Reviews for Bodysgallen Hall and Spa
Review 1:The whole place is very pricey and I think worth it on the whole - BUT - BE AWARE - if you book through Booking.com it is room only and breakfast is £19 - as the cost of the room is high I think this was not really a classy thing - and I was not reminded of the fact at check in or at breakfast - so I felt it left a bad taste after what was a very very good stay. The manager and I worked something out.
Review 2:This was a wonderful property, with great character and lovely spa, and grounds. The food was excellent and the staff were superb. We were in a cottage away from the main house but near to the spa - it was very well appointed and we liked the ability to get away from everyone else in the main building - it was near to the spa - but a 'steepish' walk back the the main building
Review 3:The spa could have been open longer
Review 4:The personal attention of the staff. The quality of the food. The location with its easy access to the Conwy Valley and to Snowdonia.
Review 5:Restaurant expensive for breakfast and dinner.Service at breakfast slow and on one day inattentive.
Review 6:Nice room, great location, beautiful gardens.Very helpful Manager.
Review 7:WiFi is horrendous. Guest expectation is a strong signal throughout the Estate. Its an inexpensive investment for guest convenience.
Review 8:Fabulous grounds. Fabulous Manor. Very attentive conceige.
Review 9:Very minor but Wifi was hit a miss - however we were staying in a cottage away from the main hotel reception.
Review 10:This is a very well kept country hotel in a very convenient setting for exploring North Wales. It have high standards of: Comfort Friendly, helpful staff Facilities: Spa, second to none Gardens and country views
Review 11:Nothing...
Review 12:The whole place is like a dream come true. A stunning location, with amazing views, and grounds. The house itself is a beautiful property with lovely little outbuildings/cottages for you to stay in. The spa was stunning, very clean. The staff were superb. Very helpful, kind and made the experience very enjoyable. Can't wait to go back!
Review 13:From the warm welcome, outstanding evening meal, beautiful surroundings to the lovely staff and great pool in the Spa, made this a memorable stay - thank you!
Review 14:Nothing it was all good.
Review 15:We booked this holiday to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary - the whole stay was perfect. The staff were friendly, the property was stunning, especially the garden and all the standards were very high. We couldn't have chosen a better place.
Review 16:The food in the main dining room was a little fussy for me
Review 17:The gardens are fabulous - lovely to walk in. We stayed in one of the cottages - very private and nicely decorated Treatments in the spa were very enjoyable (but book early) The pool was clean, large and quiet Breakfast was lovely (but needed more staff to take orders to avoid the delay)
Review 18:Accommodation a little shabby, expectations were higher.
Review 19:We came for the location and spa. Place has history and character, stayed in cottage off from main building. Accommodation ok, typical uk country standard so not magnificent although price was. Spa ok but not as good as those experienced on continental Europe, ie. France, Italy, Germany although just as expensive. However, would go back if wanting this in UK.
Review 20:No Iron in room - have to use ironing service Advertised as kitchenette - in truth tea making facility plus fridge. Hotel rooms dont even have kettle it seems No bath - shower only Bistro has no atmosphere and closes very early (8:30) Long distance & steep steps from car park to cottage Tripped down the steps from bathroom area to bed area first day as steps dont meet modern regs! So long as you are aware of this you'll have a lovely stay but its definitely a trip back in time if you are used to modern hotels
Review 21:Location & grounds are truly stunning worth visiting for that alone Spa Main restaurant Character of room (s)
Review 22:The TV stands were not in keeping.
Review 23:The whole ambiance was exceptional

Review 46:The staff polite and friendly
Review 47:Dining menu can be improved upon vegetarian options but you can always visit nearby restaurants as well.
Review 48:Location Peaceful atmosphere
Review 49:Bistro meal was a bit disappointing
Review 50:Comfort, service, friendly helpful staff, lovely grounds, great if you want to get away from it all
Review 51:Poor WiFi and mobile reception but use is discouraged anyway.
Review 52:Gardens were lovely, authentic country house atmosphere. Very cosy and welcoming.
Review 53:We loved the location, accommodation and service we received
Review 54:The stairs. But not enough to stop us going again !
Review 55:The views from our room , the comfort, the friendly staff and the food
Review 56:The main restaurant was not the same value proposition as the brasserie. We would thoroughly recommend the latter.
Review 57:The gardens, the spa and the brasserie.
Review 58:New Cottage was above the staff room and was very noisy with the door banging until quite late at night. Delivery vans also caused a lot of noise in the mornings.
Review 59:This was our second stay this year and we love the location, a retreat away from the hustle-bustle of life. The gardens are beautiful and quiet, especially in the evening. We stayed in a cottage which gives you greater privacy and has a small kitchen for making tea and coffee. The food at the Bistro was excellent.
Review 60:The service in the restaurant could have been a bit better
Review 61:The gardens are amazing The atmosphere was great The spa was brilliant The views are to die for
Review 62:My second visit and I hope I'll have many more.I loved the cottage, the gardens, the setting and views of the sheep and lambs. The staff were fantastic - attentive but not intrusive. Ate in the bistro with my son and the food was very good.
Review 63:I had informed the hotel in writing of my recent stroke and the need for good access to the hotels facilities and that the room we stayed in would need to be easily usable by me. However the lounge furniture was impossibly low when seated to get out of resulting in me having to slide onto the floor then stand up very degrading in company. No suitable hand rails for the stairs to our bedroom which was vital. No internal photos supplied by the hotel even though I requested these on thre occasions so I could see for myself what access was like. The shower access was very unsuitable for anyone with mobilty issues however small. The gates were locked stopping us driving to our cottage and reception blamed this on security. Not even willing to help us by opening this for us on our return so we had to walk in the dark under very difficult conditions slipping and almost falling on several occasions. Hand rails in the swimming pool virtually non existent making even simple walking very hazardous. I asked if the pool was attended and was informed it was. It wasn't on both occasions we used it. This was my first holiday since having my stroke and I had done my best to ask all the right questions as to my access and safety in the hotel and our rooms and can say that the areas and rooms we visited are not suitable for anyone with even the smallest of mobilty problems. The lounge suite would defeat fitter people and the elderly totally unsuitable. I have made massive progress since my stroke and have accessed many public and private buildings in recent months I am fit and asess my needs and potential hazards in my environment carefully and with much thought and planning as I do not want any accidents. I'm sorry to say but my stay was very distressing and certainly not relaxing I would not stay here ever again and I am amazed that the national trust allow these issues I have raised to go unaddressed.
Review 64:Spa was good for swimming good sauna and steam room. Good teas and good breakfast
Review 65:The spa needs an update and has limited facilities. Breakfast fruit and fruit juice had started to ferment.
Review 66:The room, the views, the public areas, the gardens, the staff were very welcoming and efficient
Review 67:Leaving
Review 68:The equiet and wonderful garden. The drinks in the upstair lounge and the comfortable bed while listening to the bird song in the morning. We will be back.
Review 69:The settee and chair in the cottage were rather uncomfortable and would benefit with a replacement unit.
Review 70:Ideal location and very friendly and helpful staff. Food well cooked and well presented. Lovely setting amidst very pleasant gardens and grounds
Review 71:Had breakfast and dinner both days and thought these would come as a package but they did not which bumped up the bill by approx 90%. Bistro food where had lunch was less good than restaurant.
Review 72:Wonderful location. Gardens lovely. House spectacular. Food in restaurant excellent.
Review 73:£19.00 breakfast of 1 sausage 1 egg etc on menus at £7.00 £600 bill for 2 nights bb&evening meal for 2 people does not feel like a bargain
Review 74:Quality evening meal
Review 75:EVERYTHING - STAY THERE AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR AND LOOK FORWARD TO IT EVERY TIME - HAD A ROOM UPGRADE THIS TIME WHICH WAS MUCH APPRECIATED
Review 76:No tea making facilities in the room and cups of tea from room serviceat £5 per cup seemed rather expensive
Review 77:Fabulous building, tastefully refurbished. Decor was great and stafffriendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable and linen suberb.
Review 78:The cottage was advertised with a kitchenette - it was really just a fridge, sink and kettle. No plates or cutlery.
Review 79:The location - beautiful surroundings and very close to Llandudno. The high standards of cleanliness. The friendliness of the staff.
Review 80:There is absolutely no negative side to this place.
Review 81:The nicest place I have stayed in the World. My wife and I were traveling through the countryside as part of a visit to the UK. We stayed at Bodysgallen for 2 nights. The food was wonderful (and I am a gluten free diner). We stayed in one of the cottages, which was romantic and quiet. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We also went to the spa for a massage which is right up to par with some of the best.
Review 82:On arrival, we were offered (and accepted) an upgrade to the lovely room 5 which has views over the National Trust garden to the mountains beyond. Everything we chose on the dinner menu was cooked to perfection and the smaller portions allowed us to enjoy three courses. All members of staff were courteous and helpful and our time at the Spa was a delight. Highly recommend it!
Review 83:Bit fed up that dining room was closed as heating in main house was being refurbished-but we knew that when booking!
Review 84:location, staff ,building great spa facilities, food in 1620 was good.
Review 85:I thought the food was over priced, breakfast basic but at £11.50 for continental and £19.00 for welsh breakfast was way to highfor what you got. Dinner again was expencive but was well presented. I my opinion trades on its name not on food standards.
Review 86:The cottages where perfect, more small flats and everything was in good repair. Beds and Decor where just right for surroundings. Staff very helpfull and polite.
Review 87:It rained a couple of times!
Review 88:Excellent staff, very friendly and professional. The food was superb. The cottage was high quality, and the Spa facilities excellent.
Review 89:Afternoon tea and breakfast, although very good, were very expensive.
Review 90:This was our 3rd trip this year to this fabulous historic hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed in Box Cottage in a quiet and secluded spot near the spa. Excellent tea and coffee facilities, and beautifully furnished. The gardens are quiet and tranquil. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 91:Restaurant grossly overpriced. Bistro much better value. No lift, despite having four floors, and visitors on the older side - very poor that! Small car park, no requirement to show blue badge disabled parking badges, hence the so called disabled parking was always full.
Review 92:Excellent helpful staff. Good facilities. Easy to find. Newspapers to rooms very early. Shoe cleaning - very traditional. WI-FI in rooms.
Review 93:beautiful cottage attention and care from staff excellent spa treatment very professional and relaxing nothing to much trouble no children in the spa area
Review 94:The walk up and down stairs to my cottage and would have preferred to have been nearer the spa. It was a bit noisy at times,
Review 95:pleasant atmosphere, views, countryside surroundings, close to A55 for travel and other interests.
Review 96:Beautiful cottage, good tea and coffee making facilities, comfy bed, in secluded spot in the garden. Lovely walks in garden and surrounding woodland. Heaven on earth !
Review 97:Being able to bring our dog and have him in a detached cottage makes the stay perfect for us and stress free. The access to the woodland etc is great for the dog, whilst the gardens are lovely for the humans!
Review 98:Tray charges for a sandwich in your room seemed a bit harsh as this is not a cheap hotel.
Review 99:The beautiful setting and gardens, peaceful and relaxing. Lovely facial in the spa. Fantastic meal in 1620 Bistro. Stayed in New Cottage which was lovely.
Review 100:Too expensive for a cute cottage with bad central heating. The bathroom was an arctic zone
Review 101:The gardens were amazing and warmer than the cottage we stayed in
Review 102:The only thing that bugged me was the door that the staff used which was below our cottage banged every time they when through, this was from just after 7am till early evening.otherwise ok.
Review 103:Very comfortable and if we were in the area again we would stay there.
Review 104:Excellent staff, food, accommodation and spa facilities. The Garden Cottage where we stayed was beautiful. The gardens and surroundings were beautiful and peaceful.
Review 105:The spa experience was brilliant at one point we had the pool, sauna and steamroom all to ourselves
Review 106:It was an original experience to stay in a historic hall with history and to have exceptional facilities on the doorstep
Review 107:The cottage main room was somewhat draughty, the biscuit barrel had tworather forgotten biscuits (better none than that), in the same sense akitchen without even a glass! And more; to give the sense certainly notof luxury even perhaps not sure of what the ambition is.
Review 108:Atmosphere
Review 109:As every the location is in magical setting the staff are attentive without being intrusive and the cottages situated in the grounds are just perfect
Review 110:The deep gullies in the driveway up to the hall
Review 111:The setting is magnificent, the gardens are gorgeous and the ambience delightful. Very peaceful, luxurious surroundings but close by seaside resort, theatre and stunning scenery of Snowdonia
Review 112:The pool access times for children could be a little more generous(though the staff showed some much appreciated flexibility...)
Review 113:Magnificent setting of the castle in the meticulously maintainedgardens, elegant furniture and decoration throughout the hotel, generously heated and welcoming swimming pool, arguably one of thenicest dining rooms we have seen: taking in the sun-set and overlookingthe gardens as well as Conwy castle, well-trained and very friendlyhotel staff, and - while the hotel may not be focused on families per se- we found ourselves very, very welcome as a family (12y and 7y).
Review 114:We stayed at one of the cottages and had no wi-fi coverage, despite the hotel insisting that we should do. That was rather annoying. We were also not greatly impressed by the serving staff at breakfast: no-one offered tea or coffee until we chased them and asked, they had a mix-up with our order (it's only about 3 options!), and food took ages to arrive. Not impressive.
Review 115:The grounds are beautiful, the main house - quite stunning, an the swimming pool large and very well maintained. Have not tried the main restaurant for dinner, but their Bistro 1620 was fanrastic - some the best food, service and atmosphere we had in a while, and I am not just talking about Wales.
Review 116:Finding it. Navigator put us in the wrong spot and the address was another road from the one it is actually off of.
Review 117:The gardens, the building, the room.
Review 118:The place is isolated so that if one is without a vehicle, it is necessary to use a taxi to get anywhere. It is expensive, especially the breakfasts.
Review 119:This was a beautiful location, well maintained and with incredible service- oriented staff. The room spaces were generous and the common areas well appointed and spacious. The grounds are delightful. Staff were accommodating to our wishes.
Review 120:At dinner in the bistro, staff seemed somewhat junior for such a quality hotel and were nor well informed regarding the menu. Olive oil served with appetiser was not of a grade usually served with bread and was tasteless and not first press or even extra virgin, despite mentioning it twice and being brought more of the same, we were advised that the chef said it was the same as served in the main house/restaurant. Had this been removed from our bill, the loss of very tiny revenue for the hotel would have reaped huge reward and not soured what was otherwise a delicious meal and wonderful stay at the Hall.
Review 121:Stunning country manor that was beautifully restored. Staff were gracious and attentive but could have benn more knowledgable about the building given it is the highlight of a stay here. Breakfast was excellent and personnel went out of their way to reset the table we wanted
Review 122:The location is superb The staff are attentive and excellent and the rooms and facitities are first rate Our third stay at Bodysgallen Hall and each time the holiday eceeds all expectations
Review 123:Main restaurant is very stuffy with limited choice of food. All four of our party felt that they would not want to eat there for a secong night as the choice was so poor. Breakfast was mediocre and way too overpriced. Second night dined at 1620 Restaurant which is much more relaxed in atmosphere and more choice. Better value for money too!
Review 124:Full of character, beautiful cottage suites. Picturesque surroundings with plenty of activities available. Sumptuous gardens & lots of luxury. Spa is lovely with excellent staff. We has a hot stone massage & facial which were both wonderful. Thoroughly recommend!
Review 125:Incredible Gardens, Better than many if not all we saw on our trip. Gorgeous property. The cottage was like being in your own English home.
Review 126:It's a bit too expensive I would love to go more often could do with more special offers!
Review 127:The location the pool and the food
Review 128:All the facilities and location.
