Reviews for Bull Hotel

Review 1:The quilts were summer ones, very thin and we were cold. Very bitter outside.and not enough milk or coffee for a two night stay.

Review 2:Had to ask for a clean kettle and light bulb both were supplied very quickly. Room was spotless and staff very polite.

Review 3:Due to severe weather and high winds the outside air vents were rattling most of the nights we stayed.

Review 4:Totally friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in the door.

Review 5:The central heating was broken and the engineer was coming from Wigan!!! That's pub companies for you; no local services, only centralised. However the staff bent over backwards to keep us warm.

Review 6:The twin bedroom was big with a modern shower room. The pub was traditional with real ales and a good menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 7:No heating, only thin duvet. Wasn't able to use card as advised on site, cash or cheque only. The cash machine across the road wasn't working. Had to travel find one.

Review 8:Breakfast

Review 9:I think it should be made clearer that whilst dogs are accepted, if you want to eat it is not necessarily outside, as one disgruntled reviewer complained, but in the public bar, which is small, crowded and dominated by an enormous television which, when we were there, was showing boxing...

Review 10:Staff texting on mobile phone while people are waiting to be served.

Review 11:Very convenient for the ferry to Ireland, easy to find, food good prices reasonable.

Review 12:Breakfast on 4th day was made by someone different and no toast was offered even though it was full English and was brought out before cereal had been finished.

Review 13:Room was away from main part of pub and was really quiet (apart from creaking floor in room above on last night) and comfortable.

Review 14:Room dated - thought little bit overpriced for same. Very little shelf room (bathroom)

Review 15:Staff were nice. room very big and bed very comfortable. Perfect situated for Ferry. Food great in bar and breakfast was fab (all piping hot - which is huge bonus) and loads of everything. Also very close to Holyhead town (car though)

Review 16:breakfast was poor. Fry up was precooked and and left. Needs much improvement

Review 17:Very good room, comfort and good value for money Friendly and helpful staff

Review 18:Saturday night disco and kareokee downstairs. Not ideal when trying to get a sleeping baby in/up to bed Not enough pressure to run the shower over the bath

Review 19:Easy to find. Clean and comfortable room

Review 20:Hate to sound any negative. One was our fault one not. The wifi password was well signposted on entry but we were very tired & forgot to ask. Would be handy if it was put in the rooms for forgetful people like us. The other is there is lots of signage as you're driving out hotel. This did slightly obscure the drivers view onto what is a busy-ish road.

Review 21:Staff were friendly and facilities excellent. Even though its a pub/hotel we never heard any noise. Free wifi a good bonus. Breakfast to die for. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 22:Only negative points were ,no full length mirror in room, and small shower cubicle.

Review 23:Fabulous food ,very clean ,staff very helpful, nice quiet area just what we wanted.

Review 24:The rooms allocated were not in the main building but a lovely cottage type annex.2 rooms with their own separate entrance. Good choice at breakfast. After booking online last available rooms, a double and twin hotel phoned to see if we actually wanted 2 doubles and rearranged the twin to make a double.

Review 25:Bathroom floor a little time-stained. Just needs a deep clean.

Review 26:Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, better by far than the neighbouring Valley Hotel which we stayed in last time..

Review 27:Bathroom (room10) in desperate need of redecoration. Buffet cooked breakfast meant food was dried out and cold, also very wasteful. There are few enough rooms to cook to order.

Review 28:Easy to find, bedroom comfortable, showere good.

Review 29:Very expensive. Breakfast was very poor, waiters were unfriendly.

Review 30:Was no problem to arrive after midnight (we took the late ferry from Dublin). Room was very nice.

Review 31:Heating didn't work, shower didn't work and TV remote control didn't work. Evening female bar staff very flirty and unprofessional

Review 32:Breakfast was nice

Review 33:payed for cooked breakfast none avalible no cook .tried to pay on sunday no-one avalible to take money made to wait 20 minutes while somebody came making me late for ferry

Review 34:room was clean and when booked were put in suitable room to accomodate my disabled son

Review 35:This is not a hotel, it is a low to mid range Bed & Breakfastsituated over a local pub for which you pay top london 4 Star Hotelprices. It is extremely expensive by comparison to anywhere else in theEurope. Swiss quality hotel prices are not as expensive. You must checkin at the bar as there is no reception in the bull and no night porterwhich one would expect for the price. You get a key if you are stayingout later than 11p.M. The handrail to the bed rooms was greasy and dirtyand the shower in the bed room was a total disaster. The shower is onlya mixer unit and the water is either too cold or two hot. It isimpossible to set the water at a reasonable temperature. This wasprobably the biggest upset of all. The bed room itself was reasonablygood and clean. The breakfasts are very over cooked with fried eggscontaining two and three shades of yellow depending on how long theyhave been left waiting in the self service unit. It appears thateverything is cooked at 7a .M. or earlier and left out in the heateddisplay unit for the morning -with last breakfast available at 9.30. Allself service which is good. Liberal use of deep fat friers with thesausages means very greasy and over cooked produce. Similarly the baconand black pudding. The tea was fine. I was attending the Anglesey Showon business and found this accommodation -described as a hotel- aseverywhere else was fully booked out. The conditions I found explainswhy there was accommodation still available at the bull when I booked. There is an urgent need throughout Britain for standards to bemaintained when an establishment is described as a hotel. In Ireland onemay not use the hotel description unless the facilities are up tocertain standards -2, 3,4,5 stars. You can rest assured of what you getin Ireland when accommodation is described as hotel with a star rating.

Review 36:The bed room was ok.

Review 37:It is a pub with a few rooms rather than a hotel.room we stayed in was rather tired. No food available Sunday night at 5.30 pm.room door sticking, hand to shoulder charge to open/ shut.mouse in the room.

Review 38:Bed was comfortable

Review 39:When booked I required a double room, & twin room, I didn't expect in the double room 2 single beds pushed together which left a dip in the bed, we both suffer with bad backs & this didn't help, we was in agony all night & next day. Didn't get much sleep as whoever was upstairs must have been wearing diver boots at 4am in a morning, every time they walked the ceiling creaked & our light shook, people going to pub also parked outside the rooms & was coincidently walking past our windows, will not be going back again. The breakfast was dry, we had to ask for a pot of tea & coffee & even toast. The young girl helping with breakfast could of been more pleasant by smiling a little instead of looking glum.

Review 40:On arrival to check in during the eve, it appeared a shambles having to push through a busy bar & no code for WiFi offered. Fire alarm went off & coukdnt be stopped for over an hour at 2am! False alam. No apology offered...

Review 41:Breakfast was lovely... Room excellent and good value for money

Review 42:It was fine as an over night stop There was nothing exceptional. The hotel looked a bit tired but the room and breakfast was fine good choice would stay again

Review 43:we ordered a meal in the restaurant for a family but did not like the way the meals were served on wooden boards and this was agreed by all who ate, yet at breakfast plates were used which was ok. we were asked to pay on arrival and would have prefered to leave our card open for any extras required in our stay we were told this was because there would not be anyone available in the morning to sort it out before we left but it could have been sorted before we retired for the night and there was staff about.

Review 44:we liked the comfortable accomodation and extras, good parking, retired early and found it was quite at night even whilst pub and bar were still open, nice clean linen and bath towels

Review 45:Access to room via a grubby yard with bulging waste skips. Beds were "bargain basement" and saggy. One tiny lightbulb so you didn't walk into things, equally poor bedside lamps. No caddy in the shower, and nowhere else to even put the soap. Shower floor slippery. Toilet seat off-centre, shaving mirror suitable for a midget, had to shave in a half-crouch. The loo-brush parted from its handle when I used it. Large room, but no chair or table. Breakfast pre-cooked and kept hot under a heating lamp, eggs dried-out and vulcanised ("slimmer's breakfast" - puts you off eating till dinnertime).

Review 46:The staff were really welcoming, helpful and generally pleasant. The chef did a good job regarding the pub dinner food.

Review 47:Bedroom was outdated need redecorating-Pls replace worn out bed.General handyman was very pleasant and hard-working.Thank you

Review 48:The Breakfast staff and their friendliness the breakfast was a varied choice and well cooked/served/displayed-Hot plate food warmer should have been on to keep hot food hot-Thanks

Review 49:every thing was tired or wanted redoing we were out in a out building room 14 at the side they had left an old toilet and wash basin from another room. You had to hold the shower head because it just flopped around on a piece of hose pipe and the water went all over the floor. There was damp patches on the walls,Could all do with a good demolition.

Review 50:coming away

Review 51:Firstly we were placed in the annexed part of the hotel following morning we were woken by the above room using the shower and toilet the soil pipe must be internally, the food was OK apart from the hand cut chips which were burnt seemed as though it was old cooking oil

Review 52:Nice pub

Review 53:Lots of little steps up and down in the corridors upstairs but that's the nature of the building

Review 54:Friendly atmosphere and very quiet in the bedroom even with a karioki in the bar. Quiet country location

Review 55:Do not go here! This was the worst hotel I had ever stayed in in mylife! Arrived approximately 3pm, after paying £70 for a twin room forone night we went straight to our room. Well... On entry a strange smellhits you, so we initially opened the windows to air the room out.Afterwards we found that the cups were filthy and covered in stains. Then, we thought we would try the beds out.. Oh dear! All of the beddingwas damp and felt like it had just come out of the washing machine, hadto take the sheets outside to dry them ourselves. We thought we would gofor a drink in the hotel/pub to take our minds of the room.. TheWhite wine was horrible, tasted worse than a cheap bottle from thesupermarket and was warm. We decided not to eat there that night judgingby the drinks. The local takeaway on the other hand was lovely. After avery unsettled night in the springy beds which were basically liketrampolines we made our way to breakfast. The food selection was ok andwe went to sit down, minutes later we were told our dog was not welcomeso we had to sit outside on picnic tables in the cold, wet and windyweather to eat our breakfast. Needless to say we will never be returningto this hotel and I would certainly never recommend it to anyone else..Do not go here!

Review 56:Nothing!!

Review 57:Not a bad experience but the floor & tables in the bar area could do with a mop & a wipe down as it slightly lets the excellent food down a bit.

Review 58:The food here is really excellent, bar meals, breakfast & carvery were all top notch & reasonably priced. Wifi is also excellent and the room was v quiet. Décor is a little old fashioned but the room was very clean. Tons of parking. I would stay again.

Review 59:Rooms very small and no room to move around as beds and spartan furniture in your way. Rooms very old with some modernisation done but more needs to be done to make it worth the price charged. Location is said to be Holyhead but location is outside of the town. The Co-Ordinates provided for hotel location don't work in a tom tom satnav.

Review 60:Breakfast was nice and beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful except that the owner (a blonde woman in the kitchen) does not like staff spending time talking to guests. The room is reasonably clean but very small for the price and you can see that certain areas are not cleaned properly (like behind lockers/beds etc).

Review 61:The only slight grumble was that our room was directly above the air conditioning unit which was quite nisy first thing in the morning.

Review 62:We required an early breakfast so the eating times were very helpful. The food was very good.

Review 63:Piss stains and pubes on toilet. Rubble and metal fence as view . Shower could only be described as pathetic- worst we have ever used by far . Stay in trearrdur bay- avoid the bull!

Review 64:Breakfast was good

Review 65:Lack of a working shower in my room and associated ignorance of the issue means I may go elsewhere next time. Even a tenner off would show they care...
