Reviews for An Sugan Guesthouse

Review 1:Nothing bad but couldn't find staff for breakfast for a while, and had to wait 10mins to find someone to pay

Review 2:Clean and quiet, central to clonakilty

Review 3:Friendly staff, good location. The room we stayed in (number 1) was very spacious and had everything we needed. The breakfast (included) was lovely. This was a lovely base to explore some of the Irish coast!

Review 4:Housekeeping was very poor during three night stay, towels not replaced and dust bins not emptied. On the day of arrival had to wait an hour before checking into property.

Review 5:The light in the bathroom was not fitted correctly and flickered constantly making using the bathroom at night quite painful. The food in the restaurant was also fairly expensive. We paid 60 euros and only one of us ate.

Review 6:Room was clean, bright and well decorated, wifi was strong which was a must for us.

Review 7:We had a twin room after requesting a double. Beds not very comfortable and room & bathroom could have been cleaner.

Review 8:Great location and friendly staff. Also freshly cooked breakfast was great.

Review 9:Had to come home.

Review 10:Centre of town location. Denis is the first person to greet you and that in itself makes it worth staying here. Breakfast is excellent and locally sourced. Loved the AnSugan loved Clonakillty

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:The guest house is well appointed -our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was substantial and included specialties of the house-the muesli and porridge was to die for.

Review 13:Walls were a little thin, bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

Review 14:Lovely location, great staff, fab breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable too.

Review 15:Great location in the town of Clonakilty. Building felt safe and rooms were as per photos on website. Staff were really friendly and offered a wonderful homemade breakfast.

Review 16:Denis was great and very helpful - we were doing charity cycle for cancer etc on Sat 12th Sept and the chef helped me with quick release wheel on my bike! Customer service excellent and I would recommend it to other people

Review 17:Lack of parking and extreme early morning noise due to road works

Review 18:Lovely property, I generally don't like b&b's but this property may have changed my mind a tad

Review 19:Breakfast was meant to be at half 8 on did Sunday morning the person only came in to cook it at half 8 which meant I was Not able to have any before I went and competed in a sports event

Review 20:Shower tray in our room gathered water so it was a bath and a shower at the same time. Shower door wasn't the cleanest.

Review 21:The food is gorgeous. Had dinner in the bar, quite expensive but very very nice. Breakfast was lovely too.

Review 22:Bedlinen was clean but cushions on bed were stained ,shabby and smelt stale. Room at ground level looking directly into service yard with bins empty drinks bottles and washing line. Staff passing up and down by window with bin bags.

Review 23:Breakfast was good. Location was good but it does NOT have private parking. Onstreet parking only.

Review 24:Stayed for 3 nights. Room was not cleaned, bins were not emptied and tea tray not replenished during stay. Had to ask three times for an extra pillow.

Review 25:Breakfast was good.

Review 26:Bedside lamp shade broken. Shower needed a shelf for wash bag and stuff

Review 27:In town location but very quiet. Good food and an excellently presented old house.

Review 28:On our arrival, there was hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower. After the room was cleaned, the hair was still on the floor and our dirty cups were still left untouched. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable!!

Review 29:The location is excellent, right in the heart of the small town. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice and generous portions, freshly prepared. The size of the bedroom was very spacious with plenty of storage.

Review 30:Breakfast room too close to main front door entrance. Draty whendwellers vacating premises.

Review 31:Free wi. Fi nice breakfast. Cost wise pricy at 330 euro for 3 nights.Had stayed previous 2 nights in hotel in Kilkenny for 2 nights for 129euro which incuded 2 evening 2 course meals on one of the nights.

Review 32:The wifi didn't work and it was a little over priced for a guesthouse, but in saying that the comfort was more on a hotel level.

Review 33:Our room was huge and very comfortable. Location is very central and food in the bar is beautiful. Highly recommend

Review 34:No complaints whatsoever!!!!

Review 35:The quietness of our room, it's cleanliness and the very central location of the guesthouse. The breakfast was absolutely first class, freshly cooked, and the brown bread and toasted white bread were truly delicious. None of this disgusting dried, greasy, flavourless and cold bacon, eggs, sausages, puddings sitting on a so called "hot plate" for hours and where you serve yourself this muck. Other eateries in the town, take note. It was most convenient to be able to have a coffee and sandwich in the Sugan bar on our arrival on Thursday afternoon when hungry. Denis has a wonderful personality, very drole and completely unflappable. Coolness personified. Please convey our assessment of the Sugan B&B to management. Great value also. Eugene and Louise Barry

Review 36:the place was lacking in any personal warmth. you checked in at the bar and the manager was helpful and friendly but breakfast in the morning was v limited for children and was not at all inviting. The cooked breakfast was cooked earlier and reheated in the microwave! Very disappointing.

Review 37:Its location was very good. The building was well maintained and had great history.

Review 38:Room was a little warm as heating on in June, apparently others had said they were cold, we had to open the window which made it a little noisy for sleeping, otherwise it was perfect.

Review 39:Very nice accomodation

Review 40:Hair clippings on bathroom floor, must not have been cleaned prior to our use!

Review 41:Very friendly obliging staff! Lovely modern room! Lovely breakfast!not rushed for check out!

Review 42:The rooms were very basic, beds small, pillows very uncomfortable and one room the bedding was not clean. Made up for a poor nights sleep. Disappointing as gentleman owner worked so hard from moment we arrived until we left.

Review 43:Friendle staff and central location.

Review 44:We hope the new drainage scheme is finished soon. Would have liked to be able to turn off the central heating. Tea making facilities not refreshed.

Review 45:Great room, very clean, slap bang in the middle of town.

Review 46:Ideal location and welcoming friendly staff who greeted is each day. The guesthouse was so quiet and relaxing. Perfect spot for sight seeing. Lovely lively pubs nearby. Fabulous food in An Sugan. We couldn't fault it! Such good value for money Id go again

Review 47:The room felt a wee bit grubby and looked out onto a dirty yard. The floors above don't have any insulation so you can very clearly hear the people in the room above. Overall, a bit overpriced for a B&B in my opinion.

Review 48:The staff - fantastic service and welcome The food - we missed breakfast but dinner was top notch The location - very central but yet quiet location

Review 49:whiskey porridge. It did say there would be Irish Mist in the porridge on the menu, I just didn't know that was a whiskey liquor. Not a good idea the morning after a wedding. Everything else breakfast-wise was lovely.

Review 50:Staff were very friendly and the room was nice. The Sugan bar is super.

Review 51:Wi Fi only available in ground floor sitting room, not in our bedroom. Room could have been cleaner - there was an empty shampoo bottle in the shower when we arrived. :( Also, only two towels - no hand towels, which wasn't great.

Review 52:Great breakfast, friendly staff and excellent location

Review 53:There was no wi-fi connection even though a password is provided. A little more attention to the bathroom is needed.

Review 54:The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 55:Loved everything.

Review 56:The staff were very friendly, easy to find. Brilliant location. Lovely clean rooms, comfortable beds, big shower, must more than just a B and B , it's more like hotel standard, would highly recommend yo stay if visiting Clonakilty or a wedding in inchdoney.

Review 57:Excellent location. Our room was very comfortable. Staff very pleasant and extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful! Well Done to The Sugan! Keep it up we will definitely be back soon.

Review 58:Very good value guesthouse in a location that's very quiet so you're guaranteed a good night's sleep. There is a little bit of noise between rooms, but everyone that was staying close to mine was civilised so it wasn't an issue. Good strong shower.

Review 59:I couldn't connect to the wifi at all when I was there what ever the problem was.

Review 60:An Sugan is located within walking distance of the town. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Particularly the porridge made with cream and irish mist! It's located adjacent to An Sugan reataurant which has a reputation for excellent food that it most certainly lives up to.

Review 61:Never got the hotel wifi to work. Gave up and went to the pub instead. Also, faded elegance is great - but ALL the breakfast coffee cups were chipped. Time for new crockery!

Review 62:Room was large and comfy. The pub next door is lovely to snuggle in! The people couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming.

Review 63:No major complaints. It would be good to have wi-fi access in the bedrooms.

Review 64:Great staff, great breakfast, comfortable room with a comfortable bed - all the essentials were there.

Review 65:Have stayed in the Sugan several times now and have no complaints.

Review 66:Near town. Food great. Anything we asked for there was no problem getting it. Prompt service.

Review 67:We had a wonderful night in An Sugan considering weather was not great. Room was comfortable warm and spotless. Had a lovely meal , great service etc and lovely breakfast the following morning.

Review 68:Beautiful little guest house perfectly located in the centre of Clonakilty. We really enjoyed our stay and would most certainly stay there again when we return to Clonakilty.

Review 69:Rooms were a little cold and friends room seemed to be slightly damp.

Review 70:Breakfast. Rooms were a good size and very well presented. Staff extremely courteous and relaxed.

Review 71:While we had a very nice breakfast choice was a little limited cereals etc and was expecting CLONAKILTY pudding which I love but overall had a great stay and would recommend it

Review 72:It is hard to review properly as we checked in and then went to a local hotel for a wedding however from our limited time there everything was lovely and we would certainly stay here again hopefully for a nice leisure visit as the town was lovely also and we would love to return

Review 73:Great cosy room, easy walking distance to most places, nice friendly staff, no street/pub noise at night. No problem with on street parking.Awesome breakfast! Will definitely be back!

Review 74:The pillows were flat and uncomfortable.

Review 75:The rooms were well appointed, clean and close to town. Breakfast was first class. The pub adjoining has wonderful food and a cosy atmosphere

Review 76:Only negative I could find was the hot water seemed to run out or stop 2 minutes into my shower.

Review 77:The room was clean, modern and comfortable. Staff were excellent and friendly - really add to our stay. Great value for money.

Review 78:hairs in the shower....not cleaned properly. room too hot - couldn't turn off radiator. on street parking only. wifi only works in downstairs sitting room.

Review 79:friendly & helpful staff excellent central location good breakfast - freshly cooked good quality adjoining restaurant/bar real fire lit in sitting room - v. nice!

Review 80:Nothing

Review 81:The food and staff. Denis and Michael were so helpful and friendly...but then everyone in Clonakilty is that's why we love the place so much and keep going back!

Review 82:The room was very cold as heating was switched off at the radiators, we put them on but heating only came on for a short time in the day when we were out. So was very cold all the time. Although it says towels daily we had to ask on the first day as no new towels had been left. The lady owner who gave us breakfast was not a very happy person and never engaged in any social chat on either days. Lucky for us we knew the town as no information was offered at breakfast. I have stayed in many hotels and B/Bs in Ireland this was not a good experience. Black pudding was burnt and toast was cold. Would not stay again.

Review 83:Location is great as it is in the town so easy to get to all shops, pubs and restaurants. House has nice decor. The restaurant Au Sugan was great as always, lovely food and great barman.

Review 84:Everything. A very comfortable stay with a lovely bright bathroom, nice shower and lovely armchairs and small table and ample space. Digital radio a big bonus as tv is hopeless these days!!! Gorgeous breakfast and surrounded by beautiful decor...tastefully decorated.

Review 85:The rooms at the front are very noisy early in the morning due to a creamery across the road with lorries delivering milk. We stayed Thur / Fri / Sat night. Sunday morning was fine but other two were noisy.

Review 86:Very clean and central location. Breakfast beautiful

Review 87:Despite lovely lined curtains, very bright streetlight and lights from the Dairy opposite was not conducive to a good nights sleep. Very unclear re:payment of room bill. Check in and out is done at the nearby restaurant so is only possible when that is open!

Review 88:Luxurious appearance of the building. Lovely breakfast...thanks to the chef.

Review 89:The lighting in the upstairs bedroom could have been brighter.

Review 90:The bedroom is bright, comfortable bed, beautifully furnished and co-ordinated, quiet location. excellent breakfast with a choice of local produce on offer.

Review 91:The bed was a double where it could have easily fitted a queen.

Review 92:It was tastefully decorated and appears to be fairly recent. The bedroom was spacious, the bathroom small but adequate and the lounge area and breakfast room delightful. Booking.com indicates there is on site parking, but it is in the street. We found a space nearby.

Review 93:They have a Great breakfast and surprisingly Large Rooms. Very clean and spacious. The location was perfect to walk throughout the town with ease and in comfort. They have a comfy large WIFI room to do all your work and leisure time. I would recommended this location for your stay in Kloniakilty.

Review 94:all it needs to be perfect is a few more pillows

Review 95:i loved everything about An Sugan, the room was beautiful ,everythhing you need is there and its spotlessly clean, fantastic shower, everything, breakfast was amazing and the staff couldnt be nicer

Review 96:Not there long enough!!!! and no milk for tea in room, plus i think bottled water is a nice gesture in B and B's.

Review 97:The whole experience. Was attending wedding in Clon and stayed there. Liked the bar next door as well.So so central.

Review 98:Greeted by female manager (Ella??), very friendly and helpful. Nice bar area to download photos, emails etc. Other staff very polite and courteous. Room was and breakfast was a good start to the day.

Review 99:It is located near a milk plant, there was a lot of milk tanker traffic and a lot of equipment noise - eventually I fell asleep about 4 am

Review 100:Rooms were spacious and clean . it is centrally located

Review 101:A bit noisy in morning with the milk trucks coming in. No one in B&B to talk with. WIFI not working well

Review 102:Room size nice, very close to great pub restaurants. Nice gathering room with Irish books of interest. Good breakfast.

Review 103:The place is just far to expensive for what it is. No wifi in the rooms; restaurant too expensive, BB's all around that just have better facilities.

Review 104:Breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly as were reception staff. Person to person this place is great but...

Review 105:Could do with bottled water in the room or a mini fridge

Review 106:Unlike most B&Bs you could come and go whenever you liked as you were given a key to the door Nice room, lovely breakfast, friendly staff

Review 107:The bed was very uncomfortable the mattress is in need of updating. Water was not very hot.

Review 108:It was quite central and had a great restaurant next door owned be the B & B. Lovely big and nicely decorated room.

Review 109:My only complaint is that we couldn't get the temperature of the shower above tepid in our room. I think this was just an issue with the thermostat control on the shower that needs fixing as there was hot water to the sink in the bathroom.

Review 110:Great location. Lovely spacious room, there were three of us in it myself my partner and our two year old. Breakfast was very nice and they chopped up some fruit for our daughter who wont eat a full breakfast.

Review 111:Very nice, big room in a quiet house. The guesthouse has a very homely feel, with a lovely breakfast room and a separate lounge. Great central location in the town!

Review 112:breakfast served between 9-10 only even on a Sunday morning check out 11am at a cost of 90 euro per couple compared to hotels in the same area, breakfast up to 10.30 and check out at 12am at the same price way too expensive for a B@B

Review 113:friendly barman called Brendan, rip off for a glorified Bed @ Breakfast

Review 114:The accommodation was extremely basic. Carpets were very old and shabby. Could do with a serious re-vamp. Room was tiny as was ensuite.

Review 115:I liked the location and staff

Review 116:We were at the top of the house and stairs were a bit of a climb, didnt spoil our visit though.

Review 117:The bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable.Breakfast was very tasty and there was plenty of choice.Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 118:Cold in the room

Review 119:Location staff friendly food excellent

Review 120:Laid back and very nice staff

Review 121:Location

Review 122:Location was perfect for me. The staff were friendly and obliging - I arrived very much later than originally planned, and there was no problem.

Review 123:Cold building, Only three tv channels, no cereals at breakfast.

Review 124:Not much to like really.

Review 125:Great breakfast and comfy room.

Review 126:I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of this B&B ... Breakfast was fab ... A very nice comfortable old house with character

Review 127:I was happy with all

Review 128:Really warm welcome, Very kind , friendly and helpful . Thanks Ellen and Pauline!

Review 129:had to wait for the staff to check us in and out didn't seem like a central location

Review 130:the room was very comfortable and the shower was great
