Reviews for Cranbrook Hotel
Review 1:Uncomfortable room. Slamming doors. Had to queue for half an hour to check in. Breakfast was horrible. There was a stain on my sheet. Difficult to park
Review 2:Was convenient for our trip
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:this hotel was easy to find and well located just off the north circular and close to ilford rail station which was important to me. off road parking also a big plus room was comfortable and average breakfast, more than ample and good choice of food. the cost of stay
Review 5:Both me and my partner god bed bugs right the morning after. I had to apply aloe vera cream everywhere and they are still bursting. There is a community of people living in some of the hotel. They were extremely loud, smoking, standing outside the door with kids running around making noise early in the morning. They were non-empthatic towards other hotel stayers. I felt like I was back at home and hotels are supposed to be complete opposite. Otherwise I would've stayed in my bedroom.
Review 6:The staff were welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable enough for one stay. Good location to Central Line and Westfield.
Review 7:Hotel is old. Room needs proper repair, sink full of cracks, dirty walls and old carpet. Extra blanket smelt of dump and dirt. Room had one single bad and double bed, single bed was almost in the middle of the room, didn't fit at all. Room seems like for 3 people and I found only 1 spoon..
Review 8:Location. Money value. Staff extremely helpful, polite and friendly, amazing customer service!
Review 9:There was something like bugs in room.one bite me on my feet and still m feeling irritation and we have changed our plan to stay and have some bad smell. Please spray there to make it more comfortable.Overall stay was not very enjoyable.
Review 10:Good location and room was spacious.
Review 11:Nothing to dislike - it's a budget hotel and you get what you pay for.
Review 12:cheap and cheerful - perfectly ok for a bed for the night. Great breakfast included and breakfast staff so friendly.Have decided to stay long term.
Review 13:They had a party next door was working nights and some lad was trying to sell me brother drugs outside
Review 14:Nothing to like about this hotel Apart from the price
Review 15:If the glass panels on top of the doors to our room be covered or taken off and replaced because every time people come back in to the corridor the was like lite up ?
Review 16:the location was superb and very friendly staff.
Review 17:old furniture and carpets;
Review 18:Good staff members, especially the breakfast team; always with a smile, welcoming, apologised appropriately in busy times and helped with feeding our young kids.
Review 19:Wish I had more outlet plugs on the room . But I worked my way around it .
Review 20:I loved the size of the room , there suite bathroom and the daily room service.
Review 21:My husband needed a Hotel for long term work commitments. He stayed all last week to see if it would be what he needed and is now booked for a further 3 weeks! I think that speaks for itself.
Review 22:The carpets needs changing seriously they look horrible
Review 23:The beds are nice and confortable and the staff have the best customer service I just wish they can change the carpets they look terrible but other than that I loved it. Value for money
Review 24:Not on main road but near enough to hear traffic. Parking tight but just enough.
Review 25:Typical businessman/contractor hotel. All the basics. Close to Ilford high street. Good size room and bathroom.
Review 26:No real bacon at breakfast
Review 27:Easy access to London . Close to shops. Good parking at hotel. Large size rooms. Friendly check in desk, always said hello or good day as you come and go, which makes you feel welcome.
Review 28:Room was shabby, bathroom was basic and not clean. Matress was very uncomfortable. No lampshade on main ceiling light.
Review 29:Staff were helpful, freindly and efficient. Room was warm.
Review 30:Accommodation unsuitable for little kids. Car park not ideal. Shower in bathroom dangerous as risk of scalding. Kids could only have a bath and we prefer shower
Review 31:Friendly staff. Close to Ilford station
Review 32:The room, beds, carpets etc all old and rubbish got itching problem when I reached home. Also gave me triple bed instead of double which I asked for, I didn't need that extra beds in that rooms. Next time wouldn't book in
Review 33:Toilets that is I I liked about it
Review 34:Everything. The quality of the room and fittings were very poor, old and in dreadful condition. The main door to the room didn't fit properly, the bathroom didn't close at all. There was an overall strange and unpleasant smell plus a very strong bleach smell which affected my asthma!!! We stayed 45 minutes and left, couldn't bear to sleep there!!!! Dirty bathroom floor, badly stained carpet in the room. The room was in an annexe the entrance to which was extremely shabby again with badly fitting doors and locks.
Review 35:The Internet was not working efficiently, was not able to get my children entertained as I'd envisaged.
Review 36:The fact that it is pocket friendly and trains to central Lonfon was not bad.
Review 37:Had to find fault, I guess no sink plug was the only niggle.
Review 38:Great room, hudge comfy double bed, spotless en-suite. Plenty of fluffy towels. Always have a place to park.
Review 39:Shower had a bit of a hot water problem, WiFi had almost non existent signal and neighbours had music very loud, but staff resolved it. Apart from that a perfect and pleasant stay!
Review 40:Fantastic price, room was huge and very comfortable with a nice view. Very friendly and lovely staff and the breakfast in the morning was absolutely incredible, definitely best I've ever experienced staying in a London hotel!
Review 41:Wash basin was too small in toilet. Room was not sound proof. The room door had 2 inch air space from bottom. Double bed was not actually double bed but 2 single bed were joined together.
Review 42:Staff are good. Location is good.
Review 43:When we arrived at hotel, receptionist told us that you've not booked your room and they gave us visiting card of best western hotel which was near to This hotel, we went that hotel and was superb 10/10...thanks
Review 44:The sheets dint fit the bed. Decor very dated and shabby, the room was wall to wall with the breakfast room TV blasted at 6am white the staff noisily set up. Hotel pre authorised my card for one value but took switch for the full amount leaving me minus £130 for 3 days. Issue is still on going g with the hotel. Super is or raised his voice to myself while discussion the matter. All communications will now be in writing.
Review 45:The only be if it to this hotel was is location to the railway station into London.
Review 46:The bedroom was tatty..... Expanding foam coming out of holes and a rodent bait box near the bed...... Poor water pressure for a shower
Review 47:The food was tasty and hot
Review 48:Wi-fi didn't work, even thought that staff tried to fix it, dampness. Deposit was taken, but in Hotel's policy it states - NO DEPOSIT.
Review 49:Breakfast, staff.
Review 50:Staff were helpful in supplying me with an easy access room as I am disabled. Clean sheets on all the beds in the family room provided. I know there are some decorative issues within the establishment but the accommodation was adequate for my needs, and there was an excellent choice of food st breakfast. No complaints and good value.
Review 51:The overall state of the hotel seems to be in need of renovation. The walls are quite thin so noises can be easily heard from surrounding rooms/hallway, the shower taps were leaking and the room was humid.
Review 52:The staff was rather helpful and pleasant, enjoyable to communicate with them. Overall, I think you get what you pay for.
Review 53:Old furniture, bed made out of 2 cubes with a matelass on it. Wi fi was a joke not working most of the time, lack of hair drier as in the advertise
Review 54:Towels changed every day, fair breakfast.
Review 55:wifi did not work, the small tv could not get a signal for most of the channels and was wonky on the wall. Toilet seat had a crack in which I didnt realise until it pinched me. Bed was rock hard with one pillow which was 2cm thick. Walls are like cardboard, carpet very worn which didn't help absorb any of the loud noises made by staff out the back in the car park first thing in the morning, the clanging that was going on at night and the banging of doors and noises made by other guests coming and going. Breakfast was an experience as we had to share a table with someone else as there was no seats (that wasn't a problem) but the food was poor and luke warm. The only thing that was hot was the baked beans and infact were the only thing that tasted ok. Would have rather paid £10 more and stayed at the Britannia up the road where our friends were staying!!!
Review 56:Checking out
Review 57:Internet was disappointing, breakfast was so-so, location was far from city attractions.
Review 58:Room was perfect for the price, staff were friendly, easy access to a lot of restaurants and shops.
Review 59:When I book my room on booking.com on cranbrook hotel but when I go to hotel they told me I haven't got room on this hotel then she give me another hotel business card an told me go there
Review 60:When I arrived at hotel they refer me other hotel
Review 61:Repetitive breakfast - the same menu daily, no single change; Very poor wifi, very poor signal, not able to connect some times: No parking place available one night.
Review 62:Large rooms, accessible location, free parking, heater inside of the room, generous breakfast.
Review 63:The first night i cam late they didnt have my room ready they moved me to another newrby hotel i had to checkout and go to their place in the morning that made me waste 4 hours and miss a planned tour costing me money , booking customer service didnt give any compensation and told me u should have contacted us when it happened! The place smells strange and they have no wifi! Never go for this place
Review 64:Halal food in breakfast
Review 65:Staff are not interested in sorting problems out I even had to buybatteries for the tv remote as it was not working rooms are dirty lampshade missing broken water pipes hanging off the wall parking availableif you can get a space even if u reserved one I would not recommend it
Review 66:Nothing good about it
Review 67:Small cramped room, no room to walk round bed, couldn't see the tv from bed. Dirty linen left outside of another room near us overnight.
Review 68:Breakfast.
Review 69:Advertised as free Wifi but didn't work ALL weekend after we was told it would be fixed!!
Review 70:Loved the room, Breakfast was very good. Only 5 minutes from the train station.
Review 71:We booked a family room for 4 adults but there was only a room for a family of 3. We had to move to a sister hotel, which unfortunately has no parking space available. This was very unconvenient as we had a lot of luggage. We had to go to the new hotel by foot. It was very hot in the room, although the heating was switched off. Windows had to be shut as they were facing the street, so it was very loud.
Review 72:Good price for family room (only £55). Cleanliness of room.
Review 73:For the price, the hotel was quite good with moderately big, airy rooms; quite a good spread at breakfast and not very far away from High Street or Train Station.
Review 74:They put me in some backroom house because the hotel was full which was disappointing. When i complained i was told to go and come back the following day when the room is available.
Review 75:Breakfast was good just the bacon i didn't kije
Review 76:There was no Wi-Fi in the room in spite of being advertised.
Review 77:The staff was excellent very caring and helpful. The breakfast was very good .The bathroom was very clean lots of fluffy towels
Review 78:very very old and uncomfortable bed Hotel furniture was very very old and in very bad shape. If you can avoid this hotel, do so Very near to this hotel is travelodge I have stayed in this hotel many time which is excellent not expence , very good location and nice to stay.
Review 79:Staff was ok good reasonable breakfast ok bathroom location very near to Ilford station and easy to travel to London city
Review 80:The rooms are noisy and the door had a gap all around through which light comes through. The shower needs more flow, it just dripped in our case.
Review 81:The room, sheets and towels are clean. The breakfast was decent but you have to wait in peak times to be seated.
Review 82:bit noisy when staying in rooms by the kitchen
Review 83:we have stayed 3x and each time in a diffrent room there all nice rooms very friendly staff and very comfortable
Review 84:WiFi - there was no WiFi - we ask the personal/manager every morning/afternoon/evening to reset the server/router but without any result - internet doesn't work at all. No hair dryer. At first after we already paid the money for the entire period (7 days) we got a wretched room far from the reception (another building) and very dirty (there was no internet also - I guess there was imposible to have internet signal because of the distance from the main building). After we get angry we got to change the room with one in the main building but the problem with internet still exist.
Review 85:Room allocated had not been checked before our arrival and the curtain rail had fallen down. Even though it looked like it had been redecorated (painted and new carpet). Given a different room which was disgusting. Its smelled unclean, of smoke, damp and the carpet and furniture were very old. The shower over the bath leaked every where. I just wanted to cry. Thankfully we moved the following day to the cleaner room.
Review 86:A bit noisy, with traffic outside, and people coming and going, but I didn't mind too much as I was only there one night and it was cheap.
Review 87:Clean, comfy, lovely shower, friendly staff, good location
Review 88:On arrival I discovered to my annoyance that they were fully booked, even though I had booked earlier in the day! I was informed that theyhad booked me in to their sister hotel, The Parkview, around the cornerfrom them. I advised them that I was not impressed as I had stayed theirbefore and found it was dire and had reviewed it appropriately! Uponarriving at the ParkviewI further discovered that I had been allocated aroom in an annexed house 2 doors along the street! I was not a happybunny and told them so! People like this should not be in business asthey are totally clueless as to the running of a proper hotel or guesthouse. Breakfast at the Park view is a disgrace! It would also appear tobe a dumping ground for society's "supp' beny'S.
Review 89:There was nothing to like except leaving the next morning!
Review 90:I was stuck out in buildings round the back. Internet didn't work there. Felt damp. Also the walk from the station there, ten minutes, felt very dangerous. Not a good area of London at all.
Review 91:Breakfast was good.
Review 92:Wi Fi connection was very bad. Even when I was connected the speed was low. The last day of my stay wifi password was changed without giving any notice.
Review 93:We asked for an 'accessible' room because I was on crutches and were happy that we were put on the ground floor...unfortunately the room had the shower over the bath which was awkward to climb in and out of and not what I consider accessible!! Our bed was a very small 'double' which made sleeping a challenge as you either hit your partner or nearly fell off every time you rolled over! We were fortunate to have an external sliding door that we could open as the room was unbearably stuffy and hot. Breakfast was terrible and much better at the pub around the corner!
Review 94:Wifi was good...when it was working!
Review 95:Room was tiny, but can't complain for £35 (on offer), but I would have been annoyed if I had got this room at original price of £69! This room was in the building next door, room was clean etc. but really small. Noisy guests throughout the night Okay for one night's stay which is why I booked this, but I don't I can manage another night.
Review 96:- Decent breakfast which was surprising - Power strip to plug in my phone/tablet was easily accessible
Review 97:Wifi never worked, the hotel in general was noisy, bed was uncomfortable, the sheet didn't even fit my bed and was so see through I could see the mattress. Pillows were really hard. The room needed some attention - wallpaper peeling, lights not working, latches on the windows broken. Although the bathroom was nice and newly renovated the shower was tiny, the water pressure was poor and the hot water ran out fast.
Review 98:Location was good - parking was average. The room was serviced daily and was cleaned nicely. Breakfast was nice. The bathroom was nicely renovated.
Review 99:the carpet was disgusting - very stained and it didn't look like any vacuuming had been done in years. It was so poor it made me feel uncomfortable sleeping in the bed. the receptionist was abrupt to the point of rudeness and made me feel like I was asking a favour of her. no welcome, grotty floors, expensive hotel for the quality of cleanliness. and size of room.
Review 100:Very rude night receptionist and don't know how to treat customers bad way of talking customers OMG
Review 101:The first receptionist was very good and good manners
Review 102:the main issue I had was the dirty bed blanket and also the damp that was in our room, which is a minor issue. I would also say I got a offer on booking.com but if had paid £200+ like its been advertise on booking.com I would have been very disappointed.
Review 103:the day staff was excellent and more then willing to help, I asked to change my room because was given one without window and they done it without issue. evening staff again was helpful my bed linen sheet was dirty and they gave me a clean sheet when requested
Review 104:Breakfast very nice... Room big but staircase small quite difficult to carry luggage up and down.. Location quite near to ilford station about 15minutes walk.. Overall good.. Recommended
Review 105:Started off disappointed as on the way i realised i had booked the wrong hotel, i had stayed here before and was not impressed the first time. Second time seemed even worse. Lady on reception was abrupt to people checking in as i was checking out. Breakfast although a good selection was not really cooked to a great standard. Room, oh dear, luckily i only ever stay in Ilford area on a sunday where many prices are £29 a night im use to budget basic hotels, this one i actually considered for a long time whether to stay or just drive home. Ants in the bathroom, hair on toilet seat, washbasin had a strange like plastering mark in, and the carpet in one corner was lifted up and i don't know what it was underneath as there was movement and it did not seem safe. I have pictures but not seen option yet where as to share them. As i say i only paid £29 so you have to expect not perfect conditions but other nights of the week these hotel rooms are £200+ absolutely disgraceful.
Review 106:Guy on reception was polite.
Review 107:the bed was rather uncomfortable and the 1 night was enough on it
Review 108:excellent staff, location to train station, quiet room , very good breakfast free parking and wifi
Review 109:Floor carpet was stained n dirty. Mattress needs to be changed as the have all sunken after long use. Washroom she'd have place to hang towels.
Review 110:Breakfast was good. Good shower.
Review 111:receptionist was really rude, i ordered food and she barged into my room and claimed that i must have a visitor because apparently i ordered more food than one person needs, which i thought was an outrageous comment to make , also, wifi was kind of weak
Review 112:room in good condition, bathroom too
Review 113:It was a good location and close to all local amenities such as the shops, bars, restaurants etc. The staff were absolutely brilliant my car broke on arrival and they really helped me out. We visited attending We are Festival that was held in Upminister and had a really bad ordeal on the Saturday, again the staff were brilliant and even knocked on our door the next day to check we were still ok. The breakfast was so good for the price and they had lots of selection. Only downside for me was the beds were slightly uncomfortable and the rooms were cold but you get what you pay for! We all had showers every day and the water was hot, the maids came every day and offered us towels and to take our rubbish. There was 4 of us sharing a room for 3 nights and it was great value for money so close to London, if I was ever in the area I would definitely go back.
Review 114:The transparent loft on top of the bed got me awake early enough because of reflection.
Review 115:The receptionist guy is amazingly friendly. The hotel is well organised.
Review 116:The environment in the annex rooms needs to be a bit improved. Also the room WIFI was not that great either. The door locks can be fitted better.
Review 117:Hospitality, Clean rooms, good food, location and the staff was very helpful. Love to visit them and recommend to other friends. Already have referred 2 people now.
Review 118:Wifi didn't work & the shower had mould in it. Generally clean but covering up one the light fixtures & tidying the wall area above the headboard will make the room more appealing.
Review 119:Quiet area & near to all amenities. Breakfast included in the price of the room was good value. And having free car park was an advantage.
Review 120:The back annox where we stayed the whole house had a mouldy smell to it the shower had electrical tape on it as it was broke the room was cold the bathroom wasent very clean and the wifi didn't work would not stay here again
Review 121:The breakfast was nice
Review 122:Wi-fi doesnt work at all, maybe one hour in three days. Very soft and uncomfortable beds, small room and bathroom especially. Also very loudly, and you need to know that there is side building not just main.
Review 123:Breakfast is very good, but sometimes they don't have enough space, so you must wait for empty chair, also whitout privacy for the table. Personal on breakfast is very kind.
Review 124:The double bed was 2 singles pushed together, which was fine but the sheets weren't big enough to cover it properly. The waste of the shower tray kept blocking. The hotel in general looks tired and is obviously in need of a lot of repair and maintenance
Review 125:The hotel is within walking distance of Ilford Town Centre; the room had a modern ensuite and also a fridge.
Review 126:windows didn't open apart from small bit at top so no way out if there was a fire. Paid for double but was 2 single beds together which was a bit uncomfortable
Review 127:good location quick check in and out
Review 128:Charge extra 50 pounds as deposit and never refund. They dont answer any emails. terrible bed didnt manage to get a good nap although i was extremely tired. terrible breakfast. the staff lied about the deposit refund and misguided us.
Review 129:Nothing at all
Review 130:room was quite dirty and was so cold that me and my boyfriend had to sleep with extra clothing on, we was placed in another block and it wasn't sound proof we could hear people coming up and down the stairs people shooting throughout the night and it kept us up half the night? The tv on the room doesn't work and there was some mild signs of mould
Review 131:There was parking spaces
Review 132:The way the door locked scared me and made me feel uncomfortable to sleep thought someone was gonna come in. And I'm glad I bought my own bedsheets
Review 133:The heating when it came on
Review 134:Wi-fi unreliable, and free wi-fi was the main reason why I booked this hotel. Very disappointing. Loud and quarreling guests/visitors in the hallway in the middle of the night. We felt insecure. When we talked to the friendly man at reception he tried to fix both wi-fi and quarrel. Without that man noone would stay here!
Review 135:The breakfast was great!! Friendly staff at the reception and in the diningroom. Big room. Clean.
Review 136:The free wifi didn't really work in my room and would only work downstairs. This would have been nice if it was working within the room.
Review 137:I would use this hotel again, parking was good and safe, good location for high street food, good location to get to London, very good breakfast which is inc of the price.
Review 138:Unfortunately, the quality of my bed was bad and the blanket very thin and l felt cold most of sleeping time. Maybe they can do something about this point of view.
Review 139:First of all l really liked all stuff !!! They all were very friendly and all the time looking to help for all your personal needs. And also l liked that l had a clean room and bathroom .
