Reviews for Athlumney Manor Guest Accommodation

Review 1:We had a great experience at Athlumney Manor Guest House! Our hostess was so kind and helpful. She gave us the keys to the local castle as she has with other guests. What a beautiful treat! My husband and I were able to spend about an hour or so by ourselves exploring and understanding more about the Tower house design. We woke the next morning to a HUGE and delicious breakfast! The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Great place to stay!

Review 2:Everything was fine with the place

Review 3:We stayed in the family room which is hard to come by. Rooms were clean and expected. TV in both rooms, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer and shower gel in the room. Breakfast was outstanding, which you ordered it the night before. Pat and Pauline are lovely people.

Review 4:This is a beautiful B and B where we were made feel extremely welcome by the owner Pat from the second we stepped inside the door. We were offered tea and cake, given some restaurant menus for navan town, some recommendations for places to eat and numbers for local taxi companies. I visited with two friends and we had a double room and a single room between us, both of which were comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. I couldn't fault this place and will recommend to anyone visiting the navan and surrounding area. Thanks again

Review 5:There was nothing to dislike about Athlumney Manor.

Review 6:This B and B was very comfortable and clean, and breakfast was excellent. Our hosts were friendly and helpful but we also had our privacy.

Review 7:There was nothing we didn't like, however, the next morning we could hear some of the guests talking loudly in the hallway, but really the B&B's fault.

Review 8:Friendliness of the staff, when we arrived we were given complimentary coffee and cake and had a lovely chat for a few minutes. The location is also great for Navan town.

Review 9:Seeing a tip jar whereas none of the other B and B's had one.

Review 10:The owner was very helpful in giving us information on what to see and where to eat. Beautiful setting.

Review 11:Talk about Irish hospitality - happy, helpful, bend over backwards to make you feel welcomed! Location is perfect and getting keys to walk around an old castle on our own was great!

Review 12:Not a lot of space in our room. One sitting chair.

Review 13:Staff was extremely helpful. Suggested good dinner location nearby. Good breakfast. Not far from the Dublin Airport.

Review 14:The innkeeper was so very helpful and informative. He had great suggestions on bars/restaurants and their locations. From our room we could see the ruins of an old castle. In the morning, the innkeeper had the key to the castle, and we went to explore the ruins and the nearby cemetery. What an added surprise to our day!

Review 15:No dislikes

Review 16:Lovely B&B, probably the cleanest ever. Not even a speck of dust in the room. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. We would definitely stay again.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Best stay in 8 days!! Pauline and Pat welcomed us like family. Rooms were super clean and beds had great mattresses, big fluffy towels and great Wifi. Everything was perfect including freshly cooked breakfast. It was like having family in Ireland. Walking distance to town. I was vacationing with my adult son so booked a twin room but the family suite was empty and they put us in there so we'd each have privacy. View of Athlumny Castle (which they own) from bedroom. I cannot say enough about this place and will definitely stay here next trip.

Review 19:Small room but okay. Noisy fan in attached bathroom. Very weak breakfast and treats in afternoon were quite "ordinary."

Review 20:Very clean, and very friendly and helpful owners.

Review 21:We liked the warm welcome, friendly couple who gave great advice on local area, fantastic breakfast, great facilities and beautiful guesthouse inside and out.

Review 22:It was the most welcoming of places to stay and Pauline and Pat are the perfect hosts. It is almost like staying with your relatives. Nothing was a problem.Try and make time to visit the castle behind the guest house. A great place to stay for exploring and visiting Tayto park.

Review 23:Pat was very welcoming and his professional approach and attention to detail was impressive. He was interested in ensuring that we got to the best we could - tourism and local interaction wise.

Review 24:Leaving

Review 25:The location was ideal, Navan is a fantastic little town. We would like to thank Pat and his wife for making us feel so welcome, it was very much appriecated.

Review 26:Probably the best B&B I've stayed in as regards set up, hospitality and cleanliness. The breakfast was lovely and the proprietor was welcoming and very helpful.

Review 27:Everything was perfect

Review 28:Lovely well equipped large bright room. The owners Pauline and Pat were first class hosts, being attentive to every detail, providing information on everything to do and see in the area. They also had details of all the local places to eat with recommendations.

Review 29:Pat & Pauline have a very warm & inviting B&B. The house was clean and well equipped. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent and generous. We had smoked salmon, eggs and all the extras. This is a great location for visiting the entire Boyne Valley. In the evening you can leave the car and walk in to Navan for dinner.

Review 30:Nothing really. Except the layout of the entrance that meant I had to lug my luggage a few steps up to the reception but it wasnt that tasking.

Review 31:Lovely B&B. The owners made sure I had a lovely stay. From a cup of tea brought up to my room by Pat and lovely breakfast by Maureen. I stayed in a single and the room was neither cramped nor the bed uncomfy. The room was well heated throughout the night. Shower force was okay & there was hot water at all times. The lock on the door was a bit quirky but worked. All in all, I would recommend this B&B

Review 32:As a single traveller, Navan was a little scary eating out, it would have been perfect if the b&b had somewhere to eat dinner

Review 33:Clean and comfortable and in reach of the town facilities

Review 34:Other guests being noisy and not being told to keep noise down as owners are residing downstairs and couldn't hear any noise.

Review 35:Clean room, fast WiFi, friendly and helpful hosts.

Review 36:This guest house is in a great location in the town. Pat was amazing! He was such a good laugh and a great host! Room was lovely. Will definitely be staying again!

Review 37:We were really well received by the owners, who are extremely friendly and kind. This was the type of experience we were looking for in Ireland. Lots to see and do around the property. I really recommend it.

Review 38:The breakfast was delicious. Offering a wide selection continental, Irish, cereals, home made jams and bread the list was endless. Served to perfection!!

Review 39:Nothing at all - see title!

Review 40:Wonderful welcome from Pat and Pauline. Great attention to detail. Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Our first visit but certainly not our last. Thank you.

Review 41:No bad experiences at all

Review 42:The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, they really couldn't do much more to make my stay any better, room very comfortable and warm, as it was very cold weather, will definitely recommend to friends ,

Review 43:Nothing.

Review 44:Pat is so friendly and awesome, what a gent. Made me feel so welcome. Breakfast was of the highest quality. Bed was so cosy. Wifi was so fast. Location was perfect. Was so reasonably priced. Please stay here!

Review 45:1. Not so good a location from viewpoint of buses, e.g. to Dublin, as some others in Navan. 2. Breakfast doesn't start until 8.00 a.m. which for some even tourist programmes is too late, let alone commercial people staying the whole week, which I gather some do. 3. Breakfast tomatoes are never actually cooked and tea a bit lukewarm unless you point this out. 4. A back garden area away from highway noise would have been nice - realise this is needed for their visiting family, but some good guesthouses have it.

Review 46:Everyone seems to rate this guesthouse v highly; seems to be justified.

Review 47:We were over for a family wedding, and definitely booked a lovely place to stay for the 3 nights. Very clean and comfortable, good food, and who could fault the great welcome from Pat & Pauline. Everything was first class, especially the welcoming tea and cake when we arrived. Would definitely stay here again. Helen & Mike from Bristol

Review 48:I didn't like leaving.

Review 49:I loved the welcome I received on arrival. I hadn't even got to my room and the kettle was on for a cuppa. I loved the way the owners treated me like they had known me for years, really felt at ease there.

Review 50:Could not be more pleased with our stay .Pat was a lovely gentleman and everything was first class. In the 8 weeks we travelled this was by far the best B&B we stayed at.

Review 51:Latest time for Breakfast was 9.30am. To be honest for a Sunday morning, on a holiday I thought that this being the latest time was too early. Most B&B I have stayed in have breakfast until 10, and maybe 10.30. Though breakfast was nice so no complaints there, but would prefer for it to be served a little later.

Review 52:Staff were helpful and friendly as we appreciated the cup of team and fruit cake when we checked in, a nice surprise. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and we were given a taxi number for our trip home after a wedding (in Ballymagarvey Village - €22 fare)

Review 53:Nothing, everything was perfect.

Review 54:Pat was so helpful, he made phone calls for us and was so lovely and friendly. House was great, clean and easy to find, with lovely gardens too.Breakfast was really good, also a welcoming Tea and Coffee with cake on our arrival.

Review 55:I was in a single bed which was very hard and uncomfortable. It was also situated on the hall near the front door which meant I heard the front doorbell ring all the time, guests entering an leaving the establishment. Also very noisy on morning when owners were setting up the dinning room for breakfast which was near my room and clearing afterwards. Not a lot of sleep.

Review 56:The owners were very very accommodating and a pleasure to meet.

Review 57:Nothing major , not really worth mentioning, ( kettle lead in bedroom a little short, but not really a problem) .

Review 58:The staff was second to none , more than willing to go the extra mile to make your stay as a happy a experience as possible and cleanliness an upmost priority for them , wil stay again .

Review 59:Nothing really!

Review 60:Friendly welcome, thorough maintenance of clean room, towels every day, bed made every day, good breakfast (especially the scrambled eggs with salmon: super). Clean place with beautiful gardens and cozy breakfast area. Pat and Pauline run a very good B&B in Navan; will return again!

Review 61:Not one thing

Review 62:Everything. Excellent B&B run to the highest possible standards by a lovely couple, Pat & Pauline. They have almost 50 years experience in the hospitality sector & it shows. The place is immaculate both inside and out. My room was spotless and provided me with everything I needed including a great TV , hairdryer & tea\coffee making facilities. The breakfast I was given would put a high end restaurant to shame. It is a 5 min walking distance from the town center yet ideally located in a quiet & picturesque location. If I am ever back in Navan again this is the B&B I will book.

Review 63:Unfortunately on a busy road so sleep was affected despite double glazing

Review 64:Friendly and very helpful host. Clean and attractively presented Lovely breakfast

Review 65:Our host at Athlumney Manor was the ultimate in professional. He was prepared for us and immediately shared information about the area and restaurants. He treated us like special guests and was very interested in where we had been and what we had seen. The accommodations were great and the breakfast excellent.

Review 66:Not having time to stay longer!

Review 67:Lovely rooms, spotlessly clean and very well decorated. Comfortable beds with good quality linen. Excellent breakfast, lots of variety and homemade choices. Very helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable staff; Pat and Pauline take great pride in outstanding customer service. Gardens neat and attractive.

Review 68:The town is close, but the walk is along a pretty busy road. Bathroom was a bit small.

Review 69:Welcoming host giving a lot of information on the town adn area. We were with three and used two attached (spacious) rooms at the back. He even offered us the key for the nearby castle, for which we unforunately had no time as we arrive late and had to leave early for a visit to Newgrange - Brú na bóinne.

Review 70:Pat was very friendly and helpful, giving us many useful tips. He was also very patient helping us print out our boarding passes. The hme was nicely decorated .

Review 71:Wonderful, beautiful place and the hosts were so helpful to us. First day off the plane - we needed a little extra - and boy did we luck out with Athlumney Manor!!!!

Review 72:The road noise was a little loud.

Review 73:Pat and his wife are wonderful! Friendly and helpful, they were the most outstanding innkeepers we experienced in our ten day visit.

Review 74:Nothing negative, everything was good.

Review 75:Very lovely hosts who accommodated every wish. Breakfast was plenty with a lot of choice. Location was good for nice walks.

Review 76:It sounded like an airlock in a floor pipe above my bedroom, i was on the ground floor and the nosey was constant all night so didn't get much sleep.

Review 77:Central location Lovely host Comfortable rooms

Review 78:Pat - our host for the two nights went out of his way to make our family feel welcome and comfortable. We were traveling with 3 young children, which can make some folks cringe, but not Pat, he welcomed us with open arms and accommodated our sleeping needs and picky eaters as only someone with true hospitality experience and professionalism can do - with humor, enthusiasm and kindness. The rooms and linens were superbly clean (I cannot overstate how clean the rooms were) and the water was hot! The location is excellent. Thanks Pat, you made our first and last night in Ireland hassle free, welcoming and very comfortable!

Review 79:One of the 2 most lovely b&bs we have stayed while in Ireland. Pat and his wife Pauline were most welcoming, helpful and made us really feel like home. Upon arrival Pat gave us key from the 15th century Athlumney castle situated in 10 mins' walk from the house, and we have spent a wonderful evening there watching sunset which made the last night of our stay in Ireland truly unforgettable. Pat also recommended the Lantern pub (also 10 mins' walk) for trad session, and I must admit it was a really good one! The house itself was lovely, everything so cute and cosy and clean. The bathroom was quite spacious (not like in most other b&bs in Ireland!). We could use the fridge and all the facilities of the dining room whenever we needed it. Well, I could say, the hospitality and atmosphere of this house made me feel as if I was staying at my grandparents - this is how friendly, sociable and welcoming the hosts were! I'd definitely recommend Athlumney Manor to anyone for a most comfortable stay.

Review 80:The location map provided on the website was quite misleading and bore little ressemblance to the actual road layout. We got lost and had to use GPS to find our way. The lack of postcodes in Ireland is a serious drawback. We would have preferred summer weight duvets in preference to the winter weight provided.
