Reviews for St George's Hotel
Review 1:Nothing,the hotel cannot be faulted.
Review 2:All staff were friendly, welcoming, happy and professional, especially those in the bar and restaurant. The hotel made great efforts to cater for individual wishes, needs or quirks.Quality and presentation of food excellent, choice and quantity at breakfast very big;good choice of evening meals;good variety of teas, coffees, alcoholic drinks.Large and comfortable bar, lounge and restaurant area, plenty of comfortable seating;terrace has lovely views of sea, promenade, pier and both Ormes;main dining area(Wedgewood Room) is beautiful, with chandeliers and large mirrors.Rooms are good, beds large and comfortable, plenty of pillows;complimentary tea, coffee, filtered and bottled water, replenished daily. The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere.Cannot fault the hotel in any way at all.
Review 3:The location of the hotel was excellent, as was the food and the service. I was pleased with my room, but thought it was a bit overpriced for a rear view. park view
Review 4:when we arrived in our room we were delighted to see some wrapped gifts for us and 2 small bottles of wine and a xmas card with chocolate. Unfortunately we soon realised a mistake had been made and they were in fact not for us. They were taken away with an apology. l Later on at dinner however, we were presented with a complementary bottle of wine because of the mix up. all the staff were very helpful and friendly and we would definitely stay here again
Review 5:The staff were lovely and very accommodating. Very nice hotel. Excellent breakfast. Ideal location on the prom and near the shops. Will certainly come again.
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:Not all large hotels are customer friendly. This one was. We had a great stay. Nice room, comfortable bed, good location on sea front near town centre. Breakfast excellent
Review 8:On checking out gave my loyalty card to the receptionist, she informed me that as I had booked through booking.com I was not entitled to the points, this has never happened to us before and I was a bit taken aback by her attitude towards me, the desk was extremely busy and I did not take the matter any further as I was embarrassed. Have you changed your policy?
Review 9:As Frequent visitors, the ambience has not changed and the food is just as good each time we visit
Review 10:Hotel was absolutely stunning as you walk in, looks gorgeous with all the Christmas decs up, the room was very well decorated bathroom was gorgeous it is just a lovely hotel x
Review 11:excellent dinner in the terrace restaurant and equally good breakfast in the Wedgewood room - both times we were seated by a window and able to enjoy the location. Smallish bedroom but with everything we needed and very comfortable. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 12:On arrival no towels in room. Asked at reception and towels appeared but was not given a bath mat to stand on - floor in bathroom was very slippy when wet.
Review 13:Location. Food very good. Staff very friendly. Very good secure parking at rear.
Review 14:We enjoyed our stay so much, we could'nt fault anything. Staff were helpful, friendly and obliging - excellent in fact !The hotel was itself was superb, how we would love to stay at Christmas!!
Review 15:The staff were fabulous, they couldn't do enough to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food and wine was great and all of the group enjoyed the excellent evening meal.
Review 16:The two bedrooms we booked were very small, considering they were doubles. Parking is round the corner and limited, but they allow you to double park and if you give Reception your car keys they will juggle the cars around, as necessary.
Review 17:The hotel staff were all very professional and courteous. Dinner and breakfast were both of a high standard. The restaurant is long and narrow, but designed to make the most of the fantastic views of the promenade, Great Orme and the bay while having dinner.
Review 18:Our reception..... and the porter who carried all our luggage from our car (despite appalling weather) to our room. The hotel was comfortable and warm with good facilities. Food options were excellent.
Review 19:Very good service received from every member of staff that we came in touch with. One extremely minor problem dealt with immediately very well and very politely. Would recommend this hotel to anybody.
Review 20:For the price we had a room on the 4th florr which was like an attic room, which was compact. Bathroom had a shower but no bath.
Review 21:Fantastic location with ample free car park at rear of hotel. Staff could not do enough for you.
Review 22:Mushrooms at breakfast a bit chewy ! - Food could have been hotter. Would have preferred a sea view.
Review 23:Evening dinner menu and view from restaurant. Staff at reception dealt with queries efficiently. Maintenance in room carried out speedily.
Review 24:why a corkage charge if you drink your own alcohol in room. i would exspect that in a cheap b+b in Rhyl but not in a hotel of this standard .do you need the money that bad ?.
Review 25:lovely hotel.nice staff in breakfast room. very good choice at breakfast.
Review 26:Staff were friendly & helpful. The room and public areas absolutely pristine. Excellent choice of food & drinks. Having an elderly mother, we noticed the disabled facilities were excellent and would suit us the next time we take her away. Overall the hotel was to drawer in every respect.
Review 27:Everything was excellent, especially the staff. We were a family group of 3 generations (8 in total) and everyone was catered for and we all had a wonderful break. Nothing was too much trouble
Review 28:We had to go home after two days stay due to illness and had we was booking through you we had to pay the full amount though the hotel said if booked directly they would have rebursted us the day we had left. We will know next time to book directly Mr T M Tingle
Review 29:Not a bad experience but the room on third floor was a bit small to be described as a double. It was ok for the single traveller in a double bed.
Review 30:Superb location. First class dinner well presented on the terrace.
Review 31:We were disappointed in the room we stayed in it was not worth the money it cost .
Review 32:Location was very good and the staff were really helpful , the meals were very good especially the breakfast.
Review 33:Very little car parking, as us the case with most of these sea front hotels, but many have access from a small park at the rear, this one does not, it does send a porter to carry luggage, but the guests have to walk around to the front, regardless of weather. The hotel temperature was exceedingly high.
Review 34:Did not find anything exceptional with this hotel, it was not poor and at a push I would go again.
Review 35:Parking a bit tight but at least there was somewhere, off road, and we've seen a lot worse.
Review 36:Super location - beautiful Victorian hotel with great attention to staff performance and attire. Restaurant meals excellent and service at the restaurant faultless. Altogether, this must be one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Value for money was good through Booking.com - not so sure it would have been if we had booked directly with the hotel.
Review 37:Lack of car parking. Dull lounge and dining areas. No drawers for clothing in bedroom. Very expensive for small double.
Review 38:Likeable staff. Great view over bay. Good food quality and variety.
Review 39:It was a shame that we did not have the chance of eating breakfast in the front area of the hotel or the large dining room. The food area in the small dining room was very squashed Could you find a smoking area that was not in the main doorway of the hotel? It was not very pleasant to have to push through a group of smokers when entering the hotel
Review 40:Very convenient, staff were very professional and helpful. Comfortable room.
Review 41:We were very satisfied with the hotel - only one minor complaint the bacon and sausage contained too much salt
Review 42:Comfortable room, good food, courtesy shown to us at all time by the staff who were keen to make our stay enjoyable. The position of the hotel was excellent.
Review 43:there was not really any where to sit and meet and talk to other guests. the area was used by non guests waiting for a table and was not suitable for either purpose. it was not cheap. the room was very small. the bathroom was tired.
Review 44:the staff were all very helpful. we had a sea view which we were not expecting. the food was very good. the location is good.
Review 45:In the room there is a note saying to ring reception for fresh milk for your tea tray and ice for the ice bucket provided, we did but it never came ! We had booked 3 nights B&B but on checking out we were informed that our deal with Booking.com had actually included dinner on the Saturday night. This wasn't on our receipt of confirmation so we missed out as the hotel receptionist never mentioned it either ! I have emailed Booking.com but have had no reply, so please check your deal if booking through them.
Review 46:Great sea front location, Lovely room if a little on the small side, with a sea view (if only the window would open more than a couple of inches ) Little extras provided - iron & board, bottled water, sew kit, shoe polish, shower gels, flannels, soap, tissues, hair dryer (but not very powerful and you have to keep finger on button) Gorgeously comfortable bed/bedding/pillows, plenty of choice at breakfast.
Review 47:The shower was a bit of a let down, first day the shower tray had blocked up with some gooey stuff!! Towel rail not working, and the little pots of milk were all curded.
Review 48:The staff, breakfast, lunch in the bar -lounge, nice relaxing weekend, good night sleep! Good parking space, we will be back!
Review 49:Would have been nice to have a room with a bath. 4th floor room was cosy 404.
Review 50:Great friendly helpful staff - nice and clean accommodation great sea views. Excellent breakfast, great choice/ selection, nice sausages. Food all good we had an evening meal also very good
Review 51:The beds were too soft and were on castors so every time you moved the bed did too. The floor boards were very creaky.
Review 52:Staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel was immaculately clean. The food was delicious. The location was perfect.
Review 53:The room was too small, more suited to a single rather than a double, with the dresser right against the side of the bed against which on the first night I managed to bang my head. When we made enquiries we were told no other rooms available.
Review 54:Location, breakfast, facilities and staff.
Review 55:We thought the carpets were a little tired. Rooms were a bit stuffy. The car parking was very difficult, it would be helpful if there was an entrance to the hotel from the car park.
Review 56:Helpful staff as it was very busy being a bank holiday. We would like to know of any special deals for the future. We would like to come again.
Review 57:Great hotel in an excellent location. Staff were always on hand to help and service was first class. Food was superb, dinner served in great location with wonderful views of the great and little ormes.
Review 58:Dark rooms due to poor lighting. Not being able to book for a table for dinner in the bar area overlooking the prom. Staff in there were very off hand when we asked if there would be a table available later on. Loads of room in the other restaurant but that was very expensive.
Review 59:Food was good and so was the location.
Review 60:I have booked for the last six years on booking.com travelling alone and always had a lovely room on the 4th floor overlooking the Gt. Orme. This year I booked two single rooms as my sister came too but the rooms were at the rear and not so large. I am unable to make a definite date each year so booked online as they offer flexibility of dates until much nearer the date. I am wondering if this would be offered if I booked direct and was able to select a room.
Review 61:Thoroughly enjoyed the terrace bar and light meals overlooking the seafront. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere very relaxed. Breakfast in the beautiful dining room excellent
Review 62:room service menu could have had more variety after 930 and a smal condiment bowl would be helpful on room service tray rather than order individually .
Review 63:staff couldn't be more helpful , very positive happy attitudes.
Review 64:Unfortunately, our room, while clean and comfortable, was quite small and overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel. A little disappointing.
Review 65:The location of the hotel is excellent, across the road from prom, short walk to pier and shops, The staff were friendly and obliging, especially the breakfast staff who were very attentive.
Review 66:Can't think of a bad thing to say everything was great for us.
Review 67:Loved the atmosphere of the hotel, old fashioned elegance and good manners with modern twists such as free wifi.
Review 68:Aparently the wifi could do with being abit better in rooms more than the public areas
Review 69:Booked this for my mum and dads wedding anniversary, they were extremely happy with their stay and highly recommend this hotel
Review 70:The front lounge area could have been a great place to relax but there were not enough comfortable chairs for the number of residents. On the Friday morning the hotel was preparing for a wedding so the dining room was unavailable for breakfast. The guests had to queue to enter a small room. Many retired guests with mobility issues like myself found this difficult. I gave up checked out for going my breakfast on the last morning. No apologies and unacceptable considering the room rate.
Review 71:The location was great with views of the bay access to hotel and local amenities was good
Review 72:Lovely location...the band out on the Promenade. Even if the car park was full, they kept the cars and moved them around so all would fit. Lovely sea views.
Review 73:For £160 a night my room was small, overlooked the car park and was just above a noisy ventilation shaft. The shower/toilet was the size of a closet but the shower was superb. Dad had a disabled room which was a fab size, great view, however, the shower was over the bath which made it tricky and dangerous for him to get into. Expensive. £640 for 2 rooms, 2 nights, B&B
Review 74:I visited with my 82 yr old dad. He has mobility problems so the following were very important. All of which were great! The Parking, the location, the access, the staff, the ambience. Cleanliness and breakfast was good.
Review 75:Parking can be difficult at busy times
Review 76:Lovely hotel in an excellent location, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely clean room with everything you need to make for a very pleasant stay, would stay again
Review 77:As a solo traveller I much appreciated the manner in which I was treated by all members of staff. I felt that they were really interested in meeting my needs in every respect
Review 78:The car park should be accessible from the rear of the hotel instead of having to go through the front door, down the road, turn left then left again.
Review 79:Very helpful and pleasant staff. Good breakfasts, fair evening meals which I thought were a little expensive
Review 80:Having to book a table every night for dinner. Too much meat on plate and very small portion of raw mini veg.
Review 81:Very comfortable hotel with every need catered for.
Review 82:Stylish hotel , excellent sea front position. Service from staff was exceptional more than met our every requirement. Superb facilities for travellers with mobility problems lift /chair lift for stairs / ramped entrance etc Superb varied breakfast and good food in the lounge/bar area. Def return
Review 83:We had two dinners, one where the lamb was'nt quite right, the other quite nice though. The management obligingly refunded us the price of the meal sent back.Would return.
Review 84:The hotel generally was good, very ornate - the service seemed ok (we only stayed one night) - clean room - wi fi v/good - outside veranda restaurant superb - breakfast v/good - dinner good.
Review 85:The hotel has a pleasant, relaxing ambience where the staff obviously work like Trojans to meet a high standard of customer service. The food was delicious and I highly recommend the fish and chips. A good variety a breakfast too. Very pleasant staff!
Review 86:My wife is coeliac and the staff were able to advise what dishes were suitable or if they could be adapted. The hotel also had gluten free bread.
Review 87:The breakfast is more of a served buffet and so some items were a tad cold, but the whole experience was lovely.
Review 88:The location is wonderful - right next to the Pier. The building is beautiful, and there is a small car park to the rear.
Review 89:Hard pillows (personal preference )
Review 90:The hotel was amazing lovely features with wall pictures of how it used to look we didnt get to see everything as was only there one night.
Review 91:Very squeaky floor in room. Parking a nightmare!
Review 92:Clean, comfortable hotel with helpful staff. Excellent breakfast choice. Good location for town centre.
Review 93:Could do with more comfy seating areas. Parking very limited. Price of sea view supplement rather steep. Would like to have opened the window wider but realise this is a safety issue.l
Review 94:nothing was too much trouble for the staff.Very comfortable bed, everywhere spotlessly clean, breakfast excellent.
Review 95:Asked for a promenade room but none left so our room overlooked a roof with a rusty old air con unit, not even a car park view!
Review 96:Great breakfast and friendly staff!
Review 97:The low temperature of the bathroom....no radiator except the towel rail. The washbasin plug mechanism was obviously broken and changed to a poorly designed stopper. Shower door obstructive rather than helpful.
Review 98:The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent in quality and quantity of food. The table service was very good too.
Review 99:Very poor service in the restaurant. No table set for us for breakfast for both days of our stay. Eventually a table - had to ask for tea/coffee toast and then butter and knives and forks. Don't like buffet breakfast - I like to be served a hot plate and breakfast at my table - just like at a shearings hotel - which was much better value for money and far superior service. I mean this in a constructive manner.
Review 100:Beautifully decorated hotel and dining room.
Review 101:Everything was fantastic. I have never met a more friendly and helpful staff. We was a family party of 7 adults and 3 children. We was celebrating my late dads 90th birthday. We had a private room for our evening meal, and we're all seated together at breakfast.
Review 102:For the cost I felt the room was small, the staff were dismissive, with the exception of the porter and one waiter (male) in the restaurant. Felt that the hotel needed a little TLC.
Review 103:The position of the hotel
Review 104:Bar was shut at 11pm even to residents
Review 105:Lovely rooms, comfy beds, good quality linen and towels, plenty of hot water, huge bath + excellent HOT breakfast served on HOT plates! Parking is an issue, but good cheap overnight car park just up the road
Review 106:only problem was proximity to fairground (Victorian extravaganza weekend). First night they were setting up until 11.30. kept everyone awake. many customers complained although manager did go and find out what was going on. Not hotels fault but was very noisy with generator going for so long. Rides too close to hotel.
Review 107:evening meal and service superb! Bit different at breakfast. Food still good but service not so good.
Review 108:Parking not many spaces but we still managed to park
Review 109:I got engaged when I stayed much to my surprise the staff became aware and we had free processco and we're made to feel very special loved everything about this hotel
Review 110:very minor quibble > electronic plastic card keys can be tempermental but soon sorted by Reception
Review 111:made to feel that the staff really did want me to enjoy my stay not only in the hotel but Llandudno also. Excellent food.
Review 112:Parking limited but available on the sea front, but spaces tend to be a walk away. Staff helpful but not as friendly as b&b 's we have stayed in. Glad we have had the experience but rather over priced for what it is.
Review 113:Excellent location overlooking the sea, breakfast above average quality with lots of choice.
Review 114:Everything from the location, friendliness of all staff, the hotelitself and fantastic meals. We will certainly book at this ideal hotelagain on our next trip over to the U.K.as it proved to be our best twoday stay of all 9 hotels we stayed in over a month in England and Wales.
Review 115:No bad experiences, but ability to open the room window would have been appreciated, as the nights were muggy.
Review 116:A warm welcome. Friendly and considerate staff, especially to we two elderly people with walking difficulty. Excellent food. The car delivery service was much appreciated.
Review 117:the shower folding screen was not fitting correctly on the topside of the bath badly worn requires replacing ,Also the view outside the Bedroom window there was old scrap air ducting needs removing after all it is AA **** hotel & it is not cheap to stay there.
Review 118:Having booked for a luxury weekend we arrived to find our room was well below standard. Even the manager said he was embarrassed about the condition of the room which was shabby to say the least! Unfortunately as they were full, they were unable to move us.
Review 119:Staff and the facilities in the hotel were great.
Review 120:Unfortunately our first night was spent in a room with inadequate heating and it was so cold I was unable to sleep. We were moved the following day.
Review 121:Beautiful traditional hotel with very friendly and attentive staff. Fantastic location on the seafront. Excellent food in the restaurant and bar.
Review 122:No fridge. No safe. No access to the car park except via a long walk. No bath. No swimming pool. No ability to upgrade our room because we booked with Booking.com !!! The worst rooms go to people booking via Booking.com we were told by the reception staff. Finally we were 2 people in a double room and they charged us extra because we were 2 people in a double room; we should only have had 1 person in a double room !! We are serious world travelers and have never ever experienced this before anywhere else in the world ! The receptionist said that it was a misunderstanding-------but we were still charged extra for 2 people in a double room !! I argued twice, then gave in and paid when the bill came--------in future I will book with my feet----to "The Quay" in Deganwy.
Review 123:The staff were brilliant (except the management/reception staff) , they worked as a team. The Hotel needs updating to modern standards then it would be brilliant because it is in a brilliant situation.
Review 124:Car parking is not great, but much better than other hotels in the area, first come first served. But can park in the road, which is absolutely fine. Some people just don't like walking !!!!
Review 125:Excellent service, friendly staff, lovely food, and great rooms, brilliant with our 3 year old, Overall fantastic hotel
Review 126:Room was cold. Hotel decided when to put the heating on & off. Drinks very expensive. This hotel needs a proper, comfortable lounge seating area. We felt this area was almost laid out as an after thought.
Review 127:Bed was lovely. Had a really good sleep each night Food is excellent. Beautiful shower. Large bathroom..Jack serving in Lounge/Bar was very attentive & friendly.
Review 128:Everything very clean bedroom, friendly staff from cleaners to waiters to receptionists. All of the staff were very helpful I would recommend St George's to anyone. Hope to come again one day . Thank you.
