 71:nothing going on at night had to go out tv most channels not able to get it could have been the weather

Review 72:it was on sea front near to shops and in summer would be handy for the peir

Review 73:We were put in the basement pretty much! We were right next to the kitchen down stairs, had a loud dripping noise, TV didn't work, staff were very load when outside our room and could hear them outside our window at 1ish in the morning where they obviously smoke! Bathroom had no bath mat! My friend slipped when she got out! Luckily she didn't hurt herself, radiator worked in the room but felt freezing!! Our kettle was in the closet! Would not stay again!

Review 74:Where the hotel is.

Review 75:Although I booked and paid a 100% cost upfront (non-refundable) over 6months prior to my stay, I was sent numerous e mails from Booking.comand the hotel direct saying I had not paid, which as stated I had.Eventually my booking was cancelled because of "non-payment"it took numerous phone calls to get it re-instated. No apology at thehotel, but they did give me the credit card receipt stating the date ofpayment as April 2015, my stay was in November. Does not inspireconfidence in the booking system.

Review 76:Good Location, but hardly a de-luxe room stuck in the attic, as for thesea view we had to take turns to view the sea the roof top window beenso small. As for the shower, neither of us had a clue how it operated, and no instructions, could not control temperature, lucky not to havegot scolded. Won't be returning.

Review 77:When I checked in I was given a box-room behind reception, it didn't have a window & only just enough room to walk around the bed. 2nd room was supposed to be a double but it was very small.

Review 78:Bathroom was cold but very nice layout.

Review 79:We liked the location and the quality and value of the food eg Evening meal and breakfast. The two boys in the restaurant were first class nothing was to much trouble for them there were so polite .

Review 80:The hotel decor was a bit dated.

Review 81:All the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was clean and warm. The breakfast was good value for money and we would definitely stop again.

Review 82:Annex room very small and cramped, shower room leaked water into bed room ceiling all stained ,people doing repairs in rooms next to ours radio on full blast even with our do not disturb singe on very noisy neighbours we did not sleep more than about 6hrs during our two night stay, industrial window cleaner started jet washing our windows just after we had checked in at about 4.30 in the afternoon when we were trying to have a rest, court yard unclean entrance dirty and full of leaves not cleaned out all the time we were there :-(

Review 83:The food at the hotel was good and well presented. tv in room.

Review 84:The shower was absolutely shocking. It looked good but it was hard to turn on. Once on the whole thing felt like it was going to fall off the wall. We chose not to use it again for fear of electric shock.

Review 85:Sea view room was very comfortable. The beds were good .

Review 86:The hotel is well located to the town and theatre.Staff are friendly and helpfull with the hotel and rooms being clean and tidy.Food excellent. Will use again

Review 87:The bed was too big for the room. the windows could have been double glazed as it was very windy making it difficult to sleep.

Review 88:The location was excellent

Review 89:The location of the Annex and how you had to walk through various corridors and across the back yard to get to it. The soundproofing in the Annex was very poor and the noise from fellow guests was very clear and noticeable.

Review 90:Clean with a good breakfast. Reasonable cost.

Review 91:Superior room is not how I would describe the room.stains across the carpet, very dull and mediocre, not at all inspiring.will not look to return.

Review 92:Good location with large room, clean and seaview.

Review 93:No mattress protector on bed or bathroom mat when you stepped out of shower.

Review 94:Good location. In annex room which was small but we knew it would be and this is reflected in the price which was good value. Evening meal very nice and good value.

Review 95:Basement room was very noisy in the morning as it was near the kitchen and dinning room. The bar also had a poor selection of drinks, and closed early.Payment was taken from my card before I checked in,I wanted to pay by cash on arrival.

Review 96:Good breakfast,and friendly staff

Review 97:for £93 it wasnt worth it! i dont pay that much for high class hotels so value for money was a no no

Review 98:room was nice although located rite outside bar area

Review 99:Pipes and brackets for towel rail in bathroom but no towel rail, shower pressure wasn't really there and shower control unit hanging off the wall, curtains wouldn't close properly and one of the clips in the middle broken or come off rail was ft too high to see would benefit from draw strings to open and close them

Review 100:I can only imagine the view would have been good but we arrived when it was dark and left when it was dark

Review 101:we went to the theatre, as a party of 11, this hotel is very situated and the rooms are a good size everything is clean and tidy, single rooms expected single beds got doubles bonus for some of our friends. overall we will definitely go back there, well done everyone.

Review 102:Windows very draughty on a windy night and duvet needs to hang over sides of bed more, when one of us turned over there wasn't enough duvet for the other person. Could do with double glazing the bedroom windows.

Review 103:Lovely food and friendly staff

Review 104:We were told beforehand that it would be small double in an annexe, so we knew what to expect. Very clean, all facilities in room. Excellent breakfast with friendly, helpful staff.

Review 105:the poor side is that the staff did not greet their guests. stayed for 4 nights and we never experienced any of the staff welcome us or saying "hi" or " hello" when ever we enter the hotel. just like we never exist in the hotel or we were invisible. the reception will just look at us. a staff also never smile or greet after we passed by them along the hallway. that's only the negative comment i can give. the rest are good and satisfying.

Review 106:location as its best! only 5-min walk to the rail station. accessible to bus stops as well.

Review 107:no window in one of our rooms G2 bathrooom windowsill dirty shower controls loose, dripped no heating on G2 kept awake in night fan running possibly in kitchen

Review 108:convienient location for theatre room modern features good breakfast although a bit of confusion with order

Review 109:Only downfall the bar closes at 10pm pity as we stayed the one night to go to a show at Venue Cymru which did not end until 10am so pity we could not have a nice drink afterwards in the hotel.

Review 110:Stayed here with friends for one night 12 November 2015 Hotel close the Venue Cymru and spotlessly clean everywhere rooms spotless small but adequate with all facilities including hairdryer. Bed very comfortable and lovely bathroom with wonderful shower. Food - excellent evening meal and breakfast. Staff very helpful and polite. We have booked 2 rooms again for one night in February 2016 again to go to Venue Cymru and will certainly use this hotel in the future and would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

Review 111:Room didn't have a window, OK for the one night stay I had booked.

Review 112:Convenient location, Small room but all facilities needed in place, modern bathroom. Clean. Good breakfast.

Review 113:Not enough clothes hangers in the wardrobe the ones that were there were rubbish ones. No biscuit's just tea and coffee.

Review 114:Nice big bed, comfy. Large room. Lift.

Review 115:the bed was very uncomfortable and had a bottom sheet that was to short to tuck in and spent most of my nights pulling the sheet back into place other than that the hotel was fine

Review 116:the hotel was really nice the staff very pleasant and helpful and our room was fine

Review 117:People coming into dinning room when you are having your evening meal to gain access to the annex.

Review 118:Good value for money. Meals are excellent with good choices.

Review 119:I didn't feel safe in the Annexe. The room was a little cramped. The shower was strange and quite awkward to use, the door would not close..

Review 120:Location was good. Staff pleasant. Breakfast very nice.

Review 121:Check out was 10:30 - far too early for a Saturday, 12:00 would have been better. A full English breakfast was included in the price but it was not the best and there was a very limited selection of cereals, toast/jam. The bread left out for the toast was not great either

Review 122:Our double room was very spacious with a wonderful sea view. The bathroom was clean and modern with a powerful shower. The bed was so comfortable we did not want to leave it! We booked last minute and found the hotel excellent value for money and in a great location.

Review 123:The room didn't have a window so it felt a little stuffy as we couldn't get any fresh air in!

Review 124:Excellent location. Great breakfast and service in the dining room.

Review 125:Staff excellent ,Victoria made us very welcome .Food excellent ,had sea view room.5 minute walk to town .Parking free on Promenade 4pm till 10 am .free parking all day with Disabled Badge on promenade ( first check pay machine's ) Nice Hotel ,lift to all floors ,bar Railway station 10 min walk .Nice Break

Review 126:Only down side were the VERY thin walls in the annex room. Woken up by loud drunks in the adjacent room at 2am.

Review 127:Absolute bargain for the money. Great location, right on the promenade and very friendly staff.

Review 128:Didn't like that if you wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant you had to preorder your meal before 5pm. This was no good to us as we were out at 8am and not back until 6pm didn't want to walk to find anywhere for a meal but had to.

Review 129:The room was clean and adequate for the price

Review 130:The food was a big let down, breakfast was fine but the evening meal even at the discounted price was a rip off, after a poor first meal, all out of packets, I thought you can't go wrong with fish and chips, wrong, second night frozen fish from a supermarket with oven chips. Really let the place down, if the food was at least cooked fresh it would have been a lovely stay.

Review 131:Great location, friendly staff,

Review 132:I didnt like the mattress . The edge was really hard also quilt didnt fit. Also undersheet on bed finished at edge of mattress wasnt going under mattress.

Review 133:The hotel and staff really good. Food in restaurant excellent value for money.central location.plenty of everything.

Review 134:Breakfast a bit small. Had to go out of hotel to get to our room

Review 135:Where the hotel was in centre if resort. Clean room and friendly staff. Easy check in.

Review 136:Not really a dislike. The new modern shower unit was a little difficult to understand at first but once we did it was fine.

Review 137:Great location, or course. We booked the "small double" room in the annexe, but the room was far better than most rooms we've experienced. The room was clean and modern, tea/coffee facilities and breakfast were excellent.
