Reviews for Bellinter House

Review 1:I found the female reception staff very helpful and the male restaurant and bar staff great as well. However, the female bar and restaurant staff were extremely impatient and curt. While the rooms are still as charming as ever they are not very clean. The corners of the rooms have a mouldy dirty look; the bath had green-ish mould around the taps, and drains. It looked like the walls hadn’t been painted in ten years and the dirt on the rafters was very obvious. The gardens were so run down and the junk piled up in the sheds at the back was a little shocking. The breakfast was very average. I don’t think the two day stay was worth that amount of money and we are very disappointed with it overall.

Review 2:I found the female reception staff very helpful and the male restaurant and bar staff great as well. The heating was great, so made it comfortable.

Review 3:The room was really cold - I guess though that is to be expected with such high vaulted ceilings. When we did enquire about heating up the room at reception they provided us with an additional duvet which made the stay much more pleasant. While the food in the restaurant was very good and the quality of the breakfast was excellent the actual atmospherics of the restaurant didn't seem to match the decadence of the food or exquisitive exterior of the building. The dining room was modern and had a conference centre feel to it with leather swivel chairs - rather bizarre but fun for kids!

Review 4:The staff are really friendly and very helpful as nothing seemed to be a bother to them. The location is beautiful. We went for a walk around the grounds along the river - the staff provided us with a map and welly boots to save our shoes getting wet! The bar area is really cool and the food was good. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious. I especially loved the tea tray - you just can't beat a wee Tunnocks mallow with a cuppa!

Review 5:We were located in the former stable, dark rooms without the possibility of airing. In the bathroom there was a big quantity of mould.

Review 6:The main house is a beautiful old building.

Review 7:Continental spread at breakfast poorly set out

Review 8:The ambience. This is a beautiful country house that envelopes you with total relaxation. Perfect for couples. The staff are wonderful. Dining in the evening superb. Stayed overnight and didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back in the autumn for 2 nights.

Review 9:I attended a wedding reception, first class, beautiful venue, great day and night had by all. Would and have already recommended Bellinter House for a Wedding Celebration event

Review 10:Rooms were a bit tired, could be described as rustic at best. Bathrooms need updating. Breakfast room a little dark, but charming enough. Safe in the room was locked closed.

Review 11:Nice rural location with attractive grounds. Ample car parking. Friendly staff.

Review 12:No wifi in our bedroom. No gym facilities.

Review 13:Liked the style of the house and the relaxed atmosphere. Eden restaurant and drawing room food are both excellent. Good wine selection.

Review 14:The bathroom could have been a little cleaner, the dining room somewhat lacks character which the rest of the house has loads of

Review 15:The location, the interior of the lounge/bar area, the food for dinner and breakfast, the friendly helpful staff were all excellent.

Review 16:Wi fi problems in accessing web from room

Review 17:Unique location. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyable staff. Great facilities - we loved the outside jacuzzi

Review 18:Big, clean and comfortable room perfect for relaxation. The spa was a delighful addition and well worth a visit. The staff were warm, welcoming and very accommodating to meet our needs make this a very memorable stay. Would DEFINITELY stay at Bellinter House again!!

Review 19:The stables/lean to were substandard for the price. Not connected to main house. No internet, no mobile phone coverage, unwatchable TV reception, mini-bar fridge not working and room safe out of order. Waited 35 mins for breakfast because staff mixed up our order.

Review 20:The interior design in the reception and drawing room was nice.

Review 21:This hotel is overrated. It is certainly not what I expected from the website. It has great potential but needs a lot of work. Having said that, we voiced our concerns on checkout and were very satisfied with the receptionist who noted our complaints. We were happy with how she dealt with the situation. I would be very slow to recommend this hotel and will certainly not return myself.

Review 22:The next morning however was a different story , the choice at breakfast was small, a delay with bacon and eggs etc, had to wake twice for coffee. Overall it was a very disappointing meal. The room was nice but didn't have a cosy feel to it.

Review 23:My husband and I stayed for 1 night and had a lovely dinner in Eden restaurant, highly recommended food and service were excellent

Review 24:The basement room was nothing like that advertised on website. This was a luxury birthday treat for my partner. We were both very disappointed at the std of room given.

Review 25:Bed was comfort

Review 26:Quite simply the hotel lacked comfort and polish and did not offer three star never mind four star finish. the only comfortable chairs were occupied by the reception staff! the bar offered only slouch chairs and coffee tables; difficult to enjoy a meal at. the bed rooms had no counter top and everything had to be placed on the floor...the bed was too low to the ground and there was only one cheap chair in the bedroom. The dining room carpet was stained and dirty. All in all a very poor offering.

Review 27:The grounds and staff were nice. The bathroom fittings were special.

Review 28:The books in library seemed like a job lot from an auction. No local or national guide books . Such a pity as room is gorgeous with splendid 19th century built in bookshelves. Oh and the chairs the only bad chairs in the place. And what superb taste the chairs in the other rooms exude.

Review 29:The eclecticism. Such helpful staff. And above all the superb architecture

Review 30:Love this hotel so much feels like you are staying in someones home rather than a hotel. Have stayed a few times now and would highly recommend the Main House rooms which are out of this world. Huge rooms with an absolutely stunning view of the beautiful surrounds and simply the best bathrooms in Ireland. Also highly recommend the amazing Eden restaurant in the basement and of course the staff who make you feel right at home. Hope to be back very soon!

Review 31:The decor in the dining room could do with an upgrade.

Review 32:It was a very peaceful night away.the hotel was lovely and warm both in atmosphere and temperature .

Review 33:Hotel carpets need cleaned. Bedroom needs more attention being cleaned. Was a tshirt in wardrobe from previous people. Bathroom was grubby. Blinds where broken. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Review 34:Location an food was lovely. Very relaxing.

Review 35:The barmaid could not replace the barrel of Heineken so I could not get a pint for some time after check-in. At breakfast the milk was sour and there was a small silver slug-like critter in the jug. The milk jug was replaced when I pointed it out, but it is not a good sign. We had some difficulty locating the hotel as it was poorly sign-posted until we were very close.

Review 36:Staff were friendly and the location was attractive.

Review 37:We loved staying in a room in the Bathhouse wing of this magically informal property beside the Boyne. Excellent staff and fine food. We forgave the quirky rattling traditional radiator, but would recommend a plumber to bleed the noisy airlock

Review 38:Nice atmosphere, chilled out. Staff excellent apart from one slightly aloof barman. Dinner was fine but the portions were just far too small. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic though.

Review 39:Not easy to find on the map attached to their site. One night was not long enough !

Review 40:Close to Dublin Airport - less than 1 hour's drive Close to Tara Hill The beautiful sittings rooms where we ate a delicious light meal in the twilight, accompanied by a glass of wine (or 2). Receptionist Roslyn was very helpful. I will stay there again on my next trip to the Emerald Isle.

Review 41:Feels a little unfinished in places - would benefit from more artwork etc. on walls. Lack of pool - disappointing - advertised with pool & we were not aware it had gone.

Review 42:Excellent, attentive staff. Quirkiness.

Review 43:Service was excellent. Friendly helpful staff in reception, dining room, spa. Sauna, steam room and hot tub were amazing. Rooms were quaint. Breakfast was one of the best ever (incredible selection).

Review 44:Felt the interior of Bellinter was very sad and certainly was not in keeping with the structure of the house. It looked like they had been to a flea market for furnishings and floor covering

Review 45:Spa. Food.

Review 46:House and ground are beautiful, the food was excellent. Take the time to walk down to the river. I hope I get back to enjoy the spa.

Review 47:Staff particularily helpful and pleasant .

Review 48:good food, good beer, good staff, great house , what more do you need for a relaxing weekend .

Review 71:The hotel is overpriced, tired, dirty, had to change rooms 3 times to get a resonable room. Not worth the money.
