Dating back to the 1800s, The Downshire Hotel in Portpatrick looks out to sea on Scotland’s west coast. A 15-minute drive from Stranraer, it has a bar and restaurant and offers free parking and Wi-Fi.

Review 1：Disappointed to find bathroom window still screwed closed from our last visit at Easter. Would also benefit with some form of heating in bathroom, also a more comfortable chair in the bedroom.

Review 5：I slept in the most uncomfortable bed in western Europe. It was so bad, I had to sleep on my duvet to make it bearable. The shower pressure was extremely low also.

Review 9：staff very friendly, on suite rooms , locals in bar very welcoming, my main concern was how my large labradoodle would be accepted, he became a star attraction and he got cooked sausages delivered to our room every morning. on xmas day food wasn,t being served, so we took our own food and they opened the restaurant for us to use privately. we would go back in a heart beat. they also do holiday homes at a very reasonable rate.

Review 14：There was a crowd of men in the hotel and between the hours of 12.30am - 4am they were causing havoc, not a good experience for me or my wife, not a lot of sleep, that was a big disappointment, the staff did apologise, but it did put a dampner on our trip as we were tired.

Review 16：As we were oap . We did not like the spiral staircase, my wifereceived news about a bereavement in the family so we could only staythe one night. I thought as we were oap they might have not chargedfor the two days.
