Reviews for Best Western Banbury House Hotel
Review 1:Really liked room 146 although it seemed a long way out at first! Well appointed and very comfortable - we've stayed a few times and this was a lovely place to be.
Review 2:Tired and in need of refurbishment. Our room was non smoking but smelled 'foisty' maybe it had been a smoking room before. Food was ok but not great and service was slow.
Review 3:Location was good
Review 4:I just put my boots up to wardrobe and have one roll, and no ody put any advice,i talk to the staff and nobody resolve my problem and dont tell me about any refund
Review 5:Jist a cleaning lady she so polite
Review 6:Hotel rather shabby and in need of upgrade though I understand this is to happen next year. Lack of lift facility a big disadvantage for this Hotel.
Review 7:Staff friendly. Food excellent. Beds comfortable
Review 8:Breakfast poor. Staff not friendly. Bar no atmosphere for the price facilities in room poor
Review 9:Location fantastic reception brilliant most staff very helpful. Some not so.bar staff freindly
Review 10:Nothing in particular, but just as a sole traveller they only had 1 room left which was £105 so wasn't that great value for me!
Review 11:I booked this late on late rooms due to business requirements. I arrived quite late that evening, but the room was clean and comfortable and everything was fine.
Review 12:No bar staff on arrival after 20 min wait expected better service for £210 i paid for 2 nights so walked to town centre for a drink
Review 13:Reception good and helpful car park good
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:First impression, when walking through the door, was very cosy and clean, then the receptionist/duty manager was very friendly, as if we'd been visiting for years and as if we were old friends. (As a receptionist I know how important it is for first impressions). On our 3 day stay, not one member of staff was unpleasant, always very polite and acknowledged you. Also very helpful, when needed. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable, the cuppa was great too. The bar was very comfy and the food was lovely and plentiful. (Downside, but ONLY for me, I missed out on having a meal in the restaurant, for an early birthday treat. It was closed on Sunday evening.) Breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from. Both my partner and I felt very at ease and relaxed so I've already booked for next year. Thank you.
Review 16:Rooms located at the front of the property can be noisy due to busy main road.
Review 17:Bed was extremely comfortable and room was very clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Review 18:The fire alarm (false alarms) going off twice in the night.
Review 19:Free on site parking. Easy access. Only stayed one night "en route" and arrived late in the evening so cannot add anything else.
Review 20:The exterior could do with a lick of paint to freshen it up - beautiful but a little tired!
Review 21:It was in a great location and the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful! The twin room was spacious and spotlessly clean!
Review 22:Free access to WiFi but was only able to use it on the ground floor. No signal up on the second floor.
Review 23:Old building with a quirky layout but has character. Room tastefully decorated, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom and good standard of cleanliness. Free parking behind hotel and only a short walk from the centre of Banbury.
Review 24:The hotel is hidden behind the main road with only a small sigh that we missed 3times,when you do get there there is only staires to the door which isn't great with luggage or when you are disabled then having checked in and not been offered help to the room we looked for the lift and had to ask other guests who said they hadn't found 1 we then had to get help from guests to gets the bags up the stairs.the rooms are so hot no ac we were absolutely melting and it wasn't even that warn outside, the bed had a sharp bit of wire sticking out that cut my sons leg after complaining and filling in forms we weren't even offered any money back I wouldn't ever return the only good thing was the restaurant the food was lovely ,also in our room which was a triple for 3people you get a double and single which is fine only it was the smallest double I've ever seen.
Review 25:The restaurant and food were nice the staff not to bad
Review 26:Although the room was fine it was 50 paces and 39 steps from reception. We accepted it even though a move was offered
Review 27:Two of the staff were excellent, the receptionist was most helpful and we could not have had a more attentive waitress than Nikki.
Review 28:Brusque and impolite night staff (male) at reception Breakfast waitress with insufficient command of English to properly answer questions on the 2 for 1 breakfast tariff.
Review 29:Excellent room, quiet hotel. Charming receptionist at check-out in the morning.
Review 30:1. Waited an hour for food ordered at the bar. 2. Raucous late night revellers outside the window until 3:30a.m. 3. Unable to raise jammed window blind on arrival. 4.Ingress of water damage to window sill
Review 31:The restaurant was air conditioned making the cooked breakfast get cold very quickly. When asked for it to be turned down the waitress did so but was then overruled by the supervisor who explained that it would be turned up again to ensure fruit/ham/cheese remained cool. This was obviously more important than client comfort!
Review 32:No fridge in the room. No bottled water, tap water was softened water. Heated towel rail was stuck on in an upstairs room during a heatwave.
Review 33:Excellent location and very friendly staff.
Review 34:The fact that other guests were extremely noisy during the night (from roughly 1.30-2.30am), and nothing was done about it. Made for a very interrupted night's sleep.
Review 35:Friendliness of staff
Review 36:We had 2 people in wheelchairs and they needed to be carried up and down stairs for bar and toilets. Staff require training in bar and waiting on.
Review 37:Rooms comfortable, lovely cooked food.
Review 38:An excellent facility for the price. Excellent English breakfast. Right on a major road. Easy to find. Parking a bit tight for a right driving American but it was free and convenient, 70 minutes from Heathrow Very pleasant staff
Review 39:Unfortunately the restaurant was not open on Sunday night.
Review 40:the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was large and comfortable. Had a lovely meal Saturday night.
Review 41:Lots of stairs to and from our room due to the way the hotel has taken over a number of houses.
Review 42:Room was well furnished, seemed a long way from the reception. Good breakfast. Wifi worked well
Review 43:The lack of a lift. Second floor was a little too much of a trek! Covered car parking spaces were rather a tight fit!
Review 44:Prompt service at breakfast a real +. Ease of on-line booking.
Review 45:Quality of the Christmas party night was poor. Food felt like it had been knocked out on mass and the music left a lot to be desired. Not exactly a show piece of their services.
Review 46:Most of the staff were friendly and courteous.
Review 47:Wifi connection in the room I had (102) was variable. Tv reception for some channels was poor, and there is only a limited number of freeview channels
Review 48:Single room was adequate in size with a small double bed. The bathroom was spacious, and had bath and shower (over bath).
Review 49:The carpet in the bedroom was quite grubby. The shower curtain too short so all the water went all over the floor.
Review 50:The staff were accommodating with early and late check outs. The breakfast was good. The staff were also very freindly.
Review 51:The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town but within easy walking distance . We had a very clean and comfortable room, fresh towels and a lovely shower. Lots of choices at breakfast and very friendly staff .
Review 52:The carpet in the rooms was quite worn and the shower curtain was too short so water went all over the floor. However the hotel is well priced.
Review 53:The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good.
Review 54:A well situated hotel with safe parking. Nicely decorated, comfortable spacious room. Modern bathroom. Evening meal and breakfast were of high quality. We will use this hotel when we visit the Banbury area - usually 3 or 4 times a year.
Review 55:narrow corridors with lots of stairs and fire doors were awkward with a large bag. Lack of information in the room about the hotel and area.
Review 56:convenient free parking, close to town centre, good sized room
Review 57:Too many stairs, up and down and around to access our room. Very difficult with the cases. Five sets of stairs to negotiate and passages in between. No Lift and no staff assistance. A number of old properties of varying levels joined together. Not suitable for mature travelers
Review 58:Car parking convoluted and as the visit clashed with a wedding reception, crowded. Suffered a puncture whist manoeuvring around the many parking options!
Review 59:Early room breakfast on time and good. Check in swift and effective. Response to puncture sympathetic but non-committal.
