Reviews for The Kings Head
Review 1:Took a while to get access to our room through a partition door. But staff were helpful and quick to help.
Review 2:So close to venue and easy parking. Value for money.
Review 3:very clean , wonderful full English breakfast staff very friendly , and being a resident allows you to drink for a while after hours ,,, but don't let that put you off after normal closing time the hotel is quiet so no problem sleeping , what more can you ask for tv kettle en suite bathroom ,, and all for £40
Review 4:we waited over 15 minutes for the night porter to let us in when returning in the evening. The shower didn't work, we had to rinse our hair under the tap. The morning staff where very rude. It doesn't feel like a hotel, it's a pub with very basic rooms
Review 5:The location is great, just opposite the main train station. Check in was fine
Review 6:A little bit noisy on a Saturday evening, and cold in the room during winter. However if you are tired, and only staying for a comfy sleep, then it shouldn't be a bug problem.
Review 7:It is right outside the Warrington Central train station. Great option if last minute Liverpool accommodation booking hurts your wallet.
Review 8:Room very cold although heater provided was too noisy too have on too sleep. Beds very lumpy and duvet thin and neither of us slept well.
Review 9:Great location for central Warrington
Review 10:Staff, bed, shower, lack of window covering to exclude street light. Single glazed window did nothing to keep street noise out.
Review 11:Opposite the station near to Liverpool
Review 12:On arrival was told was told they had lost my booking. Could only offer me a single room with a tiny and uncomfortable bed. Told well take it or leave it. A lot of noise every night until 3 am.
Review 13:The room was very clean and tidy
Review 14:First look from across road "oh dear" but pleasantly surprised. Location great for train (Liverpool& Manchester) and room quiet even when bar downstairs pumping.
Review 15:First look nearly scared us off. Very lively and noisy when we arrived but great sound proofing. Some blackening round the bottom of the shower, shower dripped (couldn't be fully turned off. A little tight getting round the edge of the bed. Curtains would have been better than blinds, especially as on the main road.
Review 16:Staff very friendly. A lot of effort had been put into making the room nice, just needed more maintenance. Very comfy with a lovely breakfast area.
Review 17:The Shower did not work which is not acceptable , the Breakfast was cooked freshly and was good but if you did not want a " full English" The selection was really poor , it would have been nice to have some fruit or yoghurts not just 3 tubs of cereal .
Review 18:The staff were really friendly and helpful The room and Linen was clean and fresh
Review 19:Nothing really.
Review 20:Staff were very friendly. Room was clean. Bathroom was new. Great big bath in the ensuite. Staff even carried our luggage up the stairs. Welcoming and very friendly people. Great atmosphere. I had a wonderful 4 nights there. Can't forget the breakfasts. They were personally cooked to your liking!! Can't complain about that!! Position was excellent. Straight across the road from the train station and within walking distance to the shopping centre. We were there on a Sunday so we got to go the rugby which was only a few blocks away. Thank you Paula, Laura and the rest of the great staff. I would definitely go back again!
Review 21:The doors to the rooms were sometimes tricky to get into. The handle on our wardrobe was broken and windows were drafty although it didn't matter as it was summer.
Review 22:Comfortable room. Breakfast basic but good. Room decor was nice.
Review 23:Car parking was not 100% secure and not adjacent to property. At night the premises were extremely noisy. The landing light was permanently ON and shone through bedroom door top. The room was NOT serviced on Saturday.
Review 24:It was a reasonable distance from our family whom we visited.
Review 25:Due to the central location it was very loud on a Saturday night. Blinds didn't really stop the light getting in either.
Review 26:Cheap and simple accommodation, was ideal for a one night stop over and was very central.
Review 27:If your looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful, this is the place. All the basics you need, located above a pub (perfect) they also do lovely food and it's a good place to be located to push out to other areas (Liverpool, Manchester)
Review 28:Nothing, it was perfect for my needs
Review 29:Great location right in the centre of town, very friendly staff, the pub is a great place to have a drink, comfy bed in a nice, clean room!
Review 30:A full length mirror in all the room could be handy.
Review 31:The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The rooms are basic but very clean and tidy. Great location and will stay there again.
Review 32:Room no 3 was on the main road and very noisy, also I think the burglar alarm went off in the early morning so I didn't manage to get a good sleep past 4.30am
Review 33:Location Friendly staff Clean Cheap Good breakfast - good quality sausages
Review 34:It is above a pub, so a few 'happy' people out in the street early hours kept one son awake, but we were all pleased for the comfy nights stay.
Review 35:It was a thankful bed for the night in a late placed booking in our road trip. It worked out perfectly.
Review 36:The pub downstairs was quite noisy, our stay being on Saturday night. However, we found it quite funny, as mostly oldie music was played and it stopped at midnight. We arrived late (at approx. 22h) and found it quite hard to catch the barwomens' attention in all the pub ruckus. Bathroom door has no lock.
Review 37:Beautiful old wooden building. Location is excellent, almost directly adjacent to Warrington Central Railway Station (but on other side of street). Room was quite nice. Bathroom rather big. In the room there was a sign posted stating that eating food in the rooms is discouraged, however, guests can bring any (yes, pre-bought as well) food downstairs into an area of the pub and consume it there. Quite a nice and fair arrangement.
Review 38:Nothing not to like
Review 39:We were in Warrington for rugby match. The location was great. Good atmosphere in the bar and surrounds. Clean rooms and comfy beds.
Review 40:Shower didn't work.. wi fi very poor. Didn't get the room we asked for! Got a four single bedded room and had a struggle to put two together! Room very sparse...no pictures..and only mirror in bathroom..etc:
Review 41:Location for our needs.
Review 42:It was very noisy all hours of the night with local traffic as well as bar patrons who were very loud at the bar entrance outside. The shower had very little water pressure and was difficult to get to a comfortable temperature This place is more for pub goers who drink more than they should and can't make it home, not really for a family on holiday.
Review 43:The staff was friendly, and the beds were comfortable.
Review 44:The walls are paper thin and the traffic noise, even on a weekday night, was loud. Bring earplugs.
Review 45:Location was great and the free Wifi and parking were a huge bonus.
Review 46:There was no breakfast just toast which some had hair on it, there was pubic hair in the beds, when cooking was being done it smelt discussing stale fat smell
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:The remote control for the tv was missing and the staff told me they have no way of finding it. The hotel has a bar at the ground floor but security doors with pin activation leading to the rooms. The noise was not too bad until the people started going home in the middle of the night
Review 49:Good size room, cot provided for my son
Review 50:We were told it was 10mins to Haydock race course but it was 45mins & £22 by taxi !! None of the ceiling lights worked but someone did sort it. The shower primitive! The twee kettle had a loose wire connection & would only work when held in midair. All windows are painted up so no way of getting fresh air into the room & the wand to operate the vertical blind was unreachable so we had to drag the bedside table to the window to stand on it!
Review 51:Perfect location for the railway station & town centre. Perfect for a reasonably priced room to rest your head. Parking was free over the road with the use of a pass.
Review 52:It's a pub with karaoke goin on downstairs and all the customary pub noises...so don't go if you want an early night
Review 53:The location is good..car park excellent..staff friendly..room clean
Review 54:Room in need of some character and felt like there were a lot of "rules" . Did not feel it was welcoming.
Review 55:The bathroom was lovely. The property is being decorated too. The young girl was very helpful.
Review 56:This is a pub hotel and on the Saturday night we stayed it was very noisy all night until the early hours such that we hardly slept
Review 57:Clean room and comfortable beds. Tea and biscuits in room, Handy for the station
Review 58:Rooms were very basic but clean. No food facilites at the hotel but you are allowed to bring food into your room. The pub down stairs was quite noisey but only til 11pm.
Review 59:Best thing about this hotel was the price. Stayed there for 2 nights for £80. Great central location only a minute walk to the bus station and central train station.
Review 60:Our room was right over the pub and since it was Saturday night it was a bit loud. And after the noise from the pub stopped there was noise from the street outside. While centrally located, the hotel/pub is in a grotty area that did not feel safe with many drunk and homeless people around at all times of the day and night.
Review 61:Clean ensuite room, modern new IKEA-style furniture, decent quality tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room; centrality of the location (by the Central train station); ease of getting taxis (parked right across the street outside the station); smooth check in and check out.
Review 62:only offering continental breakfast in the morning when they had a leaflet with full English breakfast on it .so had to go elsewhere for breakfast plus I was told that residents could have drinks after locals where out of the pub then when I went to the bar I was told no!!
Review 63:beds where comfortable ...
Review 64:I suspect the " good " reviews are false ! Room was cold and dirty , frequent requests for a heater were not met . Receptionist was more interested in fruit machine in bar ! No key to room ! Breakfast was a joke , cereal and juice , plus tea after repeated requests . Scruffy receptionist that didn't give a damn DO NOT STAY HERE !!!!
Review 65:the worrest most uncomfortable matters on my single bed that I have ever tried to sleep on, if the people running the pub were not so nice I would have asked for my money back
Review 66:the staff ,friendly patrons great location to the rugby league stadium
Review 67:There were a few big problems: the wifi did not reach my room, so I had to sit in the pub to do it. There is just one key for every room, so I could not take the key to my room but had to return it to the desk. knowing that there was just one master key for every room did not give me a good sense of security as a female traveling alone. Also, I did not like having to deal with accommodation details in a pub filled with men drinking. I do not go to pubs so am not comfortable with this atmosphere. The room itself was very clean except for a weird stain on the wall.
Review 68:the man who helped me was extremely kind and tried to address my concerns and make me comfortable.
Review 69:The room was next to the road which was very noisy. The bed side lamp bulb was broken and when I went to the bar to ask for a new one at t he bar I was told they'd bring on up but they didn't. There was a spare single bed base in the room. There rom was very bare - no pictures or furnishings to make it homely. There was no information about breakfast when I checked in. Also, as a single woman walking in and out the bar it didn't feel especially safe. I didn't feel as I could eat downstairs alone.
Review 70:Given two single beds when a double was booked, one of the beds you could feel every spring in the mattress, both different size beds. Freezing cold bedroom with broken heater and leaking window. Loud noise from street and traffic. Shower took 20 minutes to get warm, no spoons left for making refreshments. When a complaint was made the manager was exceptionally rude, dismissed us without offering any sort of apology or compensation and simply banned us from the premises for daring to complain. Absolutely dispicable customer service, would NOT recommend!
Review 71:Leaving.
Review 72:The place is so easy to find and convenient. We stayed for 3 nights for a shopping trip from Malta, and will definately stay at the Kings Head next time! The price of the stay was very reasonable and the rooms and pub were very comfortable and well furnished. The staff were also very welcoming and nice to talk to. Our checkout was at 10am as planned and our taxi was booking for 3pm to the airport and we had about 14 suit cases which the owners offered to keep stored for our own comfort free of charge which was very nice of them also. Highly recommended for any type of occasion :)
Review 73:very friendly stuff, very nice and comfortable rooms, central and train station just across the road, kept our luggages safely even after check out :)
Review 74:Room could have done with being a bit warmer although we didn't spend much time in it.
Review 75:Everyone was very friendly and was treated as a regular in the bar by staff and the public. Excellently situated for the town. Rooms were clean and beds very comfy.
Review 76:We booked online It was confirmed by e.mail we traveled for 4 hrs to find the hotel was closed. The barmaid said to go elsewhere. We found accomodation at 7.30pm. Utterly disgusted with the service.we were lucky to find somewhere but it took us way over our budget
Review 77:Great location, Friendly staff, dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the room ( used ear bud on floor)(very dusty) overall I give 6 out of 10. Good stay
Review 78:"Continental Breakfast" = Cereal & Toast!! - No Croissants, Pastries or anything else. Windows are single glazed and don't even close properly. No towel rail in Bathroom. TV not tuned in and no remote. Dubious stains in carpet
Review 79:Handy for town, train & bus stations
Review 80:just to say we both felt uncomfortable staying there. The clientele were loud and raucous, food was a joke and even though both rooms looked clean and tidy, the toilet obviously hadn't been cleaned since the last person looking at thestate. i stayed in all sorts of accommodation but this one took the cake. Forfeited our money and ran !
Review 81:The staff were very helpful and pleasant
Review 82:poor lighting in room No shampoo Poor selection of continental breakfast - no fruit, yogurt or brown bread Noisy
Review 83:friendly kitchen staff Bed very comfortable
Review 84:Had to pay extra for breakfast because according to them the breakfast icluded in the booking was just for toast and cereals. Asked to pay for proper breakfast. In addition to the expensive rate for a single room.
Review 85:The staffs were nice.
Review 86:Used the family room which really needs curtains, as the pub sign light outside kept the room light overnight. Also breakfast was just cereal and toast. However seems to be refurbing so please take these as suggestions for finishing refurb.
Review 87:Price was great including breakfast, very friendly staff and easy access to Warrington centre and surrounding area
Review 88:Cold room in a poor state of decoration. Corridor was noisy all night. No door into toilet. Sockets coming off walls. No curtains - just vertical slat blinds. No remote for TV. Horrible carpet. Needs complete redecoration. Uncomfortable bed. Really, really poor. One of the worst places I have ever stayed.
Review 89:Dirty carpets Mould in kettle and on walls Attitude of staff Bright hallway light shining in through window above door. Noisey Picture ofbuilding is misleading (everything around this hotel is derelict)
Review 90:Some of the rooms could do with a bit of TLC.
Review 91:The staff looked after us well. Thank you paula. Once the kitchen is up and running it will be an excellent place, with a choice menu. As long as they can keep The Shed a great venue.
Review 92:Didnt stop as location bad and parking available was across main road from pub .not tarmaced , rough waste land .decided not to stop as not happy with location or safe to leave car overnight why we across road .not happy.
Review 93:Bedroom well lit by street lights. On main road so noise from traffic and late night passers by. Ordered a double room but got a room with 4 single beds.
Review 94:Clean, and central location. Very good Italian Restaurant nearby.
Review 95:unlocking doors very difficult. Basically its a Pub with bed & Breakfast but no place to bring children. No table and chair available in the rooms. No garden or drawing room. The TV was not working very well, kept loosing picture and sound!!
Review 96:Staff were very helpful bedding and toilet and bathroom very good. Good Parking!
Review 97:The staff made you feel welcome and accommodate your every need the beds were comfortable and its very close to the town centre we will stop here again
Review 98:No mirror in room Shower only a dribble Breakfast just a loaf of bread you help yourself to slices to toast yourself, no tea or coffee offered Room smells musty Bedroom blind broken
Review 99:Pub had character Drinks very reasonable priced
Review 100:No cooked breakfast as they were doing up the kitchen .
Review 101:Warm welcome we had ,no hassle ,we were in the front bedroom and to think that creamfields was on ,and was warned that they might be people coming from there early in the morning ,we slept so well we heard nobody
Review 102:Small breakfast selection
Review 103:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the lady at the bar called us a cheap taxi to save money on the way to creamfields rather than getting ripped off by taxis at the train station, little touches like that really make a difference.
Review 104:Hot water took 2 or 3 minutes to get to the shower but once it arrived it was a good shower. No good if you're in a rush.
Review 105:Bed very comfortable. Single room surprisingly big. Very clean.
Review 106:Poor quality of facility, high price. Facility hasn't anyrenovations for at least 20 years. Was mislead by positive reviews, mostprobably all of them fake.
Review 107:Staff tried there best to make us comfortable
Review 108:Ripped off by the owner with a pathetic excuse ("can't refundbecause you paid by credit card", seriously?) The reviews are fake,so beware! They do not serve food as reviews say. They do no acceptamerican express, even if it is clearly indicated on the door. Thisplace is a dump and a fraud, avoid it!
Review 109:Breakfast was awful. 3 cereals, white bread, tea and coffee was all that was offered with vile tasting milk. This ruined my stay to be honest :(
Review 110:Lovely accommodation, lovely staff, lovely rooms, clean and comfy.
Review 111:didnt have any problems and would go again.
Review 112:plenty of room in bedroom. sheets and towels clean. bathroom clean. large tv in room. breakfast simple but ok. all food contained in proper containers. milk and juice in covered jugs. handy for rugby ground, shops and bus and train station.
Review 113:Room basic, no door on the en-suite Lots of Noise from the bar and function room Breakfast very poor A bit of a rowdy Town centre pub with rooms, not a proper hotel
Review 114:Friendly staff
Review 115:Noise from street - take earplugs Transparent curtain No bedside light No desk Smell of smoke
Review 116:Clean comfortable bed Good location in terms of closeness to station and town centre
Review 117:First of all, the room was very dirty, there were rotten slices of apple under the bed. The window in the room didn't stay up so I had to support it with a plastic bottle. The window in the bathroom was stuck and it didn't open at all. The continental breakfast was cereals, toast, jam, and butter. No meat or cheese or anything like that. Coffee was also terrible. We didn't get keys for the front door, they just told us to knock on the window if we come back late. Parking was also not free. I would certainly not recommend this place.
Review 118:I could tell form the picture on Booking.com that the Kings Head was a pub, but I did not realise that it was so basic in terms of accommodation. Continental breakfast was a couple of cereals in Tupperware containers and a 2 slice toaster too small to fit the bread slices in. It was OK for me as a single gravelled, just wish the description had been clearer about its 'level'.
Review 119:Nothing, good value stay
Review 120:Clean comfortable rooms, excellent location, and lovely cooked breakfast.
Review 121:good location
Review 122:Kings Head is conveniently located opposite the train station
Review 123:Friendly people, excellent location, nicenice and tidy rooms
Review 124:The area of the pub was not great. The facilities were basic but good enough.
Review 125:The staff were fantastic and the pub had a great atmosphere.
Review 126:Very noisy
Review 127:Town centre noise
Review 128:Clean and accessible
Review 129:We were in Warrington to visit sick relative in Hospital. Difficulty finding somewhere to eat, consequently we managed to get ourselves lost
