Reviews for Banks Hotel

Review 1:Broken shower rails bad attitude of staff one of the staff actuallywanted to fight !no hot water! Had to change rooms 3 times in one day!!Loud staff party at 3 am! The receptionist was not that she had to be aplumber electrician and much more !! And the heating was off though itwas cold !

Review 2:Only one staff

Review 3:What didn't I like about the hotel? Well let's get started. The bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable also the pillows was very hard!!! Also every time I tried to sleep I can hear a baby from couple doors down crying for 7 hours straight and kids screaming in the hall way. Don't get me wrong I do like kids but when I'm trying to sleep it's annoying. So yeah I don't think il ever come back to this hotel again!!!

Review 4:i like the fact that the staff was very friendly and made me feel comfortable

Review 5:Needed updating walls bit grubby breakfast time needs to b till later in morning we stayed till Sunday morning so missed breakfast that finished at 9am ... But everything else ok

Review 6:Looks nice from outside brilliant location a bit dated inside but did the job... Not bad value for the money

Review 7:The noise inside&out, broken shower, dodgy hot water,no heating, felt ill after staying there.Doors slamming constantly, place made us itch and mice noises from the room at night.

Review 8:The tv and wifi worked.

Review 9:There was rat traps and droppings in our room! Still waiting for answers from the Manager! The rat/mouse was living in the bottom half of the bed!

Review 10:It was one of the worst experience ever. Toilets were dirty, smelly, our Room was cold and stinky. Lack of information. It was like a prison. As a result we left early. Because we couldn't stand it. I will never recommend someone. SHOCKING

Review 11:I did not like anything at all. It was bad in every single aspect.

Review 12:Several things made this hotel less than satisfactory: - We were made to pay a $10 deposit for our room key and remote that we were not informed of beforehand. - The room looked nothing like the pictures one. Had huge scratches on the wall, the TV was tiny and hanging on the wall precariously, and the closet had one hanger. - We asked for more pillows (being given only 2 for 2 people) but were told we couldn't have any more.

Review 13:At least it was pretty cheap.

Review 14:The room was tiny and had barely enough room for the two of us. A kettlewas provided but there was only one plug low to the floor at the end ofthe bed available to use. No storage space and the carpet was coming uparound the edges of the room and was ripped. Also finding mouse poisonin the room was not pleasant - very clever photography on the websiteand definitely disappointed on arrival and throughout the stay.Breakfast only being served till 9am was also unacceptable consideringthis was supposed to be a leisurely stay.

Review 15:The woman at the front desk was very polite and helpful - however on oneoccasion I left the room late at night to go to the car and a young malereceptionist seemed more interested in the young female he was wooingthan my needs.

Review 16:The Rooms where clean but had holes in the floor, lacked wall panels, looked unmaintained, and some things where broken and making an awful noise for example the ventilation.

Review 17:Distance to station

Review 18:Do not stay here!! We walked into our room and it stank of sewage, due to my friends and my health I asked to be moved and they refused and gave me air fresher, when I asked for money off our room they refused and was rude.the air fresher did not help. The room we was given was covered in mould, the bathroom was horrible, the toilet keep cloaking, and the walls where also covered in mould, and the cups and kettle where fulled in scale and mould, at night we heard mouses, and the beds where uncomfortable. We refuses to eat the breakfast there and when we spoke to other guests they also stated that their rooms where horrible. Never will we stay here again.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Bathroom and television was not working properly and had to change room, breakfast didn't change in 5 days(Fried) eggs were always overcooked,(asked for under-cooked eggs but to no avail, even offered to cook them myself),no help in moving luggage upstairs (no lift),car parking was difficult if you got back late to the hotel in the evening.

Review 21:Rooms are too small to have much furniture. We struggled to move around the room when we were both in it. Be aware it is not soundproof and can be very noisy.

Review 22:Good location close to all local facilities. Good breakfast.

Review 23:During my weekend stay a lot of drunks staying & not recommended for business travellers as quality sleep was minimal !! Breakfast of poor quality also

Review 24:Comfortable bed &!powerful shower

Review 25:We were put in a family room adjoining a function room, loud music went on until early hours then people were coming into their rooms talking loudly and banging doors! The private secure car park was full of people and vans. The room had several bulbs that did not work, it was completely in need of refurbishment.

Review 26:Good breakfast

Review 27:The room was very basic, (no bedside lights and an incorrectly working doorlock). And people outside the room windows all night smoking and talking.

Review 28:Price, the staff were very friendly and helpfull

Review 29:Worst hotel ever did not sleep at all noise was horrendous from outside music all night we were on the ground floor cars pulling up directly outside doors slamming went to reception three times at 3.45am they asked if I wanted to move rooms we had to be up at 6.30 so did not move as my son who was competing in a gymnastics comp had just fell asleep dirty awful hotel not for families it is more like a hostel

Review 30:nothing

Review 31:But the room stunk of smoke the curtails didn't close properly the bed sheets smelt awful! Did really want to bring my 3month old baby In to the room! And the location is scary didn't feel safe for the baby!

Review 32:The staff were great very helpful!

Review 33:Unpleasant, untrained staff (especially the kitchen staff - extremely unfriendly)!! We had a shared bathroom which had no ventilation/ window even that the bathroom was used by the clients and staff equally, women and men as well. This is the worse situation I have ever experienced. The floor made by wood, very noisy, you could easily hear when people were walking. Very poor breakfast, some time you were not able to find anything to eat in the trays. We needed to wait couple of times to be brought from the kitchen.

Review 34:Accessible location, free parking space, relatively clean.

Review 35:At the reception we had a long wait and was not even acknowledged by the receptionist. Once we was finally acknowledged the receptionist told us to wait in the hall which was dark and cold whilst the room was being prepared. The beds were not comfy at all.

Review 36:Petrol or diesel fumes smell in the bathroom. Asked for full weeks money upfront without even showing me the room first. Changed booking to 2 days after seeing it.

Review 37:Location very good for Ilford, the park is just round the corner. Breakfast was also very nice.

Review 38:The wallpaper was peeling of in some spots. Slight water leakage from the base of the shower tray.

Review 39:For the price excellent value for money. All the shops and eating places within walking distance. Free parking and breakfast.

Review 40:Breakfast should be till 10.30h, would be great!! And the water on shower stops going down!

Review 41:The staff was amazing, the breakfast was delicious, the room was good and the facilities as well!

Review 42:I wanted a shower after driving for 14 hours turned shower on cold water.went down to reception to explain about cold water receptionist came up but couldn't do anything when I asked for a discount they weren't interested. Even though I hadn't had a shower since leaving my home over 24 hours earlier.

Review 43:After 14 hours of driving just wanted to go to bed and sleep

Review 44:We couldn't sleep at night because of the mouses disturbance, running around the bedroom, it was an horrible experience. who can share an accommodation with a mouse? i would for sure never recommend this hotel to anyone and never gonna come back.

Review 45:I like the comfort of the bed, and the easy access to wifi

Review 46:Hardly any parking. Rooms were very cold. Aircon only to get it even colder!!. We were placed right near the staff entrance which was extremely noisy all night untill 2am!!.

Review 47:Nice clean hotel. Keycard entry very convenient. Food facilities. All mod cons. Good tv.

Review 48:It was so ran down dingy looking and horrible feeling . Sockets coming off the walls the telly would not work . I did not go for the breakfast as the dirt of the place turned us off . Would never ever return

Review 49:The hotel is located in a noisy area. You can easily ear the neighbours next door and the rooms are not very nice. The breakfast is not very nice. I think it is too expensive for what it is.

Review 50:The hotel is closed from the Ilford train station and you can be in London Liverpool Street in only 20 minutes. The shared bathroom was clean. There is a free parking.

Review 51:Staff were rude, they made me look for my I.D even tho I paid by card, and when I said I did not have it they said it's fine- there were mice, room was tiny esp for a double. Sounded like they were making up the prices for late checkout

Review 52:No visitors allowed in the room. The has only 1 electrical socket for appliances. There was rats running around. I terminate my stay early.

Review 53:Good location.

Review 54:I do not like it reception staff they r very rude. Always chatting on mobile phone specially night staff

Review 55:I do not like it reception staff they r very rude. Always chatting on mobile phone specially night staff.

Review 56:-worn old carpet, no desk or fridge -room with a big open window to breakfast room! Noise early in morning -only shared bathrooms were available -only 2 cloth hangers -called on afternoon that booking was not paid and no credit card details available, which is odd as I have to provide that in the booking, and if I wouldn't pay on the Phone the booking would be cancelled!

Review 57:-close to lots of good hygiëne affordable restaurants and to train

Review 58:Curtains not very well fitted, hard to move them. Slightly wider breakfast variety would be good, but if wasn't bad at all.

Review 59:Great value for money, good location, near main road and subway not far. Good breakfast. Acceptable, clean room. Receptionist was great. Free car parking.

Review 60:Too few electrical sockets; awkwardly placed.

Review 61:Very good and frequent transport links to centre of London and O2 Arena. Safe, residential area; good local facilities. Very helpful staff 24/7. Very good breakfast.

Review 62:The room was very small and cramped. So much that the door would not open without sliding yourself to the corner.

Review 63:The staff were friendly and well behaved. The breakfast was good.

Review 64:The hotel was dirty, the room was small, and dirty. The breakfast wasn't worth eating either. The room was tiny, and we could here all the noise from staff, and other guests

Review 65:The staff here were very friendly, and helpful.

Review 66:Being woken up at 2am by slamming doors that carried on until 4am, then discovering the room getting hotter, when my foot touched the radiator it was scalded. By morning we were both quite tired.

Review 67:The location is excellent for Ilford town.

Review 68:Different room which was scruffy and shabby. No hot water water to the shower. Shower mixer obviously broken as hot water to basin tap. Informed reception but nothing done about it and no alternative room offered. We were however told that there was a shared bathroom down stairs but no rebate offered against the ensuite price!

Review 69:Breakfast was ok. Buffet style suits contractors. We stayed previous week and the room was ok so booked in again.

Review 70:Various flaws with our initial room but was moved to a new room the next day. Hotel needs to do something about the glazing on the windows as we could here the traffic etc they also should put more sockets on the wall and also tidy up the bathroom as there was some sort of plant growing out of some foamy stuff around the shower unit"

Review 71:Breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful. The beds were very comfortable too. Ideally located for Excel and other attractions with a good restaurant within walking distance

Review 72:An awful smell in the bathroom and in the room too. The doors were destroyed and we could hardly look and unlock the door. The back wall of the wardrobe was also destroyed.

Review 73:The shower tiles weren't clean. The wallpaper was coming off. The duvet cover was ripped. You can hear people from the next rooms. The corridor smelt damp and the carpet wasn't very clean.

Review 74:Could not sleep due to cleaners would not respect the do not disturb sign. How many time do you need to clean the carpet outside my door? once I would have thought but no four times. I was on a night shift and the reception new of my work rotations.

Review 75:Very noisy as was right beside reception, particularly first thing in morning for breakfast. Some staff more helpful than others. No shower for arrival night and next morning as needed unblocking which was annoying after a long day. People smoking right outside room so always smelt of smoke.

Review 76:Breakfast was nice and their staff lovely

Review 77:We had 4 room's booked. This hotel give's budget hotels a bad name. Each room had major problems. Broken toilets, where we had to place our hand in the cistern to flush!!!! cigarettes down the plug hole and carpets ripped. Two room's smelt of cigarettes. The poor receptionist was constantly having to deal with complaints. There slogan "A good night sleep" is laughable" The noise level from inside and outside the hotel is ridiculous. We possible had 4-5 hours sleep. A letter of complaint has been sent asking for a full refund. No reply as yet. Terrible hotel.

Review 78:Enjoyed the room my partner and I really like the Bank Hotel will always be staying there near the high street

Review 79:Hotel very friendly nice staff rooms well kept

Review 80:Double en suit rooms very small with a desk to work at, but not enough room for a chair to sit at the desk. Wifi doesn't work in Room 4, which is directly under heavily used creaking staircase - swapped to Room 27, which had wrong size toilet seat and broken taps.

Review 81:Situated within walking distance of Ilford town centre and station. Ample parking.

Review 82:We did not enjoy the breakfast, it was really poor with low choices. Our room was really cold, the heather was turned off when we first arrived around 13:00 pm, we ask to the staff to turn it on, and they said it wasn't possible until 14:30pm, so we wait for it, and nothing, my husband had to return to the recepcion and remind them again.Next day in the morning, around 8:00 am the heather was off again. Its a stupid politic of them just to save power.

Review 83:You can tell the rooms are used a lot as there are small damages here and there and we came across a broken tv plug.

Review 84:The location is right next to a beautiful park and lots of shops on the other side. Staff is great and its clean. Breakfast service is also amazing.

Review 85:A bedside light would have improved the comfort of my stay or a switch I could reach from the bed

Review 86:it was convenient for my next appointment and there was good parking

Review 87:My friend missed his flight. The hotel didn't care and charged me the full price for his room for two nights! I thought this was ridiculous !!!

Review 88:Bathroom was nice.....

Review 89:Terrable rooms ,was shown 3 rooms Ist reeked of smoke,2nd was mouldy bathroom,3rd smelt of damp and was told it was a double and turned out to be a single with bed pushed against the wall ,only one plug The bathroom had pices of rag poked in the pipe work and the shower tray was all broken at the bottem. The hotel doesent give refunds so we had no other choice. Pictures on web look nothing like the actual rooms.

Review 90:The breakfast

Review 91:noisy people in hallway and outside car park. Plus too many outsiders not staying in hotel, using up all the parking spaces.

Review 92:Lovely all you can eat breakfast.

Review 93:Requested the heating to be turned off, was done but at 4.30am had to go down to recepton for same request. Breakfast was ok but a bit lacking some nice hash browns would of made it perfect.

Review 94:Location and parking

Review 95:Breakfast times should be extended especially at weekends. 7am -9am is not long enough especially if you have young children. Should be to at least 10am.

Review 96:Clean room, bedding and bathroom

Review 97:Breakfast times should be extended until atleast 10am especially on weekends and if you have you children, a bit difficult to get them up for breakfast that finishes at 9am

Review 98:Good size family room and clean

Review 99:Sink blocked shower blocked funny smell tele did not work properly toilet didn't flush properly not enough pillows 2 tiny hand towels for the shower rather then a bath sheet noisy corridor could hear everything and1 in the rooms Nxt door

Review 100:Shower water is cold when the hotel is full. Wifi turns to be really slow when the hotel is full. The neighbour night club is noisy until 3 am.

Review 101:Nice breakfast, friendly stuff, and convenient traffic to the tube of central line.

Review 102:The loud music and the pillows. the location of the mirror and the downy needs changing!

Review 103:I loved the location and the in room bathroom also the 24 hour reception.

Review 104:Some other customers reviews as they seem unfair. For £50 a night for 3 of us in the one room, I think this great value.

Review 105:Hotel staff were very polite and our stay was pleasant. Only stayed the one night and breakfast was a surprise as for the low price of the room it was included.

Review 106:Within the details of the hotel it states that the tube station is only a few minutes walk away which isn't entirely true as it was about half an hour walk, so I would be careful if you want to catch the tube. However, the lady on reception did tell us about the train station which was only ten minutes walk from the hotel.

Review 107:The staff that were on duty that night as we stayed at the Banks Hotel were excellent, they did everything they could to help us out and gave us a lot of advice for Ilford.

Review 108:we had to call too many times for direction but the receptionist didnt once call back to find out if we made our way

Review 109:the carpets,the rooms,beds,cleanliness,the breakfast too

Review 110:I had 2 sleepless nights which affected my meetings, mood and my drive back to civilization. The door that goes out to the front was banging from 10pm til 3am on Friday and til 5am on Saturday. Your guests talking loudly and then some guests drinking beer at breakfast and shouting like morons. I guess the area attracts people who are ill mannered or ignorant imbeciles. The breakfast should have vege sausages and hash browns at least. Notices on the exit doors should be displayed that guests should use the Main Reception doors after 11pm and to keep quiet or to put super glue 3 on their mouth. I feel so sorry for the residents who have paid thousands to have to put up with sleepless nights and loud unsavoury characters hanging around on their street.

Review 111:The room was clean and the 2 young men at the reception desk were pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast was great and fresh and the staff were really helpful, but needs to be addressed for vegans. New towels and bar of soap for a 2 night stay?? Very good service, but not cost effective for the owner or for the carbon footprint. No need at all to change the towels or room service for a 2 night stay. However I would expect room service for a 3 night or more stay. I have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels around the world and the Travelodge in the UK. You need cards on the door to state if room service is required or not if staying over 3 nights, especially at that low price.

Review 112:they were really friendly about us being in costume and leaving early and returning late and they held onto our bags on the day we we're leaving cause we had to checkout early so they let us leave our bags until we returned from the comic con

Review 113:They had no suckets in the bathroom, so I could not shave proper nor cut my hair. My wife couldnot use her hair dryer. The shower tap wasn't flowing. I suggest they correct these things. Their tv wasn't a satilite, so my wife could not watch spanish programs on tv. Additionally, their breakfast was the same thing everyday.

Review 114:It was always warm in the room due to their good heating system.

Review 115:Couldn't fault the hotel for the great price we paid. Didn't quite make it for breakfast so couldn't comment on that. Would stay again at that price

Review 116:Banks hotel is near all the facilities that u need, the room was tidy with coffee and tea available, bed was so comfy. Bathroom was in a tidy state, took a while to work out the shower, breakfast was served in a nice pleasant lounge area, and was very tasty, but sorry my only whinge is that there were no hash browns been served, but my stay was enjoyable and I would use this hotel again

Review 117:Drainage system in the toilet and shower from. There should be a hand shower (Perinal Spray) along with the W.C for proper cleaning. Being a Muslim it is difficult to use the toilet paper it does not give a satisfaction.

Review 118:The Cleanliness is the best in the Bank hotel.

Review 119:room way smaller than shown in picture problems with shower(leaking to floor, sometimes no water pressure) loud activities during night loud traffic durring morrning case of prostitution in next room

Review 120:ok price plain but ok breakfast ok location

Review 121:Saw a rat run into someone's room. Reported it to staff and they weren't bothered about it. Was kept up all night buy a rowdy bunch of kids in the room next door. They were screaming and shouting, at one point I got a smell of them smoking drugs out of the window. Reported it to staff on server a locations throughout the night but nothing was done about it.

Review 122:Not so sure about security of rooms. Damp smell in the room and toilets Beds were very old, although comfortable Light switches require some maintenance General maintenance of the rooms is required.

Review 123:Location, parking spaces, staff has been helpful. Room service is good. Cleaning standard is also standard. Value for money.

Review 124:The venue next door was playing really loud music, though no fault of the hotel. The day we visited we decided to check reviews and a few were really bad and said about rats which automatically paranoid us however we didn't see anything and we checked everything out when we checked in and had no problems whatsoever. Also we asked for an iron and the lady at the desk said she'll bring it over and after many requests and waiting for an hour she told us there wasn't one at all wasting and hour of our day, if she had said in the beginning there wasn't one it wouldn't have been a problem.

Review 125:The bed was really comfortable it really was a good night's sleep. everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was nice too and the restaurant area was lovely overall quite impressed

Review 126:We were told bedsheets would be changed after 7 nights. We stayed 10days and we used same bedsheets throughout. They were not changed despite the fact that they were dirty.

Review 127:Friendly and attentive staff.

Review 128:My stay was far below my expectations after arriving to a dirty, noisy hotel, disrupted until 3am with traffic, drinks and our hotel guests. I strongly recommend not staying here. A great disappointment

Review 129:Nothing!

Review 130:We were given a room at the furthest point away from the stairs. Our room smelt strongly of mould. The windows were wide open when we entered the room. I am assuming that that was the reason for it. I had to ask the front desk for air freshener, but this made no difference. After spending about 30 minutes in the room my head began to ache and my breathing got worse. As we tried to make ourselves more comfortable and took our shoes off we realised that the carpet was wet. We had not had a shower or used any of the wet facilities on the room.I went down to reception to complain at this point because I could no breathe and it became apparent that I would not be able to sleep in this room. When I made the complaint I was almost ignored and told that that was the only room available. It was only when I explained to them that I was asthmatic that they thought there was a problem.I was accompanied up to my room after stating that one of the staff should at least come and verify the problem. The staff member touched the carpet and then called for maintenance. The whole time that they were in our room, so were we and could not relax. The maintenance decided to move the bed as we had pointed out that we could see traces of mould and it’s most likely that this is where the smell was coming from.Only to find a thick layer of mould on the carpet, the back of the bed, the bed frame and the bottom of the wall. They looked so shocked but continued to tinker in the shower stating that the sealant had come away from the shower and that's why the carpet is wet.I pointed out to them that mould like that doesn't grow over night and I believe that they are all aware that this was an issue and they should not be renting a room in this condition. After much deliberation, miraculously another room was found for us even though we were told that there was no other room available.

Review 131:It was close to town Breakfast was included

Review 132:Everything about this place is nothing to write home about from thereception staff to all the service. This object has no intercom, noa/c, hot water was not running in room 27 where I stayed, rooms arebox rooms. I regret ever choosing this hotel. Booking.com its high timeyou start inspecting hotels before you advertise hotels if this is notchecked I promise you will loose promising customers.

Review 133:Absolutely nothing

Review 134:The Banks Hotel was the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in in my life. The rooms were extremely small and cramped, the bathroom was moldy, the carpet was dirty, there is no electric iron (had to purchase one for myself), the kettle and utensils were dirty, they did not change the bedding; they kept making up the same dirty one daily. The same poorly made breakfast was served daily. Banks Hotel slogan is "A good night sleep" but the on good night sleep you get is the first night because you are knocked out jet log after a transcontinental flight. I will never ever stay at this hotel again or recommend this hotel to anyone. An oh by the way, the Staff did not speak English and were not helpful with our needs.

Review 135:The moment I checked out!
