Reviews for Best Western Ilford Hotel
Review 1:No restaurant in the evening but receptionist directed me to a very good pub close by. Ilford is not the best of areas, lots of gangs of youths on street corners which (although not a problem) were a little threatening.
Review 2:Very close to station, clean hotel with very polite and friendly staff with decent breakfast.
Review 3:Toilet cistern dusty with what looked like eye lashes otherwise room and hotel clean. Bed very hard. Morning tea made and dispensed from hot pot. Would rather have tea bags and boiling water. No toast for breakfast only bread.
Review 4:Location and staff
Review 5:Breakfast - very low standard food. Bedroom - a large room with 3 beds but only one chair. Shower - it was impossible to stand in bath to take shower due to sloping roof. Needed to crouch on knees to shower. No alternative as bathplug had been removed.
Review 6:Ability to park car
Review 7:Absolute chaos at breakfasts! Even though what I ate was tasty! Long thin dinning room, help your self breakfast at one end!! consequently people of all nationalities milling about at one end! No toaster! No coffee by the time one ordered, the meal had gone cold! I could go on!!
Review 8:Location, cleanliness, value for money, staff.
Review 9:N/A
Review 10:Me and my cousin enjoyed the experience. The staff were very attentive. Room very comfortable. So happy we stayed. Flexible check out. Wished we stayed longer.
Review 11:The breakfast needs to be more organised and better quality of food. We had road work drilling from 6am on a Sunday morning and the parking is a bit of a problem.
Review 12:The staff are very friendly and location is just around the corner from the shopping centre and it was clean.
Review 13:Had noisy guests arrive in there room after midnight and proceeded to bang around for quite a while leading to a very disturbed nights sleep
Review 14:The hotel was clean and comfortable and value for money
Review 15:Lots of internal noise (doors slamming etc) from guests (Contractors?) getting up and departing around 6am. Late confirmation e-mail (less than 24 hours before arrival) from the hotel quoting a very inflated price which turned out to be incorrect.
Review 16:Comfortable room and good breakfast Immediate apologetic e-mail response from the hotel to confirm the booking.com price was correct and their e-mail was wrong
Review 17:I find the price increase on a Saturday is too high! For this reason I stay elsewhere on a Saturday, but it's kind of the same everywhere in ilford .
Review 18:Staff were very helpful and friendly and will always try and accommodate me. I'm a regular visiter of ilford and have stayed in most hotels in the area. I can say for a good breakfast included and spotless clean rooms it's excellent value for money
Review 19:There was no lift, so couldn't stay in the upper floor. No air conditioning in the room.
Review 20:The location : close to the mall and train station. The free breakfast with a lot of variety.
Review 21:Cups and saucers stained & sticky Welcome folder pages stained & sticky
Review 22:Very close to train station Wardrobe with hangers Wired & Wireless Internet
Review 23:We were put in an annex, which was etremely noisy through the day and from 3 am onwards we were awoken by other guests. Although the heating was on full the radiators did not work and we were cold the whole night. Breakfast was included but we didn't partake based on our stay so it would be impossible to give fair comment. Would not stay here again, it is more like a hostel.
Review 24:The cleanliness was to a good standard.
Review 25:I had a bad experience with one of your reception staff, I payed in full for my room, the when I reached to my room it was very small like a box room I was satisfied with the look and space of the room, then I also mentioned to her that I have a phobia of small rooms I can't accept that room and that I need a suitable room which has some space, so she replied extremely rude to me and I'm very upset with the way to spoke to me
Review 26:I liked the room which we was staying in excelling style wonderful night and also very nice breakfast
Review 27:i booked the twin room, when i arrived i found only one towel. in the shower smelling cigarettes. the tee spoon was dirty.it was room number 12.it was too hot over there, so i sleep with the open window.
Review 28:Not enough room in the bathroom but I stayed in a single. It was a knees to wall experience to sit on the loo! And shower but no bath facilities at least in mine. Can't whinge too much though considering how cheap it all was.
Review 29:Cheap and super close to Ilford Rail especially if you're there for Con but Con is still a bit far. Has all the basics and great wifi and help - yourself breakfast so can't complain there.
Review 30:I was kin room one . Every time the door opened it shut with a bang and people walking I could hear every footstep. May the closure should be adjusted and a better under floor felt could help.
Review 31:The staff and the breakfast. The staff with one exception were really great.
Review 32:kept awake for the duration of our stay,by noisy students in room above us,we complained to the staff, but it got worse.
Review 33:staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 34:My bed almost touched the wall from top to bottom, very tiny room. The walls are hollow I could hear everyone walking past and there was a lot of interruption from the landing door opening and closing.
Review 35:Nice staff at front desk. Clean bathroom.
Review 36:slight disturbance during the night probably due to late night deliveries but nothing too bad,
Review 37:Rooms are nice, clean and tidy, staff are friendly and helpful, free but limited parking, large variety of items for breakfast (eggs, cereals, croissants, juice, tea, etc) 5 minute walk away ro Ilford train station, take train to Stratford train station and then the jubilee line to green park gets you outside Buckingham Palace, plenty of Asian halal takeaways and shops (lidl, sainsburys,)near the hotel, room was ready when we arrived :)
Review 38:No lift facilities.part of the Hotel is one side of the road and the second part of the Hotel is opposite to the road
Review 39:Location advantage. Very near to all the shopping facilities including Hotel Saravana Bhavani which is one of the leading chain of hotels in India
Review 40:It was a bit warm in our room (top floor, loft style, ie. ceiling took the shape of the roof) and it wasn't easy to air it even if we opened the windows. No air-conditioning unit. The breakfast room was disproprionately small for the hotel, so better get there early!
Review 41:Friendly staff, good breakfast options, spacious family room, awesome location if you intend to be close to Ilford station and still be in a quiet neighbourhood
Review 42:Reception girls (Russian speaking ones) were amazing. Very helpful, polite and smiling. Room was very spacious, very clean. Bed comfortable. Very big variety for a full English breakfast. I will definitely come back here.
Review 43:The room was a bit small. Large bed as for single room but at the cost of almost no free space. Internet access was interrupted sometimes despite Wi-Fi connection was stable.
Review 44:Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Overall clean room. Good lokation to get to city during out-of-peak hours.
Review 45:There were late night deliveries which caused a bit of a stir to our night, I'd suspect if you are not at the front of the hotel you'd be ok. Check in was held up and we got in an hour later than planned.
Review 46:The staff were very friendly, very helpful as best they could be. The breakfast was immense, far better than I ever expected.
Review 47:From the entrance to the bedroom the smeel was killing me, it stinks cause people leave stinky football trainers outside the bedrooms, it was disgusting everytime we had to go out of the room we had to cover our noses, guest shouldnt be aloud to leave dirty stinky trainers outside the bedrooms ,the room was extremely hot, we was provided with a fan but to small to keep the room fresh, i had to sleep with fan on, windows open and no covers. Need a bit more cleaning i found some rubish under the table.
Review 48:The bedroom was big and the bed very comfortable, the staff very friendly
Review 49:there was a disturbance late evening, loud shouting and police had to be called. we was not reassured at all, felt quite threatened as a man was shouting 'i am not safe here'. when it came to check out the front reception staff left us standing there for 5 mins. unacceptable behavior.
Review 50:The room's size was definitely smaller than the one promised and no other sizes were available at arrival. Previously, the hotel did not replay our email in which we had asked to confirm the size of the room. In the bathroom we couldn't even move without closing firstly the door and there were not surfaces to put personal items. The shower had no sfafety math, making us to keep our feet next to the walls not to slip down. Moreover, the room had only a very small, low and remote window, hard to be open or closed, which made the room dark and significantly hot.
Review 51:Cleanliness, silence, proximity to train station, variety of breakfast, kindness of staff.
Review 52:Only window in the room was a skylight, there was no air conditioning or fans available for the room with the high temperatures that we had, small room.
Review 53:Friendly staff
Review 54:Internet was very poor, room need new lock or door because room never been locked properly. Someone has to look the door lock for room # 40 this room never been locked if you push the door twice anyone can enter in the room.
Review 55:Staff at this hotel was very co-operative and helpful, breakfast was also nice, good amount with variety of items.
Review 56:Ok the only downside is there is a limited parking so best advise is to travel via public transport .
Review 57:We liked the spaciousness the staff was very friendly and the rooms were exactly what was advertised. It was excellent value for money and we will definitely be going back there
Review 58:I needed parking. They found me a parking space. I needed to leave very early and they had a 24 hour reception. I also had the option of paying by cash which I like.
Review 59:Noisy hotel. Interesting breakfast-I think the breakfast was polish. All the waiting staff and I presume the chef was polish. Very helpful staff.
Review 60:The parking
Review 61:Very loud ticking clock so I removed the battery and re-inserted it in the morning. Also it was centrally positioned on the wall over the bathroom which I thought was a lack of attention to detail. Not important, but ...
Review 62:Clean. Welcoming staff. Worked well for our purposes, ie close to venue of our event and good value for money.
Review 63:Single room very compact. Sink so small you could miss it if you spat into it while leaning over it. Bed not so comfortable as in other Best Western hotels. Little sound proofing.
Review 64:Staff at breakfast helpful. Hotel close to Ilfords restaurants, Costa coffee and pubs but still in a quiet back street.
Review 65:The space in breakfast area is small, there isn't even variety of breakfast to opt from.also the surrounding area doesn't feel safe and secure.
Review 66:That it's close to train, get wifi and breakfast and rooms are comfortable and clean.
Review 67:The sound insulation is very poor and was disturbed at night by the loud television from the room underneath.
Review 68:Nice to be able to park the car and have breakfast included.
Review 69:You get what you pay for.... Not a lot. Friendly helpful staff, there were 10 of us and 2 of the girls we're in the other part of hotel across the street, the staff offered them a different room to be on the same side of the road with the whole group. However terrible location, we didn't feel safe and weren't comfortable leaving the car in the car park and did not want to walk to the high street.
Review 70:the Staff is too rude I feel specially the night staff. had to struggle to get an iron and iron board, guest facility book says shaving el or foam is available free but on request was denied that there is no such facility. though later they provided me with shaving gel. I requested for bill on check out but was told we will send it by email and I got only one proper invoice showing payment for only three night where as I was charged on my credit card for additional night. so total I paid was for 4 nights
Review 71:free wifi
Review 72:We were given a room that resembled a cupboard which smelt of damp. The room was situated below the hotel entrance, therefore we got no sleep due to the constant arrival of guests returning home throughout the night.
Review 73:Room was clean
Review 74:Very uncomfortable pillows, no extra blanket, no toilet brush or deodorant
Review 75:Location, shower, thick curtains, refreshments, were not disturbed, lovely and delicious full English breakfast.
Review 76:The modern bathroom was clean and there were plenty of towels. The toiletries were very high standard and the bed was comfortable. very happy with the room.
Review 77:I had excellent and caring assitance from the receptionist, regarding my room and finding my way round Ilford. The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. The room was well equipped and breakfast was good. A most enjoyable stay.
Review 78:The banging of doors throughout the night was annoying & the ventilation system was noisy. The room size also was a little on the small size.
Review 79:I liked the value for money, the good level of service from the staff & the location. The shower had hot water straight away and the breakfast in the morning was good
Review 80:The WiFi was very poor and did not work most of the time. They need to look at this as now a days WiFi is essential otherwise hotel is excellent but let down by poor wifii
Review 81:Excellent staff , very polite and always helpful. Breakfast was great
Review 82:The fire escape, which had big signs saying locked and alarmed, in fact wasn't. It was used all night by the partying guests who slammed it every time they came in and out - which was very frequently - each time waking anyone who was in a room near by. These same guests, after midnight, held a big and very noisy party on their room but since I was staying in the annex there were no staff to manage this on behalf of the comfort of all the other guests. I was told that the annex would be locked after 18:00 and a code would be required to enter the building - something important to me as a female travelling alone. Yet this didn't happen and anyone could enter at will all through the night. And of course there was the open fire exit that was also open all night. Considering this it was impossible to feel secure in the hotel.
Review 83:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
Review 84:Rooms are small, they appear bigger in photos. On suites could be better, sinks are small too.
Review 85:Good location, quiet and comfortable. Freindly staff, the complimentary breakfast has ample choice, you can have a choice of freshly cooked Omelette (sumptous) or lmost anything you want. Icing on the cake is free parking.
Review 86:The annexe is a warren and it's easy to use the wrong exit, which can mean it is less secure.
Review 87:The room was nice and very clean. I would have liked thicker curtains as it was very light outside but the bed was comfortable.
Review 88:I arrived and was booked into the annex which doesn't have 24 hour reception. I expressed concern as a woman travelling alone and a room was found in the main hotel.
Review 89:Car parking difficult to guarantee parking at hotel or nearby. Rough area, didnt feel safe outside, though hotel security was good
Review 90:Staff efficient and helpful, free wifi, decent breakfast
Review 91:The hotel is in two parts. We checked in then had to leave that part and walk across a steet wheree builders were taking the door apart, looked like a building site. The room was a glorified corridor with a token TV on the wall that could only be seen if you sat in the wardrobe. Awful!
Review 92:That it had short notice availability. Bathroom was nice and clean
Review 93:I was in the 'annex' across the road form the main hotel. The room was accessed via an open air passage. Not very nice when raining. Cold room. No hot water - but was fixed when I mentioned to staff at front desk. Breakfast just edible but not very good. Pre-cooked buffet kept warm. No bar or lounge. Restaurant only open for breakfast.
Review 94:Helpful and welcoming staff. Free wi-fi with reasonable speed. Fairly spacious room. Near to Ilford centre.
Review 95:- room was in a dependance building. With open window you can hear a lot of noice during the night. Flushing of water or something. - breakfast times on weekdays only till 9 am.
Review 96:- Location close to railway station. Even nighttrains and buses stop there. - Breakfast, - Room and bed were good.
Review 97:There was no bar facilities in the hotel
Review 98:it is an ideal place to stay on a budget if you don't want to pay London top prices for accommodation. A 15 minute train journey into London with use of the tube on a day ticket is recommended.
Review 99:Parking is a big issue. We stayed there for 4 nights and I could only find parking on the hotel premises for 2 nights.
Review 100:Rooms were nice size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok.
Review 101:My bed was unbelievably hard, squeaky and uncomfortable. My stay was ruined by this one point. Pay a little extra on the beds and you get more returning customers!
Review 102:Staff were helpful and pleasant. Hotel in general was clean. My room was spotless. English breakfast was very good.
Review 103:Nothing it's what I expected
Review 104:Good budget hotel ..helpful staff I received what I expected. Find it hard to understand when people complain people expect 4 star service at two star prices. This was a good solid budget hotel
Review 105:The room too small thereby it was it was very hot. But staff were helpful was offered a fan which helped a lot
Review 106:The fair prize and hospitality also the good breakfast
Review 107:Nothing was disliked
Review 108:The Room was very nice. Staff were very fast and nice. Breakfast was very good Location is good few minutes up the road to Ilford station and all shops
Review 109:A 7.5 ton Laundry lorry arrived at 10.30pm outside my room to deliver clean laundry and take away the dirty. This took 45 minutes to complete. Very noisy impossible to get to sleep Breakfast was a farce as breakfast room was not big enough for the number of guests. Many had to wait in lobby area for tables to become available. Will not go back to this hotel again.
Review 110:reception staff on arrival in afternoon very pleasant.
Review 111:Close to the crossing of the Cranbrook and York roads each evening there were some debauchees.
Review 112:The hotel was near to the Ilford train station (3 minutes walk). The central line is cca 2 km walk or you can reach it also by several bus lines. There are shops and pubs near the hotel.
Review 113:the staff giving me a twin room instead of the double I asked for. Also having to walk across the road to another building in the pouring rain to have breakfast
Review 114:free wifi, good breakfast
Review 115:A security light outside the bedroom combined with thin curtains made for a continual light show in the room. When I commented about it in the morning, all I got was a shrug and a statement that they needed it.
Review 116:No wi-fi throughout our visit and this made life very difficult for us. Shoddy furnishings Poor mattress quality Being in a basement room Poor sound insulation between rooms Mould around bathroom fittings Breakfast: reconstituted bacon, tinned not fresh fruit
Review 117:Size of en-suite shower room Good shower Friendly breakfast staff Reduced room rate: if I had paid more I would be very upset indeed
Review 118:Apart from the rooms being small and the shower very tiny everything else was great, from the staff to the very clean rooms to the fantastic breakfast
Review 119:The only little things that I disliked were a sloped ceiling in my room (quite difficult to move around), and a lousy wifi connection.
Review 120:The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from a railway station, which was very convenient. The bulding and both of my rooms were clean and nice in their appearance. The staff was extremely friendly and eager to help whenether needed. The breakfasts are to be menioned as well - lots of food to choose from and all of it fresh and tasty.
Review 121:Breakfast was limited and no effort was made to meet dietary requirements. Could hear other people's conversations clearly throughout the night.
Review 122:Having a bathtub. Cleanliness. Pretty friendly, helpful receptionists. Esay booking.
Review 123:Shoe box size room and shower room. Shelf above tiny sink was a hazard when cleaning teeth rooms not very well sound proof. Disturbed by neighbours.
Review 124:Location good for train. Parking an advantage.good breakfast
Review 125:This hotel was great value but the location was not very desirable. We overcame this though by getting a taxi from the hotel to Gants Hill on the day we left at a cost of 5 pounds!! Problem solved. We will definitely be staying again
Review 126:The rooms at this hotel were beautiful!! Everything was spotless and clean. I couldn't fault it at all
Review 127:Had ground floor room at front ,very noisy, people sitting on my window sill most nights ,talking loudly, smoking at all hours every night . Ilford is not a pleasant area to go out at night.
Review 128:Quite good value for money.Clean & comfortable.
Review 129:1. very small rooms 2. During our stay, it was well hot and humid in London but Fan was not provided despite of several request. It was impossible for my kid to sleep in that heat. At midnight, I had to call my local friend to bring fan from his home. That was pathetic.
Review 130:Breakfast was amazing.
Review 131:I was in a ground floor room in the annex. Room 52 on 29th July 2014. Nice big room BUT a Very warm room, but was worried about the windows being open as they were very large and they also had a very large window sill for someone to stand on to access the room whilst asleep. The window sill was also used as a seat for people having a fag. Also there was a very strong smell of drains from the shower plug hole. Meals at the hotel were too expensive and not much choice. Felt intimidated by a group of 12 to 15 'men' hanging around not far from the hotel, which was more concerning if had the windows open. Felt as female alone should have at least been on a floor up or in main hotel where there are staff. Also the reception man- said you didn't do Vat receipts as you are offering a service and therefore there are no vat receipts and that I may use a VAT receipt to claim Tax back or at the airport ???? I explained required for Business purposes to claim vat back!
Review 132:I could walk to get restaurants to get a evening meal. The staff at breakfast were great.
Review 133:The breakfast room is too small to accommodate the number of guests wishing to use it at peak times. Our room (No.50) was below street level in (?) the old cellar. It smelt and felt damp and had no ventilation other than two windows opening onto an internal corridor. There were no proper security catches on the windows so on two very hot nights we had to sleep with the windows closed. The blind on the glass door of the room was too narrow and part of the interior, including one of the beds, was visible from the corridor. The corridor has only a perspex roof. The corridor floor has duckboards to keep guests' feet dry when it rains and water coming down the external concrete steps of the fire exit seeps in.
Review 134:The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast itself was good. The room had all the facilities we would expect.
Review 135:There wasn't anything not to like.
Review 136:Nice and clean, near good restaurants, microwave in the room very good if you have young children, free parking all day, few minutes walk from underground. Would recommend to a friend.
Review 137:The awful smell from the drains in the bathroom. We would not have stayed in this room if staying for more nights
Review 138:Location/Friendly and helpful staff/Exellent breakfast.
Review 139:really thin walls, could hear drawers opening and closing etc queing for breakfast- facilities werent big enough for all guests
Review 140:how efficient the catering staff were(breakfast times), non stop working making sure guests were catered for, topping up the food
