Reviews for Captain's House
Review 1:dirty pool, basic breakfast, rude and annoying owners, unfriendly staff, and wifi is not working in the rooms, rooms are not clean enough and smelled badly, walls are so thin that you can hear every noise in your room, bathrooms were very small
Review 2:Perfect location from port, a 2 minute walk. On the main street but in a quieter area. Lovely pool area. Wonderful breakfast with sweets, fruit and coffee. Many common areas to sit and overlook the bay. Clothesline!!
Review 3:Was sometimes a little noisy at night cos of nearby club but unavoidable in such a central location probably.
Review 4:Great location, fab breakfast, friendly owners, beautiful room.
Review 5:Nothing to dislike, I suppose if you have any mobility issues stairs would be difficult.
Review 6:Whole stay beginning to end. Check in easy, room great, clean, quite comfortable. Position perfect for port, bus stop to monastery, restaurants. And the pool had an unreal sort of quality, perfect for that dip after a long day sightseeing
Review 7:Rooms could be more spacious.
Review 8:Staff is great. We met the whole family and they are very warm and friendly people. Location is great. It is near the bars of Scala (port) were all people go after Chora, at night. The room was quiet and had no noise at all. I enjoyed the Coco-Mat mattress! Room is very clean.
Review 9:NOTHING !
Review 10:We have stayed at the Captain's House before and didn't think it needed to get better but it did.The customer service is fantastic. The breakfast even had more cake selection. It is an inviting and happy place to stay. The rooms are spotless and the bathroom is great The hotel is close to the port for travel by ferry. Buses are nearby and offer cheap travel to many places on the island.Shops and restaurants are a plenty and very good. Kathy and Nicos take great pride in their hotel and we enjoyed it so much we didn't want to leave. Ask for a room overlooking the port .
Review 11:Everything was perfect! The manager/ owner Kathy Tomais can really make you stay a very nice experience. Her breakfasts are glorious with her home just made pastry (she ends baking her bugatsas and plumcakes just in front of you so that you can eat them almost steaming). What with plenty of fruit, home made orange juice and jams, varied bread and cakes, salads etc make it the perfect breakfast (IMHO). The views from the balcony was relaxing and scenic. The isolation from the street noises (traffic, noisy Italian trippers with their rented bikes) at night is so good you don't even notice. So you have nothing to fear about that. The pool is okay and the hotel runs its own café-bar with tables and umbrellas on the across-the-street beach.
Review 12:Room is small for family with 2 children, noise of neighbours can be annoying.
Review 13:Everything, especially the warmth of kathy, the Breakfast, the view, the location and the Nice Swimming pool , Also possibility of car hire
Review 14:A good location 50 meters from the port with an excellent taverna directly outside. Quite good value for Patmos, and I'd recommend it. Highlights are the sea view and the breakfast, homemade is so unusual these days - very tasty
Review 15:Street noise very loud one night, no English TV channels.
Review 16:Balcony, pool, general layout of place, lovely breakfast included on balcony looking out to harbour
Review 17:Everything was perfect.
Review 18:We had a sea view room and we loved watching the large and small boats arriving in the harbour. The pool was a great place to relax. Breakfast on the balcony was perfect with lovely home cooked delicacies.
Review 19:Arriving by ferry it is difficult to pick a better hotel, it is 100 metres on the flat from the terminal, We stayed in a suite facing the front which was spacious and well furnished and extremely clean, with super views of all that goes on in the harbour. You can tell the pride taken in this business. The breakfast was somewhat overwhelming with much choice including home made jams and cakes along with the usual Mediteranean/Agean style fayre Only stayed for 2 nights but next time it will be for longer The hotel also has a great swimming pool and relaxation area.
Review 20:The view of the harbor was beautiful from our balcony. Great breakfast with wonderful staff. Good cake. Great value as well. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 21:All perfect
Review 22:Definitely recommend for those travellers, arriving by ferry, and wanting a quiet central location. Literally as you depart from the ferry the hotel is approximately 150 metres to your left, can't miss it. The rooms are large and spacious we had a queen size, very comfy bed, and pillows. Coffee and tea facilities, TV and air con in the rooms, with ability to open windows for fresh air. Shower had good pressure, and reasonable size. Breakfast was great, including the delicious home made cake on offer. Staff efficient and friendly and were able to check us in early.
Review 23:Being poorly for all of our stay and having to leave for Athens for intense medical treatment that we hoped worked when we read this review.
Review 24:The accommodation was excellent as was the owner. And Patmos was lovely.
Review 25:I would prefer it if there were mosquito nets on the windows, as we dislike air contitioning. Luckily only a couple of them entered before we took notice and anyway it was a cool night so we just closed the window and killed them...
Review 26:I really enjoyed the room, the view, the bed, the breakfast and the cossy atmosphere. The best plus for us was the variety of common spaces where we could spend time together as a company of three couples, without having to sit on a cafe just for the sake of spending time together. These are: 1.The patio by the pool, (ideal for windy nights) 2.The tables on the beach, practically where the waves brake (for a break after the morning stroll) 3. The breakfast area (for a great beginning of the day , accompanied by the smells of a rich breakfast) 4. The sofa area at the entrance, we didn't have the time to use it..next time.
Review 27:The owner was very nice and attentive. Service, food, facility..everything was good except wifi was weak in the room. Public area would be fine. She made delicious jam and cake that we enjoyed a lot. She was quite flexible and accommodating with our checkin/checkout time since we were there offseason.
Review 28:The owners -- the Captain and his wife Keti -- were most friendly and always helpful. The location is very convenient --- a short stroll to the center of Skala and the bus stop and ferries. Being at the end of the port road it was quieter and calmer -- nice for breakfast on the balcony or across the small road on the beach. The buffet breakfast was fresh and always included one of Keti's famous home-made cakes - yum. I came for one night and stayed for 10! Need I say more?
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Location, right in front of the harbour, Our suite, too nice to call a room. The bed was just beautiful, breakfast was fresh & plentiful, served overlooking the water. The helpful freindly staff.
Review 31:Not a lot of room for 4 people in the room we shared, but made it inexpensive per head.
Review 32:White decor and interesting fittings, pool and pool decorations. Great location (apart from some street noise (comes with the territory)). Excellent breakfast.
Review 33:Nothing negative really although it's location near the port could make it noisy in high season.
Review 34:Lovely welcome at this pristine, relaxed and beautiful hotel. The owner and staff were really helpful. The location was ideal for us as it was literally a minute's walk from the boat. Very comfy bed and pillows. Overly breakfast on terrace overlooking the sea.
Review 35:Fantastic rooms Great location Great breakfast Fantastic hosts, we were held up by ferry being transferred swapped the days no problem at short notice without charge. Nice people gotta love the Greek people
Review 36:I just want to thank the owners and the housekeepers of the hotel for making possible an economic accomodation such a perfect and comfortable experience for us. They are always helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Captain's House to any visitor to Patmos.
Review 37:Nothing to complane about the hotel. Only if you have sensitif sleep keep in mind this: Summer time every 2 days an night is comming ferry from Athens. Be sure to close the window to do not here the noise.

Review 41:Breakfast is far from being extraordinary, contrary to what is indicated in most of the comments on Booking.com. As indicated in the ad, wifi is available in public areas only.
Review 42:Captain’s House is a good value for money. It is well located, just a few steps from the port. Rooms are clean but basic and with no charm. Kati, the owner, is very nice and ready to answer your questions.
Review 43:very central location; right across the skala harbour, plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops and car/moto rental offices...access to chora, grikos and psili ammou is easy by moto or car
Review 44:This is a superb small hotel, stylish, simple, comfortable, with a lovely pool. The family owners could not be more helpful, sensible and accommodating. It's situated on the waterfront of the busy little port of Patmos so you feel in the thick of things while still v. quite and relaxed.
Review 45:I am a very light sleeper and although the view from our room was amazing (on the front , overlooking the cruise ship berth), I found it noisy. We would return to stay here again but I would trade the view for a quieter room on the back of the hotel.
Review 46:What a fabulous location ! Right on the harbour , near the bus stop , short walk to the town and all facilities. Beautiful house , comfortable , quiet air-con. Breakfast on the terrace was excellent and the room had a kettle and some complimentary coffee.Visitors must go to Hora (Chora) to the village and monastery - it's typical and unspoilt.
Review 47:Hotel located minutes from the port, lovely room overlooking the harbour (double bed), beautiful pool area which was great for relaxing after a day at the beach. Great breakfast and helpful owner. Wonderful beaches. There is a very good tourist office opposite the port, the lady there is also very helpful and has a lot of information booklets on Patmos.
Review 48:At night: Music, singing, drunk people all night long at the pub opposite of the small alleyway on a Friday eve in July. They were basically at my balcony. I had to close all the windows, and put the ac on. What a shame. I needed a second night but chose another hotel in order to sleep better. The day I arrived, the wifi was not working. Little English is spoken.
Review 49:Nice clean room. Good breakfast buffet. At the port with sea view but... read on...
Review 50:It took some time to get used to the constant sound of scooters outside on the port road.

Review 97:This place is a rare gem. What a find! Literally 100 m from waterfront and about 200m from ferry terminal, this is the perfect place to stay in Patmos. Run by a Greek lady, it is immaculate and so homely. Try her cakes with breakfast. Yum!
Review 98:Very home like atmosphere. Owners very knowledgable and friendly. Great breakfast included sitting on the terrace seaside. Car rental on location. Less then 2 mins walk from ferry port. Beautiful island. Will go back and stay at same location for sure.

Review 102:There is nothing I can say I did not like.
Review 103:Very caring treatment from the staff, small but tasty breakfast selection, nearby the port (we even spotted a cruise ship and it felt like if it was in our front yard) and very easy to access the island's main attractions. The rooms were small but very tidy and clean, just as we expected, really lovely place.
Review 104:Lack of privacy on the balcony The stairs are a little tricky if not 100% able (recovering from broken ankle)
Review 105:Location perfect Proprietors v helpful and amiable Modern well appointed en suite Good continental breakfast V good value or money 5-10min walk from ferry on the flat
Review 106:This hotel was by far one of the best we stayed in on our month's tour of the Dodecanese Islands. The facilities with newly furnished rooms & bathrooms plus the swimming pool & poolside area offer you 4 star comfort & great value for money. The staff are so warm & friendly & breakfasts can be enjoyed on the hotel terrace overlooking the harbour views. Great location.Highly recommended.
Review 107:everything was ok
Review 108:Room was a bit small but very nice, with all facilities one could need, included wifi connection. Nice stylish bathroom, though quite small as well. Everything was spottless clean included swimming pool. The position is great just along Skala seaside and facing a little beach. Good buffet breakfast served outside. Excellent value for money
Review 109:Friendly owners of this little hotel gives you a feeling of staying with old acquaintances if you are back for a second or third time. It is a good opportunity to make new friends if you are there for the first time. They will go out of their way to make your stay at their ''House'' and on the island a most pleasant one. Patmos is a fascinating island to say the least.
