Reviews for Ma Dwyer's B&B
Review 1:There was no reading table in the room.
Review 2:The serene environment and location of the hotel is excellent. There is no problem with transport to and from the B & B and City Centre (including Dublin City Centre). The flowing river infront of the B & B gives cool and cosy environment.
Review 3:The first bedroom on the ground floor had a broken catch on the large window. The next room was to the front of the house and noisy, although I had asked was it a quiet room like the previous one. The room had been painted two days previously and smelt strongly of paint fumes. I did not figure out the smell until it was too late. Breakfast tasted like it had been cooked at the crack of dawn and kept warm in oven for hours. The hand towel was dirty.
Review 4:The manager was there on my arrival and was friendly and helpful.
Review 5:the beds were too hard for us and so we did not get as good a sleep as needed.
Review 6:I was traveling with my grown daughter ... I liked that ... the lady staff was very helpful to my daughter who was trying to contact our car rental agency and family at home ... the gentleman on the second day helped me contact our next accommodations ... this was the highlight being that communications were difficult ... the breakfast was excellent and the room spacious and clean
Review 7:TV reception in room was absolute rubbish - not ideal when travelling with young children.
Review 8:happy with location. Breakfast was very enjoyable, warm and set you up for the day.
Review 9:I booked this b&b for my nephew for 3 nights and my father for one night. My sister had her wedding nearby. They both had nothing but good things to say. Friendly owners/staff, amazing breakfast & rooms. I look forward to booking a weekend with yourselves myself!
Review 10:This be is a proper little gem right on the edge of Naven town and cleaner and bigger then a lot of 4 star hotels I would highly recommend this beautiful b&b
Review 11:Road noise on a main road, on arrival had no towels and later, no hot water. Very helpful and obliging host offered to move us, but not convenient- noisy footsteps could be heard through door when other guests checking out.
Review 12:The host on duty was so helpful and friendly, the room was very newly decorated.
Review 13:Shower very poor -carpet very stained - toilet very stained - cold - heating not turned on for most of our visit
Review 14:Location was good, parking good, staff very friendly
Review 15:The wifi was non existent in first room, but we were able to move to another room and it worked good there.
Review 16:The staff were great! Ma Dwyers is centrally located to see lots of historical sites.
Review 17:You have to get a taxi in and out from town- but plenty available -so not really a problem
Review 18:This was more like a Motel than a B&B Good size rooms and good food
Review 19:Only problem which was not to do with the actual Guesthouse, was the fact we could have done with a house number on the address. Dublin Rd, Navan is a bit vague especially if you are looking for the place in the dark.
Review 20:Big comfy bedrooms, quiet rooms lovely breakfast.
Review 21:As a couple we were giving a room with two single beds.On arrival back late that night we cudnt get in to our room as the swipe card wudnt work.
Review 22:Great location as we were attending a wedding in a hotel near by.
Review 23:Had to wait too long for service on arrival. Young woman reluctant to help with information and then first gave us a room that had not been prepared. Not a good advert for the business. Room had a stained carpet and the bathroom needed a makeover. The staff member really let the place down. Shame.
Review 24:Parking, good base for exploring the area, lovely rooms downstairs, good breakfast, welcoming man at breakfast.
Review 25:all good
Review 26:Very welcoming and hospitable. Our plane was delayed and we could not get there until 11.15 pm. They were very helpful and accommodating and an excellent breakfast.
Review 27:One of the staff was extremely rude, poor management, internet and phone coverage was poor. Breakfast wasn't that great. My girl friend visited me and when I checked out they were going to charge me for two people. Although, I told them she was only visiting they insisted I was lying!!!! I will never go back! The lady at checkout was more concerned about the money that she forgot to collect the keys off me. Although, I had a great time, I was very upset at the end due to the lady's attitude.
Review 28:The room and the location
Review 29:Very warm welcome. The room was spotless with plenty of room to work. The ladies were simply lovely. I will definitely stay again. I would recommend this place to anybody.
Review 30:I am not sure what has happened as have usually had no complaints when staying here, or if it was just the room we were in on this visit, there was no storage space apart from small area for hanging clothes not enough hangers think were 3 in room, no wash basin plug and the towels although clean are past their best and the ceiling in the bathroom had paint coming off
Review 31:Location was good, very clean, breakfast plenty and well presented, staff helpful
Review 32:It could do with a little freshen up in the bedrooms decor wise, however the beds are so comfortable and bedding and towels in the room are imaculate, no iron or hair dryer in the room but just ask reception and they whisk them up for you ! Very efficient and pleasant staff
Review 33:Very roomy acomadation with everything you'd need.
Review 34:Rooms badly need cleaned. Hardly slept due to traffic noise from the road outside. Not much of a welcome from the young girl on reception. Not very helpful as we were looking for somewhere to eat. Ended up using Google search!
Review 35:Breakfast was good.
Review 36:We arrived for late check in around 10 pm as last check in 11!There was no one around we rang door bell twice then rang the phone to be told that we were to late for check in....but in the end we checked in but were met with hosility as girl was asleep.if you have a late check in someone should be there for it.also only 1 pillow each in room not good enough!!all else was lovely!!
Review 37:Location is great!!rooms were clean and comfortable!!
Review 38:was waiting for about 15 mins for waitress to serve me breakfast, so had to go into the kitchen and ask for service, breakfast was a bit dry, like it was under a grill for too long. when breakfast was served it was missing some things I asked for, mushroom, beans, I allso asked for two fried eggs but only got one, the beans then were served seperate when I was near finished my breakfast, and I never got the mushrooms.
Review 39:Very clean room, quite ,
Review 40:Wifi only worked for us downstairs.
Review 41:Location was ideal to travel to attractions nearby in all directions. Very accommodating as we travelled with a 9 week old child. Breakfast was top notch. Room was ideal, however could have been a bit cleaner in terms of dust. Overall we were more than pleased.
Review 42:One girl there over worked ! As a result very unapproachable! Spent 20mins one morning waiting for service for breakfast ! Waitress walked passed couple of times didn't even acknowledge me ! Left without any breakfast !
Review 43:The staff at Ma Dwyers were brilliant! My son has asperger's and adhd - they totally took this on board and I felt looked after him and understood his needs brilliantly. I would say that the hotel is defo Autism friendly.
Review 44:Room not clean for full 3 night stay. Bathroom no cleaned long black hair in shower and on floor in bathroom. Poo on the bathroom wall. Bed not made daily. Didn't eat breakfast as cereals were left out all day not covered and thought if they don't clean. Didn't want to risk it!!!
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:There is nothing i didnt like about this place
Review 47:Stayed here for 3 nights with my 2 children...had a fantastic stay...room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was excellent..lots of things to choose from to eat..great location for us to go to tayto park, dublin zoo and funtasia...definately would stay here again
Review 48:Only one pillow per person on the bed. No additional pillows in the room. We did get extra pillows when we asked. Front facing room busy road.
Review 49:Very friendly great location
Review 50:The initial welcoming on arrival was poor due to improperly trained staff who made no effort to speak until spoken to. No information was provided on breakfast serving times or checkout times and we had to ask where the room was after being given the keys. The room itself also had cobwebs in several places and one of the beds had no pillows at all.
Review 51:Very good value for money and the location is great. Kitchen staff were very friendly and a nice selection was provided for the breakfast menu. The room also came with some sky free to air channels and free wifi which was very good.
Review 52:Check in on the booking.Com app states it is until 10.30pm. Out of courtesy, I phoned during the evening and explained I would be there at or around the 10.30pm.out mark due to work, but would be showing up which the voice agreed to. When I arrived, the lady was not very friendly and I felt not too impressed with my late arrival. There is a WiFi identification code and a password up on the reception desk, proud as punch which I questioned the staff about as she sorted my keys for check in. As I learned myself, this wifi connection does not exist in bedrooms, along with any phone coverage. I find it very backward for a premise to have neither. The long hallway makes noises very echoey. A loud drunk woman had a phone conversation in the hall at 12.30am which I heard all of with this echo because she woke me. I arrived to the breakfast room at 7.10 and by 7.25 nobody had come near me to ask what I would like cooked. Due to time constraints with work, I then knocked on the kitchen door and asked for tea and toast as I then had time for nothing else due to beginning work at 8. I asked the morning breakfast staff (who was also the designated staff taking my money off me) about the WiFi which she informed me, only existed in the sitting room which was not stated anywhere or by the previous staff member who checked me in.
Review 53:Room and premises were lovely, great shower water pressure and all very clean.
Review 54:I wish they had some feather pillows for those of us who can only sleep with feather pillows. It meant I ahd to bri g me onw. I flew here so had to pack then uin my small cabikn size case (I would ahve been charged extrra for a bigger case as it would have to have been put in the hold).
Review 55:Very friendly and helpful staff and very clean and bright.
Review 56:"Carina" is my cousin. This review is by "Rosernary" but the form would'nt let me change the name! I wish they had some feather pillows for guests that cannot sleep with fibre ones. I get a very bad headache with pillows filled with any other filling. I therefore had to bring my own and coming from outside Ireland (UK) I flew there and brought a small cabin bag (as to put it in to the hold would have been expensive, and I was only staying for 2 nights). I therefore had to get them into my small case and even though they were vacuum packed, they took up a lot of room. !
Review 57:very helpful staff. I lost my keys and they used their phone to help me. Also, allowed me tio use their hoover to re-vacuum pack my feather pillows.
Review 58:en-suite a bit small, carpet stained, the bed was comfortable but the duvet too heavy for the time of year (we didn't ask about a lighter one because we were only staying 2 nights)
Review 59:The staff we had contact with were very nice, especially the lady of the house, the dining room was bright and airy and the choice of food for breakfast was excellent.
Review 60:Only 1 pillow each. Waited 40 minutes just to order breakfast and had to remind the server 2 times of our order because she forget it. Then waited another 15 minutes to get our breakfast. Under staffed.
Review 61:Place was very clean.
Review 62:More like a small hotel than a B&B and as such a little less welcoming than expected. The poached eggs were overcooked and hard
Review 63:Great location. Clean & comfortable.
Review 64:No safe for valuables, walls in our room need a wipe down and the carpet needs a clean.
Review 65:Good value for money. Comfortable and close to Newgrange and Knowth.
Review 66:Staff seemed a little busy/overworked
Review 67:Rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and excellent value for money. Short walk from the bus stop and the town centre.
Review 68:My stay at Ma Dyers was wonderful. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The place looked as if it had been recently renovated, and it was soooo clean. And the road it was on was a delight to walk. And the breakfast was yummy.
Review 69:The shower unit does need some attention.
Review 70:The choice of breakfast was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and did everything to make our stay comfortable.
Review 71:Recommend something be done about the back door to allow it to be used as a fire escaoe. Our room was very near it but the staff couldn't find the key when we wished to exit that way to the parking lot. Also we couldn't leave our window open because of smoke- I'm not sure where it was coming from- so our room was warmer than we enjoy over night.
Review 72:Beautiful! Quiet and easy to find.
Review 73:The only thing that I would recommend would be to have some like of a blind to pull across the skylight window.
Review 74:The Bathroom was very clean and spacious. The room was clean and bright. The breakfast is lovely along with the eating room.
Review 75:Myself and a friend stayed here on a motorbike tour, We received a very warm welcome and were advised of the safest place to park our bikes. There is ample parking here, the twin room was very nice and the breakfast was superb.
Review 76:Rhe WiFi was working in the lobby, but not in the rooms; I guess the repetitors do not work. The receptionist didn't know of any pub in Navan or any sightseeings around (a foreign newcomer?) but there are really nany good pubs and plenty of places worth visiting.
Review 77:Good value for money, easy to find, close (1km) to Navan town centre, but on a busy road.
Review 78:10 mins walk from town, rooms spacious with comfy bed and lovely shower. Breakfast really nice with lots of choice. Nothing too much trouble for staff, Joan was fabulous. I would definately stay here again on my net visit to Navan.
Review 79:Room was a bit warm but was easily resolved by leaving the window open.
Review 80:The lady who runs this is really lovely. The bed was very comfy & brekkie looked fab but I only had bread & toast as wasn't feeling well. They had a great choice though.
Review 81:The room was not up to scratch, broken glass in a frame, stains on the carpet, bag over the fire detector, paint peeling off ceiling above the shower. I thought it was just our room but quite afew were on the same standard.
Review 82:The breakfast choice was fantastic, the lady that run the guesthouse went out of her way to help with our needs
Review 83:There was a lot of hallway noise off the downstairs rooms and you could hear everyone coming/going. carpeting might have helped
Review 84:Nice large beds for double, good shower and very clean.
Review 85:It seems a well though out place is slipping a little. Internet did not work... when planning day to day this is important. Also the desk was too low for the chair and knees to fit under... just details but attention is required
Review 86:Building is nice and location is good.
Review 87:The hard bed- extremely uncomfortable
Review 88:Shw worked so hard to help us with taxi's pillows and lovely breakfasts. Clean and peaceful atmosphere. Wifi good. Location perfect so close to town could have walked. Bed extremely hard only complaint. Would return definately in future.
Review 89:The place location staff, room and service were all of a very high standard, as with my previous stay and at a very reasonable rate, could not fault it
Review 90:wifi was non existent in our room, had to go to breakfast rm or day rm to get reception. Tv was terrible, picture going in and out could not follow anything.
Review 91:food was good, staff was helpful, plenty of parking
Review 92:Very hard to get a 3G signal on my phone. Tried picking up the internal wi-fi signal in the premises but my phone didn't pick it up. This is the only fault I found with the place.
Review 93:Liked the cleanliness of the premises and the comfortable bed. The convenience to the town. I ordered a single room but I ended up in a double room, which was great!! And of course, the price... It's the cheapest place to stay in Navan and the comfort of the room surpasses all the other hotels and B&Bs. I am a regular patron of Ma Dwyers because of all this.
Review 94:This guesthouse without doubt had one of the most comfortable, clean and well presented room I have stayed in. This was not reflected in the price as it was also one of the cheapest. Breakfast was well cooked with no skimping on quality or quantity. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again.
Review 95:not much to dislike. Only thing I can complain about, has nothing to do with owner as such, but people who stayed in this guesthouse on the night we were there as they were talking and shouting all night long.
Review 96:Politeness of the owner, she was very understanding and she would do nearly anything for you. Also cleanness of the place was very high standard. She sure did heck of a job run this business, especially at breakfast time.. loved it
Review 97:The lady owner ( I think she was anyway lol), who seemed to be everywhere . From doing the desk all night and taking orders for breakfast in the morning , brill.
Review 98:We stayed at Ma Dwyers to be near Newgrange and the Dublin airport as we wanted to explore before we ended our trip to Ireland. Facilities were clean and staff were helpful. A little far for a walk to downtown given the rainy weather.
Review 99:The three phone signal was very poor and wi fi was not available that's the only downside as it was a business meeting we were attending.
Review 100:Great location, so comfortable and lovely food. And a lovely host.
Review 101:We did not appreciate a member of staff knocking on our door at 10.20 a.m. in the morning. We understood that 12.00 p.m. was leaving time. This spoiled our stay.
Review 102:Shower was not very good. Booked through booking.com and when we turned they didn't have any evidence of our booking!! They had to accommodate 13 of us! Luckily they had room available.
Review 103:Comfortable room and good location.
Review 104:The girl on the check in desk is very rude and out of order. We payed €75 one person left for a meeting at 8am and was offered no breakfast even though it was paid for, myself and another group member left at 10:30 without being offered breakfast and even though checkout was 12 they knocked at 10 to see when they could clean the room. Very badly run I think
Review 105:The location was exactly what I needed
Review 106:very friendly and accomodating staff, comfortable surroundings and situated close to all amenities and great value with a hearty breakfast included, highly reccomended.
Review 107:No complaints.
Review 108:Modern and spacious. Room spotless and spacious. Staff lovely. Breakfast lovely. All round a very pleasant stay. Would recommend it to anyone.
Review 109:The bathroom smelled really bad of stale water and the sink plug was stuck in the sink so the water didn't empty.
Review 110:The room was big, clean and perfect for a short stay. Very close to the ArdBoyne hotel and great value for money.
Review 111:None -- just fyi -- wifi does not work on ground floor bedrooms -- when I stayed there.
Review 112:Good breakfast; nice rooms; felt like a hotel, but it was a guest house. A step up from usual guest house offerings.
Review 113:The whole building was lovely and warm, we could control the heat in our room which was great. Good shower, lovely breakfast choice & helpful staff.
Review 114:If there was one downside the bedrooms lacked wi-fi
Review 115:Great location, excellent breakfast, better than most 4 star hotels I have stayed in the past. Joan is warm hospitable and welcoming. Room was spacious and comfortable, the ensuite bathroom was excellent.
Review 116:Beautiful guesthouse. Very welcoming. Lovely king bed all to myself! Hotel menu for breakfast.Lovely staff. Fire doors throughout and fire exits clearly marked.
Review 117:My room was located on the ground floor meters from reception, once other guest awoke I awoke, everyone may as well have checked out in my room or had breakfast in my room and I had ear plugs in. Would happily stay again but upstairs this time.
Review 118:Ample parking, good security, friendly staff
Review 119:Can't fault it really.
Review 120:Joan was very welcoming and ensured that everything was just right. Facilities were very good. Ample parking facilities. Will definitely be staying again
Review 121:There was no hairdryer in the room and one of our lamps did not work so that was a bit of a let down. When we had breakfast our whole group of 7 people received raw eggs instead of boiled and had to return many times until we gave up.
Review 122:Rooms were spacious and clean
Review 123:Very under staffed only one person seemed to be there and she seem under alot of pressure at check in and check out . Think she was also the one cooking the breakfast . Also there was no towels or hairdryer in the room . However when asked for them not a problem overall it was not bad and the girl done her best have stayed before and will again . Just wondering if the owner was on holiday when we stayed.
Review 124:The breakfast
Review 125:Ma Dwyers B&B is in and ideal location and provide great value for money. It provides the same service and quality that you would expect from a hotel with the personal feel of a B&B. The room was large and all the facilities were spotlessly clean. I will be staying here in future when I go to Navan.
Review 126:The ensuite was a bit worn, and could with some minor repairs.
Review 127:The location, which allowed walking in to Navan for the party. The breakfast, which was a great Irish one. The price, which was very reasonable indeed.
Review 128:Very welcoming staff. Place was clean and warm. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was delicious. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend to others.
Review 129:Friendly, helpful & professional staff. Rooms were modern, spacious, clean & comfortable. Price was excellent. Breakfast had great variety & tasted great. We will be booking again!
Review 130:The facility is not as homey and personal as a B & B. We didn't know the difference between a Guest House and a B&B until we stayed at Ma Dwyer's Guest House.
Review 131:Comforatable, within walking distance to a good Hotel dining room. All in all, a pretty good place to stay a night.
