Review 9：The door coming back in from the courtyard didn't have a handle so we couldn't get back in after the pictures were taken. We were kept awake every time someone came through the door on our corridor (it was heavy and needed oiling) and then the staff were clearing the courtyard right outside our window at 7am, up and down, up and down, on the concrete in clicky heels which wasn't appreciated on a Sunday - get some trainers!!!

Review 10：It was very good, our room was comfortable and clean and the hotel was lovely. Can't really rate the location as we were guests to the area attending a wedding. Had a terrible nights sleep though, see my negatives!

I also had a terrible sleep as i was located next to the smoking area so could hear everything outside. Closing the window wasnt an option as the room had no airconditioning

Review 20：Heating/hot water switched on at about 5am in the morning. Radiator in our room banged (like it was being hit by a hammer) from then on. No sleep! Light above bed wasn't working. Smoke door was jammed open on carpet & couldn't close properly because the mechanism was broken - really, really seriously bad! Given a discount but that's not the point.

Some areas of my room needed a good dusting - I would have used the iPod dock if it hadn't been thickly covered in dust, as was the headboard and the back of the TV was a no-go area. Otherwise, the room was clean.

Review 25：The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Helped with carrying my case upstairs. Comfortable room and bathroom was spotlessly clean. I liked the tea & coffee making facilities in the room which were also available downstairs in the lobby. Loved the free Wi-Fi.

Unfortunately on both overnight stays, weddings were taking place which left little/no space for guests to enjoy. It was very noisy with the wedding parties celebrating till 2am and 3am in the morning resulting in disturbed sleep. I would not recommend this as a quiet hotel at weekends

Review 32：Relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff with amazing memories!!! As our 1st wedding anniversary it was made SO special and we had the quiet time together which we were not appreciative of in our wedding day , held at this venue, would recommend to anyone.

Review 33：The first night we were there our sleep was very disturbed by the extremely noisy guests at a wedding...the noise went on until after 3.00am. It is a shame the guests were not requested to respect other guests at the hotel who wanted sleep.

Review 38：The food served up was appalling, steak was not rested and bleeding over the plate, the onion rings were burnt and greasy and the presentation was like something out of a greasy spoon. The shower was not more than a trickle. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable

The food is absolutely terrible and out of the 70s. Not much positive to say about a hotel that charges as much as it does

Review 45：The room had the toilet seat ripped off. The main lighting in the room was awful with a blown bulb. The toilet is positioned near the entrance to the shower so someone less agile could fall climbing over it. Upon complaining, I was advised the hotel would respond to me that day. Nothing has happened since. The cleaner actually accused my wife of damaging the toilet rather than taking responsibility.

Review 47：Breakfast buffet - Wasn't too sure on arrival for breakfast what to do - as to correct etiquette. Would of liked a staff member to be around to just say "sit where ever and help yourselves" Or on check in to just say breakfast is buffet style. Just come to the restaurant and sit where ever and help yourself to all. Wonderful breakfast.

Review 53：Whilst the restaurant meal was nice, the portions were small. Service was slow to show to a table even though few diners were in the restaurant. The same at breakfast. Order taking was also slow at the table with a fellow diner at breakfast getting their order and breakfast well before I had even my order taken, despite me being there 5 minutes before. The room was tired and dated, and a carpet headboard is not very hygienic. The windows didn't really help block the sound from the car park which was right out side the room.

We ended up having to eat in our room at a cost of £5 extra. Then the disco started wich we could hear load and clear from our room. It was dissapointing as the hotel was nice.

Review 63：The room I had this time was rather small. The window locked shut and had to be fixed by the maintenance man. The hotel iron leaked and the ironing board fell to pieces... The fire doors are in very poor condition and do not shut properly or were left open... So basically, as in many hotels, a nice hotel slightly spoilt by lack of maintenance. I will stay again as normally it's pretty good.

There was a wedding event that infringed on everyone else in the hotel as guests didn't stay in the function room and when we wanted to order at the bar was told that they weren't sure they could give us a bar snack as they were too busy with a wedding..., would never stay here again! Rooms are dated and you can hear people in the next room. Not clean enough.

Rooms noisy when weddings held at the hotel as people congregate outside for photos, ok in the Winter as too cold to stay outside for long but could be an issue in the summer. Those rooms would be best allocated to wedding guests and other guests given quieter rooms.

Bed was comfortable & breakfast really tasty & well stocked. Staff was friendly & I think it was the manager walked round every morning & had a chat with the guest having breakfast. The room was quite chilly but we were going out in a short while anyway. When we came back the heating was on and the room was at a very comfortable temperature.

Excellent value, great location, really friendly staff who found me a fan and a phone charger. The building and surroundings are lovely with fabulous decor and sculptures. the social areas were cosy and comfortable and our room was beautifully decorated and maintained. If I was ever in the Liverpool/Manchester area again I would actually go out of my way to stay here again. the staff also gave us directions to an excellent restaurant nearby.
