Reviews for Winchmore Hotel

Review 1:Staff weren.t keen on giving us a wake up call and their alarm had no fuse so didn't work, but they did give us a call in the end.

Review 2:The breakfast and breakfast staff.

Review 3:Nothing not to like.

Review 4:Room was nice and clean and the car park makes a big difference and the breakfast was outstanding everything you needed.staff where there if you needed them first time we've been but we will be going back again.

Review 5:Staff from the hotel were on a night out and were in the hotel. One girl in particular was very drunk and was sick in the bar area in front of guests.

Review 6:The meal choices offered were excellent and fantastic value for money.

Review 7:We had room 16 which is facing the back of the hotel. The room was lovely and clean. The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly. The room was also warm even without the heating on. Our breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices, cereals, fresh fruit, toast and cooked breakfast.

Review 8:Wi fix a bit hit and miss and I woken one morning at 3 am by people who seemed to be still drinking going to the toilet which was situated by my room as was the bar area !

Review 9:Location was excellent and the room was comfy , warm and clean , lovely lounge area and very tastefully decorated , breakfast was very nice !

Review 10:Not really a complaint...the weather was freakishly windy yet warm so our nice cosy well heated room was a bit too hot for me... but I kept opening the fire exit door which kept shutting as the wind was so strong!

Review 11:Most things thanks. Will definately recomend and return.

Review 12:Staff and owners were really friendly and accommodating. Let us keep our room until late afternoon for guests to shower after running half marathon. No extra charge.

Review 13:Off duty members of staff coming into the hotel obviously drunk one of whom vomitted more than once and staggered off. This same girl served breakfast the following morning.

Review 14:Comfortable bed. Good food. Pleasant surroundings.

Review 15:Good friendly reception on checking in, excellent value for money breakfast, Toilet and shower a little cramped for space but value for money very good

Review 16:Staff was kind but some were not able to communicate well in English which led to some confusion for us in getting directions. Room was clean but beds were a little hard.

Review 17:Beautiful location. The breakfast was included and was fantastic.

Review 18:I had to be disturbed twice to move my car in the hotel carpark. Didn't spoil our stay, just a little inconvenient.

Review 19:Friendly, helpful staff, service with a smile. Nice room, lift to all floors. Excellent breakfast, great location, would definitely stay there again!

Review 20:Did not like that you had to book dinner before 3pm and decide what you might want to eat. Ate elsewhere.

Review 21:The hotel was centrally located and had a car park which was essential as my parents are elderly. Disabled room very comfortable.

Review 22:Creaking floorboards (beyond your control) Lack of anti slip mat in shower

Review 23:Very well located Staff extremely helpful Car parking facilities although a little congested at times

Review 24:lovely short break a very comfortable well located hotel with parking was able to stay on the car park after our departure so we could spend a few more extra hours in Llandudno. Also it is a dog friendly hotel which is handy to know pets allowed everywhere apart from dining room(obviously).

Review 25:Unfortunately in order to get this fabulous room, you need to request the disabled room on the ground floor which is accessed by the back entrance and car park. you can get into the main hotel via the back door but you have zero views. The cars park outside your window and to make it worse the kitchen door is your neighbour so basically every morning around 7am the kitchen staff were outside chatting or smoking or making breakfast so you have to keep your windows closed.

Review 26:The family room layout suited us perfectly, with a single bed in a large double room joined to our large double bedroom with a family bathroom. The breakfast was well organised with choice of cold and included full english. the front door opens onto the main promenade of LLandudno which has a huge promenade end to end of the beach.

Review 27:The only thing was the curtains were hanging off on one end by a few hooks and also could do with a Hoover on the pallets.

Review 28:Staff were very friendly. Could not fault the breakfast. Private car park. Fantastic view from room. Having a lift. Location for shopping was great.

Review 29:Tiny bathroom, small rooms but we had 2 bedrooms so somewhere to put cases. Onsite carpark only has few spaces. Would be hot rooms in summer as no fans/airconditioning. Very light curtains - no chance of a sleepin. Older building with stairs.

Review 30:Beachfront location, good choice for breakfast, street parking free after hours, lift but also lots of stairs as older buildings. Suitable for our needs. Seems to be popular with pensioners and older clientele.

Review 31:badly cooked breakfast tried a different combination every day only had one day when eggs where satisfactory plenty to choose from but needs a new chef

Review 32:clean and comfy room, lift, on sea front nice views, car park though not guaranteed

Review 33:The coffee is dire - tea is a much better option at breakfast.

Review 34:location excellent - worth paying for a premium room to have the sea view. Very friendly helpful staff.

Review 35:Pleasantly surprised with the standard of the room, very comfortable bed. Very clean. Breakfast was excellent and staff pleasant and efficient. Our room overlooked the car park which was no problem at all as we hadn't paid for a sea view.

Review 36:A lot of noise from other guests into early hours and early morning resulting in a restless night. Barman too familiar!! Someone parked behind me in car park so I had to get someone to guide me out which was quite stressful.

Review 37:Room was clean and comfortable. Location ideal for venue cymru

Review 38:We had noisy neighbours until 2 am and then the following morning had to wait nearly an hour for breakfast and when questioned they replied "we are very busy" Complained on reception when paying the bill and felt basically that they did not care therefore we shall not be staying again!

Review 39:En suite no lock and handle hanging off but that's a very minor negative

Review 40:Lovely and friendly, car park with cctv, excellent breakfast, exceptional value for money

Review 41:The disabled extention was really nicely decorated and very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for all the shops and local attractions. The food was really good and hot when served.

Review 42:The shower cubicle was the tiniest I had ever seen. There was a fake fingernail in my bed.

Review 43:The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and the reception staff were helpful and friendly

Review 44:You had to book your evening meal by 3.30 on the day to get it for 6, It didn't tell me this when i booked it and i only got to the hotel at 5. Reception only opened at 8.30 and breakfast was at 8.30 and i was on business and had to leave at 8 so that was no good for me.

Review 45:Shower not working correctly either to hot or to cold. Breakfast wasnt the best tinned mushrooms/tomatoes. Staff were friendly enough but in a rush at the end of the stay and find a member of staff have parked us in, excuse was she didnt want to get parked in by other guests! Good customer service.

Review 46:Location.

Review 47:location of room annex close to carpark lack of privacy - passing guests would look into room as they walk by. suggest addition of blind / voile for privacy during daytime. room above- possibly family guest accommodation? squeaky floorboards woken up at 7am sunday morn

Review 48:would rate at higher than the 2 stars for the facilities good standard of accommodation / furniture/ linen. although wasnt a requirement for us was clearly a room set up for guests with limited mobility. breakfast good choices and efficient staff considering a fairly limited and early one-hour window

Review 49:Don't have the evening meal! it was mass produced catering food, tasteless and unappetising. The car parking was awful, had to disturb guests at breakfast to move their cars to let me out.

Review 50:The fact that there was a lift to our floor. The receptionist was so very helpful and caring. The view from our window was worth every penny of the room rate.

Review 51:We booked a room with a sea view which also allowed us to take our small dog but we didn't get it as their was our golden wedding anniversary we were very disappointed

Review 52:Staff tried to very helpful good location food was good

Review 53:Wifi wouldn't work anywhere . Room at back of hotel noisy due to next door hotel pool fans. Dinning room quite dark

Review 54:Staff couldn't be better . Helpful friendly.

Review 55:The triple room had an attached single room which was ideal for our grandson and he loved it. There wasn't anything we didn't like. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. There was a problem with the wi-fi but the ever-helpful staff managed to find a way around it.

Review 56:Only stayed one night. Longer next time.

Review 57:Receptionist very pleasant and helpful, staff very polite. Hotel exceptionally clean and very well decorated. Good parking. I've stayed in worst 5 star hotels. Top marks for The Winchmore Hotel.

Review 58:The electric sockets in the room didn't work so no kettle TV or phone charging available. The rooms are dated and the single rooms have no view.

Review 59:Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location on the sea front.

Review 60:if only there was a choice of evening meal times it would have been perfect. For us to eat at 6 pm is too early and the fact you have to pick your meal by 3 pm( if you do decide to eat in ) is for us a non starter. apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

Review 61:The fire alarm went off at approx. 11pm, and was on for about 5-10mins. No one came to tell us that it was a false alarm.

Review 62:Our Room (No. 8) was exceptionally clean and had all the facilities we required.

Review 63:Wifi a little temperamental...the kids almost had to try and engage in actual conversation with each other for 5 minutes. A terrifying experience for them.

Review 64:Staff are great, good breakfast, excellent location. Would recommend to others..

Review 65:The staff were really friendly and made us feel really welcome with our dogs. Although dogs aren't allowed in the dining room, the staff were more than happy to serve us breakfast in the seating area outside overlooking the beach and the Great Orme.

Review 66:Basically nothing wrong if I had any thing I make breakfast times earlier 8.30 start with young kids is a bit late

Review 67:Great stay with free parking a godsend in Llandudno in august friendly staff lovely comfortable beds

Review 68:everything about our whole stay was just perfect. Our hosts were fabulous , the chef - excellent , staff so friendly and polite. We can't wait to go back.

Review 69:room too small, squeaky floors and squeaky bed, shower water pressure rubbish we were on top floor but that should be no excuse for lack of water

Review 70:location of property, and bed and room tidyed every day

Review 71:Disabled facilties where ideal ground floor access, acess to patio, walk in shower space to move wheelchair in, staff went out of there way to help at all times and very friendly, very short walk to town, venue and the promenade

Review 72:Room was small,Only one shampoo & soap for 5 day stay,No heated towell rail or anywhere to hang damp towells. Had to speak to reception twice over inconsistant shower.

Review 73:Good location on the front. Convenient car park.

Review 74:I dislike all water tap in England, hot water and cold water tap is seperate, so you cannot have warm water. Also , there is no shower tap, not convinient to take shower though.

Review 75:The location is premier, close to train station, the reception is nice and friendly. The view from the window is beautiful. Even room is not big, but it's very comfortable and tidy.

Review 76:No wheelchair access to front of hotel only at the rear. However our room situated at rear.

Review 77:We had a disabled friendly room with attached bedroom for carer. The room was spotless with plenty if room for wheelchair to be used anywhere in the room. Shower room large with modern shower with hot water.

Review 78:being in a disabled room, I think the tea making facilities were placed on a table that was too low for comfort. more comfy chairs /arm chairs would of been very welcome to sit and relax in in the room

Review 79:The room was ideal for the disabled traveller. very clean and spacious. large wet room with shower and walk in bath. Ideal room location, own front door leading out to the car park, short walk for breakfast, lift available to all floors. mobility scooters available to hire. very friendly staff.

Review 80:room was small, toilet didn't quite flush normally and is crammed right next to the bath (I'd hate to be a big person in that bathroom), date decor although breakfast room was more modern, I think they should charge less

Review 81:breakfast was very good, staff were polite, chose this place because it came with parking which was handy

Review 82:Only a small problem which I told the hotel about. The shower in our double room was difficult to mix, so water either too hot or too cold. Hotel will review and fix.

Review 83:Location, friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, having a bar and lounge to go to.

Review 84:This hotel was fantastic, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, definitely good value for money and location and parking were an added bonus. I would highly recommend staying here, there were 13 of us for a hen do and we had a fantastic weekend here!

Review 85:Had 2 rooms and one of the toilets didn't flush properly. Breakfast not very well organized and slow.

Review 86:The location of the hotel was great and parking in back was nice. Staff could not have been more helpful and courteous!

Review 87:Had a bit of trouble with getting an internet signal, but that is my only gripe.

Review 88:An absolutely wonderful place to stay. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The rooms were excellent. I was very pleased to see that they also catered for gluten and lactose intollerant people. The breakfast was wondeful.!!

Review 89:The lift did NOT reach our floor. Dinner was only available if ordered before 3 pm, hence not available on day of arrival. Breakfast did not start until 8.30 am.

Review 90:The bay window in our bedroom, overlooking the sea front

Review 91:Noisy seagulls nesting outside our window. I know nothing can be done about nature but we had to sleep with the windows closed which meant our rooms were too warm

Review 92:Loved the location, just cross the road and you're on the beach with plenty of activities for the little ones. Stayed in the family room which had a double bed and twin beds in an adjoining room. Our breakfast table had our room number on so we couldn't choose where to sit. There was a good selection of food and the staff were attentive. We all had a really good stay

Review 93:The pillows are just to thin very uncomfortable. Needs to have a personality.

Review 94:Cleanliness. Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Good location. Close but not to close to the centre of town.

Review 95:Spotty wifi

Review 96:Very friendly owner/staff. Spent a lot of time visiting in the bar with the owners who gave us a good perspective on the area. Breakfast was excellent. Wifi can be a bit spotty in certain areas of the hotel but excellent overall.

Review 97:For 2-3 hours lots of noise from bedroom above as renewed the floor.perhaps if we were told to warn us.

Review 98:Breakfast,handy location and staff.the single bedroom was very cosy.

Review 99:room could not open window as you got noise from kitchen. Car park a little packed, cars triple parked we didn't go out at night but you would of had a problem getting your car out.

Review 100:Triple bed flat was great, but expected so toilets as stated on website but only one, but Room was great. Staff lovely breakfast great.

Review 101:Parking arrangements are potentially very inconvenient, no on street parking, not even for short periods. The hotel's own car park is often jam packed, the overflow space opposite is a tight squeeze. Breakfast was typical "grease spoon" style, cheap bread tasted like paper.

Review 102:Very friendly staff, efficient and helpful. Room was clean and adequate for a one night stay.

Review 103:booking. coms location advice was rubbish.if the fact that mostyn crescent was one of several all located on the promenade it would have been easier to find.as it was took nearly 1.5 hours from arriving in llandudno

Review 104:nice hotel, excellent and friendly service.

Review 105:The effort made at reception to find us an alternative room when the one we were allocated would not allow my wheelchair bound wife near the toilet. The room we were eventually given was superb with its own wet-room. All of the staff were so friendly.

Review 106:Place was clean and tidy and staff Was really friendly especially mike the owner. Really good value for money and have already booked to go back next year.

Review 107:Being charged £10.00 extra for a sea view. We weren't advised that our bedrooms were on the top floor and the windows were quite small compared to the rest of the hotel. The landing smelt musty. Our towels weren't changed during the 4 days we stayed there.

Review 108:Easy for getting to shops etc. Plenty of parking space. Breakfast was good but a fish dish might have been a change also different fruit.

Review 109:This is my first review of a hotel and I have stayed in many. The Winchmore was an absolutely wonderful hotel. We arrived early on May 24th and Andreea greeted us. Our room was not ready and she let us stay in a sitting room as I was exhausted from not sleeping on the flight from the U.S. The hotel is old, but perfectly upgraded, with beautiful woodwork in every room. When we were able to go to our room I was absolutely in awe. The view from Room #11 looked right out onto the sea. There was a bay window with two easy chairs, a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. I believe we paid a bit more for an upgraded room, but I would highly recommend doing that. We saw the room that some relatives were staying in at a different hotel just up the street, and ours was far superior, and cost less. At night, I was able to open the window to hear the sea sounds and feel the breezes. The night view from the bay window was just as beautiful as it was in the daytime. I knew there was a breakfast provided, but I had no idea how large it would be. We went downstairs and there was a lovely setup of tables. We were given a full breakfast, cooked to order. Amazing! Everyone, from Andreea to the young ladies who served breakfast, were very welcoming. I hope that we will be able to return to our "Treasure By The Sea".

Review 110:I wasn't keen on sausages other than that excellent breakfast

Review 111:I liked everything, I thought the staff were exceptional. The bed was so comfy, it was a single, and I also had a bath in the room.

Review 112:The only thing was not very good reception on WiFi

Review 113:All of the hotel and staff very friendly and helpful room excellent and good choice of breakfast and evening meals

Review 114:Just the artificial flowers in the hanging baskets

Review 115:Andreea checked us in and was so helpful and pleasant. The room was spotless with soft towels and beautiful bed linen. The water was piping hot with an excellent shower. Breakfast was very good

Review 116:Could have done with darker curtains in room

Review 117:Arrived well before check in time we were greeted by a lovely pleasant young lady called Andrea who let us check in early. The room was spotlessly clean and had a sea view that we didn't pay extra for. Breakfast on both days was very good and the dining room was light and airy. Would recommend this hotel

Review 118:Wi-fi stopped working in the evening - and telephone signal was poor.

Review 119:The location and car-park facilities were excellent, the breakfast was good and the family room was large and clean (if basic).

Review 120:Mobile phone coverage in this area is very poor, and the hotel Wi-Fi did nothing to improve it.

Review 121:Generally very good all round, staff all helpful and cheerful, nice breakfast.

Review 122:The whole place squeaked, fair enough its old, but the doors could do with a oiling but the floors cant be helped, Bit whole under carpet in room, seemed to be a floorboard replacement.Had mushroom soup for dinner, taste like packet soup, no wifi at all in building tried different areas of premises but nothing.

Review 123:The bed was comfortable and brekky was good.

Review 124:staff very friendly, great location for seafront and town centre, car park at rear of hotel, great room(room 8) public areas clean and tidy.Andrea on reception was very helpful. We look forward to another visit soon.

Review 125:Comfortable ,friendly staff ,excellent location, traditional ,hidden gem ideal for short break

Review 126:Staff were very friendly room was nice location excellent

Review 127:room location ,bathroom had both shower and a walk in bath, separate from each other ,well done to management and staff, good choice of breakfast, shame there was no wiffi in the room but did not ruin weakend

Review 128:when wife brushed teeth while I was in shower the water turned SCALDING HOT & cud not avoid getting burned in da tiny shower. Breakfast poor - tinned mushrooms & poached eggs hard.

Review 129:Location. Staff friendly. Large wine only £3

Review 130:Only downside to the room was the toilet that was very noisy and not very efficient. On a plus side the noise was limited to a short period only.

Review 131:There was an excellent selection on the menu both for breakfast and the evening meal. Room was very comfortable with great view of the sea.
