Reviews for Feathers Royal Hotel
Review 1:what can I say, there was nothing to dislike.
Review 2:1st class, excellent service, would liked to have stayed longer, than one night, but will definitely be a hotel to use in the future.
Review 3:I was a single female traveler, the staff put me in a room on my own for the evening meal. I made it clear that I was not happy but no one at the time either explained or apologised. I felt I was in solitary confinement. It spoiled my visit.
Review 4:Breakfast staff were lovely and the best scrambled eggs I have tried for a long time.
Review 5:Covers on beds were too heavy. Would prefer light but warm duvets. Chairs in room were not comfortable.
Review 6:Meals and breakfasts were excellent. Good access to car park. Lovely clean bathroom.
Review 7:The corridors looked very tired and in need of decorating. Rooms were extremely cold but fine once you turned your radiators on. The only aspect that let it down was the fact that there was a lot of noise at the back of the hotel, from kitchen staff and a generator underneath plus doors banging throughout the night.
Review 8:Location central, car park to the rear was handy with entrance to the hotel on the same level of the bedrooms to avoid using the stairs. Room was lovely and breakfast was fantastic value for money with plenty of variety. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 9:No instant coffee available in room
Review 10:Breakfast was excellent, staff courteous, warned us of a function before we arrived. Hotel a 2 minute walk from town, so was quiter. Nice bar area with comfy seating.
Review 11:Can't think about of anything but suggest the luxury of the sunken bath would not be suitable for the elderly visitor as no handles on side of the bath. No problem for us though.
Review 12:Breakfast and comfortable bed and cleanliness of room
Review 13:Three small things that would make a big difference. Grab rail in bathroom to stop slipping on floor. Use decent sausages and bread at breakfast. Cheap sausage and sliced bread a letdown. Expected better quality for the price.
Review 14:The room was lovely. Bed was extremely comfortable. In a perfect position for trips out, or a walk into town for food and drink
Review 15:The stairs to our room were very steep but the hotel is an old coaching inn and we expected a degree of quaintness.
Review 16:The hotel is very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful
Review 17:When I opened the wardrobe door someone's dirty tissue fell out, which was a bit off-putting. There was also a small red stain on the white hand towel so I asked for another one.
Review 18:The bed mattress was soooooo comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were good. There was a nice complimentary bottle of water. I liked the attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious though they didn't have vegetarian sausages. I was surprised that they didn't have decaffinated tea. Whilst my score is has been calculated as 7.5, I would say it was 8.00
Review 19:Our room was superb. My wife complained about our own bed at home in comparison!! The lady who served us at breakfast was very nice indeed and the breakfast itself was just perfect. All together a most enjoyable stay - well done (and Aberaeron is the most beautiful little seaside town - immaculately kept by the locals).
Review 20:Stayed for 3 nights whilst touring the area. Room and En-suit very clean, bed (King size) most comfortable and spoilt for choice at breakfast with well cooked and served food. Had a most enjoyable dinner each night in the resturant with good food and friendly staff. Would certainly stay here again if in the area.
Review 21:The cold unfriendly receptionist who needed charm school. Very noisy plumbing from neighbouring rooms. Broken/faulty ceiling light. Toiletry/gown only for one despite room for 2.
Review 22:The high standard of evening meal. The well laid out bedroom The ease of access from the car park to room as stairs too steep for elderly. Lovely breakfast.
Review 23:Minor niggle but would have been nice to have more choice at breakfast..maybe croissants, fresh bread, bagels etc..and hot chocolate in addition to tea and coffee.
Review 24:The room was large, nice decor, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Lovely bathroom with a good shower. Breakfast ok, tasty and well presented.
Review 25:Not very friendly service at breakfast
Review 26:Lovely hotel with lots of character. Great location for travelling on the coast. Good size airy room, which was very comfortable
Review 27:Slightly disappointed in evening meal 'specialty' fish and chips but wife was very happy with her lasagna.
Review 28:Comfy bed and excellent breakfast with very friendly staff. Car parking was good as well.
Review 29:rather bland attitude of one or two of the senior male staff - little warmth.
Review 30:Excellent food, very good service, majority of staff very pleasant and helpful
Review 31:We booked the Superior room from the Hotel slide show but on arrivalthis room seemed to be double booked? We were given a Family room afterrefusing a poor double for our two nights stay and after paying andcomplaining we didn't receive what we had payed for, we have sincebeen offered a free nights stay from the owners
Review 32:The Staff were very helpful and friendly and the Hotel and Dinning roomsvery nice and comfortable and the food excellent
Review 33:Were allocated a room which was more suitable for a disabled guest however there was a strange odour in the room and we felt uncomfortable sleeping there. We were allocated another room with two small double beds which was much better.
Review 34:The staff were very pleasant and helpful and addressed our concerns immediately.
Review 35:Would have prefeffered buffet cooked breakfast not just the cold buffet. The quality of the breakfast was good. Could have done with some background music in the breakfast room as i did feel quite conscious of other guests conversations and our own . Would definitely stay again.
Review 36:Location and coziness of the hotel and parking was great? Evening meal was very good.
Review 37:whilst I appreciate that the property is old the positioning of the bed in the room I was in was so close to the door that each time anyone passed outside of it the creaking floorboards and the opening and closing of doors awoke me. The shower ran hot and cold while on a single setting and so it was pot luck between extremes of hot and cold when using it
Review 38:The female staff appeared happy in their work and all matters requested were dealt with a smile. The male staff were the opposite and were rather glum. Breakfast however, was excellent.
Review 39:Nothing.
Review 40:Warm welcome with all details explained to me. Lovely decorated single room followed by a good nights sleep and the following day set off with a hearty breakfast
Review 41:Our breakfast the first morning was far from appetising but improved for the subsequent days except for the limp toast. Bathroom was far too small, one had to retire into the bedroom to dryoneself after a shower.
Review 42:The seaside town of Aberaeron. Ease of access to the hotel at anytime. The room itself apart from the view overlooking the parking area which lacked privacy.
Review 43:Nothing
Review 44:We stayed here for one night and had dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel was lovely, our room had a vintage charm to it, was spacious and very clean. White fluffy towels and a very good power shower. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious, could not fault the service, we had drinks in the lounge and as soon as we were seated our starters were served. The food was excellent, I had Prawns to start with followed by Salmon and my partner had tomato and basil soup and Thai green curry. We then shared waffles with coconut ice cream and maple syrup for dessert. The welsh cooked breakfast in the morning was just as good and there was also plenty of fresh fruit and yoghurts to choose from. The hotel is a real gem and we also loved the location, Aberaeron, is a small quaint seaside town, full of Georgian elegance, the houses are all brightly coloured, with an abundance of beautiful flowers and everywhere is very well kept. We would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.
Review 45:The floor upstairs was at a crazy angle in places. My bedroom door looked drunk as a result. The decor was very old fashioned. A serious update needed. Steep stairs to the first floor, so not good if you struggle with that sort of thing. My room had a very uninspiring view of the hotel roof.
Review 46:Loved the location - aberaeron is lovely. Comfortable beds. Good food. Nice lounge. And great water pressure in the shower.
Review 47:there was a central heating pump,or something like it, kept starting up , and stopping, going on 24 hours a day, quite noisy, I complained to the man who booked us in he was not helpful ,he didn't even come to our room to see where the noise was coming from, also there was a wedding reception at the hotel the music kept us awake till the small hours the breakfast was very small considering the price we paid, we wont be back there, roger ocallaghan
Review 48:Dinner at the restaurant was not up to what we were hoping, Having read the much admired menu, Wine waiter most certainly did not know his duties,
Review 49:Location and parking is excellent Manageress was very attentive,
Review 50:The room was like a furnace, it was ground floor so not really viable to leave windows open during the daytime. We were there during the very hot weather though so probably not normally such a problem.
Review 51:Size of room, bathroom, lovely evening meal and an excellent breakfast.
Review 52:We were allocated a twin room at the rear of the hotel (Room 9) which was over the kitchen area. Our sleep was interrupted most nights by a freezer switching on at intermittent intervals for around 30 seconds each time. Décor and facilities were good in our room. We would stay at the hotel again, but not in that room!
Review 53:Location, helpful staff, good quality food, comfortable beds
Review 54:we had traveled for 5 hours for our sons graduation so we were delighted with the hotel and the lovely room, we also had requested the sunken bath which made the stay very nice! Also had a superb meal in the evening.
Review 55:Our room was above the function room and there was a function first night we stayed, but it did finish at 12.00am.So not bad really. A little pricey, but was very comfortable stay
Review 56:Excellent room(family room although only the 2 of us) but still spacious and very very clean. Beds very comfy and had an excellent sleep the two nights we stayed.Bathroom had bath and shower, which I like and tea/coffee making facilities and well stocked. Linen/towels smelled very fresh and were spotless. Breakfast was superb, plenty choice and everything I had was well cooked and prepared. Couldn't fault it at all. Would certainly stay here again if ever down visiting in Aberaeron/Lampeter area again. and certainly recommend it to anyone.
Review 57:Main road location quite noisy Very poor internet and wifi service. Not available in all rooms as stated. Although it has a 5* rating I don't think it's justified
Review 58:Ease of getting into village Great breakfast Comfy bed
Review 59:The hotel more or less shuts at 10.00pm. that being said, so did the town!
Review 60:The location of the Hotel is ideal for exploring the town. The food was excellent and yet the Hotel at first didn't inspire us to book a place in the restaurant. It was only because a local told us about it!
Review 61:What's not to like?
Review 62:Booked this hotel the evening before we were due to arrive as our previous hotel had double booked us. So thankful that they did because our 2 night stay here was lovely. The staff were all courteous and friendly and our room (No 2) was very clean and overlooked the Square. Breakfast was superb and served to us in no time at all and with a smile. The hotel itself is an old 1815 coaching inn and still retains its original character, very quirky. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
Review 63:Had to go outside and up a side road, pushing my husband in his wheelchair in order to get to our room.
Review 64:The staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs as my husband is in a wheelchair.
Review 65:The managers attitude. When I said there was only one bathrobe he said that people had stolen so many they only had one robe per day. I requested shower gel and he said that bath salts were the same and that he did not have any shower gel. When you pay top rate for a room you expect better customer service.
Review 66:The situation a very comfortable bed and good food.
Review 67:The Feathers Hotel is very accessible to Aberaeron and in a very peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the majority welsh speaking. The food was good with a good choice of menu. We will definitely stay at The Feathers again and would recommend to others.
Review 68:Only one criticism when I asked if I could have a sandwich at 8.30 one evening after reading your menu which said you served up to 9 I was told you didnt serve sandwiches only main meals, was a little dissapointed, apart from that my stay was great as usual
